It is an ok story. I wish there would be more build up to the romance. I personally didn’t feel that any attraction between the characters was deserved, it just happened. Also MMC was contradicting himself a lot which absolutely didn’t make sense. At the same time I can see that some people might enjoy the book much more than me.

This book just made me happy the entire time. Our rake is not a cruel one just a man that fears love cause what happens if it ends. Meliah is a woman that sees an opportunity to get a head in life. I like books where the couple has opportunity to be alone and grow in their emotions/feelings for one another and this book does that in that Meliah joins the Earl on his way out of town. I thought that even though it was pretty much instalove there was a good amount of background of both characters so that we care about and see their POV. The only thing I would have liked is more from when she met his father, the scene in the carriage would have been nice. It’s open door without being too descriptive. This is my first book by this author. Thank you for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

"The Hunt for Mr. October" is the 10th book from the Rake Review series.
Elwood Tyburne is a scoundrel and the next Rake is called out for his scandalous behavior by the Brazen Belle. He wants to lie low, until everything passes, but sadly the gossip about him will not go down that quickly. Then in the picture comes lady Meliah Newton, who wants to be a respected journalist. If she helps him to clean his reputation, she will be able to prove herself. But neither of them expected the sizzling attraction that hovers around them. An attraction that slowly turns into deep love.
Even though Elwood only feels lust towards Meliah, with every moment they spend together he sees that she is brave, smart and honest. On top of that, to him, she was the most beautiful woman. She is also a good influence on him and, with her help, he changes into a proper man. Meliah also can't resist her attraction, but under all of his layers, she sees a wonderful man who wants to change. A man that could be her fate.
Overall, their love story is light, fun and very sweet, and I enjoyed reading it ♥️.

New month, new Rake Review! The tenth book in the collection just released, The Hunt for Mr. October by Tabitha Waite and this rake fights the hardest against his inevitable redemption!
Elwood Tyburne, the Earl of Belmont is your classic rake. He’s loved and loved many lady so obviously he’s been keeping a close eye on the Rake Review for his name to appear… when it does he is shocked to find that the women of London won’t leave them alone. He can’t leave his house without being heckled and accosted!
Time to escape the city!
Miss Meliah Newton, maybe the daughter of a Weaver, but she has big dreams of becoming a published author and moving above her lot in life. And she has a plan! In order to get her novel noticed and published, she is going to write an article about the latest rake exposed in the rake review and either redeem or villainize him further!
Miss Newton joins Belmont’s escape to the country and fights off his advances and her growing attraction to him as she researches her subject!
This was an interesting take on redeeming the rake. Belmont has a good heart, but his reluctance to marry and fall in love like his parents results in him choosing the easy and roguish way more often than not!
As a peer of the realm, his attraction is even harder to overcome. The class difference is noted by both Elwood and Meliah.
I really liked how Tabetha Waite wrote this class different romance. The difference what brings them together, but still pushes them apart. Sometimes this trope can be written to fantastical, but I feel Waite kept these characters real and their relationship development natural.
This book definitely keeps up with the Rake Review standards to deliver another great novella! The Rake Review remains one of my monthly highlights!

I liked the fact that this one looked a little bit more at thoughts on who The Brazen Belle might be. Granted, Elwood had a thought of 0.2 seconds on who it was but that was obviously wrong, but both he and Meliah were wondering. I'm curious to see if we find out about her or if her identity will stay hidden through the rest of the series/seasons.
I liked Elwood's change as he spent time with Meliah. He definitely needed to be smacked in the beginning because he was everything The Belle wrote about him and more. And he leaned into it. But as he spent time with Meliah, I liked him starting to wonder. I did find myself laughing when he admitted to himself that he might end up turning into his parents but he wasn't so upset by it.
Meliah's choices were interesting. Her thought process on trying to improve or disprove The Belle's original article was actually inspired. I would have liked to see something about her book at the end, but I'm going with the thought that publishers were scrambling to publish, if only to be able to claim they'd gotten her book. I did want to smack her when she tried to say she'd marry Matthew. Her reasons were understandable, but she was kidding herself in thinking that she'd ever be able to grow into a loving relationship with him.

