Savannah Stuart is the pseudonym of New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katie Reus. Under this name she writes slightly hotter romance than her mainstream books. Her stories still have a touch of intrigue, suspense, or the paranormal and the one thing she always includes is a happy ending. She lives in the South with her very own real life hero. In addition to writing (and reading of course!) she loves traveling with her husband.

I love that we get a vampire/wolf mating in book 4. The author is doing a good job of making each book different and not just the same story, different couple. In Saving His Mate, we get Rex, a vampire bounty hunter and Margery, one of the Crescent Moon wolf shifters.

Rex was instantly attracted to Margery but after hearing she had a bad experience with vampires when she was 16, he treaded lightly with her. A part of me wanted him to push her boundaries but it does go to show how protective the heroes are in this series. They are willing to tamp down their dominance if it's best for their females.

When vampires kidnap Margery because of Rex, instead of having this put more distance between the couple, Margery realizes how much safer she feels with Rex. That's what I like about this series. If there is any pushing away by one of the couples, it doesn't last long. Once again, another enjoyable read in the series.

This is a review for Saving His Mate, the fourth instalment of the Crescent Moon series and if you're a fan of the authors shifter stories then you are in for a surprise. Ms Stuart ( pseudonym for Katie Reus) has raised her game and the hero of this short tale is Rex a vampire !
Rex is a bounty hunter and tracks down rogue vampires . He's spent quite a lot of time recently in Grants territory and the alpha wolf surprises him with an offer to become part of his pack. Rex is flattered but whilst considering his options meets the woman of his dreams. Margery just has to walk into the room and Rex is beyond smitten as Margery is meant to be his mate! Slight problem though as Margery has good reason to fear vampires but the appealing Rex is always up for a challenge !
Rex sets out to woo the lovely shifter Margery but the job Rex has been doing is about to bite him where it hurts! Not everyone agrees with him helping to police the vampire world and suddenly he's vulnerable and that vulnerability has a name, it's Margery! Rex is not going to lose her especially when he's not even tasted her yet! Margery may be in danger but woe betide anyone who gets between Rex and his female because this boy bites back!
I love this authors shifter tales although I always wish they were longer. Rex,what can I say about that mean vampire ? He's been a loner for a long time but shows no hesitation in his pursuit of Margery and I absolutely loved the way he just powers in, rolls up his sleeves and gets stuck in! This is one guy who clearly won't take no for an answer and Margery is a very lucky lady! As for Margery her earlier life experiences of vampires could well poison any hopes of a happy ending with Rex but there's one thing for sure Margery is not a quitter . She's always been quite motherly to her pack members and is perceived as part of the backbone of the pack so she deserves a little excitement in her life. Unfortunately Margery gets a little more then she had bargained for but with Rex in the picture I don't think many sane women would complain.
This had a delicious fast pace and a great sense of immediacy to it. No waiting around for something to happen with this book! It would be all too easy for the heroine Margery to be whiney or pathetic because of her previous experience but she's a survivor. She's not the cocky tough sort though and I really liked her. Ms Stuart has a way of dragging the reader in and it's a fantastic world she writes about. These extremely likeable characters took me on a journey filled with action and romance. Loved the determined and protective Rex and really felt for Margery who had to overcome her instincts. This was great fun to read and I heartily recommend this authors work.
I thought about rating a four as I wanted a longer read but trust me Rex deserves a five so a five it is!

I loved Rex, "my name is Rex and I'm going with you." He gritted his teeth at her tone and her use of the word vampire instead of his name. "Is it all vampires or just me in particular you have a problem with?" He tries to act all gentlemanly, "as she pulled into one of the empty parking spots Rex cleared his throat nervously. "Would you like to go on a date one evening this week?" He doesn't like things about his woman injured, or upset, "the thought of her vulnerable, injured...eff. It sliced him up, the need to destroy whoever hurt her building up inside him with a surprising vengeance." When it comes to his woman the boy is just all animal, "...his mate's scent of pure lust was relentlessly teasing him. As she slowly continued undressing him, his patience snapped, as it so often did when it came to Margery. Grabbing her hips, he stood and headed for the bedroom." I can't wait to see whose up next in this series.

