For fans of Ana Huang, get ready for a pulse-pounding tale of risk, resilience, and romance in the ultimate gamble for love.
Mia Nightingale Marcos is more nightmare than nightingale.
I’m handed the reins to the family business along with an inexperienced assistant barely out of high school. Not to mention, she’s distractingly beautiful and completely off-limits. I plan to be so unbearable she’ll quit, but she’s tougher than she looks. Now she appears to be hiding something and the deeper I dig, the more invested I become, causing my world to spin.
Just when I think I’ve got her figured out, she vanishes, leaving a trail of unanswered questions, sending me on a dangerous pursuit.
Jackson Soloman is the boss from hell.
But I can handle him. Balancing work by day and poker by night was a breeze until Jackson stepped in. It was easier when he was making my life hell, not trying to play hero. Now, I can’t shake him off, and with the growing attraction between us, I’m not sure I want to.
Just when I think I’ve hit the jackpot, I’m forced to fold, leaving everything behind for a chance at salvation.
Will Mia and Jackson survive the trials of deceit and danger that lie ahead? In a heart-wrenching climax that tests their love and commitment, every decision could be their last bet.
Bethany Rosa has been passionate about romance since her teenage years. After raising four wonderful daughters, she embarked on a writing career, channeling her love for the genre into crafting captivating stories. Bethany enjoys creating sexy tales featuring alpha males who fall for strong, independent women, making the chase irresistible. Besides writing, she loves to travel, especially to visit her two (soon to be three) daughters living in Europe. When not globetrotting, she enjoys time at home with her husband, dividing her days between the serene mountains of Montana and the sunny landscapes of Arizona.
2.75 - this was the last of 4 that I read & easily my least favorite. This one felt most unlikely to be real. The age gap was a bit to sketchy for me. A 26 yr old going for a 17 year old gave me the ick.
Tension, Secrets and High stakes… this story had it all and boy was I hooked.
This story is rollercoaster of romantic suspense, where fiery personalities collide and secrets simmer just below the surface.
Mia Nightingale Marcos, the sharp-witted assistant with a mysterious past, and Jackson Soloman, the gruff, no-nonsense boss who might be unraveling more than he bargained for.
From the moment these two clash, sparks fly and not the cute, romantic kind. Jackson is determined to make Mia quit, but she’s tougher than nails and won’t back down. It’s all business until things get personal, and the mystery surrounding Mia pulls Jackson into a web of intrigue and danger.
Rosa has crafted a tale brimming with chemistry, sharp dialogue, and enough secrets that kept me guessing until the last page. Jackson’s grumpy exterior and Mia’s quick wit make their dynamic electric, with plenty of moments had me rooting for them throughout…and swooning!
But this isn’t just a love story. The “danger” in Dangerous Pursuit is very real. When Mia vanishes, the stakes skyrocket. Jackson’s pursuit becomes more than just about protecting his company; it’s about saving the woman who’s stolen his heart. And Mia? Let’s just say her story packs a punch and a few surprises, some I didn’t even see coming.
If you love enemies-to-lovers vibes with a generous side of suspense, this book is for you. Dangerous Pursuit is the perfect blend of romance, mystery, and edge-of-your-seat action that will keep you engaged and rooting for the fab duo.
WOW... Just wow!!! After reading Pursuit of Innocence I had high hopes for this book... And Bethany DID NOT disappoint!! This book is so good!
After the first few chapters, I wasn't sure whether I'd like it since the age gap trope isn't usually my thing, but I ended up consuming the book. I loved seeing more of Jackson and getting a deeper understanding of his character.
At one point I really felt bad for Mia. She shouldn't have to be the one going down for her POS father and all his mistakes. And kudos to her Mom for being so loving and understanding about everything that was going on.
Don't even get me started on Jackson. If my future partner isn't like him, I don't want them 😅. But really, I already loved him in Pursuit of Innocence, but this made me love him even more. He spent 9 whole months tracking down Mia's dad. If that doesn't show you how much he loves her then I don't know what will.
🛑Please read all the author's warnings as some themes and events in this book could be triggering. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.🛑

I struggled so much with rating this one. I loved the author’s first book, especially because she did a great job of including a controversial spicy edge to the book. The same was done here, but I think it was a little too much for me. Either way, there were a lot of things I liked and some things I couldn’t get on board with.
I liked the writing style and the general spice levels. I genuinely enjoy reading this author’s work. She does an amazing job of getting the reader to turn the pages. I also liked Mia’s character. She was only 18, but she was such a strong and capable person.
