I like beginning story time with books that appeal to toddlers because we always have some babies attending along with older pre-school age siblings. The older children enjoy these attention grabbers as much as the babies do.

This book is good to use along with a plush teddy or with a teddy-bear-picnic event where the children are invited to bring their teddies. The text prompts "Tickle Teddy's nose, paws and toes, ears and then Teddy RUNS!

Often when there is the action "running" in a story we will have the group make a running sound by patting their legs with their hands. Anytime children can be physically involved in a story we do so as it helps keep their attention.