This far, I have always enjoyed reading the novellas of this author and here I wasn't disappointed because I knew what to expect. Saving his mate was really short for me to grow attached to the characters and that's why I rate it 3 stars. I liked it but there wasn't that thing that makes a book special, at least to me.

I've read lots of paranormal romance and here I was curious about the Relationship between Rex and Margery (a vampire and a werewolf). I wish some things were more developped (they didn't talk about him giving her his blood a second time) but I know in 144 pages, it must be difficult to have enough plot, romance and erotica.

A pleasant and quick read.

3.5 stars. ARC Review

This is a pleasant little ditty. I enjoy inter-species love stories and this is a cute one between a 250 year old vampire, Rex and senior shifter, Margery. Margery is the mother hen of the pack and the owner of the shifter-owned bakery. She has a past that makes her extremely wary of vampires. This is a classic story of both love at first sight and the reluctant girlfriend. With shifters and their mating reactions, this is not a contradiction. However, it is a hot number. It's great to revisit our favorite shifter pack and am glad to see this hot vampire join the team. Read in one sitting, I couldn't put this book down.

Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange of an honest review.

Margery the baking wolf and Rex the bounty hunter vampire.
Pretty straight forward mating tale. Rex is all in from the get go, but Margery has a bad history with vampires. I got a wee bit tired of Margery pushing him away, but the story is short and she gets past it. There's some rather moronic rogue vampire bad guys. But I ended up liking this one the best of the series. Still can't give it 4 stars though.
I liked that both MCs were over 200 so they were roughly contemporaries. I wish the author had played that up more, but she does have some fun with it.
Anyways, Nice quick listen while running errands.
The reader was fine.

Originally reviewed for Tea and Book.

Once again Katie Reus writing as Savannah Stuart tells an excellent tale about stepping outside of your comfort zone and finding love. We return to the Gulf shores of Alabama and the Crescent Moon Pack. Where cross supernatural relationships are accepted. After all the Alpha mated a human, his two seconds mated with Jaguars and now a position in the pack has been offered to a, wait for it....Vampire. Bob Dylan said it best, "The Times They Are a Changin".

Margery is one of the top nurtureres for the pack. She is a strong independent woman, a businesswoman and well respected by the pack. She has been a part of the Crescent Moon Pack since the previous alpha. So she has seen the changes and openly welcomes them. Of course watching strong alpha members of the Pack find their mates has made her yearn. She has no problem with casual sex but not within the pack, since few non pack members cross their borders these days, she has been on something of a dry spell. That must be the reason why her hormones went haywire when she met Rex Serano, Vampire. Because Margery doesn't do vampires, doesn't like vampires. An incident from her childhood has left such scars that she shudders at the mere mention of vampires.

Rex Serano enjoys being a vampire but he is a vampire with honor and expects others of his kind to be the same. He has spent much of his two hundred plus years, tracking down rogues and turning them in. Yep, he's a vampire bounty hunter. That of course puts him at odds with the rest of his people. A loner, yet even loners want something more. So when he is offered a place in the Crescent Moon Pack, he is honored. When Margery walks through the door he is more than honored he is captivated.

So we have a Vampire who may have met his mate and a wolf who fears giving in to her desires. A difficult path at best. Yet Rex is committed to courting Margery and soon... Of house nothing is ever that simple. Aside from having to let go of an age old fear, Margery and Rec have to deal with pack dynamics and repercussions from his job.

A thoroughly delightful addition to Ms. Stuart's Crescent Moon Series. It reads well as a stand alone BUT this pack is fun so make sure you check out the rest of the series.

Saving His Mate was a great read and I look forward to reading future books by this author. I was hooked from beginning to end. Grant is alpha wolf and Rex is a trusted and close vampire friend who has not settled in one place due to his job of bounty hunter, but things change once he lays eyes on Margery, a member of Grant’s pack. Rex is given the chance to settle in one place and being with Margery would make it absolutely easy. However Rex past come full force and Margery is in the crossfire. This is a short read that has suspense, mystery and romance with shifters and a sexy vampire making this an absolutely great read. If you enjoy paranormal reads I suggest pick this one up.

I was in need of some shifter love and as a bonus you get some vamp action too in this book.

