DEA Agent Greg Jennings is dead—and now they’re saying he was dirty, on the take. His widow, Sara, hiding out in the Witness Protection program after an attempt on her life, refuses to believe it, though everyone else seems to have accepted it as truth. Everyone, that is, except Drug Enforcement Administration Agent James (Mac) MacIntyre, Greg’s best friend. When yet another attempt on Sara’s life drives her out of the Wit Sec program and back home to Phoenix, Mac makes it his personal mission to protect Sara and, in the process, to clear her late husband’s and his best friend’s name. With a ruthless drug cartel hot on their heels and a mole in the agency undermining their every move, Mac and Sara find themselves literally running for their lives—even as romance tugs at their hearts. Will they unearth the truth and outrun the danger in time to carve out a future for themselves?
Stunning!! Raw, Real, drug infested, yet clean Christian romantic suspense that will leave you reeling!!
Sara Jennings identifies her DEA husband, Greg's, body, only to find he is suspected of being a dirty cop. Somehow, though, Greg's death engenders danger for Sara and Sara must enter the witness protection program, leaving Phoenix. Only her Uncle Ben and Greg's friend James MacIntyre, both part of the DEA, are left to investigate Greg's death.
Still in Philadelphia, trouble finds Sara, and Sara decides to return and face whatever demons are chasing her in Arizona. As Mac and Sara grow to care for each other, the danger escalates and broadens to include a little girl Sara befriends and Mac himself.
With plenty of taut action, drug raids, secrets and conspiracies, this book will keep your blood thrumming. It would make an excellent action-packed film for men and romance for women.
Jesus is presented as a very real, very safe haven in a world torn apart by greed, drugs, and sin. Forgiveness is an important issue Sara has to address.
So many possible quotes. Living myself near a city that can never seem to rise from the ashes, no matter how much money is poured into it, I loved these quotes: "But Sara knew it took much more than changing the physical environment to redirect the course of a life. It took the change of heart, of desire." "the people, they have not seen that without the hand of God they have little hope of change that lasts."
I received this book from bookfun.org in exchange for an honest review.
Hang on tight! This book gets off to a fast start from page one. Greg Jennings, a DEA agent is shot and killed. Who would kill him and why??? Then his wife, Sara is found to be a target. Sara is put into protective custody but found. Sara returns home using the theory that she is tired of running and Changing her whole life. Upon her return Sara discovers that her dead husband has been accused of being a dirty cop. Who is behind these accusation? And more important who can she trust? The book flows with deceit, betrayal, viciousness, greed, hatred, drugs mixed with faith, friendship, trust, forgiveness and love. The author creates an utterly believable, completely riveting storyline that holds the reader until the final word The tension was thick and well-sustained. The characters were well defined, engaging and there was undeniable chemistry between the main characters The excellent story moved at a fast pace. Each new chapter was better than the one before. Thank you to book fun.org for this eBook. My opinion is my own.
At first I was a little confused but this book took off and I found it hard to put down. Peggy Levesque knows how to write suspense! The strong characters kept me guessing as to who were the good guys and who were the bad ones. The plot holds twists and turns with an action packed pace. I hope to read more of this author's books.
I received an e-copy of Ashes in the Wind from The Book Club Network for an honest review which I have given.
I picked this book up on a spur of the moment impulse when I saw a friend recommend it on Facebook. If you enjoy police (or associated, in this case DEA/FBI) procedural suspense with a little bit of romance in the mix, then you’ll probably enjoy it too. It becomes obvious early on who the corrupt agent is, but even so, the tension remains strong throughout, and there’s plenty of danger and action (although there were a couple of times when the heroine brought it on herself by making some unwise choices).
I did find it confusing early on trying to keep some of the names straight in my head, particularly before I was certain which of the good guys were really good guys—names like Ferraro and Navarro, Alvarez and Alonzo kind of blended together. There were also many different point of view characters, including several secondary characters. Sometimes I thought they added to the story, but at other times I thought it made the story seem a little cluttered. And there was one particular editorial point that bugged me endlessly—missing commas after beginning a sentence with a dependent clause!
But all that being said, this book kept me engaged and turning the pages to find out how it all ended. And although it was definitely not the focus of the story, the little thread of romance between Sara and Mac was a nice addition.
