Jude Bessonette is living his dream. After years of toiling in the lower ranks, he's finally landed a roster spot with the Detroit Cougars. Playing for one of the most storied franchises in the NHL means he has to stay on top of his game - no distractions allowed. But when he finds his personal assistant doing a Goldilocks in his bed... who wouldn't be distracted?

Brynn Cates didn't mean to get caught squatting in her boss’s apartment—he was supposed to be on vacation for the next six weeks. Now she's probably getting fired from the best job she's ever had on top of being broke and homeless.
But he doesn't fire her, and instead of throwing her out, he insists she stay in his guest room. Which solves one of her problems, but oh, she’s got more. Like trying to pretend she only sees him as a boss/temporary roommate when all she wants is to ride his mustache to O Town—for the rest of their lives.

Jude knows he can't date his assistant—at best it's an optics problem, at worst a PR nightmare that could derail his career. But he likes Brynn, and not just because he wants her thighs wrapped around his head more than he wants to win a Norris trophy. He could see forever with her…if the whole boss/employee thing wasn’t in the way.

He wants her. She wants him. She doesn’t want to lose her job. He doesn’t want to mess up his career. Lust isn’t enough. But is love?

Hannah Murray

Hannah has been reading romance novels since she was young enough to have to hide them from her mother, and decided to try her hand at writing one when she realized the book she really wanted to read lived in her head. That was a dozen years and as many manuscripts ago, and there are still more stories to be told.

She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband—former Special Forces and an OR nurse who writes fantasy fiction, and acts as In House Expert for his wife on matters pertaining to weapons, tactics, the military, medical conditions and How Dudes Think—and their daughter, who takes after her father.

Hannah loves to hear from readers, and will answer questions here on Goodreads.

This one was the sweetest and slowest burn of the four (so far) and it was really fun!!! I see where some other reviewers wanted the pace to speed up in the middle but honestly I ate it all up and wouldn’t change a thing. I’d even take more of them if I could!

I think I’ve read every book in this series in one sitting—once I start I just can’t stop. I love Hannah’s books so much. You can find me here waiting impatiently for Amy’s book 🙇‍♀️

Brynn is a PA and during offseason her salary is non-existent according to the accountant at the firm she works for. Her client is away for 6 weeks and she has access to his apartment and since she couldn’t afford rent why not use his bed and clean the place for a little income.

Jude comes home early from his vacation late at night and stumbles into his bed to find a furry companion he definitely didn’t have before he left to see his family. Finding out he should pay more attention to the company running his life he also needs to decide if he should act on his recurrent fantasy about his employee…

Felt a bit slow until more than halfway along. Tighten up the pacing and story would flow better and I’d have enjoyed it a bit more. Will check out authors previous works.

Wholly obsessed with everything Hannah Murray does. And Jude’s story was an absolute treat, truly. Jude and Brynn bring the heat in this boss/employee story. A NHL player who is so horrifically down bad for his assistant. I love love love the fact that Jude “the Thighs” Bessonette has a mustache, and he *learns* how to use it. He’s also so obsessed with Brynn and ensuring that she is pleased (in every single way).

I do have to say-and this is not a complaint in any way-that for a hockey romance, it was very focused on baseball LOL. I’m always a fan of a kiss cam moment and I loved this one!

This was the perfect conclusion to the F.I.L.T.H. series. I loved seeing Esme and Tuck in this too.

Thanks to the author for the ARC via NetGalley!

I'd like to begin by thanking the author, Solitary Vice Publishing, and NetGalley for a ARC copy of this book for review. All opinions are my own.

This book follows Brynne, who is a personal assistant to her "boss," NHL star Jude. Brynne finds herself homeless and broke after a contract snafu, and ends up squatting in Jude's home while he was away during the off-season, only for him to come home early and discover that she's been there. Jude is surprisingly pretty understanding that she's been living there, dog-sitting for extra cash, and cleaning his home for him when the job was supposed to be contracted out to someone else. I guess it's because he's secretly had the hots for her, and she has always had a crush on him. She begins living with him while he works with his team to get to the bottom of the issues with her pay and contract. They begin the dance of fighting their attraction to one another until they cannot any longer.

