The Mysterious Case of the Missing Ghost

Rate this book
Emily Hildebrandt is learning to settle into some of the very strange cases that come through The Redemption Detective Agency’s door.

Like Aunt Tilde’s friend Ruth who claims she’s lost a ghost.

How does one lose a ghost? Apparently when the ghost decides to walk out the door.

But, to make matters more complicated, it’s not just any ghost but the ghost of Ruth’s dead husband. Who was murdered decades ago under very suspicious circumstances.

Emily has no choice but to go back in time and figure out what really happened to Ruth’s husband, in order for everyone to rest in peace.

A spin-off from the Charlie Kingsley Mystery series! The Redemption Detective Agency is a funny, twisty cozy mystery series set in the 1990s featuring silver sleuths solving cold cases. Great for fans of the Thursday Murder Club.

A USA Today Bestselling, award-winning author, Michele taught herself to read at 3 years old because she wanted to write stories so badly. It took some time (and some detours) but now she does spend much of her time writing stories. Mystery stories, to be exact. They're clean and twisty, and range from psychological thrillers to cozies, with a dash of romance and supernatural thrown into the mix. If that wasn't enough, she posts lots of fun things on her blog, including short stories, puzzles, recipes and more, at MPWNovels.com.

Michele grew up in Wisconsin, (hence why all her books take place there), and currently lives there after spending nearly 30 years living in the mountains of Prescott, Arizona, with her husband and southern squirrel hunter Cassie.

When she's not writing, she's usually reading, hanging out with her dog, or watching the Food Network and imagining she's an awesome cook. (Spoiler alert, she's not. Luckily for the whole family, Mr. PW is in charge of the cooking.)

There is a lesson to be learned in this brilliant story. What happens to so many elderly people who have no one to keep them from con men who gladly prey on them. Thank goodness for these caring detectives who helped guide a widow back from nearly loosing everything. A book not to be taken lightly. Wonderful characters. Entertaining and Witty. Highly Recommended.

I ended up enjoying this a lot more than I expected to. It ended on a cliffhanger which felt a bit frustrating but not in a bad way, more of just in a I-want-to-read-the-next-book sort of way.

The characters of Aunt Tilde and Mildred annoyed me much less than in the previous book and started to just be more entertaining. They were also a bit more endearing. Nick as a character felt more solid as well and Jerome felt like he became a more rounded character. Same goes for Trisha. Really I am really glad I gave this book a shot as I didn’t like the last one very much.

This book was 4.5 stars for me and I really enjoyed reading it all throughout. The mystery itself was compelling as well as the characters. The amount of dialogue didn’t bother me as it felt interesting and relevant. Honestly I love the concept of having to find someone’s ghost husband. Ruth was a really sympathetic character and felt realistic.

Looking back at my rating for the first book I did enjoy this one more than that one which is pretty cool. I am definitely anticipating the next book in this series, the series has started to feel more like a comfort read to me which I really like and definitely is proof of the cozy mystery aspect of this. I wouldn’t say the coziness is found in food or atmosphere/setting in the book but more on the overall feel you have reading it.

This book has me laughing quite often throughout which was a huge plus. I am looking forward to hopefully reading the next book once it comes out!

This is such a cute and cozy series!! I definitely got Thursday Murder Club vibes.
Emily is settling into the detective agency when a case comes in for a missing ghost - yes Ruth has lost her husband’s ghost. Emily is on the case…and discovers there is so much more to it than she expected - even a murder!

There is great banter and quirky characters…but also a deeper story here about a widow who is about to lose more than her husband’s ghost. In between the chaos and shenanigans are characters that care and I love how come through for each other…at least in one way or another!

No spoilers but the agency comes through…but Emily is left with a decision to make…I am excited for the next book!

This is my third visit to the Redemption Detective Agency and its office manager. After what I felt was a misstep with the previous book, THE MYSTERIOUS CASE OF THE MISSING GHOST started strong and stayed strong.

