The Best Man and the Maid of Honour. It's never going to happen. Right?

Emme Peters knows men like Jem Stuart, and it's her mission in life to avoid them. But when she finds out he's the Best Man to her Maid of Honour at her best friend's wedding, she's going to have trouble avoiding him--especially when she finds out she's just moved into the same office building as him.

Emme wants Delaney's big day to be perfect. She is determined to keep things civil with Jem, and she's not going to let the silly matter of their secret one-night stand affect things. But when civil turns into a real friendship, what comes next is something Emme had never even considered. Could she fall for a suit-wearing, corporate job-having guy? Could Jem be different to all the men she's met like him before?

Your Move is a tale of love, friendship, and learning that your assumptions can be wrong.

Your Move is the second in a series of interconnected standalones. While you don't need to read Two Dates to understand Jem and Emme's story, the characters from it will feature heavily in this book.

Your Turn by Alex E Ramsden
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I want to thank Alex for giving me the lovely honor to read this book as an ARC before release and I am so glad I was able to. This is a second book of an interconnected series (which I have not read the first yet, but now I am most definitely going to once I get the time)

Holy crap??? I ATE this up so fast. I devoured this like it was an addiction and I just couldn’t stop. I really enjoyed Alex’s writing. The banter? The female friendships? The characters themselves?? I just really enjoyed it all.

Like I said earlier I really enjoyed her writing and it’s because of how relatable she made her characters. She had characters dealing with anxiety, touch family dynamics, society expectations and family expectations, and ace/aro representation (which I was completely new to this since I never heard about it but I loved how inclusive she was for having this in here too)
The female friendship between Emme and Del had my heart so warm. It had me wishing I had that dynamic and friendship in my life. I really enjoy reading about good female friendships because it’s always so beautiful to read.

The romance between Emme and Jem though in this story was just incredible. They both had to grow and learn and they both had internal struggles due to their pasts. I just ate up every second they were together and I enjoyed both of these characters deeply.

I definitely recommend reading this interconnected series, I may have not read the first yet but now I plan on it. Your Move comes out November 11, 2024 and will be available on KU, ebook, and Paperback 🫶🏼

Tropes included:
📖Forced Proximity
📖Maid of Honor/ Best Man
📖One Night Stand
📖Workplace romance (a little bit)

I had the privilege of being an ARC reader for Your Move by Alex E. Ramsden and I am so glad I got the opportunity! I was hooked from beginning to end and literally finished it in a day because I couldn’t put it down. Your Move was a fantastic continuation of The Stuart Family series. I really liked getting to see more of Delaney and Miles’ (from Two Dates: Book I) relationship, and I fell equally as in love with Emme and Jem.

Ramsden has a talent for writing relatable, realistic characters and I appreciate that she doesn’t shy away from representing characters who have issues with anxiety, self-doubt, and who are dealing with societal expectations of what a man/woman should be and do, as well as tough family dynamics. I also loved that there was representation of ace/aro, which I haven’t seen a lot of in the books I’ve read.

The romance between Emme and Jem was wonderful and I liked that as the story went on and you learned more about the two of them and their complicated pasts their earlier interactions, doubts, and choices made more sense and you could really understand where each of them was coming from.

If you’re looking for spicey scenes you’re in luck! There are several and they are fantastic! But, if you’d rather skip over those Ramsden included a guide at the beginning to give readers an idea of when open-door scenes were coming up so you can avoid them if you want.

Thank you to Alex for the opportunity to ARC read this book!

Your Move is the second installment in the Stuart Family series. This book follows Jem and Emme, brother and best friend of the bride and groom (Delaney and Miles from book 1).

The banter was TOP NOTCH from the start. I laughed out loud at some of the insults Emme threw at Jem. I loved seeing the character development throughout the book as both Jem and Emme realized their family's approval isn't everything. Emme had known that for awhile, and it had taken Jem until now to truly realize what it looked like to not crave his father's approval all the time. The scene where Emme tells off the Stuart brother's father had me kicking my feet. Delaney deserved so much better, and Emme made sure she got it.

