Rainbow Ranch

Lasso Lovebirds

Rate this book
In this steamy polyamorous cowboy romance novella, Beau Adams finds that the best things always happen in threes…

Living in the heart of Oklahoma, I’m just a cowboy with boots rooted firmly in running Rainbow Ranch. As eldest brother and professional worrier, I spend my days working hard with my family and yearning for someone I can never have.

Priscilla. She’s called Rainbow Ranch home for years and without her, my world would fall apart. Pris is gorgeous and smart and deserves everything good in her life. While I’ve always had eyes for her, I’ve never been brave enough to cross the fence between friends and lovers.

When a charming storm chaser named Sky arrives at our ranch, the three of us decide to give our wild hearts a chance. Sky is charismatic and sweeter than a cinnamon bun, and they just might be the missing piece we’ve needed.

But with pains from the past and worries about the future, Pris isn’t sure she can risk being hurt again, Sky isn’t sure Rainbow Ranch can be their home, and I’m not sure I can be the cowboy Pris and Sky deserve.

Can fate lasso the three of us into giving love a chance? Or will this whirlwind romance be our first and last rodeo?

Thanks to Meg and Clio Evans for the e-ARC ✨ (all thoughts are my own)

I’ve been eyeing Clio Evans’ work for a while, and I really enjoyed my first read of theirs!!

Despite the insta-love (which I generally avoid but expect in a novella), I found the moments between Beau, Pris and Sky really sweet. They bonded their shared desire to help keep people safe, Beau through managing Rainbow Ranch, Pris by growing food for the ranch, and Sky through their passion for storm chasing, which stems from wanting to help study them. The author took the time to explore the different dynamics and I appreciated the care she put into developing both the duos and the trio. I also loved the glimpses we got of the day-to-day activities required to manage the ranch, as well as Beau’s relationship with his siblings, which made Rainbow Ranch sound like such a warm and welcoming place.

It’s a lovely sweet and spicy bite-size romance, perfect for reading between two heavy hitters. And it has a lovely map 🥰

It can be read as a standalone, but is part of a series of novellas set in Rainbow Ranch. If you were following the moment cowboy romances had and thought “can we make it queer?” this series might be for you!!

A storm was brewing between the three of us.
I just hoped we’d still be standing at the end of it.

This was a quick and easy read. I enjoyed being back amongst the Rainbow Ranch fam. This book featured Beau Adams and his two love interests, longtime friend and ranch gardener, Priscilla, and newcomer stormchaser, Sky. It was certainly insta-lust between the three, and even though Beau and Priscilla apparently pined for each other for years, I'd say it was insta-love too. But the three were cute together, and the book was quite spicy. Let's just say the three of them were quite compatible when it came to their sexual preferences. The story was low angst with a cute ending.

This was a nice, easy read. I enjoy everything about Rainbow Ranch, the characters, and the whole vibe. It’s a great story to read.

This time it’s Beau’s turn to fall in love, and he gets a twofer. Each of his partners brings something different to the relationship and helps him realise that he is more than enough for someone(or more than one) to love.

It was insta-lust and insta-love really. It all happens over the course of a couple of weeks and even the epilogue is only a couple of months later. They quickly become infatuated with each other and they make a cute throuple.

It was a low angst, cute, and spicy romance.

"Our love was the rainbow after the storms that chased us all."

The second book in the Rainbow Ranch world and I'm OBSESSED 😍. This book follows Beau, Boone's twin, Pris, and Sky. Sky is out chasing storms and takes shelter at Rainbow Ranch where they meet Beau and Pris. Beau and Pris have had tension brewing between them for a hot minute and when Sky comes onto the ranch it boils over and the three of them are hot hot hot 😮‍💨. I love the dynamics between these three. Sky has found their family with Rainbow Ranch and Beau and Pris and it was so beautiful to see. Also Beau's nickname for Sky, little storm, is the absolute cutest. I'm excited for the next book in this world!

