It’s a simple sentence carved on a school maintenance shed wall, but it’s a message a Domme can’t ignore. Especially when Vera meets the man who wrote it, and he’s nothing like any submissive she’s encountered before.
Rev is a janitor at a middle school, and possesses a singing voice that “calls the soul home” in his family’s church. He’s the most spiritually mature and intuitive person Vera has met, a man good at caring for others; the school kids, his church congregation, and his family. But the relationship he yearns for with a woman is a challenge to his family’s understanding, and their control over his life’s path.
While only a Mistress with a strong spiritual compass herself can help him reconcile the two, only he can bring her the love Vera feels like she’s waited two lifetimes to have.
A submissive herself, Hill brings authenticity to her intensely emotional BDSM love stories. With over fifty titles and seven series, her contemporary and paranormal romances feature everything from billionaires, bikers, SEALs, firefighters, cops and housemaids, to vampires, mermaids, witches and angels.
"Joey translates the world of BDSM with such intense power and exquisite beauty. LOVE is the most powerful element entwined through the Dominance and submission.” –Goodreads, Pink Lady

I dreem of kneeling...this statement invokes an intense yearning. This spelling of dream created a slight concern which was quickly resolved within a few pages. Rev, such an amazing treasure for Vera to find. This romance is incredibly spiritual blended with physical intimacy. Ms. Hill does it again by creating a love song with her words painted on a canvas of tender and moving actions. Watching Rev court and woo Vera makes me sigh in pleasure.

I didn't want this book to start, and neither to end, knowing it is the end of this series. I hate saying goodbye.
It was impossible to highlight my favourite passages, because the whole book would be pink or yellow. For all what's holy, what a marvellous, wonderful story. Heartbreaking, while pouring gold in the cracks.
If you love books that you can feel in your heart and soul, keeps your heartrate up and takes your breath away at times: just read Joey's.
I received an arc for free, and I leave this review voluntarily and with much love.
At Her Will is an enthralling and unconventional BDSM romance that blends spirituality with dominance and submission in a way that's both thought-provoking and intensely passionate. The story centers on Veracity (Vera) Morgan, a confident Domme, and Rev Leone, a deeply spiritual and intuitive janitor with a submissive side that yearns to be nurtured. Set in New Orleans, this novel is the fifth in the Mistresses of the Board Room series but works well as a standalone.
The most captivating aspect of the book is the dynamic between Vera and Rev. Their chemistry is undeniable, and their relationship is not just about power exchange but about healing, growth, and finding a spiritual connection through love and submission. Rev's journey from feeling torn between his faith and his desires is portrayed with a refreshing sensitivity, while Vera's struggle to reconcile her longing for commitment with her dominant nature adds depth to her character.
Joey W. Hill masterfully intertwines themes of faith, love, and kink, creating a unique narrative that challenges the typical boundaries of romance. The writing is beautifully descriptive, especially when capturing the emotional intensity between the characters. Hill's portrayal of BDSM as a consensual and spiritual journey is both respectful and alluring.
However, the book can feel a bit dense at times, with long passages dedicated to introspection and character development. While this depth is a strength, it might slow the pace for some readers who prefer more action-driven plots.
Spice Level: 🌶🌶🌶🌶
The scenes are hot, explicit, and crafted with the author's signature intensity, but they never feel gratuitous. Instead, they are woven into the story as essential parts of Vera and Rev's relationship.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I really enjoyed At Her Will. It kept me engaged throughout, and I appreciated the well-rounded characters and the exploration of how love and dominance can coexist with faith. I would definitely recommend it, especially to readers who enjoy BDSM romance with a deeper, more philosophical edge.
My Rating System: 1⭐️: The book didn’t hold my interest and/or had significant issues that overshadowed any redeeming qualities for me, but generally not my cup of tea. Most likely did not finish the book. 2⭐️: The book didn’t quite resonate with me, and while my experience wasn’t remarkable, I did finish it. It had some redeeming qualities and potential but fell short in execution. Recommendable, though with some reservations. 3⭐️: Good read, but didn’t quite stand out. Still worth recommending to others. 4⭐️: Really enjoyed it and stayed engaged throughout. Would read the book again. Definitely recommendable. 5⭐️: Incredible writing that made me deeply connect with the characters. I was completely absorbed in the world and didn’t want it to end. This book stayed with me even when I wasn’t reading it. I'd gladly reread it and highly recommend it to everyone!

