A hopeless romantic with a broken heart. A bad boy with a dominant streak. An irresistible deal.
Anne
Love doesn’t exist. Not the kind I read about in my romance books, anyway. Until Lennox Cade walks into the same bar as me, that is. He’s got the looks, the tattoos, and the bike… which is why taking him to my ex’s wedding would be the perfect excuse to live out my BookTok dreams. Can I keep my wishful heart from falling in love with this fictitious romance? Or am I only setting myself up for another heartbreak?
Lennox
Anne Bailey is everything I’m not. Sweet, kind, and completely unaware of how amazing she is. She thinks she can play pretend with me for a weekend, and I’m not strong enough to resist the chance to corrupt her. Except, the more time I spend with Anne, the more I realize I’m the one in danger of breaking. But can I give up my control and everything I’ve known in favor of love? Or will letting go of Anne destroy more than just my icy heart?

Thank you to Nadia Naele for sending me a free copy of her book in exchange for my honest review.
Rating : 4 Spice : 3
Tropes :
- Fake dating / fake date to ex's wedding - Only one bed - Found family - Exploration of FMC's sexuality (BDSM) - Emotionally unavailable MMC - Plus-size FMC - Grumpy x Sunshine - One MFM scene as a gift to the FMC
I really enjoyed Taking Chances. This was my first book by this author, and it was a pleasant surprise. While this is book 3 in a series, I think you can easily read it without having read the first two books. I never felt lost or confused.
Lennox was such a great character. He's tall, grumpy, emotionally unavailable, and seems incapable of opening his heart to anyone. He falls for Anne quickly but doesn’t realize it at first. He sets boundaries and rules in his mind, yet it's him who ends up breaking them and making the first moves every single time.
Anne, on the other hand, experiences heartbreak early in the book when her boyfriend leaves her for another woman. She's a hopeless romantic with a strict family that pressures her to marry (but only someone they approve of). Over the course of the book, she grows a lot, thanks not just to Lennox, but to her own self-discovery as well. By the end, she's not a completely different person, but she no longer lacks self-confidence, nor does she let people walk all over her or dictate her life/choices. She learns to stand up for herself and figure out what she truly wants in life.
The chemistry between Lennox and Anne was fantastic. From their first encounter, it was obvious they were attracted to each other, but they both managed to deny it to themselves in a way that didn’t feel frustrating or unrealistic. Their relationship has a lot of back-and-forth tension, and once things get physical, the book definitely turns up the heat (not enough for what I expected though but it didn't disappoint). Lennox is the perfect teacher: patient, caring, and always focused on ensuring Anne is comfortable and consenting. I really appreciated how Lennox took the time throughout their physical scenes to check in with Anne, something I feel is often missing in these dynamics. It was a great and realistic depiction of this lifestyle, especially with Lennox being well-versed in it and Anne being new to it.
The only reason I’m not giving this book 5 stars is that while I had fun reading it, I didn’t feel a deep connection with either of the main characters. Anne was sweet, but I didn’t quite connect with her on a personal level. Lennox was more engaging, but not enough for me to become obsessed with either of them.
Chapter 6: Usually, I would DNF a book if the MMC so much as glances at another woman after meeting the FMC, even if they aren’t officially together yet. In this case, Lennox interacts with another woman, and it’s described on the page. I didn’t feel it added much to the plot or his character development, and honestly, I was ready to put the book down if I lost interest in the plot or the MMC afterwards. Fortunately, the story picked up, and I kept going, but that scene could have easily been a dealbreaker for me. I think that even if you don't like those kinds of scenes, even before they get together, you can easily skip it since it adds nothing to the story and even if you don't, there's a high chance it won't bother you because of the context of the scene.
Thank you to Nadia Neale for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. This book will be released on the 8th of February 2025, definitely check out the BYC series.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I rate it a 4/5 ⭐️ . Taking Chances is the final instalment of the BYC series, I am so sad to see this series end but I loved every moment of it! Taking Chances was a quick paced book which was filled with spice and vulnerability.
We all know and love Anne from the past 2 books with her wee romance books (I feel like thats us) and she was always such a hopeless romantic. I loved her personal growth throughout this book and I loved how Lennox was the one to guide her in the right direction so that she could feel comfortable in her own skin. I loved how Anne wasn't just a small girl and let me tell you, I wasn't the only one who loved this (I'm talking to you MR. CADE 😮💨🤤).