Learning about Jem's sexuality throughout the book was very enlightening, and it was nice to see him explore it himself. I also appreciate that miscommunication wasn't the star trope of this book! Too often I'm left wanting to scream at characters because of their simple miscommunications. There were minimal scenes in this book that made me do that. :-)

I am really hoping Elliot's book is #3. I can't wait to see the character development there as well.

I wanted to immerse myself in the book so I read book #1 in the series first. While you don’t have to do this, it gives you a better introduction to all characters mentioned in this story, including them MCs. It’s free on KU in 🇬🇧

Soooooo I’m not going to lie when I saw it was Emme’s book I was excited, this was short lived when I realised Jem was the MMC (temporarily). He didn’t come across so great in book #1 and I definitely didn’t give him the benefit of the doubt going into this. I would like to retract my initial judgment and say that I have been pleasantly surprised and am in fact a fan of Jem, possibly more than Miles. Jemme is my favourite couple!

I loved these two together and was rooting for them the entire time (once I realised Jem was on his redemption arc). The world Alex has created is easy to get sucked into and it’s so easy to immerse yourself into the story. I can’t stand the parents in either book (with the exception of Delaney’s Dad) so I’m hoping perhaps Aunt Isobel might be a Stuart Family anomaly.

Thank you again to Alex for the chance to read this ARC before it’s released, it’s out on 11th November 2024!

💼 Maid of Honor x Best Man

Emme Peters is determined to be the best maid of honor she can for her best friend, Delaney. Even if it means working together with the man she had a one night stand with. Jem Stuart never expected to be his brother’s best man since they’re still working on repairing their relationship. Now he can’t stop thinking about the maid of honor whose work building he just moved into.

I loved Emme and Jem!! Watching them both learn to open up and trust each other was so sweet. I’m also so proud of each of them for standing up to their overbearing parents. Seeing Miles and Delaney get married brought tears to my eyes. I was cheering for Emme and Jem this entire book and can’t wait to see their story progress!

Thank you to Alex E Ramsden for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!

Alex Ramsden takes the old wedding tropes and gives them new life in Your Move. Our maid of honour Emme and Best Man Jem find themselves magnetically attracted to each other throughout the lifespan of a wedding season.

Full of energy, family drama, friendships made of steel, and chemistry to set the pages on fire, our kin characters fight attraction, put out figurative fires, and try to protect their friends and hearts through it all.

I loved both of them, together and apart, from start to finish. Masterfully put together and paced, Your Move is a witty take on weddings, love, and what it means to find happiness despite family pressures.

I loved this story, and I can’t wait to read more Stuart family romance.

If you loved the world of gossip girl then this might be a series for you!

A fun little romance with a feisty FMC and a troubled MMC, I love that Jem has a lot of troubles but is genuinely sweet to Emme and doesn’t push/rush her at any point.

Great build up between them where the storyline flows nicely and feels organic and not forced for plot sake, or was great to see Del and Miles from the outside and I will be quickly getting book 1 in the standalone series to see how that played out.

A very fun easy read that’ll have you loving the banter between the characters and loving the world Alex has built.

Oh, this book! I loved every second of it. Alex is an exceptional author, and I adored reading this funny, cute, and spicy British romance.

The characters, with their big hearts and bigger personalities, were engrossing. I read through this at a quick pace because I couldn’t get enough of it. The pace, writing, and characterisation were on point. This is my first Alex E. Ramsden read, but it won’t be my last because it is one of my top books of the year.

This book is so cute! I enjoyed the characters and the way that they changed and grew. The story was addictive and hard to put down. This is technically a stand alone….but I would highly suggest reading book 1 - Two Dates. The characters are very intertwined between the two books. I think it really helps the explain the characters and their full growth if you read book one first. Also it’s soooo good!

Enemies to lovers

I was fortunate to read an ARC of Your Move and I enjoyed it. The banter between the two characters was there but the tension is what I really felt between the two.

Emme is strong willed and sassy. Which she has to be with having to grow up with nothing but brothers and a mother who pressures her to settle down with a rich husband.

Jem has met his matched when he and Emme are paired together to help with the wedding of their best friends.

Tropes:
Forced proximity
Enemies to lovers

This is the second book to the series and can be read as a standalone.

It was a fun journey with both these characters.

Would I recommend? 👍🏼 yeah
Would I re-read? Maybe.