Margery runs a bakery and isn't too keen on vamps, Rex is a bounty hunter and a vamp who is instantly attracted to Margery.

This is a novella so things move quickly in the romance department with some added suspense mixed in.

I have read other books in this series so that makes all the background characters and the world they live in more rounded to me, but even as a standalone you will enjoy this Pnr book.

3.75 vampy and racey stars.

I was gifted a copy of this book via netgalley for an honest opinion.

Rex is a vampire and a bounty hunter, who was invited to join Grant Kincaid's wolf pack, although he wasn't sure he was truly given the choice. Then he sees Margery and his focus becomes her as he recognizes her as his mate, but Margery is determined to reject him out of turn because of the four vampires that attacked her when she was still just a cub and nearly killed her. She becomes the target of revenge when complications arise one of Rexes hunts goes awry. His attention turns to protecting her and removing the threat.

This is the fourth book in the Crescent Moon Series, but easily be read as a stand alone. It is a short quick read, that can be read in one sitting. Well written and filled with suspense and danger. Strong characters that make you sit up and take notice. The story flows smoothly and keeps the reader involved.

My rating of "Saving His Mate - A Vampire-Werewolf Romance - Crescent Moon Series Book 4" is 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Another quick, easy and sexy read which is falls into the somewhat forgettable category - though of the books in the series, I'm more likely to remember this one because the hero is a vampire, rather than a wolf shifter. He does a lot of bounty hunting in the territory and is hanging around when he encounters Margery and he knows that she's his destined mate. Margery isn't so sure and has trust issues with vampires, but after he rescues her from a kidnapping, she allows herself to trust him.

So Margery's trust issues weren't that definitive - given what she'd been through, yeah, she should have them, but she's all over the place with the, having them one minute and losing them the next. But this story definitely had more momentum than the last one as there's a lot more adventure, conflict and suspense going on here. Not a lot of romantic angst, but there's some build up of tension. This was pretty good.

I think so far this is my favorite book out of the series. Rex is fighting an uphill battle when he scents his mate. Margery has been hurt at a very young age and is seriously lacking in the trust department. I loved how despite the hurdles he faced Rex fought to save Margery and became her port in the storm. Definitely a cute love story.

I almost DNFd this so many times but read it to stop myself doomscrolling so thats nice. It is exactly what it advertises to be, but just really not... for me... as much as I want to support the paranormal/supernatural erotica industry this just wasn't it. Such a soulless, cookie-cutter feel to it :(

REVIEW: SAVING HIS MATE is the fourth instalment in Savannah Stuart’s (aka Katie Reus) adult, contemporary Crescent Moon paranormal romance novella series. This is wolf shifter Margery and vampire bounty hunter Rex Serano’s storyline. Although this is the fourth in the series, SAVING HIS MATE can be read as a stand alone without too much difficulty.

While on the hunt for a rogue vampire, Rex crosses into the Kincaid Pack territory where he will meet wolf-shifter Margery. Rex knows immediately that Margery is his mate but convincing the reticent shifter is another matter. Margery has a history with the vampires and she wants nothing to do with Rex or his kind. When Rex is offered a position within the Pack he knows that his future with Margery is almost a guarantee.

The relationship between Rex and Margery is quick to develop as there is only so much room in a novella series to tell a story. From friends to lovers theirs is a relationship that is beckoned by the fates. There is an immediate attraction between our couple-one not readily accepted by all of the vampires or shifters-and in this Margery will become the pawn in a bigger game. Rex is a well respected and trustworthy vampire and, Margery is the Pack ‘mother’ who ensures everyone is looked after.

Savannah Stuart pulls the reader into a quick paced, romantic and sexy storyline. The secondary characters are colorful and bring a sense a familiarity to the story as the world building continues with the previous storyline characters and landscape.

If you are a fan of Katie Reus than Savannah Stuart’s Crescent Moon series is sure to please. There is a little bit of everything-romance, sex, suspense and a happily ever after.

