2038, Tokyo. Japan’s android idol, Reina, has disobeyed orders, becoming a “deviant” to protect the human girl, Suzune. The two set out on a journey to find the girl’s parents. There they find two androids with a close connection to them—Seiji and Takumi. With free will in hand, the androids launch their revolution.
I like how this volume tied everything up without having to drag everything out. I didn't expect every story to be connected in the way that it was, and I liked how they executed it without making it seem too unbelievable.
I still think that the manga suffers from not being in colour. I know it's a stylistic choice and is usually how mangas are printed but a big part of Detroit Become Human are the colours the androids' LEDs turn to. It gives the audience a small insight into what's going on in their heads. And not having that removes an important aspect, in my opinion.
I enjoyed it regardless! I wish there was more coming, but I think that's all there's going to be? Which is a shame because I would have loved to have seen more stories of deviant androids in Tokyo or even around the world.
Since it's Detroit: Become Human, I felt I had to rate it a 5 stars, but I think it honestly deserves a 4. Storyline wise I liked it but I felt it could have used a little more overall. I would have loved to see more Seiji. It still kept me very entertained and looking forward to reading it. Happy (almost) 7 year anniversary for the game!!
2.5 The story isn't anything extraordinary. But I like being back in the world of Detroit Become Human. Listening to the soundtrack also made the experience a bit better.