Karman 'Rev' Leone is a middle school janitor and gifted spiritual singer that speaks to a listener's soul. He lost his mother young and was raised by a loving aunt who chose to protect him from the world he struggled with.
Veracity 'Vera' Morgan is an attorney handling the HR and legal needs at Thomas Rose Associates. She's a Wiccan priestess and the groups' spiritual leader. Rejected by her family for her beliefs as well as being a Domme.
'I dream of kneeling. For her.'
Powerful words Vera finds that will draw her to an extraordinary man that may be all she's longed for. Both come from religious families. Vera's turned their back on her, while Rev's was overprotective, keeping him close, nurturing his gifts to serve the Lord and their family Church.
Rev and Vera's chemistry is palpable. In this latest addition to the Mistresses of the Board Room, Hill delivers a powerful love story that transcends economic, educational and religious differences. Anyone one of these can challenge a relationship but their story shows how these differences enhance their relationship, even while others try to destroy it. She reminded me that while many use religion and beliefs to divide and hate, that they can co-exist and thrive and create beauty. Even though I wasn't always comfortable reading this story, I appreciated the diversity and the way she handled the reality of extremists.
I found myself in a weird spot after finishing this book the first time. Hill always takes me on a journey, but I found myself pulled out of the story several times by my own discomfort with some of the material and that more time seemed to be spent on religion than their story. While I'm not a stranger to reading things outside of my personal wheelhouse or beliefs, some things pulled me out of the story and others made my enjoyment a little less than I normally feel at the end of one of Hill's wonderful books. So, I choose to postpone my review until I had time to re-assess and re-read. Each reading was richer and more meaningful; I loved the characters and many parts of the story but there were enough parts I didn't love that I didn't feel I could give a five-star review. I would still recommend reading this story as Hill is an amazingly gifted writer and Vera and Rev's story deserves to be read.
A few favorite lines:
'I dream of kneeling. For her.'
'Though the years were passing, her soul was still dancing. The important things in life would happen as were meant to happen.'
'Because it was love that changed us. Not fear, ego or insecurity.'
'It always the ones like porcupines that need a hug. They gotta draw blood to let you be kind to them.'
I am a big fan of Joey W. Hill and have read or listened to most of their books. I have to say At Her Will is the most amazing read thus far. I was grabbed at the acknowledgements before I even started the book. It set the stage for me as a reader to anticipate a larger power exchange relationship in depth and intensity. As a person who lives by spiritual and not religious principles this was an awesome experience. The journey of finding commonalities and developing the deep trust that Rev's submission and Veracity's dominance were compatible was incredible, beautiful, intense and ultimately believable. The angst that appears within the journey for all involved is well depicted and runs deep into generations of belief and family relationships. It was almost like a no hold barred look at how do folks with 'differing ideologies ….work with the similarities and overcome the potential challenges when they value the development of loving bonds. If it were possible I would give this book 10 stars. I will add it to my library and suggest it to many friends for multiple reasons. I have read most of the Mistresses of the Board Room series and read this one out of order. I can say it did not change the incredible peace that this book gave me upon reading the final pages. This book is a gift from a very talented author to anyone who chooses to pick it up with an open mind. Kudos to Joey W. Hill for a read that I will not soon stop processing . At Her Will is the 5th book in the Mistresses of the Board Room series. While all the characters from the previous novels play very important roles in the story, Vera and Rev's story can nevertheless be read as a standalone. As always, be prepared for an intensely emotional, thought-provoking and utterly satisfying read revolving around faith, love and inner strength. I had to pull an all-nighter because I simply could not put the book down! Rev is a very unique MMC: A man viewed as 'less than' by society, yet with an inner strength that is remarkable, making him a 'hero' in the truest sense of the word - strong-willed, caring, confident in his beliefs and himself, a fighter for and protector of others in need. Vera is personified strength and dominance on the outside - yet full of painful secrets and emotions carefully guarded inside. Their journey is full of obstacles and challenges which make the ultimate happy ending all the more rewarding. I do hope that there will be another addition to the series with Bastion's story, so we can catch up will all the Mistresses and the strong men they've claimed as their forever subs. I was fortunate to have received a copy through BookSirens and am leaving this review voluntarily and honestly.
