All Keegan wanted was a roommate who was quiet, minded their own business, and paid for part of the rent. Instead, she got Camden Brooks.
Camden, with his sinful body, sharp tongue, and the inability to stay out of Keegan’s personal space, couldn’t seem to curb his interest in the new girl who wouldn’t put up with his domineering ways.
Feelings were running rampant, sexual tension was thick, and both were struggling to let go of control.
To some people, getting a roommate simply meant living with another person. But to both Camden and Keegan it was a curveball that neither was prepared to swing at.
**Strong sexual content** Can be read as a stand alone. Each brother will have their own book. (A 96,000 word novel)

What can I say...I'm sorry, but Keegan ruined this one for me. I found her to be too insecure, too whiney, and too immature.
Keegan is twenty, she's in college, she currently lives at home with her single mom and her 8 year old sister Sarah. She's had to be the parent for her sister while her mom works and does other things. Her school starts to suffer because of it.
So, Keegan decides to get her own apartment...forcing her mom to be the parent and take responsibility for Sarah. Enter Camden. Camden is broody, angry and set in his ways.
He's maybe even a bit of an ass....no more so then some other hero's I have read about. And yes, at one point he calls Keegan chubby. Which I found his reasoning for doing so to be
But whatever, I actually liked Camden. Keegan coming to live with him kind of shook up his whole world. And once he finally admitted how he felt about Keegan he was really sweet. He definitely needed control in his life, in all ways. Which was definitely hot....hello, gym sex!
When I came to the first sex scene and it was fade to black, I'm not going to lie I was a little worried. But rest assured the remainder of the sex scenes were plently hot. So no complaints here.
Overall, the story itself wasn't bad. I just didn't like Keegan as a heroine. She spent the majority of the book informing us how inferior she was to everyone else. How chubby she was, how plain she was, how short she was. There was no way Camden could be attracted to someone like her....blah, blah, blah.
It was just too much. And her antics at the end...REDIC!
This was my first time reading this author. I found her writing style to be more describing everything that was happening. Like you were in the characters heads more than anything. So I didn't feel what was going on...I was told.
The remaining books in the series will be about Camden's other three brothers. Because my issue with this book was more with the heroine, then the story itself I will consider reading the other books in the series.
Title: Bender Series: The Core Four #1 Author: Stacy Borel Release Date: April 20, 2014 Rating: 4.25 stars Cliffhanger:. No HEA:
Bender is my first time reading Stacy Borel’s work. Before starting it, I didn’t know what to expect. Frankly, I had no real idea what this story is about, but I decided to go for it. Being absolute cover whore, I was immediately in lust with this panty dropping guy in the middle of this one, so I totally had to read this. And I’m not regretting doing so! I had so much fun. I laughed, I swooned, I needed to fan myself with my ereader a couple of times, and yes I was frustrated and heartbroken, but overall, the positive aspects of this novel won me over.
This story is about twenty year old Keegan. She’s going to college to become a nurse, but she’s having hard time studying and focusing on her life, because she has to act like a parent toward her eight year old sister. She’s tired of constantly taking care of her sister and house, while her mother leads very ‘social’ life and takes no responsibility over her daughter. That’s why Keegan decides that it’s time to show her mother she has to act like an adult and suck it up. She moves out of her home to live with very broody, sexy gym owner, Camden. He’s dominant alpha male, that doesn’t take any bullshit.
The book gets very interesting and steamy as the characters grow closer. Especially because they share of the charts sexual chemistry but are too busy with fighting, name calling and teasing each other to realize they want more. This two nemesis, living under the same roof are ready to burn the house down to get what they want.
Bender is a book a reader either completely loves or hates. Why? Because as much as the plot was very dynamic and sexy, and the hero awesome, the heroine could be over the top and frustrating. She can ruin the story for most of the readers. Yes I confess, Keegan was very irritating, especially because of her insecurities… Almost every few pages, she mentioned how fat she was… She felt very unconfident about her curvy body. For many of the readers it can be a deal breaker… For me, fortunately it was something I could overlook, as I am trying to not to be hypocrite and judge her badly because I too am not exactly comfortable in my own skin. So I closed my eyes on that one.
On the other hand, even though Keegan could act immature and be serious pain the ass, she has had her moments. Her stubbornness was funny and adorable and I loved how crazy she acted while being next to Camden.