I absolutely loved this cowboy/girl/they romance! I was a little apprehensive in the beginning with the mention of tornados, and the MC Sky (they/them) being a storm chaser, just because I was thinking of how the two go together, realistically I had no idea where Oklahoma was thats my bad 😂 but once the story really got started I was obsessed with everyone. I know this is a interconnected series with multiple authors and I planned on reading the other books when I got a chance but now it more of a as soon as possible thing. all the characters showed how much they loved each other and how welcoming they were to this essentially random person who showed up. now onto the relationships, Sky and Pris?! THE TRACTOR?!!! OMG i was basically barking reading that scene. so hot and nothing basically happened but you could feel the tension between the two and i was eating every second up. with Sky and Beau I loved the truck scene. the way beau was talking to them was so hot and he was so attentive and prepared! we love a prepared king. but seeing him and pris? the switch coming out and her loving everyone on their knees for her really did something to me that will be thought about later. all i could think about was how loud they were with how many people were in the house 😭 I would be pissed if I was single hearing all this, like it sounds like fun and here's me and my hand 😂

thank you to clio for having me arc read!

This cute novella in the Rainbow Ranch series has the sweetest throuple I've read. We got Sky, the non-binary storm chaser looking for a new place to call home. And Priscilla, the feisty farmer who has a deep seeded love she wants to grow. Then there's Beau, the boss cowboy who runs the ranch and didn't know how much he needed love until it fell into his lap.
Things heat up real fast in this story and the climax is quite exciting. I loved the LGBTQ+ representation in this story. I only wish there was more of everything. There could only be so much development in a novella and I was left wanting to know more about the characters and see more antics they get up to. But it's the perfect read if you need a quick and spicy story set on a ranch.

What a lovely read! If Rainbow Ranch were a real place, I'd consider moving to the US. Sadly it's not, so I'm going to stay right here in Europe, tyvm :')

While I thought the plot was rather predicatable, I found that reading this story was just a cozy, fun experience with lots of kinky spice. I loved the dynamic between these three amazing characters, especially when to this day I still rarely encounter (romance) stories including non-binary characters, so the round-up to 5 stars is purely for Sky <3

This was a fun book I was excited to read on the back of Stirring Spurs: Rainbow Ranch. The queer positive / queer normative setting the authors have created in this shared universe is so refreshing to read and I like meeting all the characters and getting to know why they call Rainbow Ranch their home.

The slight dip from 4⭐️s was because, for me, the story felt a bit formulaic at times but I feel like that's the risk of having to develop 3 characters in such a short book. All in all, I did enjoy it and I can't wait to see what's next in Saddle Studs: Rainbow Ranch 🤩

This is a fun, sweet, and low-angst novella abt three v. likeable ppl who fall for each other while also having some hot times throughout the story.

Readers' enjoyment will depend a lot on how well they can deal with two things:

1. How quickly things develop between Beau, Pris, and Sky.

Keeping in mind the constraints of the format does help a little with seeing how quickly the throuple get together. One point in their favor is that there's almost no miscommunication, so everything happens smoother than expected.

2. The high compatibility

It's, for lack of better word, quite convenient that all three MCs are not only polyamorous (if not, open to the idea of polyamory), but also surprisingly well-matched in terms of kink, AND being bisexual/pansexual/queer.

I did rolled my eyes (though more with amusement than anything else) once it was clear that there wasn't gonna be any issues of, say, a character not being into kink at all OR struggling w/the notion of non-monogamy. However, this being a novella, I ended up shrugging all of it off and continued reading.

FWIW, had this been a full-length novel, the triple simpatico (queerness, non-monogamy, and kink) would've been too OTT for me, and I feel it'd have bored me.

Trigger/Content warnings:

TL;DR: IMO, this is the strongest of all three novellas in the series. Good writing, interesting characters w/fascinating dynamics, and hella hot times. I read it in one afternoon and would recommend it to anyone wanting a satisfying read.

I borrowed this from KU.

