A canceled flight.
A beautiful stranger who seems to delight in getting under her skin.
A hotel with only one room.

Everything that could go wrong during Macy’s escape to Florida does. But when Grayson—the frustrating stranger in question—offers to share the room he already has, she has no choice but to take him up on it—platonically, of course. One night with him is more than enough.

When they head off to their respective destinations and discover they are neighbors, Macy quickly realizes he’s a maddening itch she can’t quite scratch. But she must face the truth of her past and decide if she’s ready to move forward or let it control her destiny.

Will they survive when Grayson reveals a part of himself he thought he’d left behind for good?

Amber has done it again!

This book just felt purely magical from page one. Her way with words has grown tenfold since her first publication and I couldn’t put this one down! I finished it in less than 24 hours, devouring every page. While I can’t completely say this is an “enemies to lovers” as it’s much more of a “she is delusional and he is obsessed”, I still give this book 5 stars. Grayson and Macy’s story is a multifaceted one that goes through many different levels of self discovery through grief, growth, and childlike hope. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I called it when the 4 of them were at the bar! The twist near the end was perfectly done and the love and care displayed by both of them for each other was so beautiful and touching. This book deserves all the love!!!!

⚠️Spoilers Ahead⚠️
💭= My thoughts

💭The best thing about going to a book blind is not having any expectations. And I have no idea what kind of journey Macy will take me on. BUT I AM STRAPPED IN! ✈️ 👏🏼

💭 Nothing makes me smile more, when people make meaningful gestures without even realizing it. The perfect example is ehen Grayson added three of Macy's romance books to his cart. After hearing shes an author. 🛍 📚 📱 🛒

HOTEL SCENE:
“Macy?” Grayson calls into the dark. Her soft voice does strange things to his chest. “Yeah?” she speaks before she loses the nerve. “You’re too good for him.” Silence stretches. “I know,” she whispers so quietly, he might’ve imagined it. 🥰

Ahh Macy's passion for writing is absolutely amazing but it absolutely breaks my heart that her close loved ones and relatives couldn't give a sh!t! 💔

💭I couldn't related to Macy's dedication mE.《To those who prefer a fictional man to a real one. 》👌🏼

°•○“Search for shooting stars with me, Mace.” The nickname rolls off his tongue as though he’s said it a million times, yet I’ve never been called anything other than Macy before.○•°

💭Sidenote: l love ad children there are games played worldwide but they have different names, they call it 'Manhunt' in the books. In South Africa we called it 'Sardines'. 🗺🙈👀🕵🏼‍♀️

*We knew that Macy's grandparents passed away, but hearing that her grandfather was killed in a car accident and her grandmother had a heart attack when she heard the news. It's giving literal broken heart. 💔😭

💭Absolutely love this.
°•○“We don’t break, but bits and pieces of ourselves cave in. Our souls crack. Some more than others, but we’re all marked with the fractures of this world.” His eyebrows are pulling together in concentration of my words. “And I think—” My heart cracks and I will away tears that threaten to fill my eyes. “I think the biggest challenge is learning to smile with holes in our souls.”○•°

💭The I love you Grayson note. 🤔👀🧐
A neice or nephew perhaps? 🤷🏼‍♀️

♡The other note from Grayson. 📝 "Don’t touch. Glue is still drying.” 🥰

💭Okay Grayson. - "I think with you it’d be better than the movies.” 🥵🔥

💭Who hurt Grayson. For him to ask Macy to promise him not to forget him like that... ahh my heart. What happend? 🤔😥

°•○I steal a glance from Grayson. His body isn’t tense, and his face is relaxed. It dissolves some of my anxiety. He makes me feel safe.○•°
💭⬆️That's the perfect definition of a partner.👌🏼

💭Yoh, did I see red when Walter mentioned Macy is clearly on her period. Nothing annoys me more when men... or should I say boys try to use hormones as an excuse. Wow my blood is boiling. 🤬🚩❌️ GET WALTER THE F OUT OF HER LIFE!