So maybe the heroine wasn’t the best, but the hero was one of the best yummy alpha male I’ve read about in quite some time. I instantly fell in love with Camden. He was awesome! So sexy, broody and god he knew how to win an argument. The banter between Camden and Keegan was amazing! So freaking hot and funny, I was grinning like an idiot for most of the book! I also liked Camden’s brothers. I definitely can’t wait to read their stories! I hope they would be awesome.
Summing up, I loved this story. The sexual chemistry was PERFECT. The sex AMAZINGLY HOT. The love/hate relationship Camden and Keegan had going on absolutely mesmerizing and funny. I recommend this book for those of you that can enjoy book even though heroine is annoying. But I promise, the hero is worth putting up with Keegan’s silly actions.
I’m bummed that I didn’t love this one as much as everyone else did. It certainly started off very promising as I couldn’t stop giggling over Macie (best friend) and Keegan’s search for a roommate; however I didn’t like the plot pacing and the major conflicts in the story were quite lame so the overall feeling I took away after finishing was MEH.
Keegan’s currently in college and because of her irresponsible mother, she’s also stepped into the role of parent to her much younger sister Sarah. Finally tired of juggling familial duties with her personal and school life, Keegan (along with Macie) go out and search for a roommate for her to live with and to put distance between Keegan and her mom. This is how she meets Camden – the silent, brooding guy who just grunts and stares at Keegan for a good half of the book.
I have extreme distaste for books that are hot and cold – meaning if the hero and/or heroine jump back and forth between “I really care about you” to “Get out of my face” it makes me want to punch something and throw the two MCs in a closet, tell them to have hot closet sex, and don’t come out until they proclaim their love for each other. Some people call the back and forth angst; I call it stupid. The end.
Another thing that made me go huh was the heroine’s contradictory behavior. For someone who is mature – taking care of her sister and shouldering so much responsibility – she throws the ugliest tantrums. Oh and let’s not forget how obsessed she is with her looks. I like confident heroines (or at least female leads who don’t wallow in a pool of self-pity) and I lost count the number of times Keegan would say how curvy and plump she was compared to other girls - like she just couldn't believe anyone like Camden could like her.
Anyways, there were very noteworthy moments in the book – some scenes were amazingly witty and humorous and had me laughing out loud; however in the grand scheme of things, I finished the book with a bummed out feeling. Here’s a case where a jerkish hero and an annoyingly dense heroine ruins a story.

Wow...this book was such a great surprise! I really liked this one! It is a fun, light, sweet and steamy read! There is a rude and always angry guy (sometimes a total asshole) and a girl that will find a way to melt his heart.
“You were made me for Blue. You’re my person.”
Keegan is tired of taking the responsibility of being a mother to her little sister. Their actual mother is simply a mess and she is never home. So Keegan decides she needs to move out in order to have some time for her studies. She finds three interesting offers and goes to check the places. Two of them are a total disaster but the third one...ohhhh it’s a winner- amazing place, good rent and a HOOOTTT guy (score!!!). Well...after realising that the hot guy is also an asshole, Keegan will have to find a way to live with him without killing him! But soon she finds his attitude and hotness quite distracting and she starts to like it.
Camden’s brother decides to help him look for a roommate and without him being there his brother actually finds him one- a girl. He doesn’t like the idea at first but then...he finds out she is different! She is kind, cares about people and doesn’t put up with his bullshit. Will he be able to resist her?!?
“...with that one look, I knew you were the girl who could ruin me.”
I like the story, I like the drama and I absolutely love Camden! Yes, he is a total jerk at the beginning and I really wanted to hate him few times but he won me over! His brothers (especially Dodger) are amazing too. They all are so funny and entertaining. I can’t wait to read their stories!
So...to sum it up- “Bender” is a light and fun read. I enjoyed it and I will read all the other books in the series (hopefully book 2 will be released soon).
Bender has all of the ingredients to be an amazing read. Hot Alpha Male-check, sweet heroine just looking to make her way-check, the great bestie-check, family issues-check, and some smoking hot sex scenes-tripple check! Now to get down to the nitty gritty.
I found the first 50 % of the book to be like driving a stick shift in the middle of Manhattan's rush hour. Keegan is the heroine in the story. She has spent her entire life playing mom for her little sister. Keegan's mom is irresponsible. I felt like this element of the story needed to be explored a bit more. Keegan's mom wasn't really abusive just immature and slightly detached from her children. The reason Keegan decided to move out on her own was to separate herself from her mom. Keegan hoped it would force her to be a better parent to her little sister. Frankly, I found this to be a little confusing. If she was worried that her mom wasn't taking good enough care of her sister, why would she leave her sister in the first place?
