He’s not looking for salvation. She’s not looking for love.
Dragon Locke is a haunted man. Every day is a relentless battle against the demons of his past. A recovering addict, he wears the scars of a history so brutal, he’s convinced it will destroy anyone who dares to get too close.
Diana Steel is everything Dragon doesn’t deserve. She’s strong and beautiful, and the harder he falls for her, the more he fights to push her away. She deserves a life untouched by his sin, and he’s sworn he won’t subject her to that.
When pieces of his history resurface, dangling the promise of something he lost long ago, Dragon knows he must confront what he’s spent years running from. Diana, freshly wounded by the loss of her own dreams, offers to accompany him. He knows it’s reckless, but he can’t deny her…or the solace she represents.
The search spirals into a journey filled with dark secrets. As danger closes in, Dragon must decide if love can truly be his salvation or if, in the end, he will lose everything
#1 New York Times, #1 USA Today, and #1 Wall Street Journal bestselling author Helen Hardt's passion for the written word began with the books her mother read to her at bedtime. She wrote her first story at age six and hasn’t stopped since. In addition to being an award winning author of contemporary and historical romance and erotica, she’s a mother, an attorney, a black belt in Taekwondo, a grammar geek, an appreciator of fine red wine, and a lover of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. She writes from her home in Colorado, where she lives with her family.
Last we saw Dragon he was looking for a package. He was unclear on who called him, saying that they left something for him. I'm glad the prologue reminds us of what happened last in the first book.
Parts of this book is so gut-wrenching and heartbreaking. You can't help to care for Dragon or cry for him. I love how Diana will do anything for him. Such a great book will keep you wanting to read.
At the start of this book I didn't like dragon I felt he was just throwing pity parties for himself but as we went on and learnt why and more about his past I liked him alot more the end made me so happy and Diana is an amazing character.. I also love how this book was written
I'm not going into deep with this review, I could sit and ramble on about it and how amazing it is, or I can tell you to go and grab a copy. I doubt you'll be disappointed. I believe going blind is the best. This book was unpredictable, and addictive and had my mind reeling the entire way through. When I thought I had started to figure things out, the author threw more curve balls in and left me speechless and anyone who knows me knows that I usually never shut up! My emotions were hung out to dry when it came to Dragon and Diana and their intense, all-consuming relationship and the chemistry between these two was explosive.
This book includes: - a broken man looking for salvation and haunted by his past - a woman determined to make things right - TW: kidnapping, SA (not between main couple), assault, child abandonment, child abuse, animal abuse, murder, mentions of past drug dependency
For fans of: - Haunting Adeline
"I Am Salvation" deals with a lot of dark themes, following a man - Dragon - who is desperate to to find his baby sister after over a decade separated by tragedy and misfortune. With the help of his roommate (aka the girl of his dreams) he sets out to follow any clues towards what happened to his baby sister many years ago after she was kidnapped from her bedroom in the dead of the night.
This is a dark story . It deals with many heavy topics as Dragon tries to heal from his past while still in the depths of trying to untangle his sister's fate. I think Dragon could be a great character, but I didn't feel as if his trauma was appropriately addressed by the author beyond Dragon just kinda hating himself for his past and thinking he's a bad person. He was the victim of some awful, terrible crimes as a child and it is kinda just used as a plot point and "dark past," rather than being thoughtfully addressed. Diana Steele is a well meaning, very wealthy woman who is committed to helping Dragon to uncover the secrets from her past. I think her character is created to be the antithesis of a spoiled rich girl, but I found her naivete to still be a bit frustrating. There were also times I felt that her character was very one dimensional, more an accessory to Dragon than an actual person with her own wants, needs, and motivations. Even her conflict at work fell flat for me. While I don't think i would recommend this book to anyone, I do think there are readers who would enjoy this one very much.