Are there times when you wonder if something usually predictable in your life will turn out differently? For example, I sometimes wonder if I will be disappointed by a new book from an author I love. As far as Clio Evans is concerned, the answer is no, and Lasso Lovebirds is no exception. In fact, I devoured this book from cover to cover in one sitting. I loved Lasso Lovebirds, and I enjoyed following the story of Beau, Priscilla, and Sky.

After reading Stirring Spurs, I really wanted to know more about Beau, Boone’s twin brother. I wanted to know more about this somewhat gruff man who took on the responsibilities of the Rainbow Ranch after his parents died, likely to spare his siblings the additional burden on top of their grief. While reading Lasso Lovebirds, it quickly becomes clear that Beau will do whatever it takes to protect the people he cares about. This is hardly surprising when you consider just how wonderful the Adams siblings are.

Pris is a character who appears briefly in Stirring Spurs. I enjoyed getting to know her better in Lasso Lovebirds. I am always a fan of strong, intelligent female characters, and when they take on a dominant role in more private aspects of their lives, I love them even more. As I’ve mentioned before, I have a preference for stories in which women are dominant—or switches. How can you not appreciate seeing Beau and Sky kneel before Priscilla? As for me, I wouldn’t know.

Speaking of whom, Sky is another character I really liked. As a huge fan of the original Twister movie—yes, I’m old—I’ve always dreamed of going storm chasing. Since I don’t live in a country where tornadoes are common, I live out that dream vicariously through fictional characters. Sky is an interesting character and the missing piece that allows Beau and Priscilla to finally be together. They are essential to the polyamorous relationship that develops between the three of them.

As always, a shout-out to Dennis, the cutest little menace around the ranch.

I can’t wait to see what happens next in the series!

Many thanks to Clio Evans for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC of Lasso Lovebirds. This review is my own. All opinions expressed are mine.

This is the second novella in the shared universe of rainbow ranch series following Beau, Priscilla and Sky.

Beau is the older of the Adams siblings, and the one in charge of taking care of pretty much everything in the ranch. Priscilla works at the ranch as the gardener, she’s the one who makes sure the food they eat is ready for the ones in the ranch. And Sky is a stranger storm chaser passing by when one of the tornadoes was hitting close to the ranch looking for a place to stay.

Beau and Priscilla have always had a thing for each other and they have incredible banter but never acted out in pursuing each other until Sky came along and they decided that it was worth taking the chance to finally get what they wanted.

After reading Stirring Spurs and meeting Beau I knew I wanted to know his story and it didn’t disappoint. The relationship between them was really sweet and spicy filled with lots of tension and longing looks. The way they complemented each other and knew how to make it work was chef kiss. The spice was HOT 🥵, but the sweet moments were just too much as well!

One thing I’ve loved so far in this series is how queer positive it is. How everyone is welcomed and appreciated and supported just as they are. The found family is always amazing. And I cannot wait for Billie and Benny’s stories!! 💙

Tropes: cowboy romance, m/f/nbi, polyamorous relationship, storm chasing, tractor riding, campfire flirting, kinky af, age gaps, found family.

TW: parental death (car accident, past, mentioned), mental health, grief, homophobia, extreme weather (tornadoes incl one destroying a town, past, recounted), alcohol consumption, disassociation, animal rehabilitation, toxic relationship (past, mentioned), nightmares (past, mentioned), divorce (past, mentioned).

CW: light D/s, spanking, Shibari, toys, switching, biting, semi public play, hand necklace.

Lasso Lovebirds by Clio Evans
“I’m no good at words…But every single part of me is in awe of you”

Synopsis: In the second book in the Rainbow Ranch series, Beau Adams has always loved Priscilla, his best friend and fellow Rainbow Ranch resident—but never dared to tell her. When charming storm chaser Sky arrives, sparks fly between all three. As feelings deepen, each must confront fears about love, home, and whether they’re brave enough to take a chance on something real. Can they find forever together, or will this whirlwind romance end before it truly begins?