°•○“I’m tapping out,” Macy says. “I can’t play nonchalant any longer or pretend to dislike you.” Eyes on the sunset wall, she whispers, “You win.” In his silence, fear is raging like an angry sea. But she remains still, despite everything happening within. She feels him behind her, like standing too close to a furnace. Closer and closer the heat gets, until her wrist is encompassed by his hand, and it feels like flames licking up her arm. His breath is against the shell of her ear. “I lost the moment my eyes set on you, Mace. I’ve been at your mercy for what feels like my entire life. - Grayson”○•° 🥰😍

💭Wait, what!? Daniel is Grayson... ahh why did he lie. Man this changes things my personal walls are going back up after that. 🧱 🙄🚩

GRAYSON'S POV ~“That happy boy you knew, the one you told Sarah you loved? He’s gone, Macy. He died the day his family did!”
MINE: 😭😭😭😭😭😭

“Have you heard of heaven, Daniel?” the police officer asks.
ME: More tears 😭😭😭😭😭

💭Okay I'm gonna give Daniel or should I say Grayson some Grace. Should have have just said hey its Daniel but I go bu Grayson now yes, but he clearly still needs to work through some things. Grief is dealt with in many different ways and I need to acknowledge that. I don't like the fact that lied. But understanding and communication are key when building a solid relationship. They couldn't have begun if he didn't admit who he really was, and the perfect opportunity was perfect when she was speaking to Sarah and Tammy about it.

GRAYSON'S POV: I never told anyone what happened to my family. I can’t say the words. I never will. Everything was so different from last summer, so much so I decided staying away from the only person I had left was easier than voicing the truth.

💭Not to sure how I feel seeing as it's years later, but I've personally never gone through losing both my parents, my twin and my uncle nit being affectionate and having no friends at school. He became lonely. Maybe even afraid to let anyone close because that way there was no way he would ever be able to lose them. 💔

💭Ahh the meaning behind the note. 📝 💔😭
Also such a sibling thing to do as well.

💭Her happily made his grief smaller.😥😭

♡°•○"I dont even know what this is... "It's destiny." she finishes. “You make it better,” he says into the next kiss. “You make me feel like I’m alive.”○•°♡

♡《“I am yours, and you are mine.”》♡
~ 🏖+💸 IYKYK

💭His grandmother found out who he Grayson really was and he was the one that held her hand until she passed and phoned Macy because he felt he shouldn't have to hear that terrible news from a stranger. 😥😭😍🤗

💭Ahh and thats where the book title comes in. ⬇️😭😍😭😍😭😍😥
“I’ll have 'her pretty words' filling the silence for the rest of our lives.”

Ahh they got daisy engaged, married, and had twins. A boy named Dominic and a girl named Delilah. I thought I'd be out of tears but here they are streaming down my face.
😍😭🥰😭😍😭🥰

I just dont think this was for me. Although I will say I loved grayson 🤭 and overall I think it did have a lot of potential but it just wasn't for me. This definitely had more spice than the moment promised but this was just a cute and easy read. Would I read it again? Probably not.

Why did no one tell me tissues were needed 🥺. If you’re sensitive to topics like grief and trauma be careful.

It’s a really fun and sad as fck story to read and I just love love. There was no need for Macy to be such a bitch in the beginning tho and they were fake enemies to lovers because they were not enemies she just disliked him for no reason.

Having said that love the nickname Tato cute as fuck.
And Grayson pleaseeee cute man, YOU COULD HAVE TOLD ME I WAS GOING TO CRY.

Also did remind me a bit of a story Emily Henry could write. Especially since our FMC is an author.

Oh and I completely missed that they were only 23?! In my head they were more like 29 but oh well hahahaha

Some quotes (could contain spoilers so be warned)

Think of the deep blue sea. How some days, the water is so still it becomes glass, and others it rages with whitecaps so powerful, the salty water could easily replace the air of the strongest lungs. It deceives as a calm sea until a storm strikes, so similar to grief

“You were the sun, Mace”.
“What made you happy?” I asked wanting to know what he was like as a kid. He answered, “the sun” 🥹

I have something to admit: I've never been into the childhood friends-to-lovers trope. I have no idea why, but there's always been something about it, and I think it's 'cause I'm VERY into the idea of falling in love with someone right now, and not going back to something in the past. Does that make sense??? Anyway, all of this to preface the fact that, despite that little fun fact, I LOVED this book, and Macy and Grayson have my whole heart. I went to sleep after Grayson's background story was revealed and actually slept with a heavy heart, but the good thing is, this book has a HAPPY ENDING, and I'm so grateful 'cause my gosh, this was beautiful. UGHH, he's so in love with her, it makes me want to explode—in a good way.