Now in saying that, the age gap was what messed me up here. I’m sure it doesn’t help that I hated Jackson in the first book, and he is the MMC of this one. But aside from that, I couldn’t accept that a 28-year-old man was pursuing his 18-year-old employee. And he kept calling her his “little girl” during the spicy scenes. His predatory nature was disturbing for me.
I’m still looking forward to reading the other books in the series when they come out. The age gap just didn’t work for me here.
There was something creepy and predatory about Jackson lusting after an underage girl (his employee!) and him calling her “little girl” throughout (especially during sex) was just not hitting the mark for me. It made me feel very uncomfortable and icky. There was very little development of their relationship beyond the sexual desire between them both so their relationship was not convincing to me at all. Jackson, since the first book, “Pursuit of Innocence” was just as creepy then as he is now especially since watching Sebastian take Lily’s virginity and getting off on it … like, seriously ??
As much as this gave me the icks, I was really interested in understanding Jackson more on a deeper level but there was just no character development so I had to part ways with the book at around 70% and skim through to the end.
Mia, I felt was a stronger character but still I just couldn’t get past the underage predatory vibes this whole book was standing for.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Scorching Age-Gap Romance with All the Right Sparks!
If you’re a fan of steamy romances with complex characters and tension that will leave you breathless, Dangerous Pursuit is your next must-read! This book hits all the right spicy tropes—age-gap, workplace romance, and the irresistible enemies-to-lovers dynamic that will have you hooked from the start.
The chemistry between the leads is off the charts! Their fiery banter and undeniable attraction make every interaction between them electric. The age gap adds an intriguing layer of tension, and the workplace setting ups the stakes as they navigate their undeniable connection while trying to maintain professionalism (which, of course, goes out the window in the best way). What starts as a clash of wills between two strong, independent characters quickly turns into a delicious slow-burn romance, with all the heart-fluttering moments and explosive passion you crave in a smutty read.
The enemies-to-lovers dynamic is perfectly executed, with just the right balance of tension and vulnerability. You can feel the characters’ walls breaking down with every encounter, and when they finally give in to their feelings—wow, it’s worth the wait! The steamy scenes are written to perfection, packed with heat and emotion that will make your pulse race.
This book is not just about the smut (though it delivers on that front too!), but about two people finding love in the most unexpected of places. It’s emotional, sexy, and oh-so-satisfying. If you love a good romance with plenty of spice and heart, Dangerous Pursuit should be at the top of your list!
Highly recommend for anyone who loves age-gap tension, workplace drama, and enemies-to-lovers heat!
I was nervous for this book because I hated Jackson and thought he was THE biggest creep after Pursuit of Innocence.
Now don’t get me wrong the first 1/3 I struggled with enjoying the banter but also kinda grossed out by the age gap only because she started out at 17 and it was highlighted in every chapter. To me it’s not the 10 years gap it was just the stage in life she was in.
Now Mia is very mature for her age and seeing more to Jackson than just his creepiness around Lily I came around to. They definitely suited each other well and there is the whole he falls first/hard which I could see coming knowing how he was after Lily.
Overall it was a really good story and flowed well. The banter was great, the spice was spice’n, the extra plot around her dad etc I didn’t see going the way it did so that kept you on your toes. Finally the HEA.
Now what would have made this a 5 star to ME personally… if Mia was 20/21 finishing university fast cause she would have at least not been that coming out of high school vibes. Having an Epilogue for them because I felt the happy ending was just boom done. Although my thoughts are because they will be heavily involved in the next book so we would see there.
What a rollercoaster of emotions and romance between the FMC and MMC. From the beginning, Jackson Soloman was fighting the attraction he felt towards his underage assistant, Mia Nightingale Marcos.
"Little do they know I’m forming a much more inappropriate obsession with her."
Mia may be young, but she's more than capable of helping run a business. Her smart wit and confident demeanor have proven herself in more than just the workplace. She is also a skilled poker player, a trait she picked up from her deadbeat father.
Since Mia started working for Jackson, she was trying to earn money the honest way, but her father's past came back to haunt them. With no way out, she's forced to play poker tournaments. Jackson knows she is hiding something and wants to help and protect her, but how can he admit his feelings when their age alone is an issue.
"Fighting my attraction is one thing, but fighting the feelings bubbling up to the surface is damn near impossible. I want to protect her, care for her—I want to make her mine."
Will the growing attraction between the two finally combust, or is this just a dangerous pursuit? Will Jackson confess his feelings, and will Mia finally reveal her secret? Start the Pursuit series and grab a drink. Things are about to get steamy 🥵

Dangerous Pursuit by Bethany Rosa is a captivating blend of romance, suspense, and forbidden desire. The novel follows Mia, a young and ambitious woman, and Jackson, a powerful and enigmatic CEO, navigating a dangerous game of love and power.
