The Writer goes through various cycles of thought and action that continuously feed themselves. However, the Writer sees patterns among them that can be ascribed to a daily routine. They take the form of short stories, poems, opinions, and more that the readers are encouraged to lose their minds over.
This is one of those books that you just have to read! It's funny, its insightful, and just incredibly beautiful. Here's a few things I loved about it:
The books structure is made in an incredibly thoughtful (pun intended) fashion. There is no monotony in the way its structured, with every chapter bringing you a new literary style and a new set of perspectives. Read a gripping few short stories? Here's an introspective poem! The constant surprise in the structure of this book makes it so engaging, and is almost a metaphor for how the stories and poems are full of surprises.
As you read every short story and every poem, you are continuously engaged more and more. The short stories are gripping, the poems are so meaningful, and everything brings about a range of emotions that I haven't seen a book bring out before. These stories can be thrilling, but also make you introspect into your daily life, appreciating the fine details that we so casually gloss over every single day. This specifically is something I love about the book. The author's attention to detail to every small aspect of life and bringing together in stories that grip you from the start to end is just mind blowing.
What is perhaps the most beautiful aspect about this book, however, is the unraveling of the authors thought process. With every story and poem, you get a new insight on how the author views the world. You learn about the experiences the author has gone through but with an incredibly funny and thrilling twist. Whether it be characters named Pelvis and Solmon, or just a story on the author's daily commute, you can always expect to experience new emotions with every new sentence.
It was hard to come up with this list considering I love every single thing I read in this book, but here are a couple of personal favorites:
Favorite stories: Thoughts When You Have Four Days To Live, Corporate Daydream, Traitor To Oneself, Ally To All , One Last Word Favorite poems: The Trees , May I have this dance? ,How do you miss someone you’ve never met?, Nostalgic for Life P.S. Don't miss the haikus!
I do have a suggestion for the author. When you release another version of this book, add this book into your list of beautiful things. I can't wait to read the next book!
