"Replacing your own ideology is a lot like do-it-yourself brain surgery. It requires patience, tolerance, a high pain threshold, and very steady hands. Whoever you are, you already have an ideology in there, and if it wanted to come out it would have done so on its own."
Dipped back into Moldbug's early writings after discovering that he has a new Substack (and boy is it good) . . . a bit nostalgic to read back through some of the material that I had first discovered in 2008-09.
Yarvin is very much like Nietzsche: (1) hilarious, (2) a brilliant prose stylist, (3) charmingly cynical and irreverent, (4) very insightful on the etiology of various paradoxes and problems inherent in late modernity . . . and (5) completely batshit insane in terms of the proposed solutions to the aforementioned etiology. If our monarchist friend ends up hugging a horse in Turin in 2029, I will not be surprised.