The chemistry between Mia and Jackson is undeniable, and their forbidden romance adds an extra layer of excitement to the story. The author skillfully balances the romantic tension with thrilling plot twists and suspenseful moments. Mia’s character is both strong and vulnerable, making her a relatable and compelling heroine. Jackson’s brooding persona and protective instincts create a dynamic and intriguing love interest.
The author’s vivid descriptions and engaging dialogue bring the characters to life, drawing readers into their world. Overall, Dangerous Pursuit is a well-written and entertaining romance novel that will leave you wanting more. If you enjoy a mix of steamy romance and thrilling suspense, this book is worth checking out.
Bethany Rosa did an amazing job with this book!! The storyline and then the spice was just…*chefs kiss!
Mia is a very grown up 17 year old who lives with her Mom who works very long hours. Mia plays poker yo help pay for bills and groceries since her father left years ago. Her mother gets her a job as her employers sons assistant. She is not happy about it and Jackson is the ultimate bosshole.
Jackson is the ultimate bachelor. He goes from one hookup to the next without any desire to settle down in the near future. That is until Mia becomes his assistant and she is off limits because she is underage. He has to do everything in his power to control his urges.
The connection and chemistry that Jackson and Mia have are off the chart.
Normally, I don't read age gap stories, but this one had me hooked. I really like that he waited until it was right but also how he had he back even when she was lying. He did not give up to save her. Loved how she never backed down.
Another great book by Bethany Rosa! To say I am officially obsessed with her series would be an understatement. She killed another book. This book was 🥵🥵. While I can admit, the age gap usually isn’t my thing, this book was still amazing! It was interesting, spicy, & you can’t help but fall in love with the characters she creates! Mia & Jackson get off to a rocky start (especially with him being a “Bosshole”) but he quickly falls & gets a soft spot for her. She just turned 18 & doesn’t know what to do whenever he starts showing interest in her. I simply couldn’t put the book down towards the end. I cannot wait to see what Bethany comes out with next & I will be following her closely anticipating what comes next in The Pursuit Series!
Dark romance girlies, I have your next favorite book! If you're looking for a dark or billionaire romance with similar vibes to the Twisted series or the Made series, you should check out The Pursuit Series by Bethany Rosa.
Dangerous Pursuit by Bethany Rosa is a dark billionaire romance and the second book in the Pursuit series. This series is described as a rollercoaster of drama and romance and I can't think of a better description for it.
This book delivered in all the ways I was expecting. This was a quick, fast-paced, and highly entertaining read. This author has a way of writing the interactions, chemistry, tension, and yearning between the characters in an absolute *chef's kiss* way.
Dangerous Pursuit is a perfect mix of romance, intrigue, drama, tension, action, steamy moments, and plot twists that you wouldn't expect! This book is more than just a romance, it's also a thriller that will have you not just rooting for the characters but a plot that has you on the edge of your seat desperately needing answers.

I may have enjoyed this book more than Pursuit of Innocence and I'm excited to see what's next for Bethany Rosa!
I received a copy of this as an ARC in exchange for my honest review….
The Rundown:
• Sexy MMC “bosshole” • Virgin FMC with serious brains • A ten-year age gap • Workplace romance that’s as intense as it is forbidden
Looking for a workplace romance with some heat and a plot that packs a punch? Here it is! These two start off hating each other, then falling for each other, only to be torn apart by life’s curveballs.
Jackson, our broody, cocky alpha from Pursuit of Innocence, returns as Mia’s tough-as-nails boss. Mia, meanwhile, is a smart, determined almost-18-year-old with something to prove. Jackson doubts her maturity and skills, but she’s more than ready to surprise him…and does she ever! Attraction comes into play, and feelings are both denied and forbidden… until they’re not. While you don’t have to read Pursuit of Innocence first, it’s definitely worth it to understand the history of these unforgettable characters.