For lovers of suspense, this is a good one. A debut book but reads like a much more mature writer. Loved how the Christian elements woven in and Sara's journey of faith. An author to watch. Also excellent side characters - Rosa and Selina, from a range of cultural and social backgrounds.
I’m thankful for the review copy of a book that took me on a suspenseful, heart-felt journey and introduced me to a new author. I was hooked from the start, “Numbness crept across Sara Jennings’ skin. Her breathing quickened, drawing in more of the pungent formaldehyde. She rubbed her palms – damp even in the chill of the autopsy room.”
Did that get your attention? I found myself reading this book every chance I could got. Main character Sara Jennings had to face the truth, her husband was murdered and no one knew who did it or why. Now the murderer was after her. Did they think she knew something? If they only knew how tight lipped Greg was and how strange he had been acting near the end, they'd realize she knew nothing.
Greg precinct seemed to think he was on the take because of his behavior! He may not have been acting like himself but deep; down she knew her man was a man of faith. He wouldn’t have done what they accused him of.
Mac, Greg’s best friend, had become very protective of Sara; he seemed to think he could protect her 24/7 but no one could do that not even Greg. She might actually have to enter the witness protection program as much as she hated the thought. Mac was really pushing her to seriously consider this option.
I liked learning about Sara and Greg’s relationship. It was sweet. I quickly connected with Sarah and could understand her fear. Sara and Mac tried to hide their feelings from one another. It had been two years since Greg was killed; but each of them felt they couldn't betray Greg and/or his memory! Would there ever be anything between them?
Selina is a little girl in the story I adored. She was the light shining in on a dark world. She was a preschooler who had an imaginary friend named Gabriel. Selina felt safe with Gabriel by her side. Selina loved Jesus with all of her heart. She listens intently as Mac explains a concept to her about Gabriel’s disappearance.
“Maybe Jesus lent Gabriel to you because he knew that, for a while, you needed some very special attention….Jesus could see what a big, brave girl you’ve become, and he didn’t think you needed Gabriel anymore. He probably thinks you’re ready to trust Him alone to feel safe?
Selina says, “I can’t see Jesus.”
Mac replies, “I see. Well, have you ever seen the wind?”
Selina giggled. “Silly. No one can."
“So does that mean the wind isn’t real? Even through you can’t see it.”
“Everybody knows that.” Selina smiled.
"How do you know?” Selina tilted her head, “Because I can feel it blow. And I can see leaves moving in the trees and when it’s really, really mad, it blows stuff all over.”
Mac grinned, “That’s like faith, Selina. You know God’s at work because you see what He does, even though you can’t see Him working. You trusted Gabriel because you could see Him right?”…What do you think, Selina?”
"…I think Jesus wants me to trust him. Nana says pleasing Jesus is even more important than pleasing Mama!..."
I like how this author naturally weaves in the spiritual thread. This novel is filled with complex characters I quickly cared about and felt for their situations. This story had some surprising twists and turns. It’s filled with suspense, action drama and a hint of romance. It kept me turning pages until the wee hours of the night wanting to see where this author would take me next.
I highly recommend this as a fun read and on that would be great for discussions at book club. There is definitely a lot to talk about. This author is one to watch. I'll be checking out more of her books.

It is hard for this reader to believe that Ashes in the Wind is the debut novel of Peggy Levesque - this gripping adventure looks as if she is a very seasoned author! It captured this reader’s attention at the very beginning, and kept it through the very last page. It was almost impossible to put down at night to sleep! Sara, the widow of DEA agent Greg Jennings, had been in Witness Protection since her husband’s murder two years before, when an attempt was made on her life immediately after identifying his remains. When a new attempt was made on her “new”, she returned to Phoenix, took her identity back, and stayed at the home of “Mac” James MacIntyre, Greg’s former partner and best friend. After her return, she learned it had been determined that her late husband was on the take, getting well paid to keep certain drug thugs from being arrested and the distribution of drugs in the area halted. And, in light of that and the length of time since his murder, his case was no longer actively being worked. Sara was convinced of Greg’s innocence, and wanted only for Greg’s name to be cleared and his murderer to be caught. Mac wanted to protect her, have her rest and be restored under the care and prayer of his Christian live-in housekeeper. He also longed Sara to come to believe in Jesus, a faith that he grabbed onto and clung to since losing his partner. Sara, however, was determined to not rest until Greg’s case was resolved. There was someone dirty on the drug task force, someone who had been preventing certain drug busts from going down successfully since before Greg’s murder. Sara and Mac, along with a few trusted members his team, devoted as much time as they could to finding the leak, even as Sara and Mac tried to exonerate Greg. Would they be able to pull it off before the unthinkable happened? I was totally into Ashes in the Wind, very much appreciating the story line, the depth of the writer’s talent for characterizations, incredible action scenes and knowledge of the law enforcement agencies, even of Central Arizona. I would highly recommend this thriller to anybody who likes action-packed novels that include the workings of various law-enforcement agencies, a dash of romance, and a battle against the bad guys to the very end. It is also a novel that reflects Christian values, so it lacks the language, sex and graphic violence that led me to seek out novels by Christian authors. Peggy Levesque is an author definitely worth following to see her upcoming Christian thrillers! I received a copy of this book through the “For Readers Only” group at The Book Club Network, in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own, and no monetary compensation was received for this review.
