This one was tough to rate. On one hand, I adored the detective, Harry, whom the book revolves around. I also found out there are two more books involving "Harry Handsome" (not my name for him..quoting the book) and I may read them. I say "may" because I am not a series person.

So this is a quick read and a police procedure oriented book which is not my favorite genre, usually. And it is not long at all. Here are my likes and dislikes. I am a bit torn on this one.

Harry Handsome..LOL..is a charmer. His wife is in a coma due to a drug overdose and Harry takes care of her, still hoping she will one day wake up.

The mystery involves four girls who are horribly murdered aboard a boat. Nobody knows who did it. Harry is considered the best at solving crimes but his boss doesn't want him to get near this one since Harry's work has been a bit shoddy since his wife became ill.

But Harry does not always do what he is told. And really does anyone named Harry? A rebel name if I ever heard one along with Joe!

Harry sets out to solve the case. There are many things to get through however and it gets messy.

So..adore Harry. LOVED it takes place in sultry Miami! As a Florida fan, the writer just nails the atmosphere. Miami is electric and you can feel it in the book.

And it's a gritty read. Wonderful cast of characters including street snitches, a sort of retired computer hacker, a horribly ashamed teacher, a missing teenager who vanished after alleging a rape allegation that the police did not take seriously. It is a fun read.

But there is no suspense. That was my dislike. It is such a quick read and there is no tension. We know who did it. No spoiler..we just know. And I'd have liked a bit of a guessing game. I really would have.

Then there is Harry and his wife. I should mention there's a romance or almost one as Harry battles his feelings toward his wife's best friend, Jean. (Also a wonderful name)!

Jean is into Harry and their will they or wont they plays out on the pages and although I adore Jean, the romance was a bit of a distraction.

Thing three I did not like..the crazy chases the good guys get into with the bad guys. It just drains all reality from these types of books. Couldn't, for once, NONE of the good guys be in peril? Because we all know they will be all right anyway. And reading these incredible story lines about how good guy punches bad guy and gets away and then..another bad person attacks good person and good person wins again..it is tedious. And it happens in so many of these types of books.

So in closing..a quick and fun mystery I liked moderately and a mystery that has awesome atmosphere. I may go on as I will admit I do want to see where Handsome Harry's love life winds up.

All the Good Girls is a first in a series novel for Detective Harry Hunter. It is a quick-paced, police procedural, mystery novel that tries to distract you with a complex love story but fails to do-so because the story is told in just under 200 pages. I enjoy Willow Rose novels. She is an engaging writer that unflinchingly tends to create horrifying scenarios with minimal prose. Her brevity of verbiage is admirable, but sometimes more needs to be said. Because Harry Hunter’s wife is in a coma, Harry is given much leeway by his boss to deal with his family situation. As a result of this leeway, Harry’s work responsibilities have been excessively diminished. He is no longer counted on to carry an extended caseload, so when he gets involved in the murder investigation of 4 high school girls despite explicit orders to the contrary, things do not go well for Harry. As I mentioned, the narrative lacks suspense due to the brevity of form, but I do like the lead characters. The story needed about 50 more pages to establish at least a red herring or three. For my blog, I would rate this 3 and a half Grey Geeks, but for Goodreads it would be a more middle-of-the-road 3 stars. Still good but could have been better with more pages.

It’s wonderful to be back with another Willow Rose mystery. I devour her books.

Harry is on the hunt…for drug dealers. He had been removed from the narcotics police squad because he was always beating them up and getting beaten in the process. His wife was a vegetable after a drug overdose, so that explains his motivation. He takes care of her with the help of his neighbor and his wife’s best friend, Jean. He is always in trouble at work, being late and disobeying orders.

After the fifth death of a group of students, he is assigned to protect a possible future victim. The more he learns about him, the less he cares about him. I love to hate villains, but there is so much more to the guy than I anticipated. He is arrogant, a bully…reveling in the torture he heaps on his victims. Is he a sociopath? A psychopath? Does it matter? Evil is evil.

But, is he the killer? We have plenty of suspects. I kept bouncing back and forth, trying to figure it out for myself, but Willow Rose doesn’t make it easy. Some seem too obvious, and knowing Willow, I am sure she is going to twist and turn me round and round until the end.