Just fantastic reading! A perfect blend of dominance/submission and spirituality. This story is deep, complex, and layered with detailed character development that allow the reader to sink into the story. Vera is the last mistress in her friends group to have a partner. She's hurt by the abandonment of her biological family, but her found family of other dommes and their partners fulfill her. Still, when she comes across Rev, she sees a natural submissive who has no experience, but has a great need and desire.
Rev is a spiritually-oriented family man who helps his aunt and cousin run the family church. Music is in his soul and his caring for his school family, where he works as a custodian, and his church family has tangible compassion and love. When he first meets Vera, he feels the manifestation of his desires for a mistress.
This story highlights the intersection of Wiccan and Christian beliefs blended with a core orientation of dominance and submission. The story incorporates the larger family of Vera's domme friends and their life submissives. The passionate encounters are intense and spiritual. Danger and threats heighten the commitment. I've loved this series and this book is perhaps my favorite.
Vera is the last one standing. Is she ready for Rev? At Her Will is the latest in the Mistresses of the Boardroom series. I will admit that this is only the second book in this series I have read but I did not find that to be a handicap. I enjoyed getting to know Vera. I enjoyed Rev. He is secure in who and what he is. He was his faith proudly and leans unto it daily without being preachy. I love the journey Rev and Vera took together. What they called their may be different but their values were remarkably aligned. I love that Ms. Hill showed us that without being preachy. If I have one criticism I hated how she portrayed Rev's lack of education. He is so poised and humble but his lack of grammar skills made him feel like a caricature of every stereotype known. I hated it. And every time it pulled me out of the world Ms. Hill has created. I loved Rev and this felt unnecessary to me. But having said that I enjoyed this family of friends. I loved the support they provided each other even as their expanded to include Rev. This was a wonderful story overall and well worth the read.
I was really excited to receive an arc of this book, because I really like this series of powerful Domme who are unique in their style and their relationship. I love how they are the woman counterparts of the Knight of the boardroom. I am always fund of woman in power especially POC. It's great to read about diversity. I'm glad that Vera finally found her soulmate but I'm a little bit sad that this series is almost ending. At least, we might get the book of their admin.
This book was harder for me to get into because I'm not a spiritual or religious person. I'm more similar to Cyn whose book I adored and devoured. Nevertheless, this book explored a beautiful, deep, meaningful, and spiritual relationship. They're completely soulmates. Even though I'm still a little uncomfortable with their imbalance of wealth and education.
I enjoyed their journey even if I didn't feel connected or relatable. As always, I loved to read some cameos from the other women especially Cyn who is my favorite.
I recommend this book to fans of Domme, and readers who enjoy a spiritual journey.
Normally the dynamic of the Fm in this genre of book does not appeal to me. The exception are this author's books. The dynamic between Vera and Rev was beautiful. Vera, like her fellow friends (who are also her family) is a very strong female. The first impression the reader gets of Rev, breaks the mold of type of strong males who cherishes and serves this group of women. It is hard to explain Rev. He sounds almost uneducated in the way he speaks, yet he has a very strong spiritual connection to the church. He is full of empathy and caring to those around him, Yet he strong enough to know what he wants and needs. He was such a unique character. With most books you can relate to characters because they often remind you of similar character in other books, But not Rev. Even after waiting a week to try and get my thought together to write this review, Rev is difficult to explain, yet he had such a profound affect on me. And Vera needs him as much as he needs her. This is a story of soulmates. Well done.
I always know that I am going to have a phenomenal reading experience whenever I start a new Joey W. Hill book. It will be spicy, sizzling, erotic, full of deep emotions and feelings with some angst, suspense and even danger mixed in. That said, nothing and I mean nothing, prepared me for At Her Will. It's one of the most unique books I've ever read. Never would I have thought that the underlying vibe would work in this genre. Rev has to be one of the most profoundly fascinating characters I think I've ever run across. His goodness, piety and talents coupled with his loving nature and steel core were incredible. In her own way, too, the draw to Vera was magnetic. Like Rev she lives her belief system and though their spiritualities are approached from opposite sides they align perfectly in one another. This story was completely unexpected but it worked on every level. Do yourself a favor, don't miss this one.
I just love everything about spirituality, especially when linked with servitude, Ownership, M/s, D/s and all those things in between.
I think I found my new crush… Vera is like the most perfect Dom to me. She is ultra feminine, beautiful, sexy, and knows exactly what she wants & isn’t afraid to be vulnerable in precious moments allowing her s type to not only grow and flourish under her care, but also… showing that much needed vulnerability that all s types crave to let them know they aren’t just a possession, but a most treasured possession.