If you are looking for an action packed thrill ride in your next book, Ashes in the Wind would be a great choice! This book kept me on edge throughout most of the story. To top it off, this is a debut novel. A very well-written debut novel.
Sara Jennings, a widow of DEA agent Greg Jennings, is the main female character in the book. Her husband was murdered and she finds herself to be a target as well. The hero of the novel is James (Mac) MacIntyre, also a DEA agent and the former best friend to Greg Jennings. This sets up some great romantic tension in the novel! I really enjoyed the relationship between these two. They both valued and loved Greg so much, and all three of them were very close friends while Greg was alive.
Sara was a very interesting character who drove me a little crazy in part of the book with some of her choices! She was making some irresponsible decisions that I just didn’t understand and putting herself in danger. But, the author did a great job with letting us peek into Sara’s thoughts and by seeing how emotionally overwhelmed this woman was, things the character did began to make sense to me. Mac was also a great character who was dedicated to Sara and to the discovery of the truth.
I really enjoyed Ashes in the Wind. There is great suspense, lots of dangerous situations, details about the law enforcement agencies that make their missions seems very realistic, and a really sweet love story. The gospel is also presented in a clear and understandable manner. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author through The Book Club Network in exchange for an honest review, which I have given.
This is a debut novel by Peggy Levesque and I couldn't tell that this was her first novel. In fact, I didn't know it until I was almost finished with the book. This is a fast paced Christian romantic suspense book that is a page turner. I started this on a Saturday and finished it Sunday afternoon. If I hadn't had to leave the house for some things I would have read it in one sitting.
Sara's husband was killed and then accused of being a dirty DEA agent. Sara knew her husband was acting differently the last few months but she knew he would never be anything but honorable. Due to threats against Sara she enters the witness protection program. After two years she discovers that she has been discovered. She calls her sponsor and tells them she is going home. If they were going to keep coming after her then she wanted to be where family and friends were. When James "Mac" MacIntyre learns that she is returning he knows his work is cut out for him. He was Greg's best friend and he knows he has to protect Greg's widow. Just because she has returned home things aren't slowing down. There is plenty of action and suspense to keep you turning those pages and on the edge of your seat.
The characters are well thought out, the storyline is fast paced and I've found an author that I want a lot more books from. Peggy, when is your next book coming out? Hurry - you just went to my top 10 favorite authors' list.
No one asked me to recommend nor review this book. I bought it on my kindle after reading a blurb about the book. Sounded just like what I wanted to read. Wonderful book. Highly recommend this new author. All opinions are my own and any errors are also mine.
Ashes In The Wind is a story full of suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat. DEA agent Greg Jennings has been murdered. They are saying he was “on the take”. His wife, Sara, does not believe it. However, her own life is in danger and she leaves Phoenix and family to enter the Witness Protection program with a new identity. But even with the new identity they have found her and make another attempt on her life, so she decides to return to Phoenix—her home. She is determined to prove that Greg was clean! Questions plague her: Who murdered Greg and why? Why the attempt on her life, do they think she knows something?
Greg's best friend, Drug Enforcement Administration Agent James (Mac) MacIntyre is investigating Greg's murder. Now with Sara back home and in danger, he makes it his personal mission to protect her. But the drug cartel wants to stop them and is on their heels. They seam to know what their next steps are going to be. How can they know that? Is there a mole in the agency leaking out information? If so, who is it?