The turn Willow took with this mystery was a surprise, and I love book surprises. Secrets don’t stay secret. And they can be used against you. In this instance, it is taken to such an extreme no one is safe from his manipulation. How far would you go to keep a devastating, life destroying secret? How far would someone else go to use it against you?

All The Good Girls by Willow Rose is one wild rollercoaster ride. She has an ability to surprise me with the unexpected.

All The Good Girls, and the future Harry Hunter novels, are shorter stories, with a pace so fast it’s hard to keep up and the suspects so numerous I couldn’t put it together. Love it!

A seriously lousy book.

I loved Willow Rose and read everything from her as soon as it was available, this book was stupid. A cop that doesn't listen, doesn't care, breaks rules, impinges on other detectives cases, without remand and gets kudos...and there is no mention of this case he is investigating and why the officers assigned to it are never mentioned except to say it their case; but Mr. "Stuper cop" figures everything out - without access to the files!

Then there is the praying. Umm sure, God is great and god is good and god is taking care of you and your brain dead wife. Irritating, how morals seem to be tied to being Christian which is bull, since most criminals, mafia, serial killers and murderers are..you guessed it..religious!!

The at the end.. when someone wakes up from being brain dead because god id good. Bullshit. People do not recover from that type of brain injury, not after 10 months can you just sit up aftre being comatose.

Willow Rose. You lost a reader.!

This book is a good mystery that moves along at a fast pace. It is the first in a new series. The characters are likeable. The ending had a little twist. Time to move on to book 2!

I was so excited to read this book on all the thriller/mystery pages I'm on this is the book everyone is raving about and I can't help but ask why?

You have Harry a dectective with a bad attitude and an anger problem, You have the killer, You have the victims and a lot scared people.

I just think the plot was just a bit basic for me and maybe that's because it was condensed down into 129 pages the author wanting to make sure it was a fast paced crime mystery. But it just felt like we started mid way through a story regarding the detective. None of the victims appear that likeable and I just felt I knew more about Harry's personal struggles than the investigation he wasn't working but decides to work anyway.


I must say Harry is a likable lead and I might try the next book in the series and see if it was the writing style or just the investigation in this book that I didn't like. I just didn't get the omg moment that so many people have said about this book.

I honestly wouldn't recommend this book. But it is quick about 5hours to read at my pace so if you are a fast reader maybe 2. To me it's a forgettable read and I haven't been sucked into this crime series and let's be honest I get sucked into pretty much every crime series I read. Feel quite bad leaving this review because I hate them to be completely negative.
Obviously these are my views and I am the minority so if your curious please disregard this review, unless we share quite similar taste from my previous goodreads reviews then I would say trust me on this one. 😁

Rating 2 stars because I think if built upon this could be a great series as Harry is a likable lead.

Disappointing..... Spoiler Alert

I began this book with high expectations and excitement. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I found the writing tedious and lacking. At times the third and fourth sentence to say exactly what the first two conveyed was overkill. Next, I found the variation in POV depending on the chapter confusing. I have no law enforcement experience and I found the discrepancies on the that part of the book. I struggled with any mention of the care given to Harry's wife. As a seasoned nurse, the discrepancies stood out like a sore thumb. The attack on the patient and the kidnapping of the nurse, completely not possible. First the author described a intensive care unit then when Jean, the nurse yelled for help no one came or saw her taken? Nope doesn't work that way. ICU are closed units and staff monitor their patients. I believe it is best for an author if they do not have experience or choose not to spend time researching for clarity then it would serve the book better by giving less details or changing scene. On a positive note I enjoyed the characters and the premise of the story.

There is a bully in the high school-who has everyone including the teachers scared of him. When he is accused of raping a girl while others watched-he threatened them all to keep their mouths shut so he got off as innocent. Then girls from that high school were being found murdered---

Harry Hunter of the Miami PD’s homicide squad, where all this occurred, never really followed the rules. He was tasked with protecting the bully. To say the least he was not too happy about this! But he needed the job since his wife had been in a coma for 3 years. He had her at home where one of her friends helped take care of her and helped with his young daughter.

Even though he was not supposed to--he kept following the case trying to solve it--things kept happening--disturbing things.

