Alien Beast's Captive: A Sci-fi Alien Romance

Rate this book
The murderous alien monster wants one thing in exchange for saving my me.

My servitude for their lives.

Rethnekellen, or “The Beast,” is impossible to predict. One minute he’s barking orders and almost killing a guy for nothing, and the next he’s gently treating my wounds and taking a knife for me.

I’m starting to think his nickname and reputation are both and lie, and then quickly becoming more than a servant—I’m the companion Rethnekellen doesn’t want to need.

And as he begins opening up to me, I realize this man has wounds far deeper than the stab wound he got when he went to steal medicine to restore my ruined tattoo.

And suddenly, all I want to do is heal them and make him feel okay the way no one has done in centuries.

Alien Beast’s Captive is an ultra slow-burn alien romance with a lot of family drama, elements of fantasy, and a heavy wounded male lead. It’s inspired by Beauty and the Beast but with more killing and sex, less talking furniture and singing.

Gleeful Goblin Review: This is definitely a grown up version of Beauty & The Beast with aliens and I'm into it. This is no Disney journey where The Beast melts and becomes lovable early on in the story either, he stays a right git for a hot minute! But the journey to not-such-a-git is definitely a fun one and filled with it's own little intrigues like why our MMC looks the way he does: “You know, you act all horrible and cold and mean, and then you’re nice to me. But you go back to being horrible and cold and mean just as fast.” I turn, and he has paused, watching me. “You’re either pretending to be nice because you have an agenda, or you’re pretending to be mean. And because of how defensive you get, it has to be the last one, right? Because clearly, you don’t hate me. You just act like I’m this nuisance to you sometimes.” “I’m a beast,” says Rethnekellen coldly. “I’m not pretending.” “So, your beast because you look like a beast?” “No. I am a beast because I would not look like this if I wasn’t.”

I really loved Izzie so much because of many things but most of all was how she related to art and tattoos. For her tattoos are stories and memories that are with you forever and I feel the exact same way about my own ink. Seeing her explain connection to someone as lonely as The Beast and using art as the medium to do so was a ton of fun to read. 5/5 Stars.

This book was such a great read. I have not read anything by this author nor did I read the first book in this series. That being said, I was able to follow the storyline and enjoy the book. The story and characters were well developed. I love anything with a Beauty and Beast theme and this one did not disappoint. I enjoyed the alien version of this book. The moment I started this book I was intrigued by the story line and all the characters. I enjoyed each personality especially Reth hot and cold nature. I loved the dual POV of each character. The twist in the end made it all that much better. I am so intrigued I am going back to read book one so I can get to know the pirate better. With the ending of this book, I really hope there is another book as I would like to see someone go down for her controlling ways. All in All, I highly recommend this book as it was a fun read and I can't wait to read more.

I enjoyed this book. Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite fairytales, and I love reading retellings and parodies. I liked both Izzie and Rethnekellen. His personality was a little different than i expected- in a good way. The way he was grousing at himself when he'd accidentally say an Earth phrase won me over right away and made me laugh.

'Oh, wow, I’m devolving. That’s a phrase I heard on Earth. I avoid common earth phrases, as I think they all sound extremely stupid.'

Though I also liked that he was witty enough to use an Earth phrase as a weapon (so to speak) as well. I liked the dynamic between the two of them and enjoyed seeing them grow closer and bond. A fun mix of sci-fi and fantasy. 4 stars.

Highly entertaining book about The Beast and his human assistant. Rethnekellen is paid to kill the family of Izzie but he takes her as his servant/assistant instead. As expected he falls in love with Izzie but their road to HEA is full of danger, humour, kidnapping and the wicked witch queen trying to kill everyone. Highly recommended reading.