But then who can't help but love Lennox, at first I was really on the fence because he didn't want a relationship with our girl Anne and she deserves the world but let me tell you, Mr. Cade did not let us down. He was down bad from the start, lets be honest, who buys a car to go to your fake girlfriends, ex boyfriends wedding 😉.
These are both very complex characters that have amazing development throughout the story and make you feel what they feel and understand the past trauma they have been through. It was hitting hard sometimes but it definitely made you FEEL something.
The spice was spicy, don't skip that motorcycle scene!!! (or any other scene for that matter 😘)
I would highly recommend this book if you love a book filled with great tropes, e.g. fake dating, friends with benefits, opposites attract (plus more) 🤤🥵😮💨. Please check the trigger warnings first.
💜 Grumpy x Sunshine 💜 Opposites attract 💜 Fake dating 💜 Tattooed biker MMC x Plus-size FMC 💜 One bed
This instalment from the BYC universe is definitely a steamy and emotionally charged romance that dives into the complexities of love, self-discovery, and overcoming past traumas.
Anne’s vulnerability and Lennox’s guarded nature create a dynamic that is both captivating and relatable, adding in their individual struggles that created depth to their relationship. The fake dating element, combined with the opposites attract aspect, provided a solid foundation for their story and made them extra loveable, as they came into their own as a couple and as individuals.
Nadia tackles the sensitive topics in this book with such care, adding emotional weight to the narrative overall.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys a contemporary romance with complex characters and emotional depth. However, be sure to check your triggers before diving in.
I really can’t say enough good things about this one, this was an easy 5 star read for me. I literally ate the entire thing up in one day. This is my first book by Nadia Neale but I will absolutely be checking out her other work!
The chemistry between Lennox and Anne was undeniable, and I loved watching them heal together while also getting to know themselves better. I love a book that makes me feel a little bit of everything, and this one did it. I loved everything about it. Special shoutout to Lennox, just for being Lennox. This man y’all.
Highly recommended if you like fake dating/friends with benefits, a touch of grumpy x sunshine, and truly good spice ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Is this a literary masterpiece?…No…..BUT it is a solid smut book with a cute story and a FMC who finds herself through her sexual experiences. I also appreciate that this FMC is curvier but isn’t completely in her head about it. Does she have insecurities, yes, but it’s not the entire story and it’s not annoying which is refreshing.
There are grammatical errors that I hope will get fixed before release as this was an ARC review, but it wasn’t glaring and I can still appreciate the book despite these things.
I will get down on my knees anytime, anywhere for Lennox Cade.
and add in a masked MFM scene…yes please 🥵
I loved the bdsm exploration that Anne went through and to see Lennox guiding her was amazing. He was beyond sweet, he just needed to get his head out of his ass.
Both of them had reasons as to not want a relationship at the moment but reading their journey and finding love with each other was perfect.
All I can say about that ending is…he remembered 🥺 it was too cute.
Taking Chances is Anne and Lennox's fake dating love story. It has all the best tropes: *Fake Dating * Plus-sized FMC * Tattooed biker MMC * Opposites attract * Grumpy x Sunshine * One bed trope Anne and Lennox have such great banter and chemistry. I loved that Anne was able to find herself and not be a people pleaser and learn what she wants. Lennox is the best kind of book boyfriend.
I absolutely devoured this book. I love love love that Lennox and Anne kept showing up for each other and showed each other what love can look like and be And who doesn’t love a man who read your favorite books and recreates the scenes 😉 IYKYK You only highlight the good parts of a book - I practically highlighted this whole ass book😍

Thoroughly enjoyed book 3 in the BYC series. The MMC doesn't know love that doesn't hurt, but he wants to. The MFC is fresh out of a relationship and wants to explore what she's into. BDSM components. Friendship. Love. HEA.