As clues where uncovered I tried to figure out who had killed Greg. But just when I thought I had it figured out another clue comes along making me change my mind. I enjoyed the interaction between Sara and Mac. Loved Mac's housekeeper and the little girl, Selina captured my heart. Twists and turns, betrayal, action, suspense, murder, complex characters (which made it hard to keep straight at times), romance, faith and Christian values make this a captivating story.
~I received an E-book copy of this book from TBCN for my honest review~
This is the debut novel by Peggy Levesque. After reading Ashes in the Wind, I know there will be many more books from her. Levesque keeps your attention throughout the whole story. The characters were interesting and great to get to know. I was on the edge of my seat several times wondering what was going to happen next. Ashes in the Wind is full of twists and turns you don’t see coming. Levesque gives you many different points of view helping you understand why the characters were doing what they were doing. It was interesting seeing the “bad guys” sides as well. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Fiction and Suspense.
Sara’s husband Greg Jennings is gone. Everyone’s worse nightmare is finding out their spouse was killed, and now Sara is living it. At least Sara has James “Mac” MacIntyre, Greg’s best friend to lean on. When she thinks it can’t get any worse, someone attempts to kill her. With no other choice Sara is forced to go into the Witness Security program. Being torn away from her home and family isn’t easy, especially when she has no time to grieve. A break-in where Sara is staying causes her to decide it’s time to return home to Phoenix. Mac doesn’t agree with her choice, but doesn’t have much say in the matter. Mac puts some strict limitations on her, but that only makes Sara push the boundaries. Will Sara and Mac find a happy ending? Or will her stubborn streak cause them both pain?
I received a copy of this book from Elk Lake Publishing and TBCN in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions expressed are my own.
Peggy, if this is your debut as an author, I hope you are sitting down right now and have started writing your next novel. This story was terrific. It kept me on the edge of my seat with action, suspense, tragedy, danger, forgiveness, romance and faith along with a "Who Dun It". It is well written and has well developed characters. Peggy also gives us information about the DEA and FBI and the dangers they face. Sara Jennings was placed in witness protection after her husband Greg Jennings a DEA agent was murdered. Law enforcement thought she was safe until an attempt was made on her life again. This prompted Sara to return home to Phoenix as she felt she would be just as safe there; took back her identity and refused to let fear control her life. She is staying with James MacIntyre also a DEA agent. He is fighting to bring down drug dealers and their bosses. He was Greg's former partner and close friend. James is determined to protect Sara. Greg has been accused of being on the take and Sara sets out to prove that he is innocent along with James's help. Is there someone else with the DEA that is on the take and framing Greg? Could it be someone high in the ranks or just a smart agent? How does her uncle figure into all of this? Will Sara and James become more than friends? Will Sara find her faith? I recommend this book. If you like action, suspense and romance you will love this book. Did not want to put it down.
I received this book from bookfun.org for my honest opinion and review.
Sara Jennings' is facing all the smells, feelings and surprisingly a fascination as she watches the body bag being unzipped, exposing only the face of her dear hubby DEA Special Agent Greg Jennings. Reality hits. And then the why? who?
Married only a little more than 4 years, it had been a fairy tale life until he forgot his 4th anniversary. This was so not like Greg, and things continued to go downhill from there, with many changes, silence replacing lively conversations, and being shut out, even in bed.
Greg's best friend, before Sara was even on the scene, and fellow DEA agent, Mac too struggles with Greg's death as he struggles with the guilt of having not pushed more when Greg pulled back on their friendship as well.
An explosion in Mac's car, as they are leaving the morgue, sends Sara into hiding with a new identity-and the fun begins.
There are twists and turns, love and romance, betrayal and forgiveness, and so much more in this wonderful book that you will struggle to put down. This is a quick read because you can't stop, the storyline keeps you wanting to read more. It is an action packed, clean read which brings God in without making Him or the situations seem superficial.
An excellent first book by this new author and I am definitely looking forward to reading more of her work.
Thank you to bookfun.org and Peggy Levesque for this wonderful ebook, which I was given in exchange for an honest review.
Sara Jennings is placed in Witness Protection after her husband's death. Greg Jennings, Sara's husband was a DEA agent. They'd been married for 4 years. Theirs was a wonderful marriage until some months before Greg's death, when he had suddenly become vert withdrawn and secretive. His death brought no closure as to why he had changed. However, it did bring another change to Sara when there was an attempt on her life.