The search for the perfect living arrangement begins. Keegan is, of course, drawn to an attractive man who is offering her an unbelievable deal to move in with him. Completely unbelievable but....whatever....
As soon as Keegan meets Camden, she falls hard. I mean he is the definition of one HOT MAN! There is only one problem. He is a complete jerk!
“Which chick are we talking here? The pretty one, or the chubby one?”-Camden
OUCH!
The story continues to develop. Camden's brother is hanging out with Keegan's BFF (I see a future story line beginning here). Camden continues to put down and ignore Keegan. (Why...? We aren't really sure....and frankly, he was such a jerk that I really didn't care). Keegan has such a low self esteem. I couldn't help but feel sorry for her and start a fund for some group therapy for that girl! Put on some Christina Aguilara "Beautiful" and give that girl a trip to the spa! (And can I just add that I would kill to be a size 10....since when did that become chubby?)
Finally (after about 50%), Keegan and Camden hook up. Supposedly the reason Camden was being such a jerk was because he is head over heals for Keegan. (Really? I had to check the cover and confirm I wasn't reading a book about junior high kids!) Alright, all kidding aside the story really did turn around for me here. What I saw was two people learning to build each other up. There were some amazing steamy scenes between these two. (A trip to the gym will never be the same for me again and I mean ever!)
Camden is quite the protective man. He cares for Keegan in a way that she has always wanted to be loved.
“She’s mine now. You so much as look at her, blink at her, breath the same air that she breathes, or attempt to contact her again , I will break you. There will be nothing that she says that will stop me from putting you in the ground. You feel me?”-Camden
Camden's family is amazing. He has a slue of hot brothers (can we say several HOT follow up books are sure to come)! The time spent with his family was like coming home for the holidays.
Keegan and her mom find away to healing. There were a few more misunderstandings and some silly behavior from both of our main characters. However, the end of the book really rounded out to be a nice story. Can I recommend this book? If you are patient, able to read between the lines, you enjoy a strong protective alpha male, you don't mind an insecure heroine, than you will enjoy this book. Will I read the next book in the series? Probably! At the end of the day, a good book doesn't have to be perfect. Reading is a gift where we find meaningful characters going through life in an interesting way.
"You were made me for Blue. You’re my person."-Camden
When I started this book, it seemed that I would enjoy it. Then.....
I didn't get Keegan at all. What made her so likeable? Why was Dodger saying he loved her after a week/month, whatever... her little sister was a way better character. Then her violent reactions to difficult situations? Yeah, not happening. I also didn't understand what the big deal was with her furniture. So she didn't have a dresser or a proper bed. It's not the end of the world, she is a college student all she needs is her trusty air mattress, a spool and some milk crates. Bam, problem solved. Then there's that age old problem, editing. Le sigh.
The author has a limited vocabulary as evinced by her mistakes with homophones and prefixes that create antonyms etc.
Her grasp on grammar isn't any better. This book is riddled with tense errors.
Then there's her complete lack of originality in terms of plot, this book being a composite of FSoG, Bared to You, every Kristen Ashley book, and Beautiful DIsaster.
Every line of 'dialogue' has been uttered before, every 'plot' development torn from another ridiculous predecessor, every 'characterisation' that which is already overly familiar. NA is nearly total rubbish as a genre right now, and even amongst such, this book is conspicuous in its triteness.
It is nonsense.
Ps: blond, chubby, and chocolate eyes repeated ad nauseum!
Pps: these people have sex without a condom, without the mention of a condom, without conversation about contraception, and without conception or contraction of diseases. Seriously?
Keegan is a college student feeling the weight of the world on her shoulders. For the past eight years she has been taking care of her younger sister while her mom party's her way around town. Finally having enough she decides to move out so she can focus on her studies and get closer to reaching her goal of getting her nursing license. She finds the perfect apartment for a really good price and thinks all is well. She just never expected to have a roommate like Camden. Rude, in your face, controlling - oh, and sexy as fuck. She does her best to avoid him, but once Camden decided he's had enough of her hiding, she has no where to run.
This story had some bumps, but for the most part I really enjoyed it. It started off kind of slow and Keegan and Camden didn't start their relationship until later in the book. A lot of the beginning seemed unnecessary to me but it was interesting to read. I was just impatient to get to the smexy parts. But oh boy, when those parts finally happened I think my crotch was about to catch on fire. Camden was hot as hell and some of the things he did - well let's just say you might not want to be in public for those parts.