Dangerous Pursuit The Pursuit Series, Book 3 By: Bethany Rosa Narrated by: Aaron Shedlock, Ruby Hunt, Teddy Hamilton, Michael Gallagher, Ava Erickson
Bethany Rosa pens another fantastic novel, the third in “The Pursuit” series, an age gap romance, that draws you in right from the start and holds your attention captive straight to the end. Having met Jackson Soloman in the first book’s story, I was looking forward to learning more about him, wondering if he would find his forever girl after he missed his chance with Lily, his sister’s best friend. Jackson is running the family company, and his assistant was going on maternity leave in six weeks. His meddling parents took it upon themselves to hire a temporary replacement, the seventeen-year-old daughter of their house cleaner, who was starting college in the fall. Jackson was not happy about their hiring someone with no experience, despite having her start early so she could learn the ropes from his current assistant before she leaves. And when he sees her, he knows she has to go because she is a temptation he does not need, especially since she is ten years younger than him and not even legal yet. Mia Nightingale Marcos hates seeing her mom work so hard, but when her father left them, she became their sole income. Her father was a gambling addict, and they were better off without him, but before he left, he taught Mia everything he knew about playing cards, which she excelled in. Without her mother knowing, she was playing in tournaments to help them financially and build for a future, but with this new job she can put that behind her and live her life like a normal teenager. Mia is happy to start her new job, and training is going well, except for her boss, Jackson, who is an arrogant jerk, but she isn’t letting him get to her. Jackson is trying to make her life miserable, so she leaves on her own, but that backfires, and then when he sees her outside of work, playing cards with the big leagues, he wants to know more about her. He also notices things are not right with her, and he looks deeper into things. The more time he spent with her and got to know her, the more intrigued he became, and while she was off-limits, his thoughts went to the future when she turned eighteen in two months. Mia finds herself in trouble, thanks to her loser father, and she keeps it all to herself because she does not want to bring anyone else into her mess and to keep her mom protected, except she is in way over her head. There is never a dull moment in this book, a multi-layered story with non-stop drama, angst, some thrilling and suspenseful moments, twists and turns, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. And once again, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Bethany Rosa, thank you for another fantastic story and wild ride.
🎧📚🎧 This incredible lineup of talent, Aaron Shedlock, Ruby Hunt, Teddy Hamilton, Michael Gallagher, and Ava Erickson, did an amazing job bringing the characters to life, giving each a voice that was fitting and believable. Shedlock nailed it as Jackson, grasping every aspect of his personality, and Hunt was just as fabulous in her role as Mia. Teddy Hamilton, Michael Gallagher and Ava Erickson’s contribution covering and reprising roles from the earlier books was fantastic at voicing and portraying their characters. They set the ideal tone for the story, and their expressiveness conveyed all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling each one. It was a pleasure to listen to their entertaining performance, a performance that rivets you to the story.
When Jackson gets stuck with an almost eighteen-year-old as a secretary. He does everything he can to get her to quit. But in this game of wits, Mia turns out to be a dangerous pursuit for Jackson.
It's been so long since I felt this giddy reading a book. I had to cover other parts, so I didn't see a spoiler. I stayed up till 3 am. so I could finish it. I want a Jackson Soloman, the man that he is. He literally moved mountains for his girl. Come hell or high water, he came through for his girl. He did everything to get her back. I was in love with him before, and now I'm irrevocably in love with him. These last chapters, he had my heart in his palm to do with as he pleased. You wrote this book so beautifully; it's been so long since I read a book that I absolutely loved, and thank you for that. Sebastian walked so Jackson could run. I loved Sebastian, but Jackson had my whole heart; he lives rent-free in my mind.
Jackson got on my nerves in the first chapters. He didn't have to be mean to her just because he was attracted to her, and there was nothing he could do. The 360 that Jackson went through knocked me off my feet, too. From being a boss hole to suddenly being nice. I hope he grovels a bit. I want him to earn her smiles, trust, and everything.
I wanted Jackson to grovel a bit more because he was such a boss-hole. But I never meant for him to suffer. I mean, he grew on me – the 360 that he did. He was such a gentleman and so hopelessly in love. I knew why they were so happy when there were lots of chapters left. Speaking of plot twists, I didn't see this one coming. My heart is breaking for Jackson. There's a reason he is older, and boy, is he wiser. I love how calmly he handled everything; I never thought that's how it would turn out. But it turned out better than I imagined. I retract all my earlier grievances with you, Jackson.
There were times I had to remind myself that there's a reason eighteen still has a teen to it. Mia had me feeling out of sorts at times. But my girl still came through at the end of the day. And looking at the big picture, that's what matters; she did come through and Jackson made up for all that Mia made me feel.
Walker and Mia's friendship is goals. All the friendships in this book were top tier – definitely goals. I also want attorney friends, not them thinking critically about Jackson's problem. Braden was hilarious; he took a two-week vacation so his job would get easier for him.
Cici being loyal to Lily is cute. Asking Mia to marry Jackson so they can be sisters because her best friend slot is taken was so cute. I'm looking forward to Eli and Cici's book. Why do I think? We are getting another love triangle. You write them so well, and I know the Dubree brothers are winners as always. I hope we get to meet the girl who'll finally manage to have Braden wrapped around her finger and so head over heels over her.