So after the Rake Review releases, Elwood tries to escape London and the scathing remarks from The Ton regarding his rakish behavior. Miss Meliah Newton convinces Elwood that she can write an opposing article to dispute The Belle’s article (she is also hoping that her article will kick-start her own writing career) so she hitches a ride to get to know Elwood better in order to write the article.
Once they are alone (with the staff) in his father’s hunting lodge they begin to get to know each other and that is when the real story begins (no spoilers, sorry/not sorry).
This a wonderful addition to this fabulous series!! This one is an enemies-to-lovers, spicy, banter-filled story that kept me turning pages and enjoying Tabetha Waite’s writing. She is a new-to-me author and I will definitely be reading more from her!! ♥️🔥🔥📖

This novella is a fast, easy read with low drama and a few open-door intimate scenes.
The FMC is the likable daughter of weavers from Spitalfields. She aims to better her station in life through merit and not marriage. She’s hoping to get her novel published, but nobody knows who she is, so she needs to make a splash in the publishing world.
MMC is the most recent victim of the Brazen Belle in her gossip sheet, The Rake Review. The FMC decides that writing an expose will bring her to the attention of publishers, and then she’ll be able to publish her great novel.
The event that brings the two main characters together feels unbelievably contrived. Once I suspended that disbelief, I came to like these characters greatly and enjoyed the journey to happily ever after.

It was a much needed palate cleanser after the previous book I've read. And what an utterly pleasant surprise it was!
I remember reading a novella by this author some months ago and not enjoying it much, but this book was wonderful!
Beautifully sexy and hot, the story was full of amazing chemistry between the hero and the heroine.
Elwood and Meliah were so gorgeous together, the tension between them palpable and hot. And the intimate scenes they shared? Scorching. All of them (iykyk😉).
Lovely, joyful (and spicy!) book, definitely one of the best in the series!

This is such an interesting class difference story.
Meliah who wants to be a writer, wants to prove that Elwood, an Earl is not the terrible rake that he is portrayed as when he was named Rake of the Month.
She sets out with him to his hunting box to interview him. He has other ideas.
There is such great chemistry between them, lots of humor, spicy scenes and some wonderful secondary characters.
I thoroughly enjoyed this well written, couldn't put it down story.

Tabetha Waite will always be special to me as I actually met her and had lunch with her. She took time out of her family vacation, to meet with me and my husband. So nice. This is my 40th book by her and I started reading her back in June, 2020. I love her writing and I know I'll always get a good read.
I really liked Elwood and Meliah. I loved their personalities and their story. Such a good read.

This novella is the newest addition to the Rake Review series, which has been such a fun part of my reading this year.
I enjoyed The Hunt for Mr. October overall, though I didn’t connect with the characters as much as I’d like. It’s still worth reading as part of this fun series, though!

I liked the premise, but an Earl "keeping the heroine hostage-ish" with her admittance, grated a little bit. I mean who would say no to a peer? But the time they spend together is actually sweet.