Ms Neale you continue to rock my world. I looooooved Anne and Lennox’s story! Their chemistry was fireworks, their banter electric, and their freedom to explore each other’s deepest needs - primal! It was so great to have the rest of the BYC characters play such large parts in this third instalment and I never want it to end. And the emotions you portrayed with such a sensitive topic had me tearing up, right before jumping back into hot and bothered with our two MCs connection. Highly recommend! 5 ⭐️ 5 🌶️
100% absolutely loved this book !!! I think I love this one more than the first one. A perfect mix of rom com meets dark romance. I love that the FMC is a book girlie !!!!! And that the MMC cared enough to read her dark romance book to learn more about what she may like. Chefs kiss !! 😚
Anne is me. I've looked for love all my life and have never found it. I've had my heart broken more times than I can count.
I love that Anne is not a perfect size 4. I loved that Lennox sees her for the beautiful person she is. Their story is so beautiful. The banter between them is perfect and made me laugh so many times.
I enjoyed seeing Anne healing Lennox as he healed her.
I'm looking forward to reading the other books in this series.
At this point, I'm sure everyone knows I have a thing for masked men. If it's got masked men, I'm reading it. I honestly enjoyed reading this book. The spice was so good! The consent portion of it all was also on point. Not very many books show the female or male consent, and I found this refreshing. Especially for BDSM. If your one that wants see and hear consent, you won't be disappointed. I couldn't put this book down it had some kind of hold on me. I needed to see how it ended. It was a one day read for me. You'll thank me later. The masked MFM scene is gold. I can't deny it, I came for the smut and nothing else, and Nadia delivered (IYKYK). It had the perfect amount of smut mixed in with a cute little love story to go with it. I will admit I'm not usually a fan of fake dating, but I looked the other way since I enjoyed the book otherwise, and this was written in a way that kept me interested .
Lenox finally got his chance in the spotlight. He is one of those grumpy characters that need a little sunshine in their life to even them out. He is emotionally unavailable, but he is quick to fall for her. I'm not good at setting boundaries either. I tend to break my own boundaries as well. Lenox is Lenox, though he doesn't change who he is at all in this book he stays true to who he is. But he does have some growth in the book. He is a dream!
Anne, I enjoyed seeing her character evolve throughout this book. She is also on the curvier side. She finally loves herself by the end of the book. Her self-worth is also a lot better by the end of the book. She doesn't let anyone walk all over her or dictate how she should live her life. Her parents are strict, and they have to approve of the one she decides to marry....
I love it when there's banter and tension at the beginning of the relationship. Don't worry, this book does a really good job about implementing consent and the importance of it. Their chemistry is undeniable even though at the beginning they denied their connection towards each other. It was such a treat watching these two characters grow in the book. Their self-discovery is inspirational.
Taking Chances by Nadia Neale is her final BYC series installment. We know and love Anne from the past two books of the series. She is the helpless romantic of the group. She finds herself heartbroken after getting dumped by her boyfriend. She soon starts to believe that love doesn’t exist. Not the kind I read about in my romance books, anyway. Until she runs into a biker with the looks and the tattoos at her favorite bar while drowning her sorrows. He turns out to be Lennox Cade, a newly retired NHL hockey player and best buddy with Conner. Lennox Cade is a bad boy with a dominant streak to match. They string up a plan to pretend to date at Anne’s ex-wedding. It’s the perfect excuse for Anne to live out her Booktok dreams. However Lennox on the other hand thinks she can play pretend with him for a weekend, and he is not strong enough to resist the chance to corrupt her. After the wedding, Lennox comes around the group a lot more as he just moved to the area. The more time he spends with Anne, the more he realizes he is the one in danger of breaking. But can he give up control and everything he knows in favor of love? Or will letting go of Anne destroy more than just his icy heart? Meanwhile, can Anne keep a wishful heart from falling in love with this fictitious romance? Or is it only setting herself up for another heartbreak?