Thank you, Miss Author, for writing this masterpiece. It's been a long time since I read a book that made me feel this satisfied after reading it.
As with Pursuit of Innocence, this story had just enough edge and tension to keep me listening way more hours in one sitting than I should have! Sleep? What’s that? lol
I’m gonna jump to the age-gap aspect of this story before I say anything else because, reasons. Age-gap stories are one of my favorite tropes to read, as long as they’re done correctly. There are a lot of nuances to “age-gap” that can make or break an experience for me. The 10(ish) year age-gap between our leads is a solid gap and is one that I enjoy and gravitate towards. This ten year gap is between a teenager and what I consider still a “new adult” but really close to “adult”. For me, if you’re under 30 years old, you automatically fall under the category of new-adult. This is a “me” thing and how I categorize, not some industry standard or formula. That being said, for me, this gap isn’t eyebrow raising in the least. He’s just not old enough to raise my eyebrows and she’s not underage so *shrug*. However, some of the dynamics that the author tried to incorporate didn’t work at all, specifically him using “little girl” as a term of “something” towards her. It just didn’t fit him or her, and it was used enough times that I literally screamed out loud … many many times! LOL Anywho, this entire paragraph is just to say that although there is an age-gap between the leads, the “trope” age-gap doesn’t work for this story, for me.
About the rest of this story … the sexual chemistry and relationship building between Mia & Jackson were great for me. I was invested in their success, and I liked them for each other, if that makes sense. The sub-plot/mystery with Mia and her extra-curricular activities was a little cliché and predictable and took up a bit more time in the story than I would have preferred. I would have much rather seen them building their relationship that all of those “other” shenanigans, but it’s not my story to tell and it was good either way.
🎧This audiobook is another duet-style performance with multi-casting for the supporting/secondary characters, and I just cannot tell you how much of an impact this made for me. This type of narrating style is the sweet spot for my listening experience and having this high quality cast leveled it up even higher! 🎤Aaron Shedlock and 🎤Ruby Hunt performed as Jackson & Mia, our main characters, with 🎤Teddy Hamilton, 🎤Michael Gallagher & 🎤Ava Erickson rounding up the cast as supporting roles. Aaron’s voice and style were perfect for Jackson’s character. He has a “subtle alpha” quality that isn’t overt which makes him perfect for Jackson’s age bracket and personality. This was my first listen by Ruby, and I will be keeping an eye out for future narrations that she does! I loved her voice so much! ✨Sidenote: The casting in the stories that follow this story and the stories before, stay true to the casting of this story and that makes me even happier about this entire audio experience!
Dangerous Pursuit by Bethany Rosa is a heart-pounding and captivating novel that masterfully blends high-stakes romantic suspense with an irresistible, scorching age-gap, enemies-to-lovers dynamic. This electrifying story is brilliantly brought to life by the extensive narration team of Aaron Shedlock, Ruby Hunt, Teddy Hamilton, Michael Gallagher, and Ava Erickson, whose performances perfectly capture the tension and fiery personalities.
The story centers on Mia Nightingale Marcos, a sharp-witted assistant with a mysterious past, and her gruff, no-nonsense boss, Jackson Soloman, a powerful and enigmatic CEO handed the reins to the family business. From the moment they meet, sparks fly—not the cute, romantic kind, but the explosive friction of two strong wills colliding. Jackson, who sees his "distractingly beautiful and completely off-limits" assistant as inexperienced, is determined to make her quit. However, Mia is tougher than nails and won't back down. This workplace battle, featuring a classic "bosshole" trying to break the rules and a protagonist trying to play by them, quickly turns personal as the irresistible enemies-to-lovers tension takes hold.
This book hits all the right spicy tropes—age-gap, workplace, and enemies-to-lovers—making their journey from a clash of wills to a delicious slow-burn romance truly electric. The chemistry between the leads is off the charts, fueled by their fiery banter and undeniable attraction. The steamy scenes are written to perfection, packed with heat and emotion that makes their eventual surrender to passion entirely worth the wait.
But Dangerous Pursuit is far more than just a love story; the "danger" is very real and keeps the stakes sky-high. Mia is juggling work by day and high-stakes poker by night, leaving a trail of secrets. As Jackson digs deeper into the mystery surrounding his assistant, he becomes inextricably invested, causing his world to spin. When Mia vanishes, forced to fold and leave everything behind for a chance at salvation, Jackson's pursuit becomes more than just about protecting his company; it's about saving the woman who has stolen his heart. The secrets surrounding Mia pack a real punch, and the suspenseful moments, filled with risk and resilience, will keep readers guessing until the final page.