There has been underlying attraction between Dragon and Diana. With him staying at her penthouse to help in recovery we knew things might get heated. What we didn't know was the family life and demons that brought him to where he is today. He is trying to be better but doesn't really believe in himself or that he is worthy of things like love. Diana is able to bring his demons out of him to learn what Jesse and this therapist don't know. In her previous book "I am Sin" Helen left us with a package being left for Dragon at the penthouse. What was in this package leads to some interesting twists and will have you reading on the edge of your seat at times. Helen's writing made it seem I was watching this play out in front of me and not just reading it.
Without spoiling anything, I am going to say the "police scene" had my heart racing and thinking of what Diana might be thinking as I was saying it myself. Love is better than therapy when it comes to Dragon and family love provides even more strength.
Helen gives us another incredible. As we are getting close to the end of the book and everything that has come out, I wasn't sure how this might. It could have gone in different ways.
Thank you, Helen, for another incredible book. Looking forward to the next book.
This is the second book in the Steel Legends series, and it concludes Diana and Dragon’s story. It is not a standalone and is completely unputdownable! These two are all that and a bag of chips. Dragon is working hard to keep his demons at bay, but the past is rearing its ugly head. This prompts him to reach out to find those who left him behind to give him answers to his questions about his younger sister. Diana is Dragon’s ride or d*e, and she is right there by his side for the good, the bad and the ugly. The poignant scenes where Dragon flays himself open to Diana are heart wrenching, but it is the catharsis he needs. For as “opposite” as they may seem, they have each suffered trauma that brings them together through a mutual understanding. The more time they spend together, their attraction just grows stronger, and Diana helps Dragon keep the faith with regards to his sister. Overall, this is one powerful storyline with scenes that could be played out in the real world. Ms. Hardt has done a wonderful job penning an intriguing read with twists and turns and a surprise or two to keep one’s heart beating as the drama unfurls. I recommend this book and cannot wait for the next one!
Dragon and Griffin didn't lead a charmed youth. When Griffin, Dragon's sister, gets attacked with a knife in their own home, Griffin is the one who found her. His parents thought the worst and sent him away to live a life of hell. When Griffin was abducted, his family learned he wasn't the one to blame, but they did nothing to stop the hell he was living in.
Fast forward many years and Dragon is trying to live life the way best he can. He's tipped off that his sister may actually be alive. To protect her, he goes to the only place he can go to get the help he needs, though he's loathe to accept the help but needs must, the Steels. Through the help of a PI, he finds the clues that lead him to his long-lost mother (waste of air if you ask me), and clues to his sister's whereabouts.
Diana just wants to be the best she can, on her own merit. But when right vs. wrong comes into play, Diana must choose what she's willing to live with. But at what cost?
It was great watching Diana and Dragon fall in love. The ending was satisfying, and I enjoyed listening to the narrator as well. I'd like to thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author, for the opportunity to review this book.

This book wraps up the first installment of the Steel Legends. Ms. Hardt left us with a pretty big cliffhanger. Dragon Locke has some things to figure out. He goes back to the private investigator Diana set him up with. They start looking for his parents after he gets a package. Despite Dragon's claim to be sin, he has a lot of friends that have his back without question. Those friends include Diana Steel. Diana had some demons to deal with at work. While Dragon was figuring out where to find his parents, Diana was battling her morals.
Diana decided to take part in the journey that Dragon was embarking on with him. Maybe, just maybe, she will find out why he thinks he is sin. After reaching back into his past, Dragon is forced to open up to Diana. She needs to know why they are trying to find his parents. Diana shows her Steel spirit and stands beside Dragon every step of the way. To get the full story, please read this series. These first two books are a doozy. Readers finally find out why Dragon is sin. Can Diana be the salvation his soul needs?
This is a book you won’t be able to put down once you start it!!
