In the second book, Centuria showed what the story probably is going to be about. Ancient prophecy, small child, big creatures and weird enigmatic god-like powers just sound cool. And combined it with the spectacular art, which is used for some pages/action shots it creates a unique blend of atmosphere, where the environment is another character. Honestly, the art in the action scenes and the designs of the monsters are spectacular. Double pages are done with care and gravitas and feel important, as they should. The creature design of one the main monster here is, dare I say perfect. Slowly we are looking around the other parts of the world and seeing the vast woods, some weird planes, but mostly another characters beside the boring villagers.

So far I have 2 main issues with this series. And I completely understand that they come from an old man complaining about a story for twelve-year-olds:

1) Everyone in the story feels so stupid and flat. They are living next to an uncharted forest, where many big monsters live, they do not know what lives there and when people get lost...they just stay there and act like nothing happened. There is one person who can fight, but actually cannot and does nothing. And the only cabable people are the cursed main protagonist and an old hunter dude. Bro, think about the worldbuilding a little bit. And if you have a giant human being in armour and she is twice the size of everyone and does not do cool shit, then... that's just waste.

2) The damn architecture just doesn't make sense. I understand that japanese authors love their European like fantasy settings but to build a proxy house like in The Sims just from timber, the whole village looks so stereotypical and boring it makes my eyes hurt. A little bit creativity would not be in vain. It is a fantasy series with 8 headed monsters, who gives a shit if the building is not realistic. But a houses, which are like a box with a roof are just plain boring and degrade any worldbuilding the author is trying to establish. I do not know if I am the only one who cares about this but it just frustrates me so much.

3) When a new character is introduced in weird fantasy clothing, why the heel does the servant has a maid costume. This just drives me insane.

Even with all of my points and complaints I like the story and I will continue because I am a small child sho sees big monsters and gets excited but man, with just a few editorial things, this series could have been much better. We'll see what the future brings!

I'm not a fan of the art; there are only a few panels that are really well done. The action during the fights isn't always very clear, which is a shame.

I wondered why the author decided to put so many eyes on the spider's abdomen, when it already has so many... It seems like an additional weakness to me; I don't really understand it.

On the other hand, the story and the plot are really interesting. I loved the scene where Julian says, "Life here is calm and pleasant; I wish this happiness could last forever." That's when I felt the trigger was about to happen!

And indeed, the prophetess identifies the baby as the threat. I expected it to be Julian; I wasn't far off. But I didn't understand why, amidst the tentacles and the water, she sees a goat? Did I miss something?

MMMMM THE PROPHECY. i love a good prophecy plot and i love the trope of "trying to prevent the prophecy is what leads to the prophecy coming to" and that is FOR SURE happening here. love the village. love the characters. and LOVE the art work omg

I sing the same praise and have the same problems with this volume as I did with the first one. Captivating story, minor problems with art. I don't care. It's really good. Hope Centuria goes on for a long long time