Rosa has crafted a tale brimming with complex characters, sharp dialogue, and a captivating blend of romance, mystery, and edge-of-your-seat action. If you love enemies-to-lovers vibes with a generous side of suspense, or are a fan of authors like Ana Huang, this book should be at the top of your list. It is an emotional, sexy, and utterly satisfying tale of two people finding love in the most unexpected—and dangerous—of places.
Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
If you’re looking for a romance that’s more than just love and lust, Dangerous Pursuit delivers a gripping mix of heart-pounding suspense and steamy passion that’s impossible to put down. This isn’t your typical romance…it’s layered with high-stakes drama, deep secrets, and an edge-of-your-seat story that keeps you hooked from start to finish.
Mia is no ordinary heroine. At just 17, she’s fresh out of high school after graduating early, and her mother lands her a job as a temporary executive assistant for Jackson Soloman. Jackson, a no-nonsense boss with little patience for her inexperience, isn’t here to make things easy. Their fiery enemies-to-lovers dynamic sets the stage for a romance full of tension, witty clashes, and unexpected vulnerability.
But this story isn’t just about romance, there’s real danger at every turn. Just as Mia starts finding her footing at work, she’s blindsided by shocking news: her absent father has saddled her with $200,000 in debt owed to dangerous figures. With no one to turn to and explicit instructions to keep her predicament secret, Mia must navigate her mounting challenges while keeping her head above water.
The plot masterfully weaves sizzling chemistry with suspenseful twists. From high-stakes poker tournaments to the lurking dangers of Mia’s father’s debt, every moment builds on the last to keep the stakes high. The banter and chemistry between Mia and Jackson are electric, shifting from antagonistic to heartfelt as their connection deepens.
What I loved most about Dangerous Pursuit is its ability to balance fiery romance with gripping suspense. The twists and turns (some of which completely caught me off guard) make this book impossible to predict, while Mia’s resilience and Jackson’s journey from antagonist to protector create a relationship that’s equal parts satisfying and heart-wrenching.
If you’re a fan of age-gap romance, workplace tension, or enemies-to-lovers tropes, this book is a must-read. But what truly sets Dangerous Pursuit apart is the suspense, the poker games, the looming debt, and the very real dangers Mia faces that elevate the stakes. Rosa has crafted a rollercoaster of emotions that will leave you breathless.
Highly recommend for anyone who loves their romance with a side of danger and a whole lot of heat!
I have SO been looking forward to Jackson’s story! After meeting him in Pursuit of Innocence with Lily & Sebastian, I couldn’t wait to see who he was matched with.
With that being said, if you’re in the mood for an age gap, billionaire romance with an obsessive, grumpy MMC and a shy, determined FMC then this book is right up your alley. Be prepared, it does a have few twists — the suspense is really taken up a notch in this book!
I loved the instant attraction that Jackson felt toward Mia on her first day working for him. From that moment, you knew it was going to be good. The chemistry was palpable, and the slow burn was burning as feelings grew between Jackson & Mia. The build up to their relationship led to some seriously steamy moments that were long awaited.
I can’t say it enough how well developed and thought out the characters in this book are. Loved seeing Lily, Sebastian, Eli & Cici again. The friendships and relationships between them all really adds so much to the story.
The tension was TENSE - the pull that Jackson felt towards Mia was crazy. The way they fought their feelings was impressive, however once the dam finally breaks it explodes! It was great to see Jackson grovel a bit over initially being a jerk to Mia when she started working for him. I loved how Jackson’s patience and thoughtfulness really helped Mia come out of her shell. But that doesn’t mean she made it easy for him, it was awesome to see her put him in his place at times! She is such a brave, bold, and fierce FMC; after being put in a tough spot she is just doing the best she can.
I couldn’t get enough of Jackson’s protectiveness and how relentless he was; he would not give up until he had the opportunity to be with Mia again — time was the only thing that could keep them apart.
Absolutely loving the Pursuit Series! Can’t wait to see what is next! Thank you so much to Bethany Rosa for the early copy of Dangerous Pursuit! It was an incredible read.
Ok, I'm sorry, but where is the Jackson model and where can I order one?!
