If you like sizzling hot romance, Ice Queens and Enemies to Lovers, this one is for you!Fire Captain Cassidy Harris is as dedicated to her team as they come. Proud, stubborn, and fiercely protective, she’s not about to let anyone waltz in and mess with Phoenix Ridge Fire Department.
Of course she clashes immediately with Evelyn Ford—a stone cold Ice Queen tasked with modernizing the fire department. Cassidy is ready to fight tooth and nail against Evelyn’s changes, but then there is the one thing she didn’t expect... the heated chemistry between her and her sworn enemy Evelyn.
As they clash over budget cuts and safety measures, the walls between them start to crack, and the heat between them becomes impossible to deny.
Can Cass and Evelyn find a way to work together without everything going up in flames? Or will their passion burn them both?
Ok so fire is hot, ah but so is the connection between Cass and Evelyn.
Emily Hayes has mastered the ever so important link between people. This story pits a pencil pusher trying to cut costs with a hard headed but warm hearted fire captain. The fight to cut costs vs save family, keep fire fighters safe and the population safe is difficult in the best of times. I loved the interplay of the face offs of the characters, love/hate relationship! Really good writing, plenty of heat and anxiety.
Fire Captain Cassidy Harris is the Chief of Phoenix Ridge Fire Department. They are her family and she will defend them to the death. When Evelyn Ford, the new city budget manager, arrives with lots of “efficiencies” to implement, the recognize their uncompromising approaches will not be easy to balance. And yet the attraction between them is unavoidable even when they argue at every turn. A burning hot fire leads to a clash between titans. Great series.
Yeah I thought this was actually really good. Not perfect, and in some ways I kind of am a stickler for inner dialogue and thoughts being in italics, but that’s just a specific detail I don’t like. This flip-flopping style seemingly doesn’t work for every story, but I like the split narrative style for these two. It’s on the shorter side, so it does feel a little rushed at times, but all in all I did like the characters and did enjoy the story.
Emily you are awesome to say the least. I've lost count how many of your books I've read and and still have more I haven't read yet. Keep up the great sexy and very interesting writing. I really really enjoy your writing.