This one has so many twists and turns it will have your head spinning--the ending will shock you as well!

I definitely am going to have to keep reading this series!!!!

All the Good Girls is almost promising for the story. But Harry Hunter's life is so cliche which is not a problem because if it's fun I'd dive in anyway. But I can not stand lousy details and really physically impossible action scenes. Lots of things don't make sense at all, so many holes that are impossible to ignore. I'm kind enough to give stars because at least I was able to finish the book even with lots of eyes rolling.

it's an okay book. like you could read it in one sitting and is good for if you're trying to complete the reading challenge.
you could also solve the case along, but there are some stuff that most people wouldn't know.
its a good mystery but you don't see some major plot twist

Oh my. I have several Willow Rose books on my Kindle because they were free or very cheap to buy and they had mostly 5 star ratings. Why oh why do reviewers give 5 stars to such poorly written books. The premise was fine and interesting but so many inconsistencies and downright errors. ICUs are tightly guarded and few people allowed in, yet in this book a killer got into the ICU and nearly killed a patient and abducted a nurse. The nurse was screaming for help but he got her out before any other person reached her or even realized she was abducted. Author needs to educate herself before writing her books. There were many other scenes that just weren’t believable. Many of the sentences were so poorly constructed that I cringed. For instance, here is one. “Some of them were showing surveillance cameras from some street somewhere in the world where it was way colder than here judging from what people walking past the camera, wore”. This should have been broken down into at least two good sentences. Some of you reading this will just think I’m over reacting but too many sentences were so poorly written. That’s why you have editors unless she does it all herself.

A teenage girl is found murdered, her body in a dumpster. Four more teenage girls are found murdered while on a boat. What ties all these deaths together? All of them attended the same high school were witnesses to another crime.

Detective Harry Hunter is on his boss' last nerve. Harry does things his way ... and they usually get good results. These days, he's dealing with a wife who has been in a coma for several years, a teenage daughter, and his irascible father. He's never where he's supposed to be and today is no different.

He's assigned to protect another student who may be a possible future victim. Aas usual, things pop up, the student is left to his own devices and someone else dies.

This killer is known by a lot of people ... his father is wealthy, a mover and a shaker...and everyone is afraid of what he can and will do ... even most of the homicide department.

Harry is on his own ....

The plot is what attracted me in the first place, but the story line fell somewhat flat. The book seems to center on his personal life, although he is an excellent detective .. when he shows up for work. There's lots of action, but most of it is just unbelievable. The ending was quite spectacular with the taking of someone close to Harry ... the conclusion was left as a cliff-hanger.

I enjoyed reading this book. Nothing complicated just a few twists. Would never have figured who did all the killing of All The Good Girls. Fun read.

Many of the murder mysteries I've been reading lately have strong characters, even if they are lacking somewhat in plot. It's not that All the Good Girls didn't, just that it was a little too short to actually start to care about the characters enough.

I guess I have this issue with a lot of novels under 200 pages. They seem like they have potential, but that they don't necessarily go as in-depth with their characters and plot as longer novels do. While Harry definitely has an interesting past in terms of his sister, what happened with Camille, and the things he cares about, none of this is explained. We are told what happened to people in his life, but there is no feeling that encompasses these experiences. The side characters are cardboard cutouts, and honestly the protagonist kind of is as well.

Then, of course, there's the whole body of the novel. Of course hierarchies of power exist within schools and in neighborhoods, but it seems unfathomable that one student would have as much power as he does over an entire area. Again, if William had more of a backstory, I think I could find this story more believable, but there is not enough reason for this to mean anything.

I'm still not sure I get the conclusion, either. It was a little confusing, and it still makes a lot less sense, especially looking at the fact that the people with the most power over most of the town are high school students.

Overall, there's just a lot of things about this novel that make it complicated to follow, and that I didn't enjoy. I will not be spending any money on the second installment, because I simply do not care about the characters enough.

Not a slow burn serial killer thriller as the title and similar books are supposed to be. It's fast paced and the author has focused more on the story than the characters. That doesn't mean there aren't any interesting characters. There are a bunch of them. Harry Hunter, the protagonist, is tasked with babysitting a school kid who's allegedly raped a fellow student who went missing after the kid was acquitted. Now all the witnesses who spoke in favour of the kid are being murdered one by one. The mystery was good, not easy to guess and that's the reason I loved it even when there was no depth in the characters. Will pick the next one soon.