4.5/5 ★★★★
(only reason it's a 4.5 is 'cause she used the wrong "your" and "their"... I can't help it okay)

I have waited months for this book to come out and it did not disappoint. The way everything came together in the end had me in tears. The fact they had twins made me sob. This was such an emotional and beautiful story and I am so happy I found this author. Her tattoo!!!!! Also I love how the main guy was 6'4🤭🤭 Never have I read a book with this many highlights. I could have highlighted everything. Amber's writing is so wrong and beautiful.

The wait for this book was so worth it! The banter between the two characters were amazing and I yearned for more as I continued to read along. The author has a way with words and I fell in love with the way she wrote this book. This was amazing and I had so many favorite phrases from these characters. This book was absolutely amazing and I cannot wait to read whatever she has planned next.

So this book is my first emotional read honestly. This book didn’t feel like the rest, it genuinely felt like it could be happening to someone in real life and I think that’s what makes it so emotional. It’s a quick lil read so if you need a break or something quick it’s a good fit for you. I’m gonna spoil a little bit so cover your ears…The only part of this book and the reason why I give it 4 stars and not 5 is because the fiancée situation pisses me off and (maybe it’s just personal opinion so take it with a grain of salt) but this man is just a complete ass and there is no way in hell she was ever attracted or wanted to be with him for real because of how fast she was to move on or even wanted to be with Grayson. And don’t get me wrong I get the whole back story of their relationship but in the moment of reading the book before the plot twist it’s kinda like this is too fast. I just wished we got more context or a timeline even to explain their relationship as adults. That’s really the only flaw in this book that I have. The rest of the book is good and if this book was turned into a movie I would watch it for sure.

3.5-4 ⭐️'s. the literal only flaw I have with this book is that it's marketed as enemies to lovers and didn't feel like that AT ALLL. it kept trying to make it enemies to lovers throughout by her claiming she "hated him" after they'd be having an amazing day and I was like girl you know you don't hate this man and never have 🤣

the actual romance was so cute, I'd say it's more childhood friends to lovers. there's also such a sad flashback storyline so I really just wish this wasn't claiming enemies to lovers cause it had such a good plot without that

Oof. What do I even say about this book? I started it around 7 pm and finished it at 9 am this next day. I couldn’t put it down. I’m not one who normally likes sad or emotional books, but this one got me. The banter and one liners in the beginning hooked me so fast. Grayson is such a sweet and funny man. The plot twist was completely unexpected.

3.5 stars⭐

The book was cute and lovely. I really liked Grayson! The lilttle twist was adorable and I thought this was going to be a 4 stars book. But the end was kind of dragging and I was losing interest. The great moments were great but the slowest moments were slow for me.

still recommand this book tho🫶🏼

Okay I'm sorry, enemies to lovers?? Where's the enemies in that????? Also the big fucking vibe of cheating I'm getting.. no thank you, any type of cheating, emotional cheating, physical cheating, as soon as you start looking at someone else in a romantic way, especially like an almost kiss.

**6/5 Stars – An Adorable Must-Read!**

WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THIS BOOK??

"Her Pretty Words" by Amber Evergreen was such a super cute book, following main characters Macy and Grayson. I loved it from the moment I picked it up! I actually finished it in less than 24 hours, which is so rare for me—that’s how hooked I was from the very beginning.

Macy and Grayson’s story is the typical romance book that I LOVE and adore—enemies to lovers, one bed, and dual POV—but Grayson is keeping a secret that might ruin it all 👀. The plot twist had me shook, and I loved every second of it!

“Like a moth to a flame, I’d willingly burn just to be closer to her.”💛

One thing that made me love this book even more was that I couldn’t predict what was going to happen next.It kept me on my toes the entire time, and I was obsessed with the twists and turns.

Also, I can’t let this review be done without talking about the banter in this book. HOLY COW, the banter was bantering, and I was eating it up! My favorite thing to do is giggle, laugh, and smile at fictional characters, and that’s exactly what I did throughout this book.