Elwood Tyburne, the Earl of Belmont, is the latest rake to be singled out by the Brazen Belle, a gossip columnist bent on exposing society's most notorious rogues. Although he is the first to admit he is a bit of a scoundrel, he has attempted to lay low for the past month doing respectable things and being seen in respectable places. Alas, this did not save him. Knowing full well he will now be hunted by every match-making mama, he does the only thing he feels he can do - hide away in the country for the next month until the fervor dies down. He wants no part of settling down and be exposed to "feelings". He'd rather not love at all as it would only result in pain when that love is lost.
Meliah Newton is an aspiring writer looking for her big break in order to get her novel published. She needs proof that she can be taken seriously so why not capitalize on the biggest scandal of the month? What better way to get noticed than publishing an exclusive interview with October's seemingly unrepentant rake proving that he indeed has no redeemable qualities. So she hunts him down, corners him in his carriage on his way out of town and demands she gets her story. So what does a rake do when confronted by a beautiful, bold woman who piques his curiosity? He invites her to ride along, promising her his full story once they arrive at his hunting box. The next month might not be so boring after all.
This was such an easy story to read and I mean that in the best way. I found Elwood to be completely charming, a bit scandalous, but full of promise. His reasons for not wanting to love are relatable in some ways. You have to be brave to love and not give in to the fears of the unknown and possible heartache. Meeting Meliah who's so sweet, kind, generous and selfless shows Elwood the benefits of loving someone for the moment and every possible moment you're given. His fear of loving and losing becomes less when faced with not being able to love Meliah at all.
Tabatha's writing shines in this story with a unique storyline, loveable, engaging characters, filled with warmth and lightness. Perfect for readers looking for a low angst, cozy afternoon read with a dash of spice. The grand gesture at the end is one of my favorites!

Thanks to the author for an ARC of this book, part of the Rake Review shared series. Sometimes it’s nice to read a bit of fluff, it’s like a break before getting back to more intense reading. That’s what this is—a bit of fluff, a quick read, and a pleasant break. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed it.
When the Brazen Belle names Ellwood Tyburne, Earl of Belmont as “Rake of the Month,” he knows exactly what to expect, and resolves to avoid it at all costs. Every other rake has found himself madly in love and married by the time the next rake is named, and Ellwood is anti-love. He will never fall in love, and has resolved to avoid marriage as long as possible, just like every other rake. He thinks he’s different. How quaint.
Meanwhile, Miss Meliah Newton, daughter of weavers who own their own shop on the outskirts of London, has decided that a weaver’s life is not for her. She dreams of bigger and better dreams and wants to publish a book she has written. To effectuate that goal, she believes that writing a counter-article about Lord Bellmont will establish her as a respcected writer, increasing her chances of success publishing her book. She is convinced that she can discover some hidden aspects of his character that will redeem him.
Meliah finagles a way to spend time around him and, although she finds some very positive information about him, she also discovers why he’s a rake. Although they are attracted to one another, and both toy with the idea of marriage (separately, of course), it can never work between them because she is a commoner.
Despite a predictable plot, the story is well-told and well-written. I could complain about the use of adjectives when adverbs would have been appropriate, but most people won’t notice that anyway. The important thing is that the story was written in such a way that I could easily see myself there and feel the emotions of the main characters. I now feel rejuvenated, ready to take on real life, because this book is clearly fictional and boasts a happy ending. Isn’t that what all of us really want?
When the Brazen Belle names Ellwood Tyburne, Earl of Belmont as “Rake of the Month,” he knows exactly what to expect, and resolves to avoid it at all costs. Every other rake has found himself madly in love and married by the time the next rake is named, and Ellwood is anti-love. He will never fall in love, and has resolved to avoid marriage as long as possible, just like every other rake. He thinks he’s different. How quaint.
Meanwhile, Miss Meliah Newton, daughter of weavers who own their own shop on the outskirts of London, has decided that a weaver’s life is not for her. She dreams of bigger and better dreams and wants to publish a book she has written. To effectuate that goal, she believes that writing a counter-article about Lord Bellmont will establish her as a respcected writer, increasing her chances of success publishing her book. She is convinced that she can discover some hidden aspects of his character that will redeem him.
Meliah finagles a way to spend time around him and, although she finds some very positive information about him, she also discovers why he’s a rake. Although they are attracted to one another, and both toy with the idea of marriage (separately, of course), it can never work between them because she is a commoner.
Despite a predictable plot, the story is well-told and well-written. I could complain about the use of adjectives when adverbs would have been appropriate, but most people won’t notice that anyway. Let me start by saying I have read all the books in this series and enjoyed them all. This new addition for October is super. The characters are perfect. Elwood Tyburne was hiding out in his townhouse. He has just been chosen by the Brazen Belle as the next rake to be raked over the coals in print for his sinful ways! He has stopped doing everything and even went to church and gave up his mistress too! Still every time he steps out, he has upright mothers attacking him. Till things settle down all he can do is leave London and go to the family hunting lodge. (Note one has to remember this is regency England and this “hunting lodge” is nothing like you're thinking!”} Wow, I want one. The last thing he expected was to be accosted by a lady in his own house. Miss Meliah Newton wants to be recognized as a writer, she has written a story but knows no one will publish it. She needs to have something in print. So, she has come up with a plan, she is going to interview the newest Rake in the papers and prove the Brazen Belle is wrong. That the Earl of Belmont is not as bad as she said. She didn’t think this would mean following him to his hunting lodge, unchaperoned! Now what could go wrong with this plan?! Oh, the witty, sexy banter between these two is great. One super experienced and the other an innocent but super curious. Meliah is super attracted to our handsome rake, and our rake is taken in not only by her beauty, but her determination and knowing what she wants in life. This story is a ton of fun, with just the right amount of intrigue and steam. Plenty of secrets and feelings too. Will they follow their hearts, are accept society’s rules? A commoner and an Earl just wasn’t done. What will this family and her family say? To find out how it all turns out you need to grab the book and get started. The ending will surprise you and the only thing I would have really loved was to know what happened to her book? I received and ARC from the author and wish to thank her. This is my honest opinion and am freely giving it. Can’t wait to see who Novembers rake is?