James "Mac" MacIntyre was Greg's best friend. He will do anything to protect Sara. And even though Sara doesn't always make protecting her easy, he does his best to do so. After all, Greg was his best friend, and he feels responsible for Sara, except there's more to it than just wanting to protect her.
Wow! This is an amazing story! The suspense had me flipping pages as fast as I was able to read. It had me sitting on the edge of my seat, holding my breath. I just can't say enough about how much I enjoyed this story. Well, I can add that I also enjoyed the romance and the faith message, which fit perfectly into the story without distracting or taking away from the main story line. Peggy Levesque has done an awesome job creating a romantic suspense story. I find it so hard to believe that it's her first book, but I sincerely hope it won't be her last. This is definitely an author you will want to follow.
*****I received this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions, comments, and viewpoints are my own.
The gorgeous cover of “Ashes in the Wind” opens into a suspense-filled story that begins with a bang and continues full throttle until the very end. I found the book to be very well written for a first novel and I was held captive until I read the last word.
Sara Jennings, widow of a DEA agent, has been living under protection for two years after an attempt on her life shortly after her husband’s death. When her location is discovered, Sara decides to go back to her home and face the threats head-on. She is determined to clear her husband’s name as well as find the guilty parties. Although the DEA has had some success in shutting down drug traffic into Phoenix, it has become obvious that someone within their organization is playing both sides. Once they have a suspect, they cannot act without concrete evidence. The question is – can they stop him before anyone else dies?
“Ashes in the Wind” is non-stop action with scenes that had me holding my breath as Sara found herself in one life-threatening situation after another. Although there is a touch of romance, this story is primarily built on suspense and should appeal to both male and female readers. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will keep my eyes open for Peggy’s next novel. In my opinion, “Ashes in the Wind” can easily stand beside some of my other favorite suspense novels.
This book was provided for review by the Book Club Network, Inc.
“Hold your breath” excitement This is one of those stories that draws you in quickly and keeps you reading page after page. I spent most of my time holding my breath, waiting to see how the story would unfold. I also stayed up way too late on too many nights because I just couldn’t stop reading! The main character, Sara, is very likeable and so brave as she learns to live back in her “real” world after spending time in the witness protection program. She doesn’t shy away from living her life and helping others even though it puts her in danger. All the “CSI” fans out there will love this story – it’s full of drama and intrigue and good guys and bad guys. The story involves much more than just the drama of the events. You are drawn into the lives of all the characters and feel like you really know them. I liked that the main characters struggled with believing in God because of all the bad things they have witnessed, just like many of us do. The storyline is very believable, which is usually what keeps me reading a book to the end. I hope there will be more stories about this group of DEA agents – I’m sure they all have great stories to tell! I received this book from BookFun.org in exchange for my honest review.
Sara Jennings' life is turned upside down when her husband is murdered and she must go into protective custody. When she is still threatened, she is ready to return 'home' she is tired of living 'someone else's' life. Against the desire of her best friend, Mac, she returns home. When she returns, however, her nightmare just intensifies. Will she be able to prove her husbands innocence? Who is trying to kill her, and for what? Has everyone given up on proving her husband was not a corrupt cop, even her best friend and her Uncle?
James MacIntyre has been best friends with Greg Jennings since before he married Sara. It only seemed natural to become her best friend too. When tragedy strikes and he is left to pick up the pieces can he keep her safe? Why does it seem she has become a target? Are these feelings of protection for Sara only friendship or is there more?
This is a great novel by Peggy Levesque, I love the suspense, mystery and dash of romance throughout this book. If you enjoy FBI, DEA, mystery thrillers you will enjoy this book. I was given a copy of this book from bookfun.org for my honest opinion.
This was such a good story. When an attempt is made on her life, Sarah Jennings' is put into witness protection. Sarah's husband, a DEA agent, was killed most likely by the cartel. What she doesn't know is that her husband had a notebook and picture that the cartel wanted and they thought she had it. This was a fast paced story with the FBI, Drug Enforcement Task Forces, the cartel and then there are family members who are not always who they seem to be... Lots of excitement! You will find danger, explosions, kidnapping and a rescue that could go terribly wrong. I enjoyed the suspense, a little romance and that the lead characters were consistently looking to God for help. I enjoyed this good clean read and hope to see more from this author. I'd recommend this book for those who enjoy a clean inspirational suspenseful thriller with just the right amount of romance. I was gifted Ashes In The Wind by the Book Club Network (bookfun.org) for my honest opinion which I have given.