Imma be honest with you guys, I’ve been in a terrible reading slump. I’m struggling to find enjoyment in any books which is super unlike me. However, a few weeks ago I bought the first book in this series in a physical copy and somehow ended up reading the second book first (like the chaos goblin I am deep down) and I LOVED IT SO MUCH.

This is my first why choose with a NB character and I absolutely adored them. “Little storm,” as they’re affectionately nicknamed, was the perfect catalyst for Beau and Priscilla to realize how perfect they could be together - with Sky by their sides. It was truly wonderful to witness (and also hot - very hot)

One of my favorite parts of this book was the depiction of consensual shifting of power dynamics and kink of an erotic nature. At one point, Sky says, “The energy shared in the room and the way we work together was beautiful. Threads in a tapestry of desire and lust, all crossing together to create a bigger picture.” I thought that was really beautiful.

I love romance that breaks down stereotypes, created worlds we wished we lived in, and brings us closer to crashing the stigma around romance as a whole, and this one did it for me. I’m gonna jump backwards and devour book one next, but this series of novellas is already off to a great start for me.💕✨📚🚜🛁

Clio Evans will always take my money and soul at this point with their books 🙂‍↕️ they write throuples so well, and this was just another instance of them doing it.

Beau, Pris, And Sky are some of my favorite characters by her now and they are adorable 😫 they compliment each other so well and you can see the love they have for each other. Seeing scenes with Beau/Sky, Sky/Pris, and Pris/Beau was mwah chefs kiss! I love when authors take the time to show that connection between multiple partners separately and not just only as a threesome. Cause after all if you all love and trust each other, you do not need to have sex with both partners all the time. Take the love and trust and spend time with everyone separately at times. This is how you can form a strong relationship among the three of yall.

Seeing a Domme, Switch, and Sub was wonderful and I thought everything was done safely and with care. I will always enjoy big men who are protective being submissive 😏

Sky being a storm chaser was everything I needed quite honestly. I want to read more storm chaser books, and this was the first. Although I do wish we saw more storms besides the one form the beginning and end, but this is a novella so that makes it hard. If the book was longer I am sure we would have seen a scene where all three went out to see the storm (can only dream).

But I truly loved this book! I have been in a reading slump for a while, and this took me right out of it. I devoured this in less than a day, and could have in one sitting but I had other things to do.

I cannot wait to read the other siblings books now cause frankly I need to read them all.

Clio Evans has yet to write something I did not love in its own way. So, when I saw that they were writing an interconnected stand-alone series with another author about queer love on a ranch, i was all in!

Do you enjoy interconnected stand-alone series?
Do you enjoy friends to lovers?
Do you enjoy queer love?
Do you enjoy M F Nb polya why choose relationships?

Then you should check out this one. It is sweet. It is spicy. It makes me miss my hometown in Texas. And, I wish that there was a queer ranch like it there.

178 pages
Currently available in kindleunlimited, at least in the US.
This is the 3rd book so far in the interconnected stand-alone series. But, even with that, and NOT having read the other books first. I was able to understand the main story, and the things happening in the background, AND get the jist of things that happened previously.

Thank you to the author for allowing me to read this one early. It is always a pleasure.

"“I am not good enough for you,” he whispered. “I don't think I'm good enough for Sky. And yet I can't get either one of you out of my head. I've been dreaming about you for years, but I haven't done anything about it until now.”" Beau Adams.
This just might be one of my favorite quotes from the book. But, it was very hard to pick one.

Some content warning information, per the author, as posted in the book.
-Parental death from car wreck (happened in past, discussed, accident not on page) -Discussions of mental health and grief Discussions of homophobia Detailed sex scenes with: BDSM Dom/sub dynamics, praise kink, spanking, Shibari, Sybian Saddle, oral sex, threesomes, squirting, throat fucking, sex toys, and more.