At first I wasn't sure if I would like Camden and was nervous about getting more of him. I thought he was sexy as hell but rude and frustrating. Luckily what more we learned made me like him a lot and I loved how sweet he was with Keegan even when she was being a total biotch, We saw a completely different side of him in the second half of the book that was gentle and caring and ten times more hot. It was even hotter when he was being all possessive Alpha and completely yummy.
Keegan was just another annoying heroine in my long list of heroines that I want to throat punch. There were parts where she was okay, but for the most part I hated how she acted. It was one extreme after the other with her. She loved to complain about how hard her life had been and still was, how she wasn't good enough or pretty enough and then how Camden wouldn't want her for long. I was getting really annoyed with her putting herself down one moment and then thinking she's the best because she cared for her sister. Up until the end, I was dealing with her character and it wasn't anything more than some annoyances. But when she had her major freak out at the end I was ready to choke her and I felt bad that Camden had to deal with her.
Overall, Bender was a good story that had super hot moments and that kept my attention. Despite the heroine being annoying and the beginning a little slow I really did enjoy this one. The love-hate realtionship that Camden and Keegan had was really fun and kept me on the edge of my seat, waiting for what they would do next. I can't wait to read Turner's story and hope I won't have to wait too long for it.
This was a really light, cute, no fuss, happy-go lucky kind of book. It was recommended to me and I have to say, it was a delight to read.
Summary
Keegan lives with her mom and little sister. She loves her little sister, but she feels like she is more parent than sibling. Keegan notices an ad. Someone is looking for a roommate, it’s in a good area and the rent is cheap. When Keegan arrives, she knows the apartment is perfect for her, but when she signs the lease, she realizes the person who showed her the apartment wouldn’t be her roommate, and instead her roommate would be the brother, Camden.
Review
I love the plot, don’t you? When Keegan and Camden first interact, it’s just funny and there’s awesome tension and banter. Camden is a jerk. He works out, owns a gym and is beautiful. Keegan is a curvy short girl and is nothing like the girls Camden dates. Keegan has low self-esteem, but is very self-sufficient.
Keegan
I really liked Keegan because she’s like a typical girl. She’s has school, work, family and friends. Her mom isn’t the greatest mom in the world, but Keegan tries to not let that affect her. Keegan rolls with the punches when Camden gives her the hot and cold act.
It’s too cute.
Camden
Camden is not nice. He’s a bad boy Hero and you want to punch him in the face and jump him at the same time. He brings girls to the apartment that’s tall and skinny and has his way with them. He also tries to be nice to Keegan, by cooking her breakfast, but Keegan doesn’t want anything to do with Camden.
Overall
I love the give and take banter between Camden and Keegan. I also love that they are roommates. It’s just too entertaining reading their interaction. The book keeps a moving forward pace and I really light up when Keegan starts dating. Who doesn’t love a jealous Hero?
I don’t really understand the title, but other than that, it’s a great read.
Received an early copy of Bender and there are not enough words to tell you how much I LOVE it!!!! Stacy Borel did amazing. Hot alpha male who doesn't take crap from anyone. Really do I need to go on?
Keegan is looking to move out on her own, gain some independence and live the life of a normal young college student. She has a huge heart when it comes to her little sister and no matter how pissed she gets at her mom for not "raising" her, Keegan is always there no matter what. It's when she meets Camden that she realizes just how much of a chance she is going to get.
Camden pushes her to the limits in more ways than one. He won't let her get away with anything and as much as he seems like a complete controlling asshole deep down he has her best interest at heart. But Keegan isn't one to be walked all over by any means. She is feisty and lets him know it.
There is also Dodger, Camden's brother, who is always there but knows when to stay out of the way when it comes to his brother.
Camden and Keegan together are AMAZING! And Camden is freaking HOT!!! You will laugh, cry and need a cold shower. You do not want to miss this book by any means. Make sure you get your hands on it as soon as you can. This is definitely on my list for top read of 2014 and all time.
Good...but Keegan a bit too YA for me tastes. Also, we are to believe she is a sweet innocent good girl, who happens to keep the downtown street plowed, can deep, throat and goes condom free with two different guys in the same week???
Full review: This book stated that it is a standalone, but each of the four brothers will have their own book. I was totally lusting on this cover so I one-clicked super quick and read the other night…well, I was a bit disappointed. Keegan a bit too YA for me tastes. Also, we are to believe she is a sweet innocent good girl, who happens to keep the downtown streets plowed, can deep throat and goes condom free with two different guys in the same week???