Mia Nightingale Marcos is a quick-witted 17-year-old who is mature beyond her years thanks to having to step up when her father left the family thanks to his gambling addiction. Jackson Soloman is a stubborn businessman who is used to getting his way. When his parents hire Mia to work as his assistant while his current assistant goes on maternity leave, Jackson is determined to make her so miserable that she quits. However, he was not ready for the emotions she would stir in him. Fighting his attraction as well as the issue of her being a minor, Jackson does his best to distance himself from her. But when Mia falls into some trouble associated with her past, he will do everything in his power to save her.
Bethany Rosa is a wonderful storyteller! This enemies-to-lovers tale will leave you demanding more with every turn of the page. The suspense was through the roof throughout the whole book, keeping me guessing as to what dangers awaited to the pair. On top of that, I was literally drooling with anticipation for the steamy moments because the buildup of tension between the two was so well done. Despite Mia's age, she is a fierce woman and a perfect balance for Jackson's standoffishness.

Coming into this story, I was not planning to be a fan of the age gap trope, but it really worked for these individuals. Mia's overall maturity as well as Jackson's protectiveness meshed so well that it didn't matter to me that they were 10 years apart. While this ended up being a relatively spicy book, it was also a heartwarming and suspenseful one as well. I definitely recommend this one! I mean, I'm headed to snag book 1, so I'll see y'all next round!
Get ready for a high-stakes romance that will leave you breathless!I liked this one...the workplace romance...that banter.... especially my fav. Poker games have a special place in book....it perfectly fits... Hope you all like it 🫰🫰 special thanks to Torch Lit Ink @torchlitink And @bethanyrosa.author for this opportunity
Blurb : She was a good girl trying to play by the rules. He was a bosshole trying to break them. Now she appears to be hiding something and the deeper I dig, the more invested I become, causing my world to spin.Just when I think I’ve got her figured out, she vanishes, leaving a trail of unanswered questions, sending me on a dangerous pursuit. Will Mia and Jackson survive the odds stacked against them? In a heart-wrenching climax that tests their love and commitment, every decision could be their last bet. Mia is a young, hard working girl, struggling with some family issues, many of us face. Despite this she is surprisingly strong, intelligent and even daring. It is easy to believe that she’s survived the cut throat threats and clawed her way every possible way. She is a far cry from the nieve, mousey girls we often see in this genre.
Speaking of the enigmatic bosshole (Sorry, Jackson? Lol), he's the romantic fantasy alpha male, older than Mia, always controlled? professional exterior beats the heart of an intense, sexual dominant. Are you swooning yet? I know I am.
The plot was compelling and intriguing, and I found myself trying to guess what would happen next. The characters were well-developed and dynamic and they came across very clearly. I was pleasantly surprised by the way the author keeps me hooked on the storyline. I could hear Jackson and Mia voices clearly in my head. I could picture them easily. I loved their interactions, they were real and cute and funny after they both getting to know each other but it's not like that in the beginning, I loved their banter at first. I really cared about the characters like their jobs, friends, family dynamics - and not just what went on in the bedrooms, offices, etc.
Enemies to lovers. Age gap tension. High stakes. High heat. Dangerous Pursuit is one of those stories that sneaks up on you with its sharp edges and soft heart. From boardrooms to back-alley poker games, Bethany Rosa takes us on a fast-paced ride packed with crackling chemistry and suspenseful twists.
Mia Nightingale Marcos is more than just a mysterious assistant—she’s resilient, resourceful, and hiding way more than she lets on. Jackson Soloman? Grumpy boss energy on full blast. He’s cold, calculated, and determined to push Mia out of his orbit… until he realizes he can’t.
Their dynamic starts off tense (and a little too fixated on Mia’s age at first), but once the story shifts gears, it becomes about trust, protection, and passion that won’t quit. The suspense element adds another layer, especially when Mia disappears, and Jackson’s pursuit becomes personal in every way.
I loved how fiercely both characters cared—especially Jackson, once he drops the boss act. He’s 100% "I’ll burn the world for you" vibes, and Mia holds her own throughout.
Why 4 stars? The initial setup with Mia being underage for a chunk of the story made me pause. While the author clearly tries to establish boundaries and consent, it may be uncomfortable for some readers. But once past that, their connection felt real and emotionally charged.
If you’re a fan of Ana Huang-style drama, slow-burn tension, and protective alpha energy, this book is definitely one to pick up. Mia and Jackson bring the fire—and a little danger too.
Dangerous Pursuit follows Mia, a soon-to-be college student and Jackson, boss of a property management company. Jackson’s assistant is going on maternity leave so he needs a temp stat to help him run his business. While he was thinking he’d get one from a temp agency, his parents surprise him and tell him they hired Mia, the teenage daughter of the cleaning lady they employ, for the job. He is furious as he thinks Mia will be immature and inexperienced as he needs someone skilled to hit the ground running to maintain his fast moving business. Well, Mia isn’t an immature or lazy teenager. She is wicked smart, has drive and is a fast learner. Before he knows it, she has the ropes down and is becoming a great assistant he needs. And did I mention he has the hots for her?
