Mayet Justice #15

Sinful Deception

Rate this book
The January cold bites almost as savagely as an ex-lover’s regret.
At least, that’s how Detective Charlie Fletcher feels as his phone rings for the fifth time in an hour—his ex-wife’s name flashing like a warning he’s long stopped heeding.

A new year in Copeland City should mean clean slates.
Fresh starts.
Old grudges buried beneath the frost.

That’s what she wants.
But Charlie knows better.

Some bridges aren’t meant to be rebuilt.
Some fires were never accidental.
And even the most loyal man will walk away from someone who insists on holding the match.

These are the consequences of bad behavior.
And rock bottom?
It’s colder than January.
Deeper than Hades.
And far more brutal than a good man’s disappointment.

Sinful Deception #15

This is not Charlie's book as the authors blurb eludes to. We learn more about Charlie Fletcher and his past as his storyline continues but it's still told from Archer and Minka's points of view. There's a sad, final and predictable resolution for his and his daughter's storyline. All the gang are here for a final farewell.

I expected a plot more sinister & closer to home given the synopsis, wasn’t prepared for the overwhelming emotional ride.

This could’ve taken a path down narcotics given the directions & made interesting due to the line they have to walk because of family. Instead I got an emotional drain for the plot with the interesting bit kept secret until climax. I clearly misjudged this book’s synopsis & was disappointed.

Hauntingly Beautiful

From start to finish, my heart broke for Charlie and Moo!! But to know all along, Fifi was there to be what they needed is the beauty of it all!

I enjoyed having Soph jump in and save the day, like always. To enjoy the sill banter when it was there, but most of all…

The selfless love that Arch, Minka and the gang possess. The no hold bar of their undying strength, love and loyalty is beyond anything you truly ever see! Lix continues to show how much of a caretaker he truly is. Cato, that kid is formidable and is going to be something amazing! Micah, oh Micah…protector of all. Tim…quiet, but strong!

Archer and Minka…the complete package! The heart and soul of this crew!!

What an awesome read!

A fantastic story and series

This was a difficult story due a horrible tragedy that unfortunately affects very few. However, little Mia almost had me in tears numerous times, as well as literally broke my heart. There were a few unexpected surprises, one of which I completely expected, but it was the where, when, but mostly the who that shocked me. It's certainly not a story that you'll want to miss.

One thing about me is that I absolutely hate cliffhangers. Now, this book didn't have a cliffhanger in the traditional sense, but one conversation at the end of the book is definitely going to bring up old memories. While not as obsessed with them like in the past, they're definitely not forgotten.
Although I am very intrigued by this time frame in the character's life, especially how it shaped their own life but I'm very curious about what will happen now. Luckily, the next book in this series is available, which I will be reading next. However, I could've done without the teaser in this book. I would much rather enjoy being surprised as I was reading the actual book. JMO!!

I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.

Amazing

Oh Jada…..this installation of the Mayet Series was just….wow!

I wish for everyone to get wrapped into the Emilia Finn world like I am, like our entire crew is. The level of story telling is unmatched by ANY author on the planet. There is no other author who can produce the world via books like Emilia Finn does and you just cannot compare. It’s not a level playing field. Emilia is a master storyteller.

This “episode” was needed and holy smokes it delivered. Though this was about the loss of a woman the bigger picture was the love, concern and devotion to one little girl…Mia. All of these big bad personalities joined forces for her. It was full of the never ending dysfunction that is wrapped around this family by choice. They may have their issues but they are there, in force, to make sure Mia is supported and okay.

This book was just beautiful. It was unlike all the others but it, in true Emilia fashion, left us with tons of what now and just like all the others….we will get our answers….eventually and in time. So freaking good!

Another amazing romantic suspense story with tons of emotion!!

𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 is the 15th book in the Mayet Justice series by Emilia Finn, and this installment hit me in the feels in a unique way! Our favorite Copeland Crew faces crime and death every day, but when the loss is close to home, the rules go out the window! The tear-inducing emotion, the dramatic plot twists, the indelible love and loyalty among this group of unlikely friends-turned family, and the sweet and spicy perfection of the Minka and Archer romance, kept me riveted to the pages as I commiserated with the characters as the drama unfolded. Catching glimpses of various Malones, reading top notch banter, and seeing a special appearance of an old friend, absolutely added to the success of the story! Emilia Finn can weave the found family vibes with the romance and the mind-blowing suspense like no other! The surprise at the end has me chomping at the bit for the next book!! You won’t regret starting this amazing series!! It just keeps getting better and better!!

Click click..BOOM!

Just life that, Emilia Finn has given us an explosive edition to the Mayet Justice series! As the last words linger in my mind, as I turned the page of book FIFTEEN of this amazing duo, my brain is slow clapping the amazingness I just read. Brilliant, soul touching amazingness that will have you begging for more crumbs she's left in its wake. This story revolves around closure. For Detective Charlie Fletcher and his beautiful little bird Mia. Those orbiting in his world, piece together sympathy and compassion laced with undertones of relief. Once again, we're graced with a certain "other" ballerina, and her connections as plots thicken, lines are crossed, and the bread crumbs are scattered without us even becoming aware. Brilliant, page turning bliss. In fifteen books, I've never tired from this incredibly evolving storyline and the players who make it happen. That little tid bit at the end, though... you absolutely have ALL my attention now!! Bring. On. Sixteen!!!

