She thinks she’s hunting me. She doesn’t realise she already belongs to me.
I’ll keep her safe, even if I have to chain her to my bed to do it. Or maybe she’s just my next obsession, destined to be destroyed like the others.

Maeve was never supposed to get caught up in this. I took a badge to keep her safe and to keep Djall at bay, but I see it in her eyes now. She shares the same darkness I’ve spent years trying to hide.
She thinks she’s in control. She has no idea what’s coming.
I won’t let Djall have her, but I won’t let her go either. And if protecting her means becoming the monster I’ve always buried then so be it. If Djall doesn’t break her… I just might.

It’s a Christmas present full of surprises and m^rder 😈
Maeve, has worked hard to get where she is in the police force along with her colleague, Aeron they are searching for a serial k!ller. Though, he knows more than he’s willing to tell her, as she goes from one crime scene to another seeking evidence. On top of this, she has a stalker of her own, he leaves gifts, but he also has secrets he holds. He takes it upon himself to kidnap her in order for her to learn some truths about herself and her parents. Not giving anymore away 😉

Maeve is a cop looking for a serial killer.
Her cop buddy is hiding secrets from her.
The serial killer is closer than she knows.
The beginning drags for quite a while but because this is Devon and I know she's gonna give us some fuckery (which she did) I held on. Still, the first half was a snooze feast while the last half felt rushed.
Falling for the bad guy after he's kidnapped you after 1... 2 days had me rolling my eyes and pissed me off. Maeve just went with it way too quickly for my liking.
There's a twist at the end that I picked up pretty early on but then when it was confirmed... 🥴 eeeuuuuyyyuucckkk!! 🤣

This book might be my favorite book that I have read in a really long time. The ending had a twist I didn't saw coming but it was amazing and fitting for the story.
Aeron, Djall and Maeves story is one filled with lots of murder, secrets, falling in love, being obsessed with her, video cameras hiding in multiple houses and lots of hot and steamy scenes between the all both together (mfm) and in pairs (mf).
This book is filled with lots of wonderful things such as somnophilia, breeding, bondage, incest, knifeplay and stalking.

I was enjoying this until I got to the ending. If it would have had a different way of ending, I'd rate this at a 5 start for such a short quick read. But alas I did not head too much to the list of trigger warnings at the start of the book.