Dragon and Diana’s story continues from a cliffhanger from the first book, I Am Sin. So many demons Dragon is fighting within himself. So many things come to light that turn into mysteries that have to be solved. Diana gets enlightened on all of his demons and she is determined to help him solve the mysteries of his past. So much action in this book as well. They are totally opposites, though. Yes, there are steamy scenes, but can Dragon ever fully let go and become a man he never thought he could? Can he ever fall in love when he doesn’t know what love is? Can Diana break the walls around his heart and make him a better man? These are strong characters, but can they show vulnerability to fall in love? Just know that Diana is Dragon’s salvation. I love all the Steel books and this one doesn’t disappoint either.
I am so, so in love with this couple, and with this whole story line. Dragon has been one of the characters whose story I wanted to know and the fact that Diana helps him.. makes me like her as well. In this installment, we learn more about Dragon and what his life was like. My heart goes out to that small boy whose heart was broken by his parents, I can’t fathom that nor any of the other things he suffered in his life. He deserved far better, and still deserves good in his life.
Will he get it?! Read and find out. You'll love the book.
Helen Hardt is an author I will read no matter what she writes. I love the people she writes about and how she crafts her storylines. The Steel family is a favorite for me. I’ve enjoyed every single story in this series. I’m so glad to read these books and will continue. If you have not read Helen Hardt, you should.. and if you have, you know what I’m talking about. There is always a twist or turn that keeps you involved and guessing.
Dragon & Diana’s story is concluded in this heartbreaking and mending story.
In all her glory Helen brings us another story that pulls all the heart strings. The fact she hits all the emotions in one swipe is incredible. Dragon is determined to find his baby sister who's been missing for 20+ years and with Diana at his side he's both grateful and terrified. He doesn't do well with asking others for help. Dragon has a secret buried deep and he doesn't like to let it out. With Diana’s string support and her relentless personality Dragon falls that much more for her and breaks all his rules and lets his walls tumble down.
His mission to find out of the mysterious caller has been just putting him on a wild goose chase or if he's that much closer to finding his sister. His past comes back to haunt him but Diana’s love is giving him nerves of steel! He's going to make up for his past and find his Salvation!
I received an advance copy yesterday, I started it yesterday and once I began the 2nd of this two-part story; I could not put it down until I finished it yesterday. Dragon and Diana have needed their own stories since the Steel Series introduced them. Diana overcame trauma at a young age when she was drugged as a teenager and Dragon has led a lifetime of trauma, neglect, and addiction from the time he was nine. In "I AM SIN" book 1, Diana and Dragon are finding their attraction to each other just cannot be ignored. That attraction continues and grows stronger and steamier in Book 2. But passion aside, can Dragon admit he loves her when no one but his sister has ever shown him love? And speaking of Griffin, his sister, will Dragon ever learn what happened to her when she disappeared at 5? I could not put it down!
I couldn't put Book #1, I Am Sin, down and was so excited to receive an ARC of I Am Salvation, the second book featuring the story of Diana Steel and Dragon Locke. Holy Flashbacks! I found some of Dragon's backstory to be repetitive and slow. Much of his story could have been answered in conversation with Diana. The author loves a good flashback, and while it was used effectively in the Steel Saga, I just felt the technique was overused here. Several chapters go quite quickly as you are flashing back to the same event with a few additional important details.
That said, I was happy to revisit one of my favorite fictional families and learn Dragon's backstory. It is a fast read that you won't be able to put down. A word of caution: if you have worked in child welfare and/or law enforcement be prepared to suspend reality. That is all I can see to keep this review spoiler free.
Holy cow! So much happening in this book. You get to a point in this book where you absolutely cannot put it down! So many feels for Dragon and his sister Griffin in this book. So hard to read some of that. But Dragon and Diana Steel go on a journey to find the truth about his sister, where she is, and what happened to her. They get closer and closer and make a deeper connection with each other. Diana falls in love, but Dragon thinks he’s evil - sin. I mean, that’s why his parents gave him away - right? The flashbacks are hard to read and reminisce of many of the Steel Brother books where backstory is explained through flashbacks. I absolutely loved reading this book and I hope the characters will be revisited in other books to check in with them. Both these books in this series are must reads! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I Am Salvation is book 2 in this series with I Am Sin as book 1. Dragon and Diana’s story continues with Dragon opening up to Diana more about his past and the pain he has suffered. They are finding their way to each other even though they have led very different lives and it’s hard for Dragon to feel he deserves anything good. Things start happening where Dragon is searching for people in his past that could possibly open up a life he could have never imagined.
