Love Letters From Her Cowboy by Sasha Summers Texas Cowboys & K-9s series #7. Contemporary romance. Harlequin Special Edition. Can be read as a stand-alone but some family from previous books are secondary characters here. Emory Swanson moved to Granite Falls to cook for the B&B guests that her aunt owns. More than that she hopes to find the space to recover from the loss of her husband. A stray and injured dog she rescues may be the start of her healing. Douglas McCarrick helps to rescue the stray from under the bushes and can’t help falling for the beautiful woman with mournful eyes. When she cries in his arms, he knows he needs to tell her his feelings. But he’s just a silent cowboy and doesn’t have the ability to express himself in person. So he puts his feelings and thoughts into poetry and drops the letters in the mailbox at the B&B, then starts helping around the property. Emory and her aunt don’t know who is writing the inspirational messages but they have fun trying to guess.
Such a lovely romance. We know Dougal falls hard and he’s so adorable spending time with his brother’s critters (toddler triplets), and helping with repairs and problems at the B&B. That he can write award winning poetry and win the hearts of all the females isn’t a surprise. He certainly won my heart. Charming, heartwarming and just a little spice, makes this a beautiful and sigh worthy read.
“Spending time with the critters always made him feel better about life.”
3.5⭐ Sasha Summers wrote the sweetest romance ever.
Love Letters From Her Cowboy features Emory - a woman who after experiencing the loss of her husband and unborn child, moves to help her aunt with her Bed & Breakfast. Dougal is a local cowboy in the small town who has never been good with words but he has been good at good at writing poems. The two meet when Emory discovers a hurt abandoned dog. From there, Dougal is unable to keep himself away from Emory - bringing his dogs to play with hers and finding small tasks to assist her with, all while leaving sweet poems and love letters in the Bed & Breakfasts mailbox.
Emory's relationship with her aunt was heartwarming - I loved the conversations that they had and the way that her aunt just wanted Emory to be happy. The way that Dougal struggles with expressing himself was super relatable and just made him so loveable. I also loved reading him being an awesome uncle to his nieces and nephew. I read this book in one sitting because the characters were so likeable and I was rooting so hard for them.
I did wish that the book had more love letters in it. That part of the story kind of falls away once Dougal and Emory begin spending time together in person and it doesn't pick up again until he was ready to tell her that he had fallen for her and I just wish that we had gotten more letters or to actually read the letters instead of just getting Emory's commentary on the letters.
Sweet holiday romance with enough heat to warm your heart. Emory came to Granite Falls for a new start after her husband's death, cooking for the guests at her aunt's B&B. Weighed down with grief and guilt, an injured dog wiggles its way into her heart.
Dougal came along as Emory attempted to rescue the dog and helped her. He is immediately smitten with the beautiful woman with the sad eyes. However, Dougal is anything but a smooth-talking cowboy and is completely tongue-tied around her. The only thing he can do is put his feelings into letters and poetry and leave them anonymously in her mailbox.
I enjoyed watching Dougal and Emory's relationship develop. The sparks of attraction are there from the beginning, but Emory tries to ignore them. Mistakes of the past haunt her and make her unwilling to risk her heart again. I liked how Dougal spent time helping Emory and Ruth, allowing him to spend time with her. Many sweet scenes with Dougal and his triplet nieces and nephew (the "critters") show him in a wonderful light. But Emory is afraid to trust her feelings beyond giving in to their attraction. It takes patience on Dougal's part and some straightforward advice from Ruth to break through the fears holding her back. The ending was sweet, and I enjoyed seeing the changes in both characters.
A little bit of a mystery ran through the book, too. The black sheep son of the B&B's former owner returns to town, claiming he's dying and looking to make amends. But something about Lucas feels off to Emory, and Dougal remembers the past too well to trust him. There was a not-surprising twist at the end.
This story is about a woman named Emory Swanson. Her husband recently passed away. She meets a cowboy named Dougal McCarrick. He doesn’t believe in love at first sight. The moment he sets eyes on Emory and the injured dog she’s rescuing he is done for. He is captivated by the beautiful woman in Granite Falls with the mournful eyes.
He pours out his feelings for her in letters and poems. She is racked with guilt over her husband’s death. She is still paying penance for the past. Dougal may be the only one to melt the ice from her heart. She doesn’t know that he has been writing her letters and poems. She may be the one to capture his own elusive and forever love. This book was very emotional and sweet. This book wasn’t spicy 🌶️. I really liked this book.
What a delightful and heartwarming read! The story of Emory and Dougal begins when Emory discovers an injured dog in a bush and decides to care for him. Dougal, drawn to Emory’s kindness and gentle spirit, stays close as they navigate the recovery together. As their bond grows, they begin to appreciate one another in a new light, recognizing how their strengths and personalities beautifully complement each other.
This book is a quick, satisfying read that never feels rushed. Its sweet, tender storytelling makes it perfect for readers who enjoy cozy, heartfelt romances filled with genuine connection.
It was my first book by this author. It was written well with the main character going through the loss of her husband. She is skittish to let her heart open up to love again due to the pain. She tries to ignore the attraction with Dougal. It doesn't work and love always wins. Love me a good cowboy romance.
Do you love corny and terrible pick up lines? Do you like to get second hand embarrassment from two love interests who barely know each other? Look no further than Love Letters From Her “Cowboy.” From smut every 10 pages (starting at page 190) to full in description his book will have you gagging all the way.
A charming love story. Triplets and three dogs all add to the fun. I did skip over the intimate details. There is a bit of a mystery or at least an individual to loathe. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.
This story revolves around Emory Swanson, who moves to Granite Falls to cook at her aunt’s B&B and heal from the loss of her husband. Her journey toward recovery begins when she rescues an injured stray dog, with the help of Douglas (Dougal) McCarrick, a quiet cowboy smitten with her gentle spirit. Unable to express his feelings directly, Dougal begins writing heartfelt poetry and leaving it anonymously at the B&B, all while supporting Emory and her aunt with repairs and chores.
As Emory and Dougal grow closer, their connection blossoms into a tender romance, filled with warmth and quiet strength. The book delivers a cozy, heartwarming tale with charming characters, delightful moments, and a hint of spice, making it a beautiful and satisfying read for romance lovers.
Dougal is a big Labrador retriever type of man, loyal to a fault with patience to spare. Emory has been knocked down by a couple of tragedies, so she's not as confident as she used to be. Their friendship is quiet and sweet, until there's enough familiarity to feel safe. A simple mix-up about unaddressed but adoring letters sets the stage for these two to take their friendship to the next level.
There's a bit of outside drama with her family that's handled nicely, but it never overshadows the romance. I really enjoyed the secondary characters and the charming small town atmosphere. This is a delightful romance with a beautiful HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
