Everyone wants superpowers, including Alden Thorn.
But even if he's lucky enough to be one of the few humans granted magical abilities by the extraterrestrial System that's been running things on Earth for decades, his goal of being a battlefield support hero is still a long way off.
He's got determination on his side and maybe a murderous alien desk clerk, too.
The universe is a complicated place. Alden's about to meet it.
Finally current with this ongoing series on Royal Road! It is my ideal pleasure reading, because it is very in depth and detailed about the rules of the world, there are many touching and relatable character moments, and it's all simple language that keeps me engaged. Sometimes I get tired of it, but I can just put it down, and pick it up later when there's different stuff.
I recommend this to anyone with a bunch of free time, perhaps sprinkles in awkward intervals throughout your day.
Great series with an incredibly interesting and vast world. I found it surprisingly easy to read despite its almost 4000 page length. Very close to a 5 star/S rank rating, with the Moon arc being an easy S+.
I'm glad to have caught up and look forward to reading new chapters as they come out.
I haven't actually "finished" reading Super Supportive, but since Sleyca is still writing it and I've read 80% of the current content, or the length of approximately 9 novels, I figure I don't have to wait longer to write a review. Sleyca's writing keeps impressing me. I don't know how she manages to be so good at character, plot, and worldbuilding simultaneously. If you're not really into superheroes or LitRPG, I can assure you Super Supportive transcends both genres. I've been reading it aloud to my wife and we are both vastly enjoying it, although we do have to stop a lot to emote and to speculate about character secrets, the magic system, and interplanetary politics. By the way, if you have the endurance for it, this is a great readaloud. For grownups, not children--it can be very emotionally intense and involves violence and death as well as many topic areas that would be above a kid's head anyway.
This is an ongoing web serial type story that can be found on Royal Road. Kind of a mix of a sci-fi and superhero story. There is a little bit of progression here but it is very slow. One of the things that I liked the most about this story is the idea that the aliens introduced their system to Earth but they don't explain the various classes and skills very well. Which leads to humans in general to underestimate certain skills. The protagonist is a little too perfect at times and he seems to get along with almost everyone. He is supposed to be around 15 to 16 years old and in my opinion he acts way more mature than that. Also, I think too many characters share the same wit and sense of humor. There are a ton of characters in this story but the author does a good job with notes to remind you who everyone is. Overall I enjoyed the story and was addicted when I started reading it. The author states that this will be a very long series and he seems to release new chapters every 3 to 4 days. I'm on the fence as to whether I will try to follow it every week or if I will stop here (179 chapters) and reread the whole series when it is further along.
I love the writing and the characterisation is great most people feel so real and 3d. I can't wait to see how he heals from his trauma and becomes closer to stu and house mates especially and make ro-den eat his shitty words!
4/5 would recommend people who like the genre. I mostly enjoyed it, especially in the first 100 chapters. It started out as a 5/5 but the pace slowed down to be a bit too slow for me around chapter 140 or 150. Ireally enjoy the style of writing and how it feels way more realistic and many fantasy books.
This is a looong story with a mixture of slow and fast pacing. The level of detail and worldbuilding are excellent. Some of the faster chapters like the glow or the other povs are proof that the author knows very well how to build an inmerse plotline
Wonderful world-building and imaginative characters. Reading a chapter every five days means that my son and I are reading it together and our exclamations as we read are topped only by our discussions after we finish each chapter.
This story is up to chapter 239 on Royal Road now and I am still hooked. I read each chapter as soon as I can after it comes out. It's going to be a long story and I guess that it is in Sleyca's interest to string it out for the Patreon subscriptions. It suits me that way as I'll have a regular dose of Alden's adventures (currently every five days) for a long time to come.
If you don't like aliens and magic then try it for the characters and their individual journeys. Apart from our hero, there are many other characters that get fleshed out over time and the story and thinking of the alien society is also developing in a very thoughtful way. https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/637.... Read it for free and if you don't like it, you have only lost a bit of your time.
