Rate this book
Willow Rose’s beloved detective, Harry Hunter is back in this thrilling second installment of the bestselling series.

When a mother and her child are pulled out of the harbor in their car, the case seems pretty straightforward for Miami PD and Detective Harry Hunter.

Everything points to a murder-suicide.

They were homeless, living in their car, and the mother decided to end it all for them both by driving into the water.

But the case is not what it looks like, Detective Harry Hunter soon realizes.

Harry’s daughter is carrying devastating knowledge about their deaths, and soon she becomes the killer’s next target.

As Harry races to protect her, he is betrayed by someone he thought he knew, leaving him terrified of trusting anyone in a town filled with liars.

RUN GIRL RUN is the second book in the Harry Hunter Mystery Series.

Run Girl Run is the second novel of the Detective Harry Hunter mystery series. With the second installment, there are deeper characterizations of Harry and his supporting cast/family. Here the deaths of a homeless mother and daughter appear to be the result of a murder/suicide, but Harry is brought in to investigate, and must face some very real ethical questions as a consequence of being the father of a daughter needing an organ transplant. The narrative (as in most Willow Rose stories) is svelte and lean with a rapid pace. Where other writers try to emphasize and amplify the police-procedural mystery part, Rose prefers to augment the true-to-life dramatic elements that complicate our abilities to function at work while undergoing the traumatic stresses of day-to-day adult life. I believe that this is what makes the Harry Hunter stories unique and tinges Willow Rose novels with the flavor of realism. This novel gets 4 Grey Geeks or 4 stars on Goodreads.

This is the 2nd book in the Harry Hunter series. The main thread of the book is a continuing story from the 1st book. Although it could be read as a standalone I suggest that you read them in order.

I enjoyed this book. It moves along very fast. No chance of getting bored!! The characters are becoming more three dimensional as you get to know them. Moving on to the third book now!

Thanks to the author for a digital ARC of this book.

Emilia, 11 years old, lives in her car with her mother and loves the schooldays but hates the long weekends when she has nothing to do. The nights are the worst, she wakes up every hour and has nightmares about a man with stell-grey-eyes. One night she wakes up when the car is pushed into the dock where they were parked, the last thing she sees is the man from her nightmares.
Harry Hunter, a successful police detective has a tough home life. His wife just woke up from a 3-year-long coma after a drug overdose but she's nothing like her old self, she only says her daughter's name and has no control over her body. Even with intensive revalidation, she'll never recover completely. But bad luck strikes again when 14-year-old daughter Josie suffers a cardiac arrest and needs an urgent heart transplant. Emilia, who's been declared brain dead, is a fitting donor. Despite being busy with the 'four seasons' case, Harry tracks down Emilia's father and secures his consent for her being an organ donor.
Once recovered from the transplant, Josie starts showing differences in food favourites and dislikes, but she also has nightmares with peculiar details about Emilia's death and that the car was pushed by this man instead of it being a suicide/murder by the mother. This without her having any knowledge about the identity or manner of death of her donor. But it also meant that, if what Josie was dreaming actually happened, then somewhere out there was a murderer who had killed Emilia and Jennifer García, and who was getting away with it. ...

The theory behind this phenomenon is that memory is accessible or processed through the cells, and since the heart possesses cells similar to the brain, and it has been proven that the heart sends information to the brain, it may be possible that information about memories and traits may be transferred to the recipient’s brain. So that heart transplant recipients can receive information through the donor’s heart after it has become part of their body? That's the theory.
This is a short, fast-paced read that keeps the tension up until the end. I buy the transplant-memory, as there's plenty of cases confirming this possibility (not that it happens all the time) but there are a bit too many coincidences for my liking to keep the story credible. If you overlook those, it's a good book. However this story is concluded in this book, it does end in a cliffhanger
One thing to remark on this book is that the detective doesn't seem to have much work to do. He has this '4 seasons case' but without any new leads, there's not much movement there. But wouldn't he be assigned to other cases I ask myself, here it looks that his boss doesn't have an idea what his detectives do and his department can't be overly busy for his detectives to do whatever takes their fancy.
I received a free ARC from the author and this is my honest review.

Emilia and her mother are homeless, living in their car. She is awoken one night and the unthinkable happened. This took place in the first three chapters and it read like a prologue. I love prologues, because they hook me from the beginning and i eagerly read on to find out what lead up to the event and what happens after.