This story was everything you’d want in a western romance all stuffed into a perfect novella sized package. Lasso Lovebirds is the second installment in the Rainbow Ranch series and was fun, sweet, but super spicy, and filled with so much love and positive queer energy.
While storm chasing, Sky finds themself making a pit stop at Rainbow Ranch where they meet Beau & Priscilla who are everything they didn’t know they were looking for. The chemistry is immediate and soon they all realize that one cannot exist without the other.
This book really brought home the message of belonging in a place when you may have never found one before. Sky, Beau, & Pris embrace a part of themselves they never thought they’d be able to, and find hope in a happily ever after with one another. I feel like despite the short length of the novella, the characters are fleshed out and you really get to know them individually. Because of this, their dynamic is easy and never feels overwhelming or forced.
This story was a such a joy to read and I can’t wait to visit Rainbow Ranch again in the near future!

First, I want to thank Clio Evans for the opportunity to read this book ahead of its release!
Honestly, the Rainbow Ranch series really snuck up on me, and now I can’t wait to get to know everyone. I’m so excited to watch each character find their happily ever after.
Beau, Pris, and Sky were the sweetest, most wholesome people ever, and I’m so glad I got the chance to meet them. I was rooting for them from the very first page, and I loved how their story unfolded. Sky was the only one we hadn’t met in the previous book, and they were such a wonderful surprise. I really enjoyed their personality and their perspective. Beau and Pris were briefly mentioned and introduced in Stirring Spurs, but now we truly get to know them - and they did not disappoint. These three honestly stole my heart so quickly.
This was such a great experience. I loved reading about these characters and spending more time at Rainbow Ranch.
I can’t wait to see what happens with the rest of the family!

Lassos and Lovebirds is a cute, queer western romance novella. The relationship between Beau, Priscilla and Sky is definitely a whirlwind, fast-moving romance, but that is a bit to be expected for a novella. I loved the little peek that we got into each characters past, but that the main focus was on the formation of a polyamorous relationship where all parties are loved and cared for equally.

There are certainly some unrealistic things that occur (like a superhuman refractory period 😂), but I didn’t come here for realistic, I came for a good time! And as I do with anything Clio Evans writes, I had a good time. YEEHAW, cowfolks. 🤠

Something else that i enjoyed immensely were the little nods at typical western / “cowboy” customs that were tweaked a bit to be more inclusive and non-gender specific.

Overall, the story is very cute, a bit spicy and I love the non-binary and polyamorous representation!

[I was provided an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review.]

This sweet, sexy, and fun novella was absolutely everything I needed.
I love the thought of a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community in a place that’s known for its bigotry and hatred, and Rainbow Ranch gave me that and so much more.

The characters were all fantastic, and I genuinely need more of them!
(Yes I know all the siblings will have books by different authors. Don’t worry I will devour those too!)
The tension between Paris and Beau coming to head was soooo hot, and then Sky’s love for them both was so sugary sweet I wanted to chew on it like bubble gum!!

I love Clio in their small town cowboy era as much as I love their monster romances, and I love this series with different authors so much!😍

Clio Evans never misses. There's something about the way she writes that just pulls me in and puts me in a chokehold in the sexiest of ways. I've been a fan of her works for a couple years now and I love the way she wrote Beau, Pris, and Sky. Beau was the perfect guy, especially if you love men who whimper, and Pris is a wonderful dom. I think maybe I would've liked to have seen a bit more communication between these three, especially as being in a polyamorous relationship it's all about communication about what you're doing with your partners when one isn't present, and there was a bit where two of them got together because they just couldn't wait and that didn't sit right with me. Clio is usually pretty good with poly relationship rep in my opinion so this was a bit different to see from her

Ugh I was really hoping that this book would be five stars , it started off really amazing but I just needed more depth and I know it’s a novella but I needed it to be longer.
I needed to know more about the characters, like yeah we got a bit of the backstories but that just didn’t feel I like a lot.
Everything was progressing too fast lol even the characters knew that they were moving too fast .
I really did enjoy most of it tho , it’s not common to get nonbinary rep in romance books and even more rare to see them in poly romance books.
I loved the representation and how each of the characters were so relatable in some way.
I also love that they are all in their late 20s to 30s , I need more poly romance books with older characters in them
I would recommend if you want a cute cowboy romance as like a palette cleanser

This is a fun polyamorous cowboy romance novella! It is part of Rainbow Ranch, the multi-author series of interconnected standalones.