I was eagerly waiting for this book and it didn't disappoint. I knew Dragon had a gut wrenching story and couldn’t wait for him to get his happy ever after. Of course any Steel character in a book is icing on the cake. The author has done a wonderful job with the plot, characters and tying it all up together quite nicely. I throughly enjoyed this series and recommend it for a great read.
Im sorry to say that you should not read this book without reading the first in the series. Even tough this is about its own couple it was very obvious that I was missing stuff. They talked about times that I had no information about. Im not sure what this book was supposed to be. I thought it was supposed to be a romance book but it was more of a subplot. I don’t mind that if the story is good but I felt like there wasn’t enough to the story (or the romance). I felt like half the book was missing. If your reading this for the romance be prepared to have no tension and honestly no beginning. They just were together from the start. Like I said, it definitely felt like something was missing. Did their story start in the first book?
I listen to this and the narrators did an amazing job!
This book delves into the lives of characters who have been deeply scarred by their past experiences. They carry the weight of dark secrets and navigate a treacherous landscape where danger lurks around every corner. As they grapple with the ghosts of their past, they also discover the transformative power of love. This emotionally intense romance explores the complexities of human connection and the resilience of the human spirit. It's a tale of redemption, where love offers a glimmer of hope in the darkest of times, and the characters learn to confront their demons and find healing in the embrace of another. Readers who are drawn to stories that delve into the depths of human emotion, explore the complexities of trauma, and showcase the enduring power of love will find this book captivating.
Dragon Locke has demons. A recovering additct and secrets not everyone knows about. Dragon is convinced he destroys everything he loves and keeps himself at a distance.
Diana Steel is a strong, independent woman who knows what she wants, and she wants Dragon, but he keeps her at arms length because she deserves better.
When parts of his past that he lost years ago start to reappear, Dragon must realise he has to confront his fears. Finding out his sister could be still alive, he is determined to find her. With the help of Diana, can Dragon finally heal and get everything back that he has lost?
Reading the Steel Brothers Saga, Dargon was always part of them in the background. This series has been brilliant and finally getting to know the man behind his demons.
I really struggled with this one. The MMC is named Dragon ...keep in mind this is not a romantacy book and there wasn't a real explanation that could make me hate the name less. Him saying "I am sin" and the multiple forms of smexual abuse had me in cringe mode. I also could not connect to the FMC - her architectural story fizzled quickly and then she was just there to tell Dragon that he isn't sin and give him money?
I did enjoy the brother searching for his sister - right idea but just not the execution I had hoped for. The cover is also beautiful. Had this had a few more drafts with feedback, it could have been great.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I Am Salvation is the conclusion to Diana Steel and Dragon Locke. Two people who when you think of them you would never consider them for each other. Yet, they are the light to the dark for each other. Once they open up and really listen to each other there is nothing they can not accomplish together.
We know of Diana's past and now Dragon's past starts to unfold and you find out the hell and misery this man has gone thru. You find out the reason for why Dragon is as he is and your heart just hurts.
How this book ends is just astonishing and how Dragon's life has completely turned around is amazing.
Can't wait for the next Steel Legacy book and see who is up!!
Dual Narration - Chloe Ryan & Jaime Lincoln Smith Great voices
Dragon and Diana are both battling some things. Dragon is determined to find his parents and find out what happened to his sister. While Diana is battling some internal problems and at work.
These two embark a a journey of sorts together. Dragon hasn’t filled Diana in on the reasons he’s trying to find his parents. She desperately wants to know and help him. She stands by him through everything they encounter.
Could Diana be the one Dragon had needed all along?