The Hunt for Mr October is the 10th book in a multi author series called The Rake Review. It can be read as a standalone as the only thing that connects the stories is that the heroes of each book feature in a gossip column by anonymous author The Brazen Belle outing them for their rakish behaviour. But this is a fun series so I do recommend you go back and read them all.
Elwood Tyburne, the Earl of Belmont is the latest Rake to be called out for his behaviour. Wanting to lie low for a while he arranges to secretly spend a few days in his hunting lodge – away from the accusing eyes of the Ton.
Meliah Newton is a weavers daughter with aspirations to become a writer. She is an avid fan of the Brazen Belle and would love to discover who the mysterious writer is. She hits upon the idea of writing a piece on the Earl of Belmont confirming that he truly is a rake which might finally gain her recognition and access to ‘The Belle’. Chancing upon him as he is leaving the city the Earl proposes she spend some time with him to get the story she needs.
Can Meliah risk everything for her dreams and grip onto her respectability – since he seems so determined to seduce her to his side? For what could the future hold for an Earl and a weavers daughter?
This is an entertaining read. I liked Meliah’s resilience and determination to achieve her dreams. This is the tenth book in the Rake Review series, a multi-author collection of shorter books, each focusing on a Regency rake. The premise of the series is that an anonymous writer is calling out London rakes, one per month, in a gossip column. While the Brazen Belle is writing about these rakes in order to warn society misses against them, she has oddly achieved a 100% success rate in getting them married off so far.
Enter Elwood, Earl of Belmont, heir to a marquessate. It’s the end of September and he just feels in his bones that the Brazen Belle has him in her crosshairs for October. He has been a bad, bad boy.
And he’s correct. October’s issue reveals his scandalous behavior and makes an infamous celebrity of him. He decides to hide out at his hunting box and avoid the possibility he might get pinned down by love as the 9 previous victims of the Brazen Belle have been.
Miss Meliah Newton, weaver’s daughter and aspiring writer, has decided that the only way her novel will see a publisher’s press is to prove her mettle by writing an article about the rake of the month. When she discovers who the latest rake to be skewered in the review, she hopes to follow in the footsteps of the Belle and make a name as a writer and journalist for herself, but by writing about the latest Rake, and perhaps his story straight from the horse's mouth. Using her connections, she confronts Ellwood in his home before he makes his escape from the city.
Ellwood, giving in to some of his admittedly rakish tendencies, rashly makes an offer to the lovely, bold and intriguing Meliah, for a chance at his story, and perhaps a wee bit of entertainment for himself. He offers for her to join him at his hunting lodge, and to stay with him to gain the story for herself.
A differing social status, road trip/forced proximity historical romance. Ellwood eschews love, being a bit jaded and disbelieving in it, despite witnessing it in the love matches of his own parents and others. He is not expecting to fall in love with the commoner to entices to follow him in a lark. A cute, sweet, steamy romance that was fun to read.