MMC Beau, the ranch manager (and Boone’s twin), is just trying to keep things in order. Then a storm blows in and NBiMC stormchaser Sky asks for a place to stay. Sparks fly between them right away. Gardener FMC Pris has also been harboring feelings for Beau, (and he was for her as well) but now Pris finds herself intrigued by Sky as well.

I enjoyed this installment. It is easy-to-read, kinky, has some sweet moments, and a cast of fun, unique characters.

This was another great addition to the series, and honestly my favorite of the published installments so far. I’m really hoping we eventually get Billie’s story too!

Rounding down my rating to a 3.5. I loved the first book in this series but this one was a tad boring. The first book was written by one of my go-to authors and this one was a new-to-me author so maybe I’m just not used to their writing style. But also, it didn’t have the cuteness factor the first one did. The first one had sweet moments between the twins and Dennis getting into mischief. While this one had a scene or two with the twins, it didn’t have the sweetness factor I came to love. This story followed Sky, a storm chaser coming to the ranch and falling head over heels (instantly) with Beau the eldest brother and twin and the gardener guru Pris. It was pretty steamy starting at about the 1/2 way mark, but it just felt a little flat to me. I still love the idea of the ranch and what it stands for, but I’m hoping the next book is more plot and less pining.

This was a fun, cute, quick and spicy little queer cowboy novella. I enjoyed it a lot more than the first in this shared series. I loved the dynamic between the three characters, and I felt like there was really good character and relationship development, despite it being a novella.

Things do move quickly though, insta love is not my favorite trope, but I can look past it in a novella.

I still absolutely adore rainbow ranch and all the characters. I do feel like we got less of the side characters in this story than the first.

The spice was excellent and inclusive. Again, I loved the characters dynamic, and this book is chock full of consent.

I cannot wait to read Benny’s story next!

Everything Clio Evans puts out is an instant favorite for me and this book is no expectation. I LOVE that Rainbow Ranch is somewhere anyone can come seek shelter and be unconditionally accepted for who they are and who they love.

I truly had such a fun time watching Priscilla and Beau dance around their years of attraction, only for Sky (aka Little Storm) to knocked them both off their feet and make them confront both their feelings for each other and Sky themself.

The steamy scenes are always A-Tier and I might have pulled an all-nighter because I couldn't stop reading this. I truly could have read 20+ chapters of these three, their ranch, and their little ranch family. Overall, this makes me really excited to dive into the other books in this series.

Lasso Lovebirds by Clio Evans takes place in the same world of the western romance series - Rainbow Ranch. Clio's story is a ṣïzzlïng ṣëxƴ tïmëṣ, polyamorous, ägë-gäp, a lot of different ƙïnƙs represented romance between Ranch Boss/Owner Beau, Lead Agriculturalist Pris & Storm Chaser Photographer Sky. This is a beautiful romance story about finding love & acceptance, finding your forever people and living/working with your found family. Clio always, always, always writes about that everyone deserves love & romance...

Oh this one was HOT!!! Lasso Lovebirds is book 2 in the Rainbow Ranch series. I wish Rainbow Ranch was real because I adore all of these characters so much. It’s a place I want to move to and never leave.

Beau, Pris, and Sky—I loved all of them so much!! Even though this is a novella, we got the perfect amount of backstory for each character. Beau and Pris’s relationship already had so much tension. And when Sky arrived? The connection between the three of them was immediate! It only continued to grow as the book went on. I loved watching them fall for each other.

This was the perfect novella! I can’t wait to read the next one.