I admit a big draw of this series for me is the interpersonal relationships between Emily and Nick, Aunt Tilde, and Mildred (and Scout too!). The mystery this time — a long-dead husband who moves on after a disagreement with his widowed wife — adds to the weirdness factor of Redemption, Wisconsin, a place where there is a higher-than-average rate of missing persons.

A part of me that was hoping for a different resolution regarding the missing ghost, but I found myself very satisfied with the end of the story. The story itself read like a crime drama, a plus for me.

A recommended read.

I received an advance reader copy from the author through BookSirens, for which I thank them. All opinions are mine.

When Ruth lost her ghost, it was only natural that she call the Redemption Detective Agency. Lead detective, Aunt Tilde, is Ruth's friend, so it was not unexpected that she would insist they take the case, leaving Emily Hildebrandt with the headache of tracking down a wayward spirit.

This third book in the Redemption Detective Agency series is set in the 1990s and is a spin-off from the fabulous Charlie Kingsley series. The story could be read out of order and does neatly wrap itself up, but trust me when I tell you, the stories flow. Reading them chronologically will give a stronger sense of the landscape.

The crew at the Redemption Detective Agency is out in full force. Bank on the usual antics of the quirky ladies who take on Redemption's oddball crimes. And, enjoy Emily's befuddlement as she tries to solve a crime and keep her elderly partners in line. This is such a marvellous series, filled with laughter and tenderness; this entry is a pure delight.

I happily recommend both the series and The Mysterious Case of the Missing Ghost.

Thank you to Michele Pariza Wacek and BookSirens for the opportunity to view this digital ARC. As always, my opinions are my own, honest and true.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

Redemption, Wisconsin, is not your typical small town. Back in 1888, every adult disappeared, leaving all the children behind. No explanation was ever determined, and none of the missing ever returned. Fast forward to the 1990s, things still go missing, this time, The Redemption Detective Agency has been asked to find a missing ghost.

Emily thinks the agency finally has a real case when Tilde’s friend, Ruth Jonasburg, calls to ask for help finding her missing husband, Hank. It is only when she, Mildred, and Tilde arrive at Ruth’s home that she learns Ruth’s husband died 10 years ago under questionable circumstances. Ruth believes her husband’s ghost has been with her in their home until they recently had an argument. She hasn’t felt his presence since. While there, they also learn about a huge problem Ruth is not fully aware of.

So it’s all hands on deck to investigate Hank’s death, what happened to his ghost, and try to get Ruth out of a troubling situation while getting answers on how she got into the situation in the first place.

Aunt Tilde is a retired nurse who thought opening a detective agency with no training or experience would be fun. Mildred, a retired teacher, jumped at the chance to join Tilde in her new endeavor. Nora owns a local used bookstore and is ready to help on every case. Emily is the senior citizen wrangler of the group and the only paid employee of the agency. The woman has the patience of a saint. Tilde is ready to take on every case, no matter how crazy. Mildred automatically jumps to conclusions before she even knows what the case entails. Tilde tries fruitlessly, tries to reason with her. Nora was not present at the start of the case but was fully invested, along with her ill-tempered cat, Smoke, as soon as she learned about the case. And poor Emily, trying so hard to deal with it all. The interactions and dialogues are laugh-out-loud funny.

Of course, Tilde brings in Nick Stewart, the agency’s unofficial lawyer. You can cut the romantic tension between him and Emily with a knife, even though they are both dating other people.

Ruth is a very tender character who lost the love of her life. She was comforted by Hank’s ghost, not only watching over her but also the belief that he was in the house and sending her messages. Sadly, like too many senior widows and widowers these days, there are people out there taking advantage of them in horrible and cruel ways. The motto of The Redemption Detective Agency is “Solving the unsolvable”. I was heartened that while finding a missing ghost would be unsolvable, there were other things that the agency could solve for Ruth.

The Mysterious Case of the Missing Ghost was a wonderfully entertaining read. I started reading and didn’t stop until I flipped the final page. The senior sleuths are a hoot and a half, especially when they bring their pets, Scout and Smoke, along on their investigations. Be prepared to laugh out loud a lot while Emily tries to control the chaos and follow the clues to solve the mystery.

