The signs of love aren’t easy to see when you're birthed into darkness …
Marley had a plan.
She’d return to her hometown for the summer and help her adoptive father sell his house. But when the work was done, she’d leave that place—and all the traumatic memories that stole her voice for so many years—in her rearview forever.
Everything was going according to plan, too … until she realized who also returned for a summer visit … her next-door neighbor.
Reid was her first love. Her best friend. Romance was not on her agenda.
The feelings and memories he reawakened in her were overwhelming. Terribly complicated.
Especially since her friend with benefits, Brett, made all other options seem mediocre.
Now, she needs a new plan. One that will help her overcome the ghosts of her past and choose between two very different potential futures.
Unfortunately, no matter what—or who—she chooses, someone will end up broken-hearted.
She can only hope it won’t be her. Again …

This book is a 10 out of 10 in the feels department! Intense childhood drama, results in selective mutism. This results into being bullied at a very young age and then heartbreaking young adolescent high school heartache and continued rejection. Marley is now in college, a young adult and making her way through life and prospering. Circumstances lead her back to her childhood home where all the wounds and memories of trauma erupt. Who will be there for her in the end? Who is going to hold her up and help her thrive or who was going to bring her down with more trauma and manipulation? The ending had my heart and my throat and I almost threw the book! I was feeling some feels…. Let me tell you! Author Davis likes to grip you by the heart and shake a little bit. But that’s OK! This is still a happy ending so it’s all good! Extremely well written and an easy, quick read!
4/5🌟 3/5🌶️ (I read really spicy stuff so this might be a 4 for you)