I am back with some familiar characters, so when Josie was rushed to the hospital, I thought, what could happen to them now. It seems bad luck dogs Harry and his daughter, Josie.

Because Run Girl Run by Willow Rose is Book II in the Harry Hunter series, I don’t want to spoil anything for those who start at the beginning, with Book I, All The Good Girls. I will skip over Camille, his comatose wife, and Jean, his wife’s best friend and love interest, and let you find out about them for yourself.

The situation presents some real life questions. Do you believe in miracles? When is enough enough and you move on with your life? How do you get past the guilt of giving up on someone you love?

Because of her ‘illness’, Josie leaves the hospital with more than she had when she entered. It puts her in great danger. And this poses some real life question too.

With Willow Rose, I am always waiting for that other shoe to drop. Her mysteries are complicated. She makes me wonder how all the characters will come together and what the outcome will be. She takes her characters to the extreme and back again and I am just along for the ride.

Uh oh, I’m thinking something bad about someone close to Harry. Could it be….Nope. How about…hmm…Alright, I was wrong again, sort of…I love how Willow Rose leads me down false paths, constantly questioning myself as I struggle to expose the bad guy. And we do have plenty of bad guys.

As Harry investigates, danger comes knocking. Of course, he makes it out alive, seeing there will be one more book, and I heave a sigh of relief, for now. The danger isn’t over yet!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of Run Girl Run by Willow Rose.

What I Loved:
I loved this book! Run Girl Run had such an interesting twist to the story! It felt like a mystery with some paranormal aspects added, and it made the story excellent!

How I Felt:
The Characters: Harry Hunter is back again! He continues to be such a great main character for this series! His devotion to his job, and his family, makes him so lovable. I like that his character seems to skirt the edges of the right and wrong line. He’s willing to do what needs to be done to get the job done. I also liked the additional storylines around his wife and his daughter in this book. It helped to fill out Harry as a person, and his daughter’s story was so interesting!

The story in book 2 of the Harry Hunter Mystery Series starts with the deaths of a homeless mother and daughter. Harry is assigned the case and soon realizes that while others think this is a suicide, the facts are pointing to murder. Harry’s personal life and family soon become involved in this case in a way he never expected, and now the killer is after his daughter.

The plot was such a page-turning, thrilling ride. I loved all the twists and turns that Willow Rose added to the story. It’s a wonderful second book to the series, and I will, for sure, be picking up book 3!

Overall: Run Girl Run is a fast-paced mystery and thriller that you’ll want to devour in one sitting! The character building and the strong story made it a wonderful read!

To Read or Not To Read:
I would recommend Run Girl Run for readers that enjoy a murder-mystery with a thriller feel. While this is the second book in the series, I feel that this can be read as a stand-alone if you haven’t read the first one! I would, however, recommend the first book, All the Good Girls too because it was good!

I was provided an advanced reader's copy of this book for free. I am leaving my review voluntarily.

My review of this book will post to my blog on 3/14/20. All of my reviews can be found at https://shejustlovesbooks.com/

I am stunned to see all the four and five star reviews. This author writes at a very basic level. There is no depth to the characters; very predictable and sometimes just silly. Nothing good to say about this book.

Book Title: Run Girl Run
Series: Harry Hunter Mystery Book #2
Author: Willow Rose
Narrator: Christopher Romance
Publisher: Buoy Media LLC
Genre: Mystery/Thriller
Pub Date was: February 15, 2020
My Rating: 3.6 rounded up
Pages: 194

I have only read a few Willow Rose stories and did enjoy them. I especially liked Don’t Lei to Me. I downloaded this story but didn’t know anything about it but I knew I liked the author.

Story kept me interested as well as curious. Detective Harry Hunter is with the Miami PD. This story features his fourteen year old daughter received a much needed heart transplant. I read another story where there was a transplant and the recipient took on some of the memories or actions of the donor. .
I remember being shocked by the acts of violence in the other stories I read, yet! I was still shocked by how horrible nasty people can be by capitalizing on other’s desire for a better life and have no concern for their well-being.
I do enjoy a thriller with twists and turns and a surprise ending.
However
This story ends in a bit of a cliff hanger/tease for next in this series
So yes! I now need to read No Other Way Book #3 in this series.

OMG!

This is the second book of the Harry Hunter series, each book can be read alone, but I highly recommend reading each book!