Uncaged Review: What a truly fun and fanciful tale! In this story, Elwood Tyburne, Earl of Belmont was not happy. The gossip rag “The Rake Review” has declared him an un-marriageable rake that must be avoided. Elwood was in truth that, but he didn’t want to be declared as one. So, Elwood’s only way not to be judged so harshly by the ton is to hide away from London in his father’s hunting box. Unfortunately, Miss Meliah Newton, the weaver’s daughter and aspiring writer, laughed at his escape costume and wanted to know if the outlandish stories of his behavior are true? Elwood will give Meliah exactly what she wants as long as she goes with him to the hunting box. As Meliah stays with Elwood, she finds out his true nature and falls for him, but knows in her heart that they can never be together. Of course, when Elwood finds out who Meliah really is, will he still want to be with her anyway?
This novella was just utterly delightful! Okay, the improbability of the classes between these characters was not likely, but if you could get past that and suspend some belief, then this could totally happen. Besides the truly excellent writing, the plot twists and the wonderful characters are really what makes me believe anything can happen, even a rags-to-riches story that will just make me laugh and smile. Sure, the book is part of a series, but Ms. Tabetha Waite pulled me into the novel, and I was sad to see it end. Elwood might have been a rake, but I didn’t mind and if rakes were this ultimately nice, then they could be as rakish as they want. Meliah was also a charming, feisty heroine that I would love to be friends with as well. I can’t wait to read another tale from Ms. Waite and eagerly look forward to more of her stories too! The Brazen Belle has done it again, this time naming Elwood Tyburne, Earl of Belmont as the latest rake ladies should take heed of, in the Rake Review. And so to escape scores of angry women, Elwood leaves London for his father’s hunting box in the country, but not before he is accosted by Meliah Newton, an aspiring writer who hopes to determine the reasons for his rakish ways.
This is a class-differences, forced proximity romance. I loved the first half of the book where Elwood walks the line between rakish rogue and kind benefactor. It’s in the small scenes where he is constantly surprised by Meliah (and his reaction to her) that the reader sees his vulnerability and his possibility of changing. Meliah is a spunky daughter of a weaver, and although somewhat näive, she doesn’t back down from a challenge with Elwood being her latest. To see a man brought down by a woman he can’t completely have, is a favorite microtrope of mine and it was always fun to see Elwood scrambling with his words, feelings, and actions.
This novel has some very memorable steamy scenes involving a bathtub, blindfold and restraints, and a solo encounter viewed from within a wardrobe. The steaminess is balanced by the sweetness (and desperation) of the second half of the book, and readers will love the final grand gesture. This was a solid romance and a high note for the Rake Review series as it had everything I enjoy about this type of character. I received an early copy from the author. All opinions are my own.