This book was a fast read, and the plot isn't complicated. I found myself frustrated with some of the plot points of the story, like the fact that the contract issues were resolved so early. I also found myself rolling my eyes at the friend who had her first baby in the back of cab an hour and a half after her first contraction. I'm sure it's not unheard of but this side plot just felt unnecessary.

I'm also no stranger to smut in all shapes and sizes, but the scenes in this book did nothing for me. The instalove angle just made everything feel rushed and for two people who were in love and ready to shout it from the rooftops, they just looked like horny teenagers. I didn't get the impression that they were in love so much as they were in lust. I just wished there had been more relationship development that made me believe they were in love and that their attraction wasn't just physical.

All of this aside, I did like the book. All the elements of a good story are there. If you are looking for something quick, short, and sweet, this is a great option.

I fucking adored this book but then everything I read about Hannah Murray usually is a solid read.

If you like complex characters with lives outside of their romantic partners, friendship, humor and very well written smut, this is it.

I'm so damn creving Amy's book and so happy that Murray said it'll come this year that I screamed hehe

This was fun. Short, sweet, and smutty. Features both a sexy mustache trim and full-blown mustache riding.

2.5 stars. For a book in a series called FILTH, it’s surprisingly tame. And a little boring. There’s a tiny amount of drama from them being boss/employee but it’s never really that much of an issue because she technically works for an agency, not him directly. All they do is kiss a few times for the first 60% of the book. Tilly might be the best and most interesting part of this book, honestly, and she’s a dog.

Treat by Hannah Murray
F.I.L.T.H. #4

Fabulous, fiery, and fun ~ I really enjoyed this fourth book in a series that stands alone.

What I liked:
* Brynn: personal assistant, has a crush on her boss, dog sitting, financial issues, caught squatting in her boss’s home, speaks her mind, knows what she wants, perfect for and with Jude
* Jude: professional hockey player, responsible, hard worker, loves his family, good friend, communicates well, knows what he wants, perfect for and with Brynn
* Tommy: Jude’s teammate, loving husband, soon to be father, jokester, gives good advice to Jude, good friend
* Esme & Tucker: Jude’s friends, characters in the first book, extroverts, good friends, would like to read their book someday
* The plot, pacing, setting, and writing
* That I liked and cared about the characters and the adult way they communicated on all levels with one another – in and out of the bedroom
* That I found myself chuckling from time to time throughout the story
* The mustache…may have to do some googling ;)
* All of it really except…

What I didn’t like:
* Can’t think of anything at all except that I was sorry to say goodbye to Brynn and Jude and wonder how they will do in the future

Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Definitely

Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I loved this book (and series), it was a real Treat to read!

It is filled with humour, steam, fun, two enjoyable main characters, great friends, Tilly the dog and a mustache......

Jude and Brynn's relationship is just so easy (though the whole assistant/boss situation does cause some challenges), I loved how Brynn kind of just goes with the flows and brings humour to situations.

The conversations between Brynn and her best friend Amy had many great one liners, and so many sentences in the book had me giggling - I kept thinking "this would be great to quote in the review", but since I like to keep reviews spoiler free, I am not going to, you will just have to read the book yourself (because it is well worth it).

Very excited that while Treat is the fourth and final book in the F.I.L.T.H series, Hannah has confirmed that there will be books for Maddie and Amy, yay, I can't wait!

I read an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

At its core, this is a boss/assistant story, where they've always had the hots for each other, but finally give in. For a series that started with Stuffed, this final book is surprisingly tame. Unless, perhaps, you're very into a man with a mustache, because the mustache is as integral part of the spice.

I liked the hijinks angles - the dog sitting, the borrowing the boss's apartment while he's away. And I liked the visit from the main couple in Stuffed.

It felt like there were external plot factors (his agent, issues with payroll) that wanted to be more developed, but the scope of the story didn't allow it.

