I believe I bought this book when my husband and I were up at Jamestown, but I just got around to reading it. It was bought with the idea of having a memento of our visit, and I didn't want the regular ol' guidebook since I am extremely familiar with the area (After all, I live in Newport News, very close to it.).
Well, the book paid for itself (now that I finally got around to it). First, it is a signed copy. Second, it is a cute time travel story which has a good lesson for younger school children to learn. I am a super fan of "time travel" books, also.
The book was highly descriptive and held my attention throughout the whole book. It's descriptive writing was a perk, and it never lagged, which contributed to keeping my attention at all times, despite a number of small mistakes in the editing. It wasn't enough to make me stop reading, though, and I don't think it will be for you, either.
Even if you are not a person who reading children/young adult books, I would recommend you read the book. It passes along some interesting facts along with having a good story AND theme. At least buy it for a child you know. He should enjoy it! (Maybe even a young girl would, too, even though it seems to be geared towards young boys.)