The October edition of the Rake’s Review has Elwood Tyburne, the Earl of Belmont as their main feature, something he really didn’t want. He doesn’t want his fate to be like all the previous Rake’s Review’s subjects before him- married. Meliah Newton is a great fan of the Rake’s Review newsletter. She would love to meet Belle, who writes the scathing commentary on each month’s Rake. She dreams of becoming an author herself, leaving her family business. She decides to go to speak with Mr October to see if he’s as bad as Belle suggests he is. In disguise she goes to his London home to speak with him, he’s on his way to his country hunting lodge to escape the chaos that the Rake’s Review has created for him. He tells Meliah if she wants to find out what he is really like, she will have to come with him. Right from the beginning there’s an attraction between them. She’s not like anyone he’s met before. It’s a fun, steamy read between two people from different backgrounds who find love when they least expect it but is Elwood ready or able to marry the only woman he’s ever loved? You’ll have to read to find out! I really enjoyed reading this book. It gave me nice fuzzy feelings as I read of Elwood and Meliah falling in love. The plot has a great pace and the author writes beautifully with lots of detail and description. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys steamy stories with low angst and great characters. While the premise of this one was really cute and promising, it fell a bit flat for me.
I quite enjoyed how I was instantly pulled into this story with our FMC's plan and all the forced proximity it guaranteed. While I did think the idea was really far-fetched, I still went with it and was looking forward to seeing our two characters interact in such close quarters. The tension was there and we got some very satisfying steamy scenes. Loved that our FMC was inexperienced but really passionate and open.
Both characters were easy to like, I had no problem with them at all, they just felt pretty surface level though. I couldn't say I really knew them after finishing my reading, which was a let down for me. However, the characters were too inconsistent for my liking. One minute they said something, the next they changed their mind, on and on and on. Their reasoning was hard to follow. I did like their families a lot, simply were the cutest. Get me all the great families that are understanding and welcoming, I'm a sucker for that in historical romances because I feel it's more rare.
The relationship was super insta-lust which I'm not a fan of, especially if it stays on a lust level till the end. Talking of love after 3 days together usually gets me rolling my eyes. I needed more buildup to this romance to believe such a change of heart from our characters. So really, while the idea was fun and I was entertained throughout my read, it missed some depth to really sway me.

The Belle has captured Mr October even though he tried to hide.
I loved everything about this story.
Elwood just knows he is the next victim of that dratted brazen belle however he is determined to not become the next victim of wedded bless or love because of this belle but when a determined writer sneaks into his carriage as he is prepared to leave and hide, things take a turn for him.
Meliah has never done anything to ever warrant a frown from her parents, she is the daughter of weavers however she dreams of becoming a writer just as popular as the belle but she must find and interview Mr October aka Elwood, and see if he is truly a rake like the brazen belle suggests he is, once she is in his carriage, she quickly finds that he is a gentleman rake.
Once these two get to know each other the sparks fly instantly, passion ignites, and despite the differences between their social classes they feel like they are meant for each other. He makes her feel free and she makes him feel an emotion he never thought possible: love!
A hunting lodge, fun servants, vineyards and love this story has it all..
I can't wait to see what Tabetha has in store for us next.

An enjoyable addition to The Rake Review series!
It was nice to read a story where the characters had no previous connection before their time together. An emotional tale of two person from opposite sides of society coming together at first at odds with each other, but then upon peeling back layers and opening up to one another, they find that they're on the same side - in love.
I like how the characters in these latter stories of The Rake Review are conscious of the other month's previous. Thus the story opens and Lord Belmont believes and knows he'll be chosen for the gossip column. He just wasn't sure what month he'd be picked. So, knowing this, he had already started to curb is wicked ways. It was very nice to see him have a heart and deeply care for another person.
I was disappointed that a couple of the threads were not tied up at the end. One for Meliah Newton was that she didn't get to have her novel published or have it remarked upon that it would be so. And the other lose end was that she wanted to find out who the Brazen Belle was, the person who is picking a rake each month and warning the ladies of the Ton about them in the gossip column. There was no follow up to her investigating who the Belle was.
I wonder if the reader will ever know who the author of the column will be. There's just two more books in the series to find out!