She does it again! Another amazing book! It’s rare to find a romance that blends heat and heart so well Nadia does a perfect job every single time! The balance between intense chemistry and moments of genuine introspection are chef kiss. The character development throughout this book with the darker elements of Anne and Lennox's backgrounds was again perfect. It was so great to have the rest of the BYC characters play such large parts in this third installment. It was like wrapping the series up with a bow. There are so many spicy scenes in this book it is hard to pick which is my favorite. The book scenes that he recreated for her probably are high up there. I wish someone would do that for me. Again like the first book in the series, it was refreshing to see the BDSM side as it is made to be. A deep level of care and compassion between partners. Lennox Cade is the true embodiment of a book boyfriend. Thank you to Nadia Neale for sending me an advance copy in return for an honest review. I can not wait till the book officially comes out on February 8, 2025. Everyone make sure to get your copies! You will not regret it :)
Just finished reading an advanced copy of a book that is about to be released on February 8th called, Taking Chances. This is the third book in this series, and I was lucky enough to receive all three books as ARCs! This book was about a woman who never felt like she was good enough, skinny enough, pretty enough, special enough. And her family and past relationships never helped her feel good about herself, only made her feel worse. When her ex is getting married to someone else right after their breakup, her friends say she should go to the wedding with a fake boyfriend. And the new guy in their friend group who doesn't want a relationship is the perfect guy to be a fake boyfriend. But the lines of fake dating and real feelings get blurry, and they struggle to keep things between them simple when they are both trying not to fall for each other as they spend more time together. This story is about breaking down walls built from childhood/family trauma, trusting someone even though you've been hurt before, and learning to give love a chance. I loved getting more of the characters from past books, seeing into their happy lives was so great! I'm really sad this series is over because I loved these books and these characters, but I am eager to see what stories this author comes up with next! 🩵📚
Thank you to the author and to the publisher for this ARC of Taking Chances, in exchange for an honest review.
I adored this book and its characters. I have not read the first two in the BYC series, but they have been diligently added to my TBR as the couples present in this book seem charming and I would like to know more about this world.
That said, let's dive in!
Anne is such a relatable character. She starts the book feeling like she's single because she must be doing something wrong. She's the common denominator in all of her past relationships, right? Add a dash of body issues and feeling like she is never good enough because of other people's commentary on her life and she is just a character many can empathize with. She is also a sweet, kind, supportive person who you just want to see grow and love herself. Lennox agrees. He's against emotional partnerships on principle and is very transactional in his approach to his happiness. However, he can't help but be drawn to Anne as his friends push them together and they are the only single people in their mutual friend group. They both have such strong feelings about their pasts and trauma they need to move on from. They both work to support the other and grow closer than they ever meant to. The story is sweet. The way he takes care of her melts your heart. They way they play is spicy with various references to trying new limits and safe word checks. These characters are flawed, sweet, and so good together. I loved it.
Lennox was perfect 😍 Amazing book boyfriend, an amazing friend, and an amazing character. From the moment I started reading, I was amazed by Lennox's character. Lennox and Anne's first interaction was too fun to read and perfect. She was a little drunk, brutally honest, and talking about her ideal book boyfriends to a random handsome stranger. And his answer **blush blush**
The found-family aspect of this book is heartwarming. The close-knit friend group is welcoming and loves each other 😍 😍 😍 Another thing that I enjoyed the most is that Lennox was teaching Anne her value, and her character grew so beautifully.
🐈 🐈 🐈 🐈 🐈 Most importantly, Anne is a CAT MAMA.🐈 🐈 🐈 🐈 🐈
Fake Dating & One Bed trope, what more can I want?
One of my favorite things about both the MMC and FMC is that they never lied to each other. Even though the MMC had a tough background, they were very open to communication, and I loved it. No miscommunication trope—so happy.
With each book, we learn more about Croatian culture, and it makes me want to experience it firsthand—especially the food! I know this is not a cooking book, but I am sure if the author provided the recipe for the cod spread mentioned in the book, I would definitely try to make it. Someone give me that cod spread recipe! 😂
I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
- Opposites Attract - Fake dating - One bed - Dom/Sub - 3some - S*x Club - Tattooed biker MMC - BDSM - FWB
REVIEW
I'm fumbling for words here. If you thought Christian Grey was good but not hot enough in the sheets, take a trip to the land of Lennox Cade because that man is like him but soooo much better, darker, and attentive!
This book had me giggling, smiling and downright bloody flustered. The way he handled Anne throughout this book was sublime. Inside and outside of the sheets. For a man to buy a car to take her to her exes wedding is a sure fire sign this man was freaking ENAMOURED!!!! I am literally obsessed and Lennox has made it into my top 3 book boyfies. Hot damn mama, he is SMOKIN.
Watching Anne's insecurity develop into confidence all because of this glorious hunk of a man that will invade any woman's wet dreams, was so fabulous to see.
