Dr. Monica Greenwell was married. Unfortunately her husband was reassigned elsewhere than their home in Ny. They tried to make it work but he became emotionally abusive and caused issues whenever they went out. She finally divorced him and made a move to get away from the town that signified hurt and failure. Now her two friends are helping her move to her new place in the mountains. On her first night there is an accident out in front of her house. She rushes out and has her friends help her get the injured man into her house where she cares for him. The next morning when he awakes he tries to leave quietly but doesn't make it. Raul was out the night before drinking when an altercation arose and he fought. He had to leave hastily when there were more fighting him. He crashed his truck and when he awoke found a beautiful but unknown woman sitting watch over him. He heads home and his brothers suggest he make up for his boorish behavour and make a sort of grand forgive me gesture. As he is getting ready to do that gesture he discovers humans in his trees. When he goes to investigate he discovers the woman who saved him with her two friends. As he goes to take her flowers he sees she has company. But when the man tries to hit her he transforms into his wolf and saves her. She goes to a spring ball to look for him to ask him questions. She sees him there and he tries to leave without answering her questions. She follows and he shows her why his injuries healed fast. She is shocked and intrigued. She is also attracted to him. They part but he has a mystery he needs to unravel. He takes his brothers and they find the witch who he saw that night of the ball. She gives them a warning. Now the brothers must prepare for what could happen. Amid all the trouble coming Raul is attracted to Monica. But how can they be together when it is forbidden comes with a deadly outcome. Will the pull they have to each other override the danger? A fascinating story with lots of energy, danger and possible love.

Monica is a doctor that is in the middle of a divorce from Jack Donahue. So she has moved from the city, to the suburbs and got a job at the Shandaken Medical Center up in the Catskills. Learning what Jack had done to Monica was upsetting. Her friends Erica and Stacey came for a visit and boy they are hilarious when they are together. Monica just wants peace, and then a storm hits so her friends are stranded at her place overnight. They hear a crash and they find a hurt naked man in a truck. All three women think he is hot, but Monica goes into triage mode. When Raul wakes, he just wants to go home to Dawson, which is in the valley nearby. He is a bit of a jerk and of course, Monica and friends don’t understand why he is so grumpy and that he leaves while still hurt. But, it is because he will heal quickly due to being a wolf shifter. He has two younger brothers, Sam and Raymond, and a younger sister Nora. Finding out how and why he was hurt before the crash made me livid. His Alpha is a piece of work. How the brothers interact with each other is hilarious, they act like 10 year boys half the time. I laughed a lot in this book and teared up. Learning about Raul’s family’s past was fascinating and meeting Helena- all I can say is wow. So much happens in the book. Helena is looking out for Raul’s family because she knew their grandfather. The fight scenes are awesome. There are some spooky and scary spots in the book and where I want to hit both Raul and Monica. I felt bad for Monica because she is thrown into the deep end of the supernatural without floaties. lol. Being a doctor, she is a scientist, so it really throws her for a loop. There are a bunch of things that go total mayhem in the book and Raul and Monica falling for each other is sweet, when they aren’t misunderstanding each other because of cultural differences. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

This whole book felt disconnected to me. There are some things that I think Martin did very well. I really liked how our human heroine Monica had a lot of trouble accepting the supernatural world around her. It felt genuine, and it’s not something we get that often in paranormal romance.
But so many aspects of this story happened because they needed to happen. There were a couple of characters who were deus ex machinas on repeat, consistently showing up to share key pieces of information or opinion, many of which could have been delivered earlier (in some cases, years earlier). There are bad guys that appear because, I guess, we needed more bad guys at that moment?
And the whole shifter culture didn’t make logical sense to me. For example, Raul tells Monica to keep their existence a secret—and she then immediately tells her best friends about it, and there’s no repercussions from that. There are moments like when someone becomes an alpha of a pack but does almost nothing to follow up on being a leader. We learn things about some of the shifters, but they’re just thrown out there and left hanging.
There were just too many missing puzzle pieces to make a coherent picture out of this book. The result is that its intriguing ideas got lost in a shuffle of conveniences and a meandering plot.
This is a wonderful read, great characters and a storyline that is riveting and enjoyable Monica had left New York as fast as she could as she was escaping an abusive relationship and is now working in a small-town medical center that is based in the Catskills and she is finally starting to hope that she will see a happier start to this new life. Her friends had helped her to settle in her new home and when there is a terrible accident outside her home and she had gone to help and as well as it being in the midst of a violent storm and discovers a man that is not only naked but also mysteriously injured. The interest as the story unwraps and you begin to discover what actually happened to the injured man Raul and the fact that he has realised that Monica is in fact far more important to him than she could have realised as humans do not have the same ability to instantly know they have met someone very important. I do not want to spoil the surprise and spoil the plot so will not say any more, I am sure that other readers will enjoy this book as much as myself. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