Harry is devistated when he finds out his daughter is going through heart failure and needs another heart. He's reeling and wondering why God keeps doing this to him and his family, when miraculously a girl a little younger than his daughter Josie has been in the same hospital as Josie was brought in three weeks earlier and has been brain dead ever since.
The mother and the girl were found in their submerged car. The mother who had taken her prescription sleeping pills was found dead, but the girl was still alive. The cops said it was a murder suicide case case. Now it's up to Harry to find the girls next of kin and hopefully get them to sign the papers so Josie can get the heart that she drastically needs.
Harry finds the father, and at first he will not allow his daughter to be removed from life support. It's only after the father leaves and Josie goes into cardiac arrest again that Jean finds the signed paperwork.
Josie gets the heart that she needs and jas to take medicine for the rest of her life so her body won't reject the precious gift.
When Josie is released and goes home, she starts having dreams about the girl who died. She starts drawing the man from her dreams who is trying to kill the girl. Also things she hated before she suddenly loves, which baffles Harry.
Will everything work out for Josie? Will it dawn on Harry that the mother and they girl were murdered? Read this book, I promise you you will love it!

A young girl and her mother have been living in their car only driving it when necessary like to school and when the mother is out looking for a job. They park in different places so that the cops hopefully won’t make them move or find out that they are homeless. The girl likes the days when she has to attend school to keep her mind off of their living situation and it keeps her from worrying about her mother. She hates the long weekends as she has nothing to do but sit in a hot car all day.

The young girl has nightmares about a scary looking man starring at her. One night the mother and daughter park their car at the harbor. The little girl is usually awake every hour making sure they are safe and no one is lurking around she is afraid for herself and her mother. On this particular night the girl wakes up to find their car in the water. She sees the man from her dreams on the dock and realizes that he pushed them in. She tries to wake her mother without any success.

Later they are pulled from the water and taken to the hospital. The mother is dead on the scene. The little girl was not breathing but her heart was still beating. Not she lays in a hospital bed on life support with no hope of ever recovering.

Detective Harry Hunter’s daughter Josie collapses and is rushed to the hospital after going into cardiac arrest and is now in need of a heart or she will die. Of course this news upsets Harry tremendously and wondering why all these bad things are happening to his family. His wife is laying at home just recently awoken from a coma due to an over dose on drugs not able to speak or communicate.

Harry’s next door neighbor and friend is a nurse at the hospital. Jean is working when they find out that Josie needs a heart so she tells Harry about the little girl on life support. Her brain is dead but not her heart. The little girl is a match for Josie. The only problem is they need the next of kin’s consent to take her off life support and donate her heart.

Harry being a detective sets out to find the little girls next of kin to hopefully obtain their consent. After the next of kin is found, Josie receives the heart she needs to live and starts to recover at home. Things have changed for Josie things that she use to hate she now likes. Josie starts to have dreams about the little girl whose heart she received like the day she and her mother’s car was pushed into the water and about a lot of other things that now puts her life in danger as well.

Run Girl Run is a fast paced read that will have you racing around trying to figure out how all the character’s stories all come together in the end. It is filled with twists and turns from beginning to end. The suspense alone will keep you hooked and the pages flipping.

The characters are all so wonderful that they make you feel a connection with them. As I was reading Run Girl Run I could see it all playing out in my head like a movie or as if I was right there with Harry and Josie as they discovered what really happened on that awful eventful night that mother and daughter drowned.

I would like to recommend Run Girl Run to all fans of mystery, suspense and thriller. Although Run Girl Run can be read as a standalone I would suggest that you read the first book All the Good Girls so that you can get the whole picture and to learn more about Detective Harry Hunter and his wife.

Harry Hunter is questioning a fellow detectives conclusion of a murder/suicide in a case that has been closed. When his daughter starts dreaming about the girl involved in the case, then leads him to a murder victim, he starts his own investigation into the deaths of the mother and her daughter. Unfortunately, Harry's investigation will make his daughter a target, and he will have to race against time to save her from a killer. He also realizes that he no longer knows who he can trust in the town or at work.

Wow! I just love these characters, especially Harry. Harry is a good, honest man who adores his daughter, takes care of his invalid wife, loves his father, and cares deeply for his neighbor. This is an exciting, action packed read with lots of suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat. Absolutely fantastic book, I loved it!

I am voluntarily leaving an honest and non-incentivized review of this ARC.