Emily’s life is in flux at the story’s end, making me wish Book 4 would be released soon, but The Mysterious Case of the Missing House won’t be released until August 18, 2026. Waiting will be so hard 🙂

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC.

I thought Emily had her work cut out for her in the last book with the case of the missing dog that didn’t actually exist (or did it?). But the mystery that the Redemption Detective Agency is tasked with solving in this book is hands-down the winner for ‘how are we going to do this exactly’ puzzlement. A brokenhearted wife whose husband is missing… sounds like it’s going to be straightforward enough, right? Emily thinks so too, but then why are her Aunt Tilde and Mildred giving each other odd looks? Let’s just say that it’s titled The Mysterious Case of the Missing Ghost for a reason. And, as I expected, Tilde and Mildred and Nora continue to turn every conversation and hunt for clues into hilarious chaos and giggle-inducing mayhem. At least I was giggling. Emily was evaluating her life choices. But that just made it even funnier to me because the author excels at perfectly capturing Emily’s desperate (and increasingly more unhinged) attempt to keep up with the trio’s trains of thought.

Not funny, however, was sweet Ruth – the woman who hired them to find her late husband’s ghost after he supposedly left the house. Okay, she was a little funny too but oh my heart went out to her as thirty-something Emily and her senior citizen crew quickly discover there’s so much more at stake here. I wanted to reach inside and hug Ruth more than once… and purse whomp another character while I was at it. The deeper the detectives dig (and please know I’m using ‘detectives’ fondly but quite loosely), the more layers there are to the story, and while they might or might not be able to find Hank’s … uh… ghost, maybe they can at least figure out the years-old mystery behind his death in the first place. I really enjoyed the different directions this case took them, even the ones that devolved into endearing insanity, courtesy of Tilda, Mildred, Nora and yes, Ruth too. The author’s clever plotting kept my mind whirring with the possibilities and invested in the outcome. Speaking of invested… I am even more solidly rooting for Nick and Emily to act on their obvious feelings for one another. (Can I beg for book 4 to be released sooner than its current August 2026 date please??)

Bottom Line: The Mysterious Case of the Missing Ghost by Michele Pariza Wacek delivers an entertaining mystery that’s both laugh-out-loud funny and unexpectedly touching. The Redemption Detective Agency may be unconventional at best, but their antics only heighten the charm while the deeper layers of the case keep the pages turning. Add in Emily’s hilarious struggles to stay sane, Ruth’s tender plight, and the slow-burn sparks between Emily and Nick, and you’ve got a delightful read. One that’s perfect for fans of Jann Franklin, Jen Turano, Jodi Allen Brice, and even Sarah Addison Allen.

THE MYSTERIOUS CASE OF THE MISSING GHOST
By Michele Pariza Wacek
The Third Redemption Detective Agency Mystery

When Emily Hildebrandt takes the call from a new client for the Redemption Detective Agency she thinks it's a case of missing husband. And it is...sort of. It's just that the missing husband has actually been dead for a decade and it's his ghost that's missing! While Emily is ready to call it quits and even Mildred seems to agree, Aunt Tilde is adamant they help her old friend Ruth and if that means finding a missing ghost, so be it!

Peculiar things happen in Redemption, Wisconsin. A new case for the Redemption Detective Agency starts off as a missing husband then morphs into a missing ghost, a con, and murder! I loved how the mystery progressed from one issue to another with the zany antics of Aunt Tilde, Mildred, and Nora making me shake my head and laugh! The root of the story is a sad one. A grieving widow desperately missing her late husband and being cruelly taken advantage of. Sadly, elder abuse is common and comes in many forms, despicable scams such as the one here are too common. I love how each problem led to a new avenue to investigate and each resulting answer led to a satisfying conclusion.

Emily is the wonderful level headed office manager who does her best to keep things running smoothly at her aunt's detective agency. I love how, even as she tries to reign the others in, she fulfills their requests even as she has her doubts. I wonder what Trisha is scheming and Emily needs to dump Jerome. He's a condescending ass. She's picked up on a few red flags, but she keeps dismissing them. I can't wait for her to finally realize he's a jerk and let him have it before completely walking away.