Those complaints aside, I liked Camden and his brother Dodge. Keegan was a paradox. Over the top protective of her sister and yet willing to walk out on her family to get her mom to be the mother she needs to be for her sister. While I could not understand the relationship between Keegan and her mom, I felt both women have a lot of growing up to do. I expected more from this book and I don’t know why. I liked Camden but he was a jerk most of the time without any explanation as to why. Then add Luke, some gym rat at Camden’s gym who moves in on Keegan and the two hook up after life two weeks. Some parts are described in great detail and others not at all. One aspect that totally put me off was Luke staying over, Keegan ‘enjoying’ the night even though the bigO happened there were no sparks. (Aside: what on earth are you doing allowing a man into your body if there are no sparks???). Then not three nights later, Camden is excited to see his mark on her thigh before he cleans her up…gag! Does YA/NA mean no one knows about safe sex??? For those who like NA, this one is good but for those of us who actually want **Strong sexual content**, this is not the kind of story for you. But I still give it a 3 ½ stars. And, I have to say that I will be reading the rest of the brothers, because Turner and Dodge are totally interesting and I am hoping that they will have older women with some more life on them. The teaser at the end for book #2 made me want to buy it right now! Enjoy!
It wasn't just m book, Keegan was annoying and felt like knocking her head. This book def had so many potentials but it just didn't hit the mark for me.
I’ve been in kind of a book rut lately and this was the perfect book to bring me out of my slump.
It made me laugh and has a lighter feel to it. Oh, and did I mention it is filled with undoubtedly Alpha Hotness? I mean you have Camden and then he has not one, not two…but THREE brothers who are just as hot and just as alpha as he is! *swoon*
Holy crispy cracker this book had my temperature rising and made me frustrated to no end (and not the kind of frustrated that makes my head want to explode…if you know what I mean).
*wink wink*
div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Keegan just wants a life of her own. A life where she can get away from the heavy responsibilities that have been laid upon her. And her only way to do that is to move out of her mom’s house and live like any normal twenty year old college student would. She’s seen a couple of places (which made me seriously laugh out in hysterics) and it terrifies her. Her last option almost seems too good to be true. It’s beautiful and clean and she has her own space (and it even has a door, hahaha).
But, what she wasn’t expecting was Camden.
Camden is… *sigh*… an ASS! Yep, totally an ass from the second he meets Keegan. If looks could kill Keegan would be a goner and if words could slice she’d be in a million pieces.
I seriously wanted to jump through my kindle and kick his ass for her. I could not believe the things that came out of his mouth!
If I were Keegan I would have wanted to just hide under the table and cry. But her, no Keegan stands up for herself and despite wanting to run away she looks him straight in the eye and gives as good as she gets. I absolutely LOVED her. She is so honest and true. She is quick witted, has a heart of gold and has a mouth on her that can give a good lashing when it needs to.
And boy does she put it to good use.
I just love the whole love/hate roommate storyline. The sexual tension is always dangerously high and if written right could rival any good sex scene…and boy this book does that!
Normally I get frustrated if an author waits to long in a book before diving into a good romance scene but my god, the banter and tension between Camden and Keegan is explosively hot. I loved every second of it.
Camden is a gym owner with a perfectly chiseled body and Keegan is your everyday girl with many responsibilities and self-esteem/body issues. So moving in with this perfect male specimen and watching him flaunt his tall and thin one night stands in and out of the apartment is like a punch to the gut. “I’d really appreciate it if you’d stop brining your stick figured, zero percent body fat, fake boob, airhead bimbos in my house. And yes, it’s also my house. I have a contract that says so.”
But she can’t understand why. Why should she care what or who he does? If he’s not slaying her with insults then he’s ignoring her and treating her like a nobody.
So why on earth does she feel this undeniable attraction to him? And why on earth does he feel the need to protect and take care of her? It confuses her. His actions say one thing and his words and looks say another. It leaves her completely confused.
Despite everything that has happened between them, she knows without a doubt that he would do absolutely anything to protect her and never do anything to intentionally harm her. Confusion and hurt wracked my body like a tidal wave. It came slamming into me when I wasn’t prepared. Nothing felt right, and yet in his arms everything felt right.
I’m telling you that when these two finally give in to their attraction you will see fireworks. My god, I’m quivering just thinking about it. Camden and his dominating dirty mouth and Keegan and her sweet innocence.