Unexpected Alpha’s Claim is a steamy book one in the author’s new Bound by the Howl series. The story opens as Monica Greenwell who is seeking peace of mind has relocated from New York to a small town in the Catskills, soon to start a new job with Shandaken Medical Center where she is looking forward to hopefully working less than ten hour days and being far away from an abusive ex husband. During a rainstorm the first night in her new home a truck crashes outside her door and it’s unconscious and wounded occupant is in need of medical care which she provides. When he regains consciousness she is unable to stop him from leaving and that might have been the end of it. Raul Crawford is an alpha wolf shifter and on returning to thank Monica for her help that night finds her being attacked by her ex husband and his wolf doesn’t like that! Their story will soon turn into one of mystery, suspense, intrigue, secrets, the supernatural, and passion in a nicely written adventure of fate, love and new beginnings as Monica finds herself having to come to terms with a reality and world she never imagined existed, and opening her heart up to love again.

Monica has fled New York City to get away from her abusive ex and her grueling job at a NYC hospital. The small town medical center in the Catskills should allow her to breathe and enjoy life. She will miss seeing her two besties on a regular basis, but New York isn't so far away that they can't visit. Arriving two weeks early may have been a mistake, but her friends made the trip to help her settle in. When there is an accident right outside her home, in the middle of a violent storm, the three women hurry to help. Monica can't believe her eyes when she sees the huge, naked man who was driving the truck. The accident seems to have left him unscathed, but the deep claw marks on his body are definitely life- threatening. Where did they come from, and what happened to his clothes?
So starts a thrilling adventure into the supernatural for a down-to-earth, logic- seeking doctor. Werewolves, witches, and vampires? No way. Right? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Unexpected Alpha’s Claim is the first story in the Bound by the Howl series which I thought to be quite suspenseful and is a definite page-turner. I absolutely ENJOYED reading this astonishing paranormal romance book. Author Miranda Martin has created another captivating paranormal romance story which I absolutely fell in love with while reading. Unexpected Alpha’s Claim follows the journey of Monica and Raul who are fabulously developed, entertaining, enjoyable to learn about, interesting, and absolutely intriguing. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about Monica and Raul as well as witnessing their love come to fruition throughout the book. In my honest opinion Miranda Martin is a fantastic storyteller and an awe-inspiring writer. Unexpected Alpha’s Claim is a paranormal romance book which I would give as a suggestion to those who enjoy reading wolf shifter romance books. I can’t wait to see what else Miranda Martin will write for her next book.

Excellent start to this new series. Monica moves to the small town in the Catskill’s to work in their hospital and get a new start on life after her divorce. She doesn’t expect to find a naked man in his truck that he wrecked right in front of her house. Nor does she expect to see that he is completely healed when she finds him a couple days later! Her doctor mind is asking questions a mile a minute!
Raul has gotten in another fight with his Alpha and crashes on Monica’s doorstep before he gets home. He knows she is more to him that just a human, but he leaves her behind because it is forbidden to mate with humans. If his alpha finds out her will kill her and Raul.
This book is full of action, emotion, a witch, wolf shifters and vampires! It pretty much has it all! Can’t wait for the next book to come out!.

Couldn't find the plot! I love a good shifter romance and maybe I got spoiled by too many rejected mate themes that I hyperfocused when I come across one that isn't. I just couldn't find a plot to focus on. Raul a shifter was at odds with his pack. Meets human Monica who is leaving her prior bad relationship. They meet and the chemistry is there. Boom he reveals himself she tells her friends, and then the other stuff in-between (sorry no more spoilers) but alas still couldn't find a plot for the purpose of their situation. Not a bad read but there was no umph for why they were together and Monica's reasons made no sense for them to be apart. The danger towards Nora Raul's sister was thrown in but no true reason why it would cause a rift with Monica and Raul other than to cause Raul to rise against his enemies to reach his full potential but still that was minor.

Monica flees the big city of NYC to rebuild her life. Monica chose to start over in a small town, after her divorce from an emotionally draining, long distance marriage. Monica is a doctor and do that anywhere. Monica's world turn's upside down when she rescues a naked man after he crashes his vehicle Raul is a wolf shifter and the naked man. He owns a motorcycle shop with his two brothers. He is drawn to Monica, but knows better than to pursue her. It's strictly forbidden for him to have a relationship with Monica. Monica is also drawn to Raul. Even more so after he comes to her rescue and let's her in on his not so little secret. They keep being pushed together, but can they resist the pull??