I absolutely adore this series. The banter, the wacky dialogue that can make your head spin as well as Emily's will have you in stitches. Don't get me started on ghost butts. But at the bottom of it all is the heart. The kindness. Which Emily seems to forget. The ending made me so mad. Not the solution of the mystery, but what happened afterward. I can only hope that Emily will come to her senses and realize what really matters.

THE MYSTERIOUS CASE OF THE MISSING GHOST is a fast paced madcap mystery with heart. You'll find yourself laughing then smiling as the pieces come together. I'm eagerly awaiting the Redemption Detective Agency's next case!

The detectives hit the jackpot for WEIRD when the spirit of a woman’s deceased husband goes missing.

The Mysterious Case of the Missing Ghost is the third book in author Michele Pariza Wacek’s humorous cozy mystery series, the Redemption Detective Agency. This time, the ladies hit the jackpot for weird cases when they agree to find the ghost of an old friend’s deceased husband. But after all, Redemption, Wisconsin, is no stranger to missing people, as early in the town’s history, 1888, all the adults disappeared overnight, leaving only children behind. No explanation was ever discovered, nor were any of the missing individuals. But Aunt Tilde is determined to do better by her friend, Ruth.

The interactions among the elderly sleuths continued to delight as they bantered and argued their way through their latest caseload. And much to Emily’s exasperation, Aunt Tilde enlists the legal aid of Nick Stewart early on. While he tackles a most pressing problem for the widow, Emily is tasked with ghost hunting and solving the cold case murder of Ruth’s husband from ten years ago.

Emily always appears to be the only sane person in the room, even though Aunt Tilde is one smart cookie and Mildred and Nora have their own moments in the sun. Nick shares the same plane of reality as Emily, and the romantic tension between the two is great fun.

The story is fast-moving with the reveal of Ruth Jonasburg’s problems, and the race for resolution takes off immediately. Twists and turns kept my interest high, and I easily completed the story in one smile-filled sitting.

I recommend THE MYSTERIOUS CASE OF THE MISSING GHOST to cozy mystery readers, especially those who have enjoyed the previous novels in the series.

I cannot express how much I love all things Redemption, and this series is no exception. I really enjoy that this author keeps coming back to this place. I think it has endless possibilities, and I hope she keeps going.

This is the third book in the series, and we are once again joined by Emily Hildebrandt, Aunt Tilde and the merry band of misfits inhabiting The Redemption Detective Agency. This time, they are hired to locate a missing ghost. Yes, you read that correctly, a missing ghost.

Aunt Tildes friend Ruth has asked them to locate Hank, her late husband's ghost. It seems he just up and left one day as she heard the door slam and hasn't heard from him since.

Unfortunately, they start to uncover something far more serious. It seems her late husband died under mysterious circumstances decades before. On top of that, a man has been coming around that claims he used to work with her husband; however, it seems that he's only after Ruths money and she might end up losing her house! Now, Emily and the agency are not only tasked with locating a ghost but also saving her house from repossession by the state for unpaid taxes. Can the Redemption Detective Agency pull through and not only find Hank but also save Ruths house?

This is a great series. The characters are well thought out, well written, entertaining and believable. I love the idea of a detective agency that will literally take any case. And of course, let's not forget the location: Redemption. A character all on its own. Thank you, Michele for taking us there once again. I received this book free from Booksirens for an honest review.

