Gemma Charmichael is a virgin with a tempting beauty most men would like to possess. When Liam Butler sees her seething with anger at a wedding, he’s enraptured by her curves and disappointed that her personality would never work in his bedroom. As a Dom he needs a Sub who resists, not a woman who would fight back. A sleazy co-worker sends Gemma’s fate into Liam’s hands. He finds a sweet, curious, feisty woman who not only sends his passion through the roof, but his heart crashing through his chest cavity.
Longer than a novella but shorter than a novel, this BDSM tale of dominance blooms into love. Character development is Ms. Roberts' strong suit. Liam is not a dark foreboding Dom, but one with room to change, and circumstance brings his heart around. Gemma keeps in character with enough spirit and brains to have the hero eating out of her innocent hand. The dialogue and story arc are a bit unpolished, and the head-hopping might stop the reader’s flow. There’s need for speed in a shorter book, and the plot point used to alter the hero’s heart has been retold many times. There is quite a bit of “seen this before” but nevertheless it’s an enjoyable read with brow-mopping love scenes!
BDSM stories revolve around control, pleasure and character evolution. Readers will find all three in Ms. Roberts novel.