Sara’s DEA husband Greg is dead and someone is trying to kill Sara. She goes into Witness Protection, but another attempt on her life sends her back to own life. When she learns they are claiming Greg was dirty, she is determined to prove him innocent. Greg’s best friend Mac is also determined – both to prove Greg innocent and to keep Sara safe.
Mac has learned turned it all over to God. Can he help Sara learn to trust God with her life again? Are the feelings he is beginning to feel for his best friend’s widow wrong? Can they find out who killed Greg and is trying to kill Sara before it’s too late? Why was Gred killed? Who is the mole in Mac’s drug task force? Is there a connection? This book has lots of twists and turns and mysteries. It will keep you guessing until the end. I would love this to be a series. The other characters on the task force deserve their own stories! Great first novel!
I was given this book by bookfun.org for my honest review
Riveting! Dive into the world of the Drug Enforcement Administration. A model taskforce was established to bring cities together in Arizona; cooperation proving highly effective. A mole playing both sides entrenches causing havoc and setting sights on Sara, a new widow whose husband, Greg, died on assignment with the taskforce. When Greg is fingered as dirty by the agency, James MacIntyre, Greg’s best friend, and Sara can’t rest until proving Greg loyal. Problem being the mole is onto their every move and they are in too close a proximity for “Mac” to resist Sara’s green eyes and penance for trouble. Falling in love with Sara feels like being a traitor to his best friend.
I read Ashes in the Wind in 1 day and I highly recommend Peggy Levesque, who competes with Mary Higgins Clark, a favorite suspense & romance author of mine.
I received a complimentary book from The Book Club Network at bookfun.org in exchange for my honest review.
I really enjoyed this book, and was pleasantly surprised to learn that this was a debut novel by the author, as it was one of those suspenseful stories that made it hard to put down. The author made this an easy read with uncomplicated characters that made the storyline easy to follow and not have to stop and figure out who was who. Although the story centered on a wife, who had recently lost her husband through a murder, and we followed her movements constantly, it did not shy away from her constant sense of loss while, at the same time, giving her a Godly feeling of moving forward even though she doesn't know where this strength is coming from and even though she has a sense of fear. However, she still moves forward, leaves the Witness Protection Program and unbeknownst to her, God has his hand on her life by bringing a Godly man into her life.
I really enjoyed the suspense in this story, and would recommend this book highly.
This is a terrific book by Peggy Levesque. It is about Sara, whose husband, Greg, was killed while on duty with the Drug Enforcement Agency. He died under suspicion, but Sara believes he was innocent. Sara is under the witness protection program, but another attempt on her life gives her the excuse to go back home and pick up the pieces of her shattered life. Sara and Greg's best friend in the DEA, Mac, are trying to clear Greg's name. A mole in the agency makes things difficult as he wants Mac and Sara both dead. This is a fast-paced mystery and page turner. I didn't want to put this book down. There are many twists to the plot that keep you guessing. There is intrigue, betrayal, danger, and a hint of romance. It is well written. I hope there will be a sequel!
I received a copy of this book from The Book Club Network and the publishers in exchange for my honest review which I have given.
Wow, what a great book! I couldn't quit reading - lots of late nights. This is Peggy Levesque's debut novel. I hope she writes a sequel to this story.
Greg Jennings, a DEA agent, is dead. Some people believe he may have been a dirty cop, but his wife, Sara Jennings, doesn't believe it. Someone is trying to kill Sara, so she is put in the Witness Protection Program.
James MacIntyre is Greg Jennings' best friend. He tries to protect Sara and find out who the mole is in their agency. It is hard to know who to trust.
I just love how some of the characters in this story discover the need for God to get them through the hard and dangerous times in their lives.
You will be kept wondering who the bad guys are up to the end. I would recommend this book to every suspense lover.
I received this book from The Book Club Network in exchange for an honest review. I posted reviews on Amazon, B & N and Goodreads.