The Mysterious Case of the Missing Ghost is the third book of the "Redemption Detective Agency" cozy mystery series by Michele Pariza Wacek. I received an advance review copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Set in Redemption Wisconsin, it is the story of Emily Hildebrandt who after losing her job, car, apartment, fiancé, and all her money, is forced to move in with her eccentric Aunt Tilde and join her aunt’s new Detective Agency. Other members of the Detective Agency are Tilde's friends, a former high school teacher Mildred and a bookstore owner Nora. In this third book of the series, Emily is trying to solve the mystery of a missing ghost/husband of Aunt Tilde’s good friend Ruth. However, there is more to the story, than just a missing ghost, Ruth’s husband was killed under mysterious circumstances, Ruth’s is also in risk of losing her house due to tax foreclosure, and her pension money is gone. The Redemption Detective Agency has a lot to figure out in a short amount of time. There is lots of banter between all the members of the Detective Agency, that causes lots of chaos. As with all cozy mysteries the book has lots of twists and turns. The series also has a backstory love interest/romance between Emily and Nick, that is fraught with misunderstandings and lack of communication. The book solves the case and ends in a way that suggests there are future books planned for this series. If you enjoy easy to read, comical cozy mystery stories, I highly recommend this series and book.

The Mysterious Case of the Missing Ghost by Michele Pariza Wacek is the third book in The Redemption Detective Agency series, but it’s the first I’ve read in this series. I have read some of the Charlie Kingsley mysteries by the author which I enjoyed a lot. This is a spin-off of the series, and you can read each book in both series as stand-alone books though cozies are always fun to read in order. Though I was unfamiliar with the characters, I caught on to their personalities pretty well.

There is a wide variety of characters in this book; some of whom I liked and others bugged me a bit! I loved Emily because she’s very relatable. She reacts exactly how I’d expect to react if one of my aunt’s friends wanted my detective agency to find her husband’s ghost who has gone missing. Emily’s Aunt Tilde might be my favorite character though her clothing choices are questionable! Aunt Tilde’s friend Mildred is a bit brash and blunt, but she adds some comic relief. Ruth, the woman whose husband’s ghost is missing, is a character you’ll feel badly for. She’s conned by a young man who she thought was helping her, but it turns out he was stealing her money! On top of that, she’s convinced that her husband’s ghost has been with her for years, and that he’s left because he is mad at her. I really liked Nick, tolerated Jerome (he’s Emily’s boyfriend but I didn’t get a good read on him in this book), and thought Trisha, Nick’s girlfriend, was a bit of a pain! However, a good cozy mystery needs all sorts of characters to round it out well, and these characters fit the bill.

I thought that the mystery was paced very well, and the plot was entertaining. I like that this series takes place in the 90s. The characters can’t get on their smartphones to look stuff up (or even call anyone on a cell phone for that matter). They’ve got to actually talk to people in real life to figure out who knows what. I enjoyed following the mystery along with the characters, and I always find senior sleuths entertaining! I give this 4.5 stars rounded to 5 because it did leave me with that cozy feeling that I want from a cozy mystery!

I definitely think that cozy mystery fans should give this book a read! If I have time, I’ll go back to read the first two, and you may want to read those first as well. I just think I’d have a better understanding of the characters if I’d read those first. The Mysterious Case of the Missing Ghost is full of entertaining characters, humor, and a well-plotted mystery! I’m looking forward to seeing what case the detective agency takes on next!

Cute

First of all, I lived this series. Its like reading a game of clue with some drama.
Two, I like nick. its just something about him. He isn't broody, he's just easy going but man behind the scenes he gets the job done.
Emily on the other hand, she is ok. She is kinda just there being methodical. She isn't outspoken. Or funny.... Or stern. Just kinda there.

Three... The side characters are annoying me. Nora is coming off as if she's dumb as rocks.
Mildred is annoying me to the point of frustration. Talk about a noisy old.lady that has no boundaries.
Aunt tilde seemed to slightly devolve. She was quirky and scattered brain at times but determined. Now she is easily side tracked and not really contributing like before.
Trisha is dumb as well. Frustrating. I have a feeling she's too g to be an antagonist

The ending seemed a little rushed. Everything was summed up in 2pages. There really isn't an antagonist either. Just chaos.