I had really high hopes for this book but was very disappointed. The plot in general was very muddled; when I found out who the killer was, I literally said, “who?” Everything seemed rushed. I appreciated the huge amount of diversity amongst the characters but I felt like this book portrayed a lot of ignorance; from the small things like saying someone spoke “Filipino” rather than Tagalog to large things like portraying all rape victims as weak and if they’re not weak, there’s an issue.

Detective Harry Hunter has a special hatred for drug dealers. His wife was an addict when he met her and has been clean since. They have a beautiful (now 14-year-old) daughter and should be happy. But 3 years ago, she relapsed without any obvious reason or signs, and overdosed; However they saved her life, she’s been in a coma ever since.
His boss Major Fowler has enough of his violent outburst against drug offenders and takes off the drug squad and wants him to focus on a new case. 4 young girls have been viciously slaughtered on a boat that belonged to one of their parents. A 5th girl has been found murdered in a dumpster. All of them were witnesses to an alleged rape a year earlier but refused to acknowledge it happened. The raped girl herself went missing 8 months ago. Hunter is not supposed to look into the case; his boss wants him to act as bodyguard to the alleged rapist. He despises the boy immediately and that only becomes worse the more he gets to know him. Police suspect that the missing girl is their killer, but Hunter doesn’t buy it.

The eventual solution wasn’t far from what I assumed but of course, there was an unexpected twist. The story is too short for any real character development, but the actors have interesting personalities and there’s real drama brewing up for the next tales.
There was a bit too much religious talk and praying in these stories for my liking, but as Harry’s dad is a pastor I can understand it to an extent. It may be what American readers like, but it doesn’t add anything to the story.
This is only the first instalment of a trilogy that’s best read together as that what appears to be the background story becomes the main focus later on.

After reading the summary I was so excited to read this book, but it had no potential and I am honestly disappointed. I just think the plot was just a bit basic for me and it was a fast paced crime mystery (only a little over a hundred pages). None of the victims appear that likeable and I just felt I knew more about Harry's personal struggles than the investigation he was not working but decides to work on. I honestly would not recommend this book, but if you are interested in reading this book, it is only about one hundred pages, so it will be a quick read.

The story introduces Harry, who is a huge cop. He is on a vendetta against drug dealers because his wife is now living, unresponsive, due to an overdose. He has a daughter, a father, and a neighbor who have been helping him care for his wife at home. He is neglecting his duties as a police officer because of his late night activities and the care of his wife. When young girls are getting murdered, Harry doesn't get the case, but instead is put in charge of protecting a bad boy who had been accused of rape. The boy seems to have something on everyone and enjoys causing them pain. This is a fairly quick who-dun-it book with interesting characters. It ends on a cliff hanger so if you dislike those, this isn't for you. This book IS for people who enjoy well written suspense books. There is some violence in this book. I recommend it.

Murdered on a boat at sea, four girls were only the tip of the iceberg for a seasoned detective to start investigating. Can he put his personal issues on the back burner and start paying attention to his job before he loses it?

Harry Hunter, in this first book of a series, seems like a smart guy. While his background was not overly delved into, the reader can acknowledge that the man has been struggling for some time at home, and his career as a homicide detective doesn't help his mental health either. This story had enough twists and turns to keep the reader engaged, and the culprit was flushed out at the very end.

Was not happy with this book, at all. was bored since this book fell flat, I wanted to like it but couldn't it just seemed like this detective didn't listen and wanted to do what what they wanted.

I’m not sure how I heard about the author Willow Rose, but I am always looking for something new. This was okay. I don’t like stories about rape and boys/men getting away with it. It had some page turning moments, but some stuff was just too unbelievable. I’ll try one more in this series.

Short audiobook from Chirp. Girls are being randomly killed, or at least that is the start. But they are all from the same high school. Then it narrows down to they all witnessed a rape and didn’t speak up.
It left me hanging no idea who the killer was.
I don’t think this is a series just a stand alone. But it does introduce a detective named Harry.