With some forced proximity, an attraction begins to grow. As he spends more time with Mia, the more he learns about her. And as he thinks he has her figured out, she surprises him by showing up at one of his poker games, as a player. And an expert player at that. How did she become this good? Is there a secret Mia is hiding that she doesn’t want Jackson to know? Read to find out!
This is my first book from Bethany and I loved it! We love a feisty and brave heroine and the slow burn and tension?! It had me screaming for Mia and Jackson to be together asap. And also screaming due to miscommunication. And Walker, Mia’s friend? Love! He was hilarious and such loyal friend.
Can’t wait to read her other books in the series. Thank you Torch Lit Ink for the opportunity to read this as an arc. Order your copy today!
I have been OBSESSED with this series! I still can't wait to get to the next book and still enjoyed this book but I did have a hard time with Mia being 17 almost 18 and Jackson being 26. Don't get me wrong Mia was more mature then most people in their 30s but it just didn't feel right with them having a thing for one another with her being young. So in my mind I changed her age so I could enjoy this more.
The narrators Aaron Shedlock, Ruby Hunt, Teddy Hamilton, Michael Gallagher and Ava Erickson were amazing! I loved listening to their voices. They will hold your attention and entertain you through the entire book.
Mia is sent to work for Jackson by his parents. At first these two do not hit it off. She calls him a bosshole! But these two did have great banter. As they start to get to know each other things start to change. Especially when he finds out she keeping a secret from him that could put her in danger.
Mia works during the day and plays poker at night to make enough money for her and her mom. Life was easier before Jackson steps in and now things are getting more complicated. These two have such strong chemistry. I loved getting to know both of them and watch their characters evolve. I just wish Mia would have been a few years older. But I still think this story was worth listening to and I can't wait for the next book.
I would recommend this book and this series!
Thank you Bethany Rosa and Home Cooked Books for allowing me to listen to this ALC for my honest opinion.
*arc read* Man this book was everything I didn't know that I wanted in an age gap romance. Jackson is a gentleman to his ore and wants nothing more than to worship his obsession. in the first chapters he can be a lot when you are in his head. however he is going through the pros and cons of talking with someone that much younger. but when he makes up his mind. let me tell you we all benefit. Mia is who I wanted to be when I was younger. She is brave, caring and outwardly super confident. Inwardly she is a hot mess of self-consciousness that is us all. In this story our Heroine deals with something that is life altering in the most elegant way she could. While falling for our ex-playboy hero. It was the perfect mesh of plot, twists and turns, with a healthy dose of spice. I only have one complaint, and I promise it really is a me problem not a author problem. There is a part in the book where our couple in not in the same area. And at that time I feel Bethany used a realistic time line. So it took longer than I would have liked for our couple to be close. There honestly was a lot going on in that time and it was needed for the book. I am just not a slow burn or realistic timeline girly. I want it to be right now. At the detriment to my self, I am an instant gratification queen lol. I really think if this is a book you decide to pick up. You will be thoroughly entertained. Bethany did an amazing job.
1.5* First half is okay, but the plot spirals out of control after that.
Oh boy. What just happened? The first half of the book is just okay, but then the plot just goes crazy. I found it really hard to like Mia as she’s 17 and at times she’s really childish and immature, at others she’s really mature. Mia finished high school early. As she’s so incredibly intelligent her mothers employers (Who she cleans for.) demand that she works as their son Jackson’s personal assistant. SHE HAS NO EXPERIENCE AT ALL, and they insist that she works for Jackson temporarily. 😂🤣 It’s stupid!
Jackson is 28 and at times he seems really immature too. He’s taken over control of his parents company, yet they force him to employ a 17 year old. Jackson is vile to Mia at the start, doing everything he can to make her quit. All while he’s fantasising about Mia and at times it’s disturbing as he calls her ‘His little girl.’ 🤮 Gross. Anyway, somehow they fall in love and it’s seriously unbelievable.
Mia is in danger from loan sharks because of her dad, and there’s a whole convoluted plot with the baddies, Mia and the FBI. I skimmed through a lot of the second half as it’s beyond ridiculous.
It’s a shame as at times this book was okay, but the plot was so unbelievably ridiculous that it spoilt it. I really wish the author had made Mia older as well. It felt really gross at times as she came across as a little girl.