Really enjoyed seeing Dominance played out more cerebrally which is my favorite form of play tbh, literally At Her Will! Love it and Rev was the perfect compliment to Vera. I struggled a bit at first because I didn’t want to see a black man negatively, but I worked around my own feelings towards that and was able to enjoy the romance.
It was wonderful!
Strength, faith, trust the process, vulnerability, angst, very well written bathroom sex scenes, and D/s? What more could a woman ask for. 🥵 💦 🍑 😍
As always with a Joey W. Hill book, I experienced pure love, strong characters, and an intriguing story line. This is book 5 of the Mistresses of the Boardroom series. Although technically it can be read as a standalone, I suggest you read the whole series to enjoy all the characters and how they interact with each other. Getting to see your favorites from a previous book and see what they are up to is always a joy. We finally get Vera’s story and she doesn’t disappoint. Rev is the perfect partner for her. Although they come from totally different faiths and backgrounds, they find the path to true happiness. Beautiful storytelling. Can’t wait to see what Ms. Hill gives us next. This series is definitely worth the read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is a "new to me author" and I signed up to for an ARC because of the themes in the book. It was an amazing read - detailed, emotional and really makes you think. While it's listed as in the erotic genre of romance (and it CERTAINLY is) the story of Vera and Rev (the MC's) is powerful and there is alot more than spicy scenes! I really appreciated how the author contrasted and wove together the MC's spirituality - while vastly different - their core values as humans made for an insightful read. While it's the 5th and final in the Mistresses of the Boardroom - you don't need to read the previous ones. While we do miss some of the back story of the other women in Vera's life - the author does a great job filling in the details wee need.
Joey Hill has once again expertly weaved a masterpiece. At Her Will is the emotionally gripping story of Veracity “Vera” Morgan and Karman “Rev” Leone as they journey to Happily Ever After. I’m not going to lie, when I found out who Vera’s match would be, I was a little worried and unsure if I would like this book as much as the others. How can two people with what appears to be totally opposite (and many would consider opposing/contradictory) faith backgrounds make this work? But I should’ve known to trust the process! Ms. Hill did an excellent job in answering that question.
My heart went out to both characters as we discover the past that shaped them into who they are, and the things that they had to reconcile within themselves to fully embrace each other. And Lord….don’t even get me started on their families! Ugh!
I don’t want to spoil anything so I HIGHLY recommend that you read it for yourselves. Does not disappoint!!
If I can say one thing though, I do hope that we get an update with the whole TRA gang…like an extended epilogue (or like Dale and Athena’s BBQ short story). 😬🤞🏽🤞🏽

I thought I knew what was going to happen as I went into this book. The old adage that you should not judge, or in this case anticipate what you will get from, a book by its cover. I thought the hook " I dreem of kneeling… for her" was a powerful one. It drew me in and I wanted to know who would share that in a public space and whose attention they were trying to capture. It helped me to know that this story was going to be more than just a story about power exchange. And it was a lot more. The main characters connected on more than just a physical level and it made the story richer. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I did not care for this book. I gave it a solid 2.5 mostly because 75% of the book deals with christianity. Every single thing that happened in the book ended up with a discussion of religion. Even when Vera took Rev to the kink club it revolved around scripture and religion. Vera was Wicca but only a small section of the book dealt with that. I was disappointed. I don't mind a bit of religion but not a whole book.

At Her Will is an absolutely sublime novel dealing with the nature of love in all its iterations. The love between family and friends, man and woman and the Devine. Vera and Rev teach us that love is the great equalizer. This story beautifully details a loving and spiritual journey between two souls meant to be. This book left me amazed at the tapestry painted in words. This may be my favorite Joey W. Hill book yet. Stunning.
This was such an amazing story, I loved Rev and Vera together. They had such a great blend of spirituality and physical connection. I was drawn in right from the beginning. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Soul BDSM romance …. There were some bits that were excessively wordy and repetitive but her character development was flawless as usual. I can see all the 5 women and their men clearly in my mind’s eye.
Wow. Amazing read! Intense storyline with exciting characters. Lots of twists throughout the story to keep my attention. Banter was awesome. Some drama and suspense. Steamy scenes were so good. Highly recommend.
As always it was perfectly written. I’ve not read a book yet that Joey has written I’ve not liked or loved. Mistress Vera and Rev’s story was very unique. One that you need to read.