It’s an explosive combination. One that will surely leave you hot, bothered, and with a huge grin on your face!
div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Still suffering from her self-consciousness, Keegan can’t quite believe that he Camden would be interested in her but his words…
Camden is just the perfect mix of everything. He has just made it onto my favorites list for BB’s. Yeah, he starts out as a complete ass but by the end of this story he will be embedded so far into your book lovin’ heart that you will be left with one hell of a book hangover.
This story is made up of a bunch of amazing characters. Keegan’s best friend Macie is awesome. I love Sarah, Keegan’s little sister. She was super cute. Oh, and did I mention that Camden has three brothers? Yeah, I think I did but it’s worth mentioning twice… we will get to read their stories too and I can’t wait. Especially Dodger’s. Man that guy is crazy sexy awesome. This book is filled to the brink with Alpha-ness and I could not get enough.
Stacy Borel has just hooked me. Plain and simple. I will definitely be adding the rest of this series to my must read list. P.S. LOVE the cover! “I’ll give you more. Is that what you want?”
he growled, frustration plastered on his face. “Give me all you’ve got.”
“Little girl, you’ve just stepped into the big leagues.”

I just finished reading Bender and I just freaking loved it. You have to read this to understand but what a book! This book is about Camden and Keegan. Keegan is having trouble in school. She doesn’t have a lot of time to get school work done. She has been taking care of her little sister Sarah while her mother is working and doing what she wants to do. Keegan is basically being the parent. Finally having enough, Keegan looks to move out. With her best friend Macie in toe, goes about trying to remedy the situation. She ends up finding a place but what she didn’t expect was the tall, dark and brooding Camden. He is a bit of a conundrum. He is a smart ass one minute to caring the next. She honestly doesn’t know how to take him. Camden doesn’t understand why is protective streak is at an all time high, all he knows is that he wants her but then doesn’t. With them being roommates, they try to not cross the imaginary line. Try being the key word. So what will happen when those lines are crossed? You will have to read and see…
Camden, Camden, Camden. Wow, he is just sexy and brooding. He is my type of man, that’s for sure. What I love most about him is that he is loyal to a fault. When someone is hurting he is there no matter the consequences and he is there for Keegan. He tries to keep things in control because that is just how he is but Keegan just makes him question everything and that was the most fun to read. Watching him fall was one of the best ever!
Keegan, I just love her. She had the right amount of grit that I want in a heroine. She definitely keeps Camden on his toes. I did really feel bad for her. She is a sweet girl with a bad break. She is only trying to better her life and honestly doesn’t regret taking care of Sarah but she does have to think about herself. What I loved best about her is that she doesn’t take anyone’s crap. She is an honest person and expects honesty, who can blame the girl. Isn’t that all we want?
Camden and Keegan’s chemistry was just HOT!. The sexual tension that they had was so thick that you couldn’t even cut it with the thickest knife imaginable. Seriously, was so hot to read you just couldn’t help but jump up and down when they finally jumped each other. One of the other things that I loved about them was that they took their time with each other. It was a roommate situation at first but once they were able to acknowledge that they cared about one another it turned into a friendship. It wasn’t “Oh lets be roommates but then lets screw like bunnies” type of thing, it was progressed in the right way for it to be great for me.
The story lined ROCKED!!! Everything about this was amazing. The story, the characters, the obstacles, and even the little things were just on par that I just sat back and enjoyed this roller coaster ride. It will have you smiling, laughing, hell even my heart was racing when theirs were! Honestly, you have to get this one. I have gotten to read her other books and for me this was the best one yet and I cannot wait to see what happens. I am a follower of hers, that’s for sure!
3,5 Stars! I liked this book so much! It was funny, hot and overall an easy read. Although it had its problems, that didn't trouble me much.
Let's start with the story. Keegan decides she had enough with her mother and is looking for an apartment to live on her own. After some pretty entertaining attempts she finds herself up in Camden's house.
Camden is broody, a little obnoxious and hotter than hell. When they finally end up as roommates the real fun begins, with a best friend who is absolutely hilarious -Macie- a brother that is typically annoying and awesome -Dodger- and a sweet little sister -Sarah- the things are bound to become complicated.
The truth is i had so much fun with this book, but Keegan's whole attitude towards life was annoying. Yes i get it, it's not nice to be the sole real parent for a little girl and that your roommate is at most times an ass with a big mouth, but still.