Read it when it releases. I beg you. Please. On my knees... just like you will be for Mr. Cade
Taking Chances by Nadia Neale is a captivating mix of romance, spice, and emotional depth. The story begins with a lighthearted friends-with-benefits dynamic, but it soon evolves into a touching journey of love and self-discovery. What really stood out to me was the personal growth of the female main character. Watching her transform and confront her vulnerabilities added a richness to the story that made the emotional stakes feel real.
Nadia Neale skillfully balances the intense chemistry with moments of genuine introspection. The spice and kink are incredibly well done, heightening the connection between the characters without overshadowing the deeper themes of love and personal development. It’s rare to find a romance that blends heat and heart so well, and Taking Chances delivers on all fronts.
This book is a fantastic addition to the series, bringing both sweetness and steam, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a romance where the characters grow just as much as their relationship!
I am lost for words. Seriously where I can find myself a Lennox because I would be on my knees so quick like a good girl. Everyone’s partner needs to take notes because Lennox upped the game when he read Anne’s favourite spicy book and recreated a scene from it. I need a minute to myself after reading this, seriously the spice was so high and had so many elements to it (bdsm, masked men MFM scene, praise and degradation, bondage…). Seriously ladies get on this one because Lennox and his filthy mouth will have you squirming in your seat and looking up s*x clubs to join. Anne is a hopeless romantic who loves with her whole heart on her sleeve but after one too many breakups she decides she just needs some good no strings attached spice and Lennox introduces her to a whole new world. Her character growth throughout the book was amazing to see and she really blossomed into herself more and more. Lennox helped her be herself, she was so confident and demanding and knew exactly what she wanted and wasn’t ashamed to admit it.
🔸️As BDSM romance, the story is fantastic. Anne and Lennox are well paired and fulfill each other needs in a beautiful way. I liked the "introduction" aspect and how Lennox is slowly taking off each "layer" of Anne, so we are reaching to the point in which we clearly understand from where Anne's need of degradation come from. Well done. 🔸️I also have enjoyed the aspects of "opposite attracts" and fake dating. They came out believable and are smoothly mixed with really hot and juicy spice (I loved ALL spicy scenes 🔥🔥🔥🔥) 🔸️What was a nope from me, is a background pacing (outside MCs). I understand that author wanted to bring other characters from series, and the idea itself was good, but the execution was off for me. 🔸️Overall, I very solid BDSM romance. I think I have enjoyed this story the most from all 3. For all who craves a sweet & curious ladies being "corrupted" by kinky&grumpy protectors.
⭐️Fake dating ⭐️Opposites attract ⭐️Grumpy and sunshine ⭐️Friends with benefits ⭐️One bed trope ⭐️Masked man
This novel has great Complexity of characters. FMC has poor self image due to toxic familial relationships and growth/development of her character throughout novel.
Sexual exploration is written in a caring, respectful manner. FMC is able to live out fantasy from her romantic novels. Demonstrating the aftercare for each experience reveals the care and concern that is so important with this type of exploration. I think the author did a fantastic job with writing this aspect of the story.
The story of the MMCs familial trouble with domestic violence is heartbreaking and allows for growth and development of character.
This is so much more than a story of romance or spice.
Beautifully written. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I loved this book!! I was so excited to receive this as an ARC, as I have been interested in this author and had heard that this could be read as a standalone even though it is the third in the series. I will definitely be running to go and get the first two books and read them immediately because this was so great!!
While it definitely had some spice, the characters were really well written and I really felt like I knew them outside of those scenes and enjoyed all aspects of this story. I loved how relatable Anne’s character was, from her body type, to her personality, her love for books, and so so many more things. This alone made the story stand out more than many others for me in this genre!
Definitely make sure to look at the trigger warning list first though, as there are a few elements that could be a problem for some individuals.
Overall, this was an amazing first look into the world of Nadia Neale and I cannot wait to continue reading her works!
4.5⭐ 3.5 🌶️ Tropes/Themes: Found Family, Fake Dating, Spicy Lessons, sub training, healing Dual POV 1st person
This is the third book in the BYC series. I’ve had the honor of being an ARC reader for all three books now and I think this is my favorite. All the books are amazing, but this one is just SO GOOD. I will say the first third or so of this book I wasn’t sure. In my head I was rating this between a 3 and 3.5 and then BAM, solid 4.5….aaaaaand it’s hard to talk about those things because they’d all be spoilers.