Close Proximity Seduction
The Hunt for Mr. October is the tenth book in the multi-author series, Rake Review. This was a new to me author and was a fan of the writing and spice level.
I enjoyed the plot set up and found it intriguing and different from others in the series. I liked both the MC. Watching the hero unravel as Meliah got to know him was fun because he didn’t completely unravel to a center of goo. I liked that he maintained some structure even with the depth of feelings he developed. Meliah was curious and kept getting stuck between doing what was expected of her and following what she wants. She goes back and forth a few times but it seemed natural that she would be so torn when she’s presented with a chance to do so for the first time. Both the MC had loving and caring parents that played a role in directing what they truly wanted.
I loved the grand gesture at the end, what I found as a nod to one of my favorite early 2000s rom-com.
There was a few things within the story that I wished could’ve been brought full circle. With each of the stories in this series being less than 200 pages, it’s understandable that there isn’t always room for these things to fit.
There are three encounters that includes light bondage and a self pleasure/voyeur scene. Their consummation scene is the last one for the story but found it was incredibly steamy.

There are three encounters that includes light bondage and a self pleasure/voyeur scene. Their consummation scene is the last one for the story but found it was incredibly steamy.

A little marvel with a definite fairytale quality!

An impossible romance - she the working-class girl with an ambitious dream, he the titled cinnamon roll rogue with a reputation - they find themselves nearly alone in his father’s hunting lodge where he’s planning on waiting out the wave of unwanted attention the Brazen Belle’s Rake of the Month article caused.
It’s all fun and games until this bright brazen young lady digs her way deep under his skin and unknowingly claims her stake on his heart. She just wanted to tell the story of a glib entitled libertine and earn enough recognition to realise her dream, but once she spies his heart of gold, she’s finds herself falling without a chute.
Sadly everything eventually comes to an end... even dreams.
Grounded and proud, she’s a realist, yet brave and smart enough to grab all the opportunities her first vacation offers. He knows exactly how privileged he is and isn’t afraid to share - he just doesn’t need for everyone to know his business.
They both come from loving homes, but their class difference colours their expectations of life, love and the future.
It’s a pretty simply plot but with marvellous detail, a bathtub scene to die for - it’s not what you think, it’s better! - and some swoonworthy grand gesture grovel at the end.
It’s short, spicy and playful with a splash of drama; a great little page-turner to get lost in for a few hours!

A Rake In Distress
I really loved this incorrigible rake! The amusing story is very well written and has instalust and class disparity tropes, endearing characters and lots of steam.
Elwood Tyburne, the Earl of Belmont is a notorious rake who enjoys his lifestyle and stands by his behavior. He doesn't want to fall in love like his parents, but only believes in lust and desire. But when his worst nightmare comes true and he appears as the rake of the month in the Rake Review, he is horrified. Suddenly he is chased by irate women and has no choice but to prepare his escape to the country.
Meliah Newton is the daughter of weavers who will eventually take over the family business, but her dream is to become a writer and publish her novel. To increase her chances, she plans to write an article about the current rake of the month that confirms or disproves the truth of Brazen Belle's report. So she hunts down Mr. October and tries to persuade him to give her an interview.
But Elwood has other plans. He persuades the attractive Meliah to accompany him to the country to seduce her…

Elwood Tyburne, the Earl of Belmont knew he was going to be the next rake to be brought down by his misdemeanours. The Brazen Belle has him in her sights and will make sure society knows of his failings. But he doesn’t care to become like the others and find love or his true worth. He wants to continue on his path to debauchery and scandal. Hie is jaded not believing in love. Having his darker deeds exposed he attracts the attention of all and sundry including Meliah Newton a budding author who needs a catalyst to bring favourable attention to her writing skills. She is not of the ton, she is but the daughter of a weaver who is low on the social scale. Perhaps an article about this rake of the month will bring her the exposure she needs to become a successful journalist. So she hunts out the elusive Earl of Belmont. She’s in trouble though as she draws him in like no other and he tempts her with his lusty appeal. Soon they become entangled in a battle of wills. Just who will win and how will they achieve a HEA when they are just not right for each other. Read this gem of a story you will not be disappointed.