Lastly, I can't believe I have to wait a year for the final book.
Nick and Emily are frustrating me. And I am not liking Jerome. Lol or in nicks words Jeremiah

Emily Hildebrandt has had some things to investigate but this one takes the biscuit mate. Aunt Tilde’s friend Ruth has missing ghost well strewth he’s already toast as in not alive . So he can’t nosedive any further from existence. But on her instance she owes her a favour so she’ll delve a little further to see what’s appertaining . It’s not just any ghost you understand ,it’s Ruth’s old man who walked out the door ,she may not see him anymore. You see Emily is not just doing a favour because The Redemption Detective Agency ,yes that’s a thing is always sleuthing this sort of thing .How will they pull this one off ,poor old Ruth she does look rough ,it’s taken its toll misplacing this ghoul of hers? Well it’s a travel back in time through the years to uncover what occurred ,how he was killed decades past ,was it by a hired gun or just a random someone . . Whatever happens ,how it turns out ,it’s without a doubt a mystery through the pages of history. Great writing and funnily immersive from the start ,it really is a great story by Michele Pariza Wazek

Simply wonderful! I cannot wait until book four’s release! I absolutely adore this series. Emily is a great heroine. I love how she manages her life, running the agency, and somehow keeps Aunt Tilde, Mildred, and Nora from completely foiling her love life.

The fact the series is set in 1993 brings an air of comfort to the story. There aren’t any cell phones, social media, or any technological advancements that take away from the heart of the story. As alway, Scout, Sherlock, and Smoke add such a great dynamic to the story.

I find myself rooting for Nick and wanting Jeremiah, or is it Jerome (you’ll understand once you’ve read it), to go away. Emily is such a strong willed, intelligent, independent woman; I’m so rooting for her and Nick!

Overall, I highly recommend this series. The mysterious case of the missing ghost is absolutely a wonderful read. It is a perfect read for the spooky season that has begun, though it would be a perfect read anytime of the year.

Do yourself a favor and start reading today!

Happy reading ! 📖

The Redemption Detective Agency books are a great quick read and this one provided a great next chapter in the ongoing lives of Emily, Nick, Aunt Tilde, Mildred, Nora and the rest of the quirky town's characters. This book presents us with a new case about a missing ghost. The story was enjoyable and kept me engaged right to the end. While Emily continues to build self awareness about her post corporate job situation and life, I am hopeful that she will ultimately recognize who and what are really important in her life. While Jerome and Trisha are good dating partners for Emily and Nick, at least on the surface, it will be interesting to see how the couples fare as life and ongoing mysteries continue in Redemption. What does Aunt Tilde really have in mind for Emily?

Thank you to BookSirens and the author for allowing me the opportunity to review another great story from the town of Redemption. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I am an ARC reader and this is my honest opinion. This book is actually rather silly, but with a serious message if a reader is paying attention. I've read book 1 in this series so was familiar with the characters, two of whom are quite bizarre. The Redemption Detective agency consists of Emily, an experienced office manager and accountant, Aunt Tilde and Mildred, ex school marm who remembers all her pupils and treats grown adults as if they were still in her class. Also Nora, Mildred's friend and periphery member. The agency is called in by a sweet old lady who thinks her husband, who died ten years previously, is still living in her house as a ghost, and the man who turned up at her door to "help" her is wonderful. It's a decent story but personally I find the bickering and wild ideas and assumptions made by the elder ladies a bit wearing. Like an American comedy with dotty characters. Funny if that kind of thing tickles you.

The story was very good, and I found the mystery to be interesting. The story was well written, and I am always excited when I see the author has a new book. I figured out part of it, but I was surprised at the end. The characters remain quirky. I have to admit, I tired of their inane conversations at times, though it didn't take away from the story. Recommend reading. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I found the book to be interesting, and the characters remain quirky. Though I did appreciate the humor in the conversations of the older women, it did get boring. I skipped over it when it became too much. I enjoyed the story and the mystery. Some of the mystery I figured out but not all of it. Recommend reading.