Wow!!!! I haven't cried in a SINGLE book from this series.. but THIS BOOK. MAN... it's almost like we knew eventually it was going to happen, you know.. Jayda was cruising towards death for a while but having it written out in DETAIL! MISS GIRL. the Hospital scene 😭😭😭😭
I cried lol man what a scene..

This was a tragically good book!

Charlie and his decision to kill Booth !!! Watching him become slightly corrupted kind of made me happy lol. Because other than not snitching on Minka he's very straight and narrow!
I was slightly hurt he didn't pull Archer in but I get it needed to be done.

Then the opposite MINKA and her soft side! Baby girl was dropping gems left and right throughout the book!

I want to hug Moo so bad.. that baby is a character in a book but the mom in meeeeee ..

Man the a was good I hope this series never ends!

4.5⭐️ I loved this “episode” of the Mayet Justice series. There was closure with Jada and Fletch, healing, and so much love by family.

This episode had all my favorite things about the Mayet series: the love between Archer and Minka, the found family, humor, Fifi/Sera being back in Fletch and Moo’s life (hopefully to stay— I need more of them lol), the Malone Brothers and their love for each other, a guest appearance from Soph and Jay, and we can’t forget Mayor Lawerence😏

This book was a little “heavy” because it focused on grief, guilt over the what-could-have-been’s and the I-should-have’s that sometimes follow death, and overall juggling feelings over a death of woman that not a lot of people liked because of her actions from previous books in the series.

Can’t wait to read more about this group of people in the next book!

Minka sure does have a way with words. 🥺😭 I never expected this. Fletch has been through so much. I'm on book #15 in this series. Yes they are standalones, but you get to learn, know, and feel for these characters. Everything she told Fletch was spot on. Archer took the brotherly man to man approach. And Minka took the sisterly comforting approach and I felt that whole conversation in my being. This band of friends is more than anyone could wish for.

Awwwww Mia🥺🥺🥺🥺🥲🥲🥲🥲 she got me sad over here😭🥹. That sweet sweet lil girl . She's just the cutest thing ever🥹. I love how she's still innocent and sees the world with love , life and chance. Her spirit is so beautiful. I need Fletch to have a break through. Because he has been through hell and back 🥺. Just give him a break. Hang in there Fletch...you moment is coming. 🥹🥺🥹.

That ending!

There's something about the way Emilia writes that I can't get enough of. This story is about Fletch getting some sort of closure, but it's also about friendship and mysteries and history. It's still mostly Minka and Archer, but it's... also not. It's not the story I expected, and I love it even more for that reason. Jada... oh, that woman gets on my nerves. Fletch and Mia break my heart, and one scene in particular made me cry. Several made me laugh. When any of the Malones are talking, it's mostly mean and yet still their brand of love.
I cannot wait for the next book because the final hook... It's a big one.

Repeating titles . . .

Every book, I say the same thing. The book is always amazing; it's from an AMAZING author.

But there was one scene, 🥵🥵🥵. The spicy adult scene kind. Y'all, she killed it. And then there was a really awful chapter, she killed that one too. I mean those in the best way possible, she killed it. This book gave us a whole lot of heartbreak and healing and it was amazing to read another installment of our Copeland Crew!!

Thank you, as always, for writing these books that we gobble every release day. Please, please keep them coming!!

What an emotional ride with the Copeland Crew

What an emotional ride. It’s difficult to explain to people why I was crying when reading a book. I love how much Minka and Archer’s relationship is growing, and how Minka is now accepting this crew as her family as much as they annoy her. The details that Minka explains to Moo about heaven is one of the sweetest ways to explain death to a young child. I am pretty sure I have become dehydrated due to the amount of tears I cried with this. I hope that Fletch can now heal and move on, hopefully with Fifi by his side.

I cannot wait to see what happens next in Copeland.

a series that just keeps getting better

I swear this series should be a show, and I’d wait on the edge of my seat to watch every new episode. The characters are AMAZING. This book hurt my heart in so many ways but was also very well done. Not everyone gets their happy ever afters on this side of heaven, and for those of us who have the brutal job of seeing the aftermath of ultimate consequence of addiction- this book definitely was both painful and beautiful, simultaneously.

Wow!

This book was, in turn, heartbreaking, funny, sad, sweet, and devastating. My heart is with Gletch and Mia, though Jada wasn't good for either of them, she leaves a giant hole in their hearts where she could have been great. All the Malone boys together is always great fun, they crack me up. Sophia and her pop-in's are always fun, except her news at the very end. Poor Minka, this is gonna be so hard for her. Can't wait until the next book, as always, to see what happens next.

What a Rollercoaster of emotions

This was yet again another hit. I don't know how Emilia does it. She's absolutely amazing at weaving these characters and even past characters that cross over and around to tell a story that keeps you hooked from the start. We're in book 15, and you would think arriving with the exact same mcs would get tiring or stale and get here we all are impatiently waiting the next arrival from our Copeland family. Nothing hits like a Finn book. Ask if get books leave you with a book hangover.

kick the scoundrel in the shin!