The book starts with a homeless mother and her young daughter living in their car. They are parked by the dock for the night when suddenly the car is pushed into the water. Before the police can rescue them the mother is dead and the daughter is alive but brain dead. The police believe that life just got too hard for the mother and she decided to kill them both. So the case is closed.
Harry's daughter Josie collapses with heart failure. She needs a heart transplant or she dies. After Josie gets her new heart, she starts having strange dreams, she can draw, and she likes foods she never liked before. Harry doesn't understand what is going on until he finds out that Josie is living the heart donor's life. He decides to reopen the case, which causes some of his fellow officers to be very angry with him, and puts Josie's life in danger.
Harry is a very strong character. He is an honest police officer and a loving family man. Can hardly wait to read book 3.

A Good Short Story

Run Girl Run is a good title for this novel because that's what a lot of them had to do, run for their life. Harry Hunter might be the detective but I think his nurse neighbor has him beat. Maybe she should be the police detective. A lot of questions are left unanswered. Was Harry's wife Camille involved in the human trafficking? Is Harry's boss Fowler the head of the organization? Are other police officers involved? Who can Harry trust? Read the Harry Hunter Mystery Series for answers.

The entire book is based on an extraordinary theory which borders supernatural or sci-fi. Which is why it becomes very difficult to see it as a crime thriller. Though the author accepts this in the afterword. Detective Harry Hunter's daughter gets a heart transplant and starts having nightmares that leads Harry to the murder of the owner of the heart. The book is then about how Harry solves the mystery of the girl and her mother's murder. The book is short and fast and wouldn't bore you. Will pick the next one in the series soon.

This is book two in the Harry Hunter Series but honestly you can probably read this as a standalone if you wanted too...but I don’t suggest that.

This book goes pretty fast paced and there is a lot going on in this read. I really enjoyed this book.

There is a lot of action in this book. You have murders, a heart transplant, and a hero!

Again, it blows my mind! How this author even came up with this plot blows me away. The writing yet again is brilliant!

I felt like I was reading a script for a new television series...that is how good this book/series is to me.

Another page turning thriller from Willow Rose. A mother and daughter living in their car are found in the water. The mother is dead and the girl, Emilia, is on life support, but is brain dead. Harry Hunter's daughter needs a new heart and ends up getting Emilia's. Josie has dreams about a murder after receiving the heart. Some murders that are related. This is another book I could not put down. I read it in one sitting.

This is book two of the Harry Hunter Mystery series and it was absolutely amazing! A mother and daughter are found dead in the water, it looks like a double homicide, but everything isn't as it seems. Harry's investigation makes his daughter a target and he must protect her. He is betrayed and doesn't know who he can trust. This is a action packed, thrilling, page turning read, that caught my attention from the first page until the last. An excellent read and I loved every single page of it.

Heart-stopping suspense!

Willow Rose is a master at creating suspense. The story grabbed me from the very first page and I couldn’t put it down. This is the first book of the series that I have read and now I want to read the previous one. Detective Harry Hunter is already dealing with his wife’s vegetative state and now he may lose his daughter. Only the death of an innocent girl can save her. What a series!

In this fast-paced mystery, Harry Hunter is forced to find the father of a drowning victim so his own daughter can live. In the meantime, he gets wrapped up with a trafficking gang and is led to believe that it has something to do with his wife.

This is a pretty good continuation of the first book in the series in regard to characters. There is no further development in regard to setting. The plot was decent enough to keep the reader interested.

The second installment of the new series by Willow Rose about Detective Harry Hunter is just as thrilling as the first book. His personal life is in chaos, his daughter is in the hospital and his new case has him doubting the findings and fellow officers. A fast paced plot that comes to a thrilling conclusion. I look forward to reading what happens next to Harry in this series.

I enjoyed Run Girl Run the second book in the Harry Hunter series by Willow Rose. I love how in each book the interwines with the last so you really get to know the characters closest to Harry.
My only complaint is how short these novels are. Just when you want to know exactly what is going on the book ends and we have to wait a whole month for the next instalment.

Exciting

This is a good series, so far. Although it is early in the series, I am anxiously awaiting to see the twists and turns that are waiting. In this second book, there has already been a huge shock! Everything becomes very personal for hairy. The third book has just been released, I look forward to reading it.

The second is the series...answers some questions, has more mystery & Harry still has his hands full. Need to read part one, as that is a cliffhanger as far as the underlying stories go. It is NOT a standalone. I highly recommend this series to any Willow fan, or anyone wanting to read her stories.
