Danice Allen is a modern day Jane Austen. She's got the revered renaissance chick-lit author's style with just the right amount of rogue and daring added, making it more enjoyable to read about that very prim and proper period in history.
It couldn't be helped to be noticed though, that the author's modern notions on relationships very much influenced her writing. The behavior of Amanda, the lead female character, may be too forward for the period setting, but then as I mentioned, it added a fresh air of difference to the story.
The story is not quite finished yet, as far as Sam is concerned. She was at the beginning, center, and ending of the tale, but her fate have yet to be determined. There is a sequel to the book, and I've already purchased it even before I started this review.
