As a cookbook junkie, I’m always happy to see nice big photos along with a clean layout I can feel good about having on my kitchen counter, but this one also boasts an interesting vertical design with two recipes side by side that you could technically copy and clip for a recipe box. There are servings sizes and basic macros for every dish, but no prep and cook time, although most of the fare seems fairly straightforward.
For breakfast, think Almond and Coconut Porridge or Cashew and Berries with Creme (it’s fancier if you spell it that way!) and you technically should, since it’s made with a LOT of creme fraiche. Lunch and dinner get a bit more creative and seem both interchangeable and easy to meal prep for the week (Crack Slaw Egg Roll in a Bowl or Beef Satay with Summer Squash Stir Fry.)
While I follow a low-carb lifestyle and have read more than my share of similarly-themed cookbooks, I’m always a bit wary of keto’s high fat content, which brings me to desserts like Cinnamon Butter, Pecan Fudge, and Chocolate “Fat Bombs,” to name a few! But the author, a certified nutritionist, separates me, a “curious beginner” from the seasoned keto enthusiast right up front and if you’re the latter this volume definitely brings it, fat bombs and all (Bacon Ice Cream, anyone?)
I am 63 years old, and I want to go on a diet, but I just don't know how. A friend of mine went on the keto diet, and what he told me to eat was not what I wanted to do. This cookbook has opened my eyes, especially the part on desserts and ice cream. I thought the keto diet was nothing but proteins, but I was wrong. Get this cookbook if you are looking for a recipe for the keto meal plan. I now feel confident I can do this diet now.
The introduction is a good summary of the keto diet. Most recipes seem easy to prepare. I would have added some ideas for substituting flours, sweeteners, etc. I haven’t prepared any of the recipes yet but look forward to trying many of them.
This is a simple keto cookbook that's great for beginners. Recipes are easy to follow and use common ingredients. The format is simple with no long stories—just recipes. While it has fewer recipes than the title suggests, there's enough variety to get started.