Anyway, i can't wait for the next books and mostly for Macie's story with Dodger. I 'm sure their story will be crazy.
THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK
- Sarah is such a smart kid. - Bree: I didn't see that coming. I thought she was an ex. - I knew i didn't like Luke for a reason. - At some points the writing is abrupt and disjoint. - All of his family is great. - Her mother was awful.. - I liked the banter between Camden and Keegan. - Keegan is oversensitive. - The sex is good!!!mmmmmmmm!
You know when you are paging through your reader looking for you next book to read and you pick a book read a few lines and then just pick another one and another. Well that was me last night. And then I found this on my reader and for some reason I couldn't stop reading. It just kept my attention from the first page until I finished the book at about 12:30am this morning. This book is about Keegan who lives with her mother (who is a single parent) and her sister who is younger than her. Keegan has been like a parent to her little sister while her mother just goes and has a good time. So she decides to move out to let her mother take more responsibility and finds a room to rent with Camden. Who it seems is so not interested in her, but actually is attracted to her, so he does everything to stay away from her and treat her like she doesn't exist. Camden pushes her to the limits in more ways than one. But Keegan isn't one to be walked all over by any means. She is feisty and lets him know it.
This book made me laugh and was a light read for me. And the chemistry between Keegan and Camden is so HOT!!! Even though Keegan annoyed me a bit with her insecurities but I can totally understand her.
Trust me you will want to read this book. Even if it is just to drool over Camden. And BTW have I mentioned that he has 3 other brothers (YEAH) Hopefully all getting their own story
Let me start off by saying that this book is my new TOP READ of 2014 and Camden has slide his way up to #1 on my BBF list.
I was trusted with an ARC of this story for an honest review.
Keegan, aka Blue....she's dealt with a lot for a girl her age. Living with a single mom and her younger sister, she's forced to take on a ton of responsibilities. When she chooses to stand her ground and make a move, she's presented with something that turns her world upside down.
Camden, oh Camden. You are a whole lot of hotness wrapped into this story. He's hot, arrogant, stubborn....and then kind, loving, supportive and HOT AS HELL!!!! He's been on his own to do as he wished for far too long. He's never been the guy to settle down, he's too stuck in his own ways.
When these two meet up they couldn't be anymore opposite, but you know what they say....opposites attract.
I love this story, the banter, the WOW sex scenes and even the secondary characters. This author has pulled me in so far that there wasn't a moment I wanted to put the book down. I'm a true fan of Stacy Borel and would recommend this book to anyone.
I finished it this afternoon and I'm still HUNGOVER....I want more Camden :)
I loved this book. I was really in the mood for something like this. Camden oh dear Lord he was down right edible!!! He was a real ass in the beginning but I loved him anyway. Keegan got on my nerves sometimes but all in all I had to respect how she was with her sister and getting her life together. I am sooooo looking forward to the next one!!!
This book had just about every romance cliche that could be fit into the story. Had a lo of elements that I can't stand. The hero was such a jerk to her through most of the book. I just didn't feel their connection. I finished it, but it was a struggle. Not sure if I will move onto the next one.
When Keegan's mom yet again bales forcing her to watch her sister instead of going to a much needed study group Keegan has finally had enough. Finding a roommate is just what she needs, and walking into Camden's apartment she knows its to good to be true and then she meets him and he opens his mouth. If she didn't need her own place so badly Keegan would never deal with someone like Camden yes he may be gorgeous but he is also a mean pompous jerk. Deciding to live with Caden but ignore him things seem to be looking up.
The longer they are roommates Camden seems to be turning nice but he always seems to revert back to his cruel ways, and then Luke arrives and Camden starts to act very different and even warns her away from Luke. When Camden's warning comes true Keegan finds herself running to Camden over everyone else and the lines become blurred till Camden and Keegan find themselves together. But Keegan isn't sure they will last because of her own insecurities even though Camden shows her a whole different side to himself. And though Camden does she her another side it becomes obvious that Camden is also keeping something from her.
I really liked this book Camden is a jerk at the beginning but I loved reading those parts the most especially when we see the looks and comments and understand that Camden really feels something completely different than what Keegan thinks. I also loved their banter and how strong Keegan was. Camden is a great hero he is unbelievably possessive and bossy and all consuming and there is literally nothing not to love about him. I did get irritated with the constant issues that Keegan had with her body. I get it everyone has self doubt at times and everyone has things they want to change about their body but being a size ten does not make you disgusting and at times thats how her thoughts made it seem.