There were a few things I didn’t like- such as a naive, insecure FMC- BUT as I got more into the story, I actually started to appreciate Anne’s insecurity/issues. I also kind of side eyed Lennox’s need for imperfection. I get it, I really do, it makes sense in the context of the story but IDK, it was weird to me. And I wish we’d been told what was on the list…even just a few! But really those things are “it’s not you it’s me” so do yourself a favor and read this series!!
Anne meet a stranger who is walking sex appeal the kind you read about in smutty books only he’s not tall and dark but he is all. She pour her heart out about being dumped while getting wasted. Only problem the next day he shows up with one of her friends.
When she’s get a wedding invite from her ex her friends talk her into taking a fake date and he is the chosen one.
Anne personal growth throughout this book was just what she needed to do, from a tame people pleaser to doing what she wants for her self. I also loved how Lennox was the one to guide her in the right direction so that she could feel comfortable in her own skin and find her confidence. He was so sweet and gentle with her when it was needed he just needed to let him self feel more.
The spice was scorching hot.. Lennox and his bike will be on my head every time I see a bike now.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Oh my gosh I LOVED this. I hadn’t read anything from this author before but I’m definitely going to read more. I simply MUST read the other books in this series.
The story is cute: Anne is reeling from her boyfriend, Bryce, leaving her for someone else. Lennox is new in town, but unbeknownst to Anne, he is also friends with one of her own friends. These two worlds collide by chance, and then Anne and Lennox find themselves fake dating to stick it to Bryce.
I love Anne’s transformation from a nervous, insecure good girl into a more confident, sensual woman who finally starts to know her own worth.
The chemistry between Anne and Lennox is so good! Their banter is so enjoyable. And when it’s time for spice 🌶️, well, that’s very enjoyable as well.
This had me teary eyed, but also smiling and laughing, and sometimes a little hot under the collar.
This book delivers exactly what it promises, a fake dating, opposites attract romance with plenty of heat and heart. Anne is a hopeless romantic still nursing a broken heart, and Lennox is the tattooed, dominant “bad boy” biker who’s the last person she expects to feel safe with. Their weekend of pretend at her ex’s wedding starts off as a fun, spicy escape, but quickly turns into something much more real.
Anne and Lennox's tension and banter, the undeniable attraction all build is steamy. Anne’s vulnerability makes her relatable and easy to root for, while Lennox’s layered personality gives him depth beyond the typical “bad boy” trope. Watching him wrestle with his own walls while falling for Anne is surprisingly satisfying.
If there’s one small drawback, it’s that some of the heavier topics hinted at in the content notes could have been explored with more depth. At times, things resolve a little too quickly, which slightly lessens the impact of the emotional stakes.
Still, this book is a swoony, spicy escape perfect for fans of fake dating and “bad boy meets good girl” stories. It’s heartfelt, fun, and addictive. You’ll be rooting for Anne and Lennox. Period.
I loved it! Anne and Lennox's story is amazing. If you're looking for an easy read, filled with lots of steamy scenes, laughter, and self-discovery, then this is it! You don't have to read the previous books in the series, but after reading this one, you'll want to read them all! The characters are all quite lovable. You get to know their little quirks, see their shining personalities and understand the traumas they carry. I really appreciate that Anne and Lennox are easy to relate to as individuals and while navigating a budding relationship. And who doesn't enjoy some steamy scenes. Self-discovery, new discoveries, new toys, ropes, a private room at a club and much more. Ohhh! There is tons to look forward in this book! I highly recommend grabbing a copy.
Wow….. This is my first Nadia Neale book and I want more. I am going to go back and read the first two books in the series. Taking a chance can be read as a standalone .
This book has some of my favourite elements and tropes, smex club, hockey player, bad boy with tattoos. I’ll need a minute to get my self together.
Annes character development was lovely to read. Watching a woman go from unsure to confident, demanding what she deserves. Always makes me happy.
Lennox is yum, the man completely renovates his own house, is a smex god. He also has some things to over come. He could easily be my newest book boyfriend. Also speaking of that, the book boyfriend scenes were so hot. Like melt into a puddle.