It's pretty short, it's got fun spice, and some hockey romance flavor. A good time overall.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Treat is the 4th and final book of high-heat novellas following a group of friends as they all fall in love, but can easily be read as a standalone. Jude and Brynn's story is an undeniable treat which adds quite a bit of humour and sweetness to the steamy heat and spice I've come to expect from this series. They make an absolutely adorable and wonderful couple and I loved everything about their journey to an HEA. It was great to catch glimpses of the other friends as well and I'm glad that two great side characters will be getting their stories as well. I can't wait!
I was lucky to have received an advanced copy from the author and am leaving this review voluntarily and honestly.

I get so excited when a new Hannah Murray book is out! This is the fourth, and sadly, final book in the F. I. L. T. H. series. We met Jude at his friends’ (Tuck & Esme) Thanksgiving dinner the year before. I found this hockey player-assistant forbidden relationship story the sweetest of the series. I loved the low angst of Jude watching Brynn, the object of his desire, and the resulting teasing of his teammates. The author presents Jude’s “secret” and Brynn responds in such a positive way, it made me smile. If you want a sex positive, slow burn but steamy when it happens (and there’s a dog!), grab a read of this.

Perhaps the most slow burn of the entire series, this one is about a professional hockey player and his assistant. While I don't always love a boss/employee romance all that much, they make the distinctions pretty quickly (she technically works for his agency and not him) and the sex is hot as ever. I'm a little sad to see this delightfully steamy series end but excited we'll get a couple of spin off stories, especially one with Brynn's bestie, professor Amy.

ARC is from author, opinions are all mine.

Tropes:
Boss & assistant

Rating: 5/5
Spice Rating: 3/5

Jude is a famous NHL hockey player who’s been hiding his attraction to his new assistant for months.

Brynn is Jude’s assistant who has suddenly found herself homeless & squatting in his apartment while he’s been away for the summer. When he comes home early & discovers her, they have a hard time hiding their mutual attraction any longer.

This book was so sweet. I loved how they both tried to fight their attraction although I would have liked a little more pining in the beginning. Overall, another hit from Hannah Murray!

What a treat this was!

When Jude gets home from his summer trip vacation earlier than expected the last person he expects to find in his apartment is is his assistant, Brynn. She had me end dealt a bad hand lately and was struggling so thought she could kill two birds with one stone and stay at Jude’s while he was away. Turns out the two of them have more going on than being accidental roommates. So what happens when the lines start to blur.

Loved it. A great finish to this series and great having some cameos thrown in as well.

I read this book voluntarily for an honest review.

Sweet, Slightly-Forbidden Romance
Brynn is NHL defensemen Jude’s assistant. There’s always been sparks, but when she ends up staying at his place, those sparks turn into a blaze. This story is way sweeter and far less taboo than the other stories in this series, which was unexpected, but once I settled into the story, I loved reading Jude and Brynn’s romance. A wonderful story.

5 star mustache content.

the pacing dragged a little in the beginning (a bit too much but she's my assistant // he's my boss) but these two sparkplugs were delightful in their boinking. basset hound tilly was also cute!

i haven't read all of the books in this series, but you can jump in (just knowing you will meet characters from the previous books too).

Mustache rides for all!

Yummy!

The last of the original group gets their happily ever after. This is more of a slow burn, first kiss is about 40% in but it picks up quickly. The spice in the end definitely makes up for it.

2.5⭐️ rounded up. Idk why but this book just didn’t work for me. The FMC was getting on my nerves from the get-go and I just didn’t feel the romance between them. Like it felt more about the physical/sex than romantic or emotional.

The entire FILTH series is just that…all together filthy and smutty but this final book was a bit more mainstream than the rest (but still full of fun times). I absolutely love Jude’s character and how he shows concern for their boss/employee relationship but still allows their happiness to thrive. While I am sad to see the series end I am excited that the author will be giving us some HEAs for a couple of side characters that we have grown to love!
