Opposites Attract by Oryu | Full Series Review
This series really surprised me with how much emotional depth it carries beneath its simple premise. Opposites Attract doesn’t just lean into the trope, it uses it to explore the complexities of being part of the LGBTQ+ community.
One of the strongest aspects of this series is how it addresses the internal and external struggles that come with identity: the pressure of hiding who you are, the fear of how it may impact family and friendships, and that lingering feeling of not being able to fully exist as yourself.
Through Euntak and Dojae’s relationship, we see both the beauty and the messiness of love. Their dynamic isn’t perfect, and that’s what makes it so compelling. They don’t just “fit” right away; they learn how to complement each other over time.
Their relationship is messy and emotional, at times frustrating, even infuriating!! But it’s that same tension that makes their growth feel so satisfying in the end.
The side characters add a lot of value as well. They don’t just exist in the background; they highlight the importance of friendship and support systems. A big theme throughout the series is balance; learning how to maintain your individuality while being in a relationship, and not losing the parts of yourself that make you you. That message really stands out.
One point worth noting is that the miscommunication and emotional push-and-pull can feel a bit repetitive at times. However, it also reflects the characters’ personal struggles and emotional immaturity, which makes their growth feel more realistic by the end.

This review is for S2 of the webtoon.
S2 was well written in the sense that I was able to see the characters as multidimensional and complex. The author did a good job with highlighting the differences between Kwon Euntak (MC) and Lee Dojae (ML) and how these differences resulted in growing pains and conflict in their relationship. Furthermore, the misunderstanding that KET and LDJ faced forced them to work harder to understand each other, because while they liked each other, they found it difficult to be on the same page and were often frustrating and hurting each other unintentionally. Both characters underwent growth individually and in their relationship, and I truly appreciated the author's approach with portraying a more realistic relationship by showing a couple that fought and made up again and again.
I also know that the author didn't explicitly mention anything about it but all throughout reading S2, I was thinking whether LDJ was on the spectrum or not. Anyway, whether the author intended it or not, I think LDJ is an interesting character and I could see that he was doing his best. He wasn't perfect but he was receptive to change, and to improve himself for the betterment of his relationship with KET.
Even the supporting characters showed growth, with Goo Hyobin and Jung Hyuk finally making some progress in their own complicated relationship. I was also so relieved to find out that GHB liking KET was just a lie and that there wasn't a love triangle in play.

Uhhhhh, estuvo mejor que el 1er volumen. El tumultoso inicio como novios de Dojae y Euntak hizo su relación mucho más interesante that's for sure, en realidad disfruté mucho sus discusiones ahsjsjs me encanta que realmente estemos conociendo a Dojae y no sea solamente ese personaje callado y enigmático de la 1era temporada (amamos a los hombres que lloran!!!) algunos dirán que tuvo actitudes cuestionables pero no es un mal niño, simplemente es autista T_T
Hyobin y Hyuk MIS NIÑOS, MIS PROTEGIDOS. Esos dos me tenían al borde del asiento, en todos los capitulos tenía la esperanza de que aparecieran. ¿Qué puedo decir? Mi corazón late por el angst !! Ya quiero verlos lovey dovey I NEED THEM TOGETHER

En esta parte puedo entender mejor a Lee Dojae, no justificó todo lo que ha hecho porque no hay como. Pero el conocer más del personaje ayuda a lidiar con el.
La historia me esta gustado y cada que avanzó me atrapa más, en este momento soy fan de los protagonistas y ya quiero seguir con la historia.

No se exactamente que opinar de esta historia...; la trama en sí no es nada fuera de lo común y no le encuentro nada que sea muy llamativo.
No soy fan de las escenas +18, así que esas cosas siempre me descolocan un poquito...(como en este caso)
No me agrada nadie en particular, pero quiero saber como va a terminar.

Well, that was disappointing. I spent this whole second season nervous and wanting to beat up both Donjae and Euntak. Sorry not sorry! I just don't feel a real connection with them! They seem like two teenagers with a very unstable and toxic relationship. Not my vibe. At the moment I'm only reading the story for Hyobin who, for me, is one of the most interesting characters in this story.

No se dan una IDEA de la bronca que me da este volumen. Particularmente actitudes de personajes, si bien se explican, la bronca no se me va no importa cuantas veces lea este manhwa 🙏
