In general, I'd suggest this book because it's clear & a quick read/listen. There were definitely moments where the book got a bit repetitive. That being said, by the end I got the impression that the repetitivness might have been on purpose. An attempt to drive home & interconnect themes. I listened to this as an audiobook while multitasking (the irony of listening to a book with strong themes of mindfulness & being present while multitasking. ) So the reoccurring topics actually kinda worked for me.

Also, this book peaked my interest in some topics/strategies that I'd like to explore further for myself in more in-depth books that focus on those topics. I'd say this book is a good starting point for people exploring the topic of protecting your own peace & recovering from being a people pleaser. It's quick, it's easy, & it gets the cogs in your head turning.

This book has useful information with actionable steps and a variety of options for tracking ones progress.

I listened to the audiobook for this one. It's a relatively short read, taking less than a week (with a 45min drive to/from work), however, I do feel this book is better consumed physically as it is easier to take notes (or annotate) and it'd be significantly easier to go back and reference it should you start feeling stuck. The voice for the audiobook read clearly but failed to pause long enough to register that we were moving onto a different section/topic.

I listened to this in audiobook form on a long drive at the start of the new year and it made me feel so motivated and encouraged and confident in all the decision making I have to do in this coming year. A few parts sounded repetitive, I’m not sure if that’s because I was listening and not reading, but it still fit into the chapter appropriately. Giving this 5 stars. Even just the first 3 chapters were excellent and a great reminder how to be a better person.

This book is honestly just a terrible regurgitation of the highlights of every self-help book you’ve ever read.

Zero substance, all statements like:
“Keep calm to better your relationships with others.”
“Listen more thoughtfully.”
“Take time to think before you respond.”

No actual “hey, try this” other than the chapter on breathing which is all just stolen yoga breathwork with barely a glance of explanation as to why it works.