This book was really enjoyable. I liked Helen’s writing and enjoyed the story.
The is book two and can not be read as a standalone
This conclusion will take you on an emotional roller coaster of a journey. Action packed with steamy scenes that are hot but also emotional. Dragon’s past was exposed to us and it was definitely heartbreaking. The sharing of his story with Diana was a major breakthrough for him. He always cslled himself sin, she was definitely his salvation. He acceptance of him no questions asked showed him that he was worthy of love.
The mystery and angst with his missing sister added a thrill to the plot. It was fast paced and shocking. I loved the happy ending. Dragon deserved it all.
This is the second book in the Steel Legends series and it didn’t disappoint. The story continues about Dragon and Diana relationship. They are from totally opposite worlds, but opposites do attract and their relationship is full of steamy attraction. Can Dragon find what he is looking for from years past and can he open up to Diana who is battling her own problems? Can they show eachother the love that they truly deserve? You have to read to find out. I loved their story a lot. Thank you Helen!
Sometimes what you're most afraid of doing is the thing that will set you free...
Dragon continues to fight and overcome his demons. He feels like he is getting nowhere and sinking fast. Diana Steel is his one ray of hope. She will never give up on him and is determined to help him unravel and face his past. He believes he is not worth the effort and holds his secrets close.
The two of them are drawn to each other and their attraction grows quickly. This is a very fast paced story and so worth the read.
Book 2 of Diana and Dragon. I loved this book continuing their story. Dragon has a lot to figure out about himself and his feelings for Diana. As Dragons feelings evolve something from his past comes back and realizes that he can't handle the situation without Diana at his side.
I love the plot that carried on from the first book. It really helped to see every thing come back and adds to the thickening plot. All if the authors characters in this book and others are alpha males and fiesty women.
This duo being The Steel legends, I wonder if the author will add more to the series.
Dragon may be on the verge of finding his baby sister and he also found out he is a uncle.Diana came along since she isn't working and she didn't want to leave her man on his own.Dragon does see his mother while searching for his sister which was a waste on time. They got leads on where his sister and swat and Dragon go in and get her.I like this part of story better than the first part of this story.Diana got Dragon to finally open up about his life when he was in the group homes and what he did to stay alive.Story was well written!
Every time I read a book by Helen Hardt I know it’s going to be good. I have stuck with the Steel Brothers since book 1 and I have never wanted any of the books to end. I have waited impatiently for each next book and I really thought it was wrapped up nicely. Who knew it wasn’t the end? I almost lost my mind when I found out about Dragon and Diana’s books. Once again, Helen Hardt delivered on a story like no other that brought heat, suspense and twists and turns that she is now for. The story line was original. The characters were endearing and I fell in Iove with Dragon. I am so excited to see what comes next whether it be the Steels or another group of characters. I recommend starting this series with book one and let it take you on an adventure.
I Am Salvation is a continued story from Helen Hardt's I Am Sin. We continue the story of Dragon and Diana. They have an amazing story together. Will they find the love that they deserve? What was in the package that was left at the end of I Am Sin? We will have many answers to those mysteries and more of Dragon's heartbreaking back story. Can Diana help heal Dragon? I highly recommend this book from Helen Hardt!
I love a bad boy and a good girl story and this one hit the spot! This is the second book in Dragon and Diana’s story, you need to read the first one before, but it was worth the wait.It takes alot of trust to open up about his past but Diana has perseverance to understand why Dragon feels he’s broken.Neither of them was looking for a relationship but as time goes on they realize they can’t fight it.The mystery and hot scenes make a five * read.I highly recommend the two books!
This is the second book in the Steel Legends. Diana never liked the bad boys. But doing favor and letting Dragon stay with her for a while she cannot stop thinking of him. He a lot more than she ever expected. Dragon cannot believe how outstanding Diana is. Not only is she letting him stay she’s super good looking. They get closer and find out you don’t give up on your feelings even if you think they are not what you want. Open your mind and your heart.