The side characters in this book are just as great as Keegan and Camden, all of Camden's brothers are great and I was so happy to see they will be getting their own books, I also fell in love with Keegan's sister and their relationship in this book. This was a great first book in this series and I will definitely be reading more. This was one of those books that I had to force myself to put the book down, especially when Camden and Keegan were arguing so much and then she would brush against him and he would groan or he would say something under his breathe about how beautiful she was. I just loved those moments in his book.
There is also some really funny parts that had me laughing out loud and my teen daughter shaking her head at me ** you know it's good if you embarrass your kid**. Stacy Borel did a great job with this book, she is an author that I am really excited to see not only this series but other books she writes in the future.
I didn't expect myself to write any reviews when I joined Goodreads, it was just a means to keep track of what I was reading; now it just makes me happy knowing I helped someone or made someone laugh from a review. :)
OKAY SO ON WITH THIS REVIEW
Everything about this book was PERFECT, the writing, the characters, the plot, the humor (there were some lines that were seriously funny LOL). ALL WAS PERFECT...until they got together, it wasn't bad, but kind of anticlimactic.
At about 72% it seemed like there really wasn't much to write about anymore so the author had to stir things up and by stir things up I mean the main characters became irrational and a little annoying. Camden became oblivious of his bad decisions and Keegan became a cry baby. Thankfully this part was only the last 28% of the book and I would still recommend this because the first 72% is still pretty good :)
This book was really good, I felt really sorry for Keegan, she grew up with a mom who preferred sleeping around and leaving her children home alone, than being there for her kids. She wasn't a bad woman, but Keegan starts the book fed up and looking for a new place to live. Which brings us to Camden.
He's freaking hot, and he is a total jerk and I love nothing more than hot jerks. He doesn't really treat her like he should and she doesn't really put up with it which I liked about her. She was able to put him in his place and sometimes she didn't which I liked too.
I loved his brother Dodger and her best friend Marcie, they were really strong supporting characters. Didn't really care for Luke, and of course that's okay because it's explained.
The scenes when these two give into one another are HOT. I mean really steamy in more ways than one.
I have to DNF this one. I was excited to read it but there are a few things or people that annoy me and then there is something the heroine did that just turned me off and I lost all my connection to the characters. I was excited to read about the Camden and Keegen. I love stories like this that the girl is looking for an apartment and ends up moving in with a guy who she thinks has shown "distaste" in her. However, it is all but the opposite.
#1 - I got tired of Keegan and her constant discussions about her "self esteem" and body image. It seems like she needed constant reassurance from her friends. #2 - In the end, Keegan does something that completely turned me off from the book. This story is just not for me. It is not bad, just there are certain things that characters did that turn me away from the story.
All the time: Keegan is so gorgeous, Camden is so hot, Dodger is so hot, Macie is so beautiful... Blah blah blah.
Keegan: she has a younger sister. She needs to study. So she finds herself a new apartment. But then she suddenly finds time for a party, for a boyfriend, for a gym... I can't understand her- she didn't have time for her sister, she needed to study more!
Sometimes is she so immature, so childish. And she is not confident about herself, she thinks she is fat. And she doesn't have money. But she has so many clothes! And she can dress very revealing. Those things are really on the opposite sides, I cannot understand her!
read this author I heard. this book is so great I heard. you will love this one I heard.
AND YOU KNOW WHAT... I DO! this book was awesome. I thought "I'll just read the first page and go to sleep"... well at 3am I finished the book. It was completely worth my ass dragging the next day!
I was put off by the h having sex with OM, without protection, then having unprotected sex with the H a couple days later. The H was parading bimbos through their house, so we know he sleeps around too... and yet NO ONE EVER mentions protection, safety, or birth control of any kind. She’s a NURSING student. She knows how bodies work. 👀 It would be different if this were one of those silly books where it’s their first day on earth and they’ve never seen another man/woman before, but these two were clearly sleeping around. It’s kinda gross to not even mention protection, even if they are going to choose to go without with each other. 🤷🏼♀️
Also, the misunderstanding was straight up idiotic. All it would take is one short afterthought of a conversation to solve it. I would have actually rather it had been more what the h assumed it was, then her psycho reaction would have been merited. 🤣
Anyway, I think this story had a lot of potential, but these 2 issues likely mean that I won’t seek out anything else by this author. 😬 This gets a very generous 2.5 stars... I was interested enough to finish. 🤷🏼♀️