Rex is a vampire bounty hunter who has approached Grant, the local werewolf alpha of the Kincaid wolf pack, to ask for Grant's permission to hunt a rogue vampire in Grant's territory.  Grant and Rex evidently go way back and are on friendly terms, so Grant gives Rex permission to hunt on his territory.  While Rex is in Grant's office, the beautiful werewolf Margery walks in and Rex is immediately smitten with her.  The problem is, Margery was attacked by a group of vampires when she was younger and was beaten to within an inch of her life. So whatever ideas Rex is entertaining about the beautiful Margery, he will have to entertain them alone, as Margery wants nothing to do with Rex.

Then, to Rex's surprise, Grant asks Rex to join his pack.  Grant's pack has several jaguar shifters in it, so why not add a vampire to the mix?  Yay for diversity!  Rex decides to mull over Grant's invitation for a little while, as joining Grant's pack would definitely give Rex easy access to Margery.  But does he want to be that close to Margery if he really doesn't stand a chance with her....?

Then Margery is kidnapped and all bets are off the table. Rex the bounty hunter is hot on her trail and determind to bring her back alive.

This was such an interesting idea for a story.  I love the Kincaid werewolf pack. There are a few jaguars  in the pack and Rex will soon join them.  It's an interesting mix and it really does work well.  The pack owns a condo building on the beach and each member of the pack has their own condo, complete with ocean view.  There is a real sense of camaraderie within the pack and the majority of them seem to accept Rex without question.  I enjoyed the overall vibe of the Kincaid pack.

My major complaint about this book is the lack of real action here. It's a good idea for a story, and the romance is there.....but the action is yawn inducing.  Margery is kidnapped, which is actually the most exciting part of this story.  And from that point on, all the "excitement" is just one convenient thing after another.....Margery manages to escape almost immediately from her shackles, one of her captors comes to an immediate and somewhat clean demise.....later followed by her other captor meeting a swift and clean end. There's no tension in this story, no real action.  The main thrill I get from reading vampire stories is the fighting. I love the action, I love the adventure. Sure, the romance is fun too, but I love the carnage associated with vampires and werewolves.  As much as I loved the idea for this story,  I was bored by the time I finished it.

Although the quality is here, just like for the previous volumes, I'm still disappointed! There is finally one of my favorites characters that I waited with haste to discover the big love: the vampire Rex. And yet, that could have been used as springboard to learn more about the vampires and finally we stay in the blur. It's really too bad that it could not be exploited at its right value. But that doesn't steal the fact that the couple which form Rex and Margery is touching and sexy as hell!

Rex is a basic male alpha: authoritative, dominating, sure of himself, sexy and ultra virile, he remains nevertheless nervous with his feelings for Margery. But once he have an idea in the head, the least which we can say, it's that he does not deviate, even for one second. He'll do everything to have what he wants. He remains a rather mysterious character, we does not know how he became a vampire, who he was as an human and why he is a bounty-hunter. Finally we knows only a few things about him.

Margery is a she-wolf which we already crossed. She holds a bakery which only open the night and whose is well known in the supernatural world. She is a beautiful woman, who does not leave indifferent the men and who however did not find her mate. She prefers to remain single than to have one night stands or short adventures without future. Her past was rather hard, everything in her seems to be the Rex's opposite, but she won't be able to be prevented from melting for him.

Strictly speaking, there is no intrigue other than the evolution of the couple that form Margery and Rex. Will they be happy together? Will they overcome the trauma of the beautiful wolf? Will Rex join the pack? Hunting the vampire was quickly proceed and the consequences which rise from the accidental death of Stanley are clear like water. That does not bring anything to the story. It's this side of the novel that is weak, we want a good intrigue other that the love story. It's really too bad!

Saving his Mate still as pleasant and ludic to read than the others books. The auteure is able to make us dream and her erotic scenes are for a lot in that. I would only wish that thereafter there would be more information on the differents races. And I also hope for certain characters like Sarah or Davis to have a chance, those supporting characters whom we knows well now, deserve to have their own story. To see for the continuation!

I don't normally like to read a book in the middle of a series. I have been eyeballing some books by Katie Reus for a while now, but haven't heard enough about her writing to commit me to them. When I saw this book on Netgalley, I thought it would be a great opportunity to read something to give me a taste of her writing style. I love shifter/vampire romances and the fact that the many female protagonist doesn't want to have anything to do with the male is an added bonus. I didn't realize that this was book 4 in the series until after I was done and went looking for the others to get some back story. I was actually surprised at how little spoilers there were for the other stories other than the fact that the couples got together, which this being a romance is kind of a 'duh'. I did get the other 3 books and read them and am completely hooked now.