I really wanted to see this happen! Maybe next book. I really love this series. Minka has grown so much since book one. Archer is definitely top 5 book boyfriends. The mvp character in this book though is Mia Moo. Ughh she’s just so cute and my mom heart just wants to hold her. Poor Fletcher. He’s such a good man and awesome dad. I’m so glad Emilia is continuing this series. She’s my favorite author. I feel like I’m best friends with her characters. Also, Cato is going to be the best girl dad when he grows up.

Emilia never fails us

It’s never something you can predict reading this series which is one of the many things that keeps me coming back to Emilia’s works of art. That’s what they are. Absolute works of art. Every character holds a purpose and never falters. Past characters have ways of returning. Plot twists happen ALL THE TIME. This one was heart wrenching but still kept me on the edge of my seat knowing something was going to happen. The our favorite ballerina? French kiss.

Keep getting better

This one hit me right in the feels, and I'm conflicted about it in a good way lol. Each book in this series is better than the last, and I don't realize how much I miss these characters until I read the next book in the series. It feels like coming home. I'm really enjoying Minka's growth and watching her become comfortable with her found family, even that pesky Felix! Can't wait for the next one!

Sinful Deception was an emotional read that I wasn’t quite prepared for. Our usual group of Copeland favorites put their lives on hold as they rallied around one of their own. Lives were forever changed and Emilia Finn wrote this how only she can, laughing one minute and crying the next, giving us hope. Archer and Minka are as hot as ever. We see some of our favorite visitors come to town, which is always a treat. As always Emilia Finn ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I didn’t know what I would be gettting

Ok, so I thought this book was something THAT IT ABSOLUTELY WAS NOT and I’m here for it!! I have no words for the excruciating excitement I have for the next book!!! I’m here in my bubble not really but yeah I’m waiting for the next one. If this was the spoiler group and not a book review, I would have more words but I am gobsmacked right now. If you haven’t read these. Start at the beginning and meet me back here!!

Sinful Deception

This one spiked my anxiety, held onto it and then added to it. Emilia Finn knows how to fold you into the story. I loved seeing Sophia involved in this. I definitely didn’t expect a funeral. And to get teary for Fletch. But here we are. But I love love love how they all came together. Including the New York Malones. I just adore this family. And now I not so patiently wait for book 16.

Phenomenal book crying, laughing you run through all the emotions in this book and when you get to the end you’re sad it’s finished and now you have to wait for the next book. I loved how everyone rallied around Fletcher and Mia and were there for them even if they didn’t really know them. It was beautiful to show what families do for each other no matter what. Anyone who reads this book I guarantee you will love it

Another page turning hit ! 5 stars are not enough !

What an amazing Author to write yet another 5 stars book. I couldn’t get enough and couldn’t put it down and to have Soph make an appearance just was icing on the already delicious cake! Geez the steamy scenes were extra steamy and the emotional scenes were extra emotional!! All worth it , I can’t stress enough to pick up and read the Mayet Justice series NOW !!

Deception was a rollercoaster of emotions from the very beginning. Poor Charlie, I just wanted to hug him and Mia both. As much as I enjoy the murder mysteries with this series, it was nice to see more of the characters that have been developing from the beginning.
The spice was off the charts, very well written. The ending was so not expected, but I wanted to cheer for them when it happened. Thanks Emilia, I loved it.

My absolute favorite of the Mayet Justice series. What a freakin tear jerker!!! I should be embarrassed with how giddy I felt at the Sophia interactions but I’m not because I love this family of characters. The crossovers are like coming home, such perfection. Mia that sweet sweet baby and how everyone loves her! I loved her reunion with Fifi, cannot wait for the fireworks that you know will be coming between her and Charlie. Next book can’t come soon enough!!!

Another 5 stars!

Sinful Deception is book #15 in the Mayet Justice series and I am seriously so in love with the Copeland (and New York) Crew! Emilia's character development and dynamic writing keeps me intrigued and brings out all the emotions, book after book. I count down the days to the release of the next book in the series. I could read 100 Mayet books and never tire of Minka and Archer, their love for each other, and their love for found family.

I love heading back to Copeland City. Emilia's worlds are like home. The characters feel like your friends and family and i will always think about them for as long as i live. The time however was heavy. The mixed emotions of what should have been sad, but felt like relief for them all. It was bittersweet to say the least. One of the biggest tasks/cases was finally put to a stop.. for now atleast. Worlds collided in the best way i always love roller town making appearences in copeland. The cliffhanger of an ending though.. insane! The series needs to be read. its a must love if you love suspence, firey characters and a world of unknown.

Must Read

I will continue to read this series, every book by Emilia Finn has left me wanting more. To have 15 books of the same couple and group of friends/family, one would think would get old or repetitive, but they don’t.
This one did need tissues. Be prepared. It will pull at your heartstrings even when you don’t like the person it happens to.
The ending! OMG! I don’t know what to expect next.