Ashes in the Wind is a first novel by Peggy Levesque and what a whirlwind novel it is. It kept my interest from the first page to the last. Intrigue, murder, drug running, witness protection and romance are all woven together to give readers a thrilling story. The characters are well developed and believable. Sara the young widow of a DEA agent, running for her life and trying to clear her husband's name befriends Selina, a youngster with an imaginary dog named Gabriel. Mac, best friends with Sara and her husband, must find the mole in the agency and protect Sara and Selina despite all the dangerous twists and turns in the plot. With great suspense, clear picture of learning to trust God to help individuals through difficult situations, Ashes in the Wind is a book you won't want to miss. I received a copy of this book through The Book Club Network (bookfun.org) in exchange for my honest review. I have posted reviews on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Bookfun.org and GoodReads.
Ashes in the Wind is an excellent, edge of your seat read! I prefer a suspense novel that keeps you guessing and this fit the bill. From the first pages being under attack, to that same person now a witness under federal protection not being safe, you can’t stop reading. Levesque does a great job weaving the interactions of the characters building their back stories, yet keeping the action happening. I found myself unsure who was involved in the cover up, while I was trying to figure out if there really was a cover up!
The book tells the story of a widow trying to figure out what happened in her husband’s death. She’s not safe in looking for those answers, but can’t stop. As she keeps searching, the good guys are quietly seeking answers. Meanwhile the bad guys are learning what’s happening and doing everything they can to stop any further problems from occurring.
Not much can be said without revealing spoilers. Take the time to read this book and you won’t be sorry.
Great suspenseful novel! Sara Jennings lost her husband two years ago and when her life was threatened, she was moved into the witness protection program. But, someone has found her now and wants her dead – but why? Her husband was a DEA agent but she doesn’t know why anyone would want her dead. Can she trust anyone and can she find what the enemy wants before they get her? Sara has her late husband’s friend Mac to help her but is that enough? For the reader, the author switches viewpoints so we do learn a little about what’s going on with the other side as it unfolds.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel! It has suspense and mystery, romance and rescue, no profanity and through it all the lead characters look to God for help. I highly recommend it! I received this book from bookfun.org in return for my honest opinion.
Sara’s life was turned upside down when her husband, a DEA agent, was killed. She was placed in witness protection, but that did not work, as someone tried to shoot her. With a myriad of other actions aimed at her and her late-husband, Sara did not know who to trust. This is a suspenseful, action-packed book that was very hard for me to put down. Peggy Levesque, the author of Ashes in the Wind, is a talented writer and I look forward to anything else that she may write. I recommend this book highly. Ashes in the Wind was given to me by the author and bookfun.org in exchange for my honest review. Ashes in the Wind
This book has everything I love in a novel: likeable characters, great, nerve-wracking suspense and a tad of clean romance. The widow of a DEA agent is hunted by the drug cartel, and her husband's best friend wants to protect her and clear her dead husband's tarnished reputation. Great image of the DEA agent " until God tells me different, this is where I belong, fighting an endless battle against a hidden enemy in hopes I can help prevent the ruin of some lives." Definitely a tale of good vs. evil. Fortunately, there is also a message of hope given--the presence of Christ in the lives of his children, even in this dark and fallen world. I loved the book and heartily recommend it. I received it through The Book Club Network in exchange for this my honest opinion.
I just finished reading Ashes in the Wind by Peggy Levesque. I found it to be a great read. I read it in two nights, finishing in the wee hours because I couldn’t put it down…good plot and character development, some romance, and a few surprises. So many books of this genre have foul language and a couple of steamy bedroom scenes that do not help the plot at all; this book was refreshingly clean. I will be looking for more books by this author. I received a copy via The Book Club Network (bookfun.org) in exchange for an honest review and I am so glad I had the opportunity to read this one.
Ashes in the Wind...This book moves along, taking the reader with it, smoothly, seamlessly. The author's attention to FBI/DEA detail is extraordinary. Romance? Yes. Faith? Present but not preachy. Character development lets the reader put her own imagination to work, a mark of a good writer. Other reviewers allude to the synopsis. I came right to the computer from finishing the book to give the writer a thumbs up. I don't know this writer, and I did not receive a complimentary copy. I simply like the book and would read more from this author. A plus for Levesque lies in the detail I mentioned earlier. Men would find the stakeouts and action compelling. Definitely a 4 for me.