From the outset this book kept you riveted. The main characters were great and the storyline excellent. Having had an abusive relationship Monica moves to a quite country town or so she thought. Her first night there she has to attend to a naked injured man, Raul who has crashed his car. It's not long before she realizes that she is attracted to him but he's not what he seems. She then embarks on a quick journey into the paramoral of werewolves, witches and vampires. Will she be able to come to terms with what he is and get her HEA or will she flee back to the city? A great read and looking forward to the next in the series. I received a free copy via Booksprout and I voluntarily leave this honest review.
Miranda Martin brings us another great story that grabs you from the first chapter to the last. Monica leaves the big city to get away from her ex-husband. Vowing off men, she saves a man from a wreck and nurses him to health. Raul is a wolf shifter that finds himself attracted to a human woman that saved him. Being with humans is against his packs rules, but he can't stay away. The attraction is to strong. Now he and Monica will fight to be togther. Thersx plenty of mystery, intrigue, fate, steam, love, action, danger, it's whimsical with a happy ending.

'Whatever he had chosen, I would support it. Raul had done nothing but treat me with love and respect, things that certain human beings whom I had wasted way too much time on had had no idea how to do.'
I really enjoyed this book! It was a fun, fast paced adventure. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Monica and Raul. I liked how their relationship developed- how fate kept bringing them back together even though the stakes were so high. I was quickly hooked to the page. Nearly all the books I've read by Miranda Martin are alien romance, so it was fun to read a shifter story. 5 stars.
Foretold love. Monica watched as her marriage crumbled. Her ex had verbally abused and embarrassed her one too many times. Knowing she was the topic of gossip she only wanted to get away, so she moved to the Catskill Mountains for a reprieve. She didn't expect to be rescuing a beefy chunk of man from an accident in front of her home. Not in the market for a new relationship, she finds herself attracted to the guy. Raul wakes to a doctor's ministrations and walks away without leaving his name or thanks. After all, it's best to limit his contact with the human. The romance between these two reluctant lovers is fraught with danger and adventure. A great read.
Monica moves to a small cabin in the Catskills and encounters Raul. Monica had filed for divorce after her once loving husband became controlling and abusive then left New York. Taking a job in a small hospital in the Catskills she move to a small place nearby. Her two best friends help her move but before they can leave a rainstorm hits and they have to stay the night. A sudden crash has then running outside to find a truck has hit a tree and the driver is still alive so they drag him inside.

Raul and Monica make the perfect pair. Especially when they're forbidden. The prophecy says so. But yet is it really true? So there are a lot of twists and turns in this book. Definitely action-packed. There are a lot of rules that have been broken but isn't that what they're meant for? Raul is in for what needs to be done. Raul wants Monica as his mate. And he will ruffle anyone's fur to get her! Loved all the characters good storyline.

I really enjoyed this story by Miranda Martin. She is one of my favorite authors. I can't get enough of her stories. I can't wait for more in this series. Monica is a doctor who left the city to heal and find some quiet. She doesn't get that though after she saves Raul. Raul is a shifter and an outcast. Monica is brought into a new world. Raul has two things now to fight for his legacy and his mate. Will they work things out?

An interesting story. Monica is a doctor and moves from New York to start a new life after an abusive relationship. On her first night Raul crashes his truck in front of her home. She rushes out to help the injured man. Raul wakes up and leaves quickly, much too quickly for a guy in a car crash. Their journey begins.

Something new and unexpected. I loved the back and forth between Monica and Raul. As well as her struggle to come to terms with her expanding worldview of shifters and the paranormal. Add in her baggage from a failed relationship and the dangers Raul's pack has inherent from others, makes for an adventurous and steamy romance. Loved it!.

3.5 really. I will start saying I'm a fan of Ms. Martin books but for some reason I couldn't connect with the characters of this story, and it took me longer to read it. This is a kind of forbidden/second chance romance between a wolf shifter and a human. Stars kind of slow but have a start to pick up at like little more than 25% of the book.

Bound by the Howl… Dr. Monica Greenwell was looking for a fresh start when she decided to leave New York City behind and relocate to a small town in the Catskills. Her plan is immediately derailed when on day one she meets Raul and everything she thought she knew is challenged… I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
Oh this was a fantastic wolf shifter book. She's the one he's been waiting for. The reason he needed to become the Alpha, he was always meant. I can't wait for the next book. I highly recommend you read this book.

This is not as well-written as her other books. There wasn't enough background for the two main characters, and they had no depth. I felt that I knew more about the witch who was helping them. I liked her, but I didn't understand why she'd be so helpful to Raul, considering her history with his grandfather. This book was painful to get through- it didn't flow as well as her others.
A doctor moves to a small town to escape her toxic ex and discovers a whole new world - starting with a naked man wrecking outside her house. Merging with his world of shifters and other supernaturals is not without its risks but is worth it in the end.

Monica leaves NYC to escape her abusive ex. She moves to a small town to start over. Raul crashes his truck and she comes to his aid. He's more than a man and knows she is his future. Loved this story with danger, many emotions and supernatural things going on. Received a free copy.
What I really liked about this story was Monica's curiosity about the mystery of Raul and his unexpected entrance to her new life. But more happens than just an accident outside her home and Monica finds herself involved in a situation beyond her understanding.
I liked how the readers were introduced to this universe through the eyes of the character Monica. Great story with romance, action and mystery. I want to know more about the witch.