I was in a serious reading slump after Onyx Storm, and this book pulled me right out of it. Now, I don’t even know how I ever lived without it

Amber, girl, keep writing, and just know I will read them ALL because I LOVE sappy romance books 😍😍

Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a heartwarming, engaging read with a bit of drama and a lot of swoon-worthy moments!

This book is so confusing and feels not well thought out. First they are random strangers in an airport and this guy is being very creepy towards a random woman who missed her plane. Come to find out he’s her neighbor and he loves her? Apparently he is also the little boy that moved away bc his whole family died and he told no one about it. But then it’s revealed that he told her grandmother? She never asked for his last name, goes a whole month and falls in love with him but doesn’t even ask what is full name is? Also why did he go back to the house every year and stay hidden? How could you go an entire week without anyone recognizing you? It’s creepy that he watched her grow up and feel in love with her but couldn’t go and see her.

Entire book was the author going back on things she already said earlier and made it very confusing. Love story was not very believable and built on one very large lie that was also way too crazy.

Amber Evergreen has absolutely outdone herself with Her Pretty Words! This enemies-to-lovers romance is a whirlwind of emotions, witty banter, and unexpected plot twists that had me hooked from the first page to the last.

The dynamic between the two main characters is electric. Their banter is sharp, playful, and downright addictive—it kept me smiling and laughing even as the tension between them simmered beneath the surface. What makes this story stand out is not just the romance, but the depth of their emotional journeys. The dual POV adds a wonderful layer, allowing readers to truly understand both perspectives as their walls slowly crumble and they navigate the fine line between hatred and love.

And let me just say—those plot twists! Just when I thought I knew where the story was heading, Evergreen hit me with twists that left me absolutely shook. The pacing is perfect, keeping the stakes high without ever feeling rushed.

Beyond the banter and tension, the writing is beautifully layered. Amber Evergreen doesn’t just tell a love story—she weaves in themes of personal growth, trust, and vulnerability, giving the romance a depth that feels so real and relatable. Her writing is rich with emotion and nuance, making this much more than a typical romance novel.

If you love enemies-to-lovers with sharp wit, sizzling chemistry, and jaw-dropping twists, Her Pretty Words is an absolute must-read. Amber Evergreen’s storytelling is top-tier, and this book is proof of her incredible talent! Highly recommended!

Absolutely looved every second of this book! Finally a story that is way more than just the typical romance; mature characters that are flawed and broken but are still able to find love and joy in each other and in themselves. There’s so much depth in their connection and feeling, you get to really understand and feel for them. You can’t convince me that this people aren’t real. Uhh I just love them so much!!
Amber portrayed this story so beautifully it feels like you’re there experiencing everything with them. I’m so glad I came across her books & can’t wait to read more from her!

—“I thought heaven was a place that couldn’t exist on Earth. I despised heaven and hated how there wasn’t a staircase that could lead me there. I know heaven is a place, but it can also be a person. You are my heaven, Mace.”—

If I could give Her Pretty Words more than 5 stars I would. The author perfectly captured enemies to lovers and so beautifully brought the characters to life. I could not put this book down! It had me crying, laughing, and kicking my feet in excitement. I fell in love with Macy and Grayson. It is such a beautiful book with the perfect amount of spice🌶️ lol. If you’re hesitant on reading this book, it is simply amazing. I am excited to read more from this author. For this being her second book, she is well written and knows how to create a world from inside the pages!

Solid 4.5 ⭐️ This book was very good, very cute and the plot was very well written. The main character aggravated me at times when she’d just get mad for no good reason like, why are you mad Grayson didn’t reveal himself yet… But other than that it was a very good read, had me giggling and kicking under my covers. There are sex scenes but they were light I just skimmed over them. Would definitely recommend if you like childhood friends to lovers, miscommunication trope and grumpy x sunshine. Love y’all!

I just finished this book today and it was so good! The way the author made the characters come alive was amazing! It almost felt like I was experiencing all the emotions the characters were going through. I related to Macy in so many ways with how she handled some of her emotions. This book felt like a true romance book and I loved that, the way the author described love in these books truly made me feel like love is worth it. Can’t wait to see more of this author’s writing in the future!