This series is so fun and entertaining while still giving you a complicated mystery to try to figure out alongside Emily and the Redemption Detective Agency. As much as I love all the predicaments these ladies get themselves into, for me it's the way Aunt Tilde and Mildred go back and forth with each other while getting completely of the topic leaving Emily baffled. My mom and aunt used to do the same thing when they were together, and these books reminds me of them, and I love that. I wait sometimes not so patiently for each new book in this series as soon as I finish the previous one. I suggest this series if you want an enjoyable trip into Redemption, WI a town that has a history of people just disappearing without a trace along with a cast of characters you won't soon forget. Happy Reading!

Who would help an old woman try to find the missing ghost of her deceased husband? The Redemption Detective Agency, that's who. But then, it's run by eccentric old ladies and the fairly logical niece of one of them. This makes for an entertaining, lighthearted read.

I'm enjoying this series and, though it sometimes veers toward the improbable, my mood is always lifted by the end of the book. The Mysterious Case of the Missing Ghost is no exception. Throw in some (a lot of) missing money as well and plan to read this in one sitting.

I absolutely loved everything about this book! The quirky characters of the Redemption Detective Agency are well-written,each with their own peculiar way of approaching their current case. Which, by the way, is to locate the ghost of an elderly widow’s husband. Piece of cake, right?

You will delight in reading this latest installment of this series. I could just imagine dealing with three elderly women who want to control, or at least direct your life. And they’re not above showing up when you least, expect them.

What a fun ride. Aunt Tilde is so dang sweet, Mildred is so out there, and Emily is in the middle. It is Aunt Tilde's friend who seems to have lost her husband, ie ghost. This is hilarious and also so dang realistic. I feel like all people that are finding themselves alone after many years of togetherness, should read this.

This covers many emotions, and realities, with a happily ever after… almost… or does it. We need the next in the series.

The Mysterious Case of the Missing Ghost is a great story about the Redemption Detective Agency who look into a missing husband but the story has many parts. Emily her sleuthing dog Scout, Aunt Tilde,Mildred, Nora are part of the Detective Agency and assisted by Nick a Lawyer. The threads of this mystery are twisted together. I love how the characters interact.

Excellent story and series that I highly recommend you read.

This was not at all what I expected. It had more depth and dimension than it appears at first glance. Emily's decision to help the neighbors with the cold case of her dead husband who was assumed to be a "john" killed in a back alley!!! Things go much deeper and darker than I expected for a cozy!! This baby has teeth folks. A page turner you'll be glad you picked up. I voluntarily read a free copy of this book provided by book sirens and am giving an honest review.

The Mysterious Case of the Missing Ghost is Book 3 in The Redemption Detective Agency Series by Michele Pariza Wacek. I think this mystery just might be to hard for the agency. Ruth is missing her husband's ghost! Emily and her cohorts have to uncover layers of lies to uncover the truth. I found that this truth will free some and convict some. The mystery is unique and will definitely test your sleuthing ability. I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.

Ghosts, theft, and a widow about to lose her home. A group of women, retired and working, created a detective agency. Their research is very unusual. A lawyer friend works for free to help them solve the case. It gets complicated! Is Hanks ghost missing? Is there a ghost? Who is Bradley? What happened to Jazzy? Will Emily and Nick acknowledge their interests? Everything is resolved in the last few chapters.

A ghostly past.
What a way to start an investigation. I really like Emily and her ragtag gang of seniors. They really throw her into some unique cases with interesting endings. We also follow along in Emily’s life development. A somewhat love triangle. Questioning what she wants. These elements just add to her character and her ever-evolving life. Absolutely continuing this series and maybe even looking into the author’s backlog!

A missing ghost and a home that is being taken by the state prove to be two very puzzling cases to solve for the agency, but when a good friend of the owner experiences the loss of her husband's ghost after 10 years, the agency gets involved. You never know which direction this will take them but it makes this novel fun to read and easy to do from cover to cover. The solutions to the two will really surprise you!! Don't miss out.

I have enjoyed this book, tremendously. I love how much faith Ruth has in her husband's ghost being there, looking after her and how compassionate her friends are in helping her find him again, once she reports him missing, even though they did not believe in him.

A lovely read, shows how a small town community can come together and help each other, even in what appears to be ridiculous situations. Great cast of characters, good read.