This is the story of Rex Serano, vampire bounty-hunter and Margery, baker and pack maternal. We are introduced to Rex as he is sitting in Grant's office, the local pack Alpha, getting permission to hunt down a rogue vampire in Grant's territory. The young vampire had stolen some money from his master and fled. Rex has been tasked with retrieving him and the money. While sitting in the office, Margery arrives, dropping of the alpha's slightly inebriated mate off, after a girl's night out. When Margery gets ready to leave and take the other member of their trio back to the apartment complex compound, Rex states he will escort them back, shocking himself. Over Margery's objections, Grant agrees.

Rex has a history with Grant and while in the office, Grant advises Rex that he is welcome to join the pack and put down some roots. Rex hadn't been seriously considering this until he gets one good whiff of Margery and realizes that she smells like home. Finding his mate after over 200 years, is a bit of a shock to him. Margery wants nothing to do with Rex. When she was much younger, she had been attacked by some rogue vampires and has been very leary of all of them since.

Watching the dance between Rex and Margery was a sweet and thrilling ride. It would have worked as a stand alone, but I was interested in the other couples stories enough to read the other books in the series. You can read these books in any order or just pick one that interests you from the series. This was a 4 star read.

A very cute sexy romance…

This is the fourth novella in the Crescent Moon series that can be read as a stand-alone.

Rex is a drifter, a vampire and bounty hunter of his own kind, never settling down. He hasn’t fit in anywhere and his profession doesn’t help him with his own species. He is surprised when his friend Grant, the alpha of the Kincaid pack, asks him to join them. But it isn’t the desire for a home that has him interested in the offer but the sexy wolf shifter Margery, a woman who he finds himself drawn to in a way he never has been before and he dares to wonder if he has found his mate. He is truly smitten over her.

Margery is a wolf shifter who doesn’t like vampires. She is a strong caretaker of her pack but when she was young she was attacked and left for dead by a group of rogue vampires. Though she knows that you can’t blame the whole species for the faults of a few she doesn’t trust vampires and has never been interested in one. Until Rex that is. There is something about this vampire that her inner wolf craves and she doesn’t quite know how to deal with his persistence and his tenderness.

I just love Rex. He is the most honorable vampire that this reader has run across. He wants Margery and proceeds to court her, to show her that he is not like other vampires. His courting is the cutest thing that I have read in a while. But nothing is ever simple. Rex came to town on a hunt and things have turned dangerous with Margery caught in the middle. He’ll do anything to protect her.

This was a very cute sexy romance between an honorable vampire and a wolf shifter fighting her inner instincts. There is action and suspense in relation to the hunt that turned complicated. I loved how these two handled the situations they found themselves in and that they didn’t take each other for granted afterwards, two extremely likable characters.

Title: Saving His Mate

Series: Crescent Moon Series Book #4
Author: Savannah Stuart

Genre: Romance, Paranormal

Blurb: From the moment vampire bounty-hunter Rex Serano meets sexy shifter Margery, he’s smitten. When the alpha of the Kincaid pack asks him to join with them, he’s stunned by the offer, but the real draw is the beautiful, caring female who seems to want nothing to do with him.

They might be different species but the mating call is undeniable and too strong to ignore. Now they must find a way to reach common ground and trust their instincts if they’re going to fight for a future together.

Thoughts: This series ranks as one of my absolute favorites – I absolutely love Savannah Stuart (AKA Katie Reus). From the very first book in this series, Taming the Alpha, I have been captivated by the series. I love Stuart’s flare for pulling emotions from you as a reader and having you become completely invested in the characters and this world. The books are a little on the short side, however everything you need and want is compacted into these pages, and you feel satisfied at the content. In no way do you feel short changed! Not to mention that each book is a standalone. While you see the characters in other books, you don’t have that nagging feeling that your missing something which potentially might disrupt your enjoyment of the book. Believe me though, that you will be left wanting to read more from this series. Loved it and this series will always be a favorite of mine!
