I Saw Her Standing There

Rate this book
There’s a budding romance on Butler Mountain, but in the hornets’ nest known as the Abbott family, keeping a secret is no easy feat…

Colton Abbott and Lucy Mulvaney have a secret. Colton’s nosy siblings have begun to put the pieces together, but it’s not like Lucy to keep things from those closest to her—especially her best friend, Cameron, who recently moved to Vermont to live with her true love, Will. But Lucy isn’t about to tell Cam she’s having a fling…with Will’s brother.

Flitting between New York and Vermont is exhausting, so Lucy is looking forward to a long weekend with Colton at the Abbott family lake house in Burlington. Too bad Will and Cameron have the same idea, and once Colton and Lucy are caught red-handed (and red-faced), will their clandestine romance lose its appeal or will their secret beginnings be the start of something lasting?

If you haven’t had a chance to pick up the Green Mountain series by Marie Force you are definitely missing out. It’s one of the most charming and heartwarming small town romance series that I’ve read. I was giddy to dive in again with the Abbott family and all their quirky, but lovable members. Lincoln Abbott, the patriarch, and Elmer, the grandfather have been busy in the last two novels matchmaking and this time Colton, Lincoln’s son, was their target in I Saw Her Standing There.

Colton Abbott is the mountain man of the siblings, running the maple sugaring operation pretty much on his own. He lives without running water and electricity staying close to the family’s original way of producing maple syrup. Colton’s used to a solitary life mostly just on his own with his two dogs, and only coming down once a week for family dinner with the Abbott brood. That is until he catches sight of Lucy, Cameron’s best friend. They live six hours away with Lucy in New York City and Colton in Vermont, but they’ve been stealing every available second together. They’ve spent six lusty weekends together and what’s started off as just a good time has turned into something important to Colton, and he wants more.

Lucy has never felt the way she does about Colton, but she’s scared to go all in with their distance and reluctance to move between them. She can’t imagine the romance ending in anything other than heartbreak so she tries to guard her heart. However, Colton makes it impossible to keep the walls up with his sweet ways, and assurances that they will find a way to make things work. One of the things I enjoy so much about the Green Mountain series is the support and advice these characters get from family and friends. Lucy’s fears were put into perspective by several sources, and she begins to hope for a future with Colton.

Colton was oh-so-charming, sexy as hell, and pretty much insatiable!

“What is the deal with the Abbott men and their magic…wands?”

But he was also incredibly sweet and patient. I just loved him so hard! He cracked me up with his little temper tantrum at the lake house when his plans to have some precious alone time with Lucy were foiled. He’s just so smitten with Lucy and the fact they live so far apart makes him determined to relish every moment he has with her. I dare you not to completely swoon after you read about his visit to Lucy in New York!

I Saw Her Standing There
is the third book in the Green Mountain series and it’s tied for my favorite along with the first in the series All You Need is Love which featured Will, one of the Abbott men, and Cameron. It was a big bonus to get a lot of couple time with Will and Cameron in this installment and to “see” them going strong. Both these couples could barely keep their hands off each other and let me tell you Marie Force knows how to write some sizzling scenes!

The bonus novella, Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, at the end was hilarious and even better than an epilogue, and featured Colton and Lucy, and Will and Cameron going on a backpacking trip. Also at the end was a peek into the next installment, And I Love Her, which will feature Hunter Abbott and Megan. To be honest, Megan didn’t leave the best impression on me before. She was an absolute witch to Cameron, but after this story and reading the teaser, my heart has softened toward her and I hope she opens her eyes to Hunter. He’s pined away for her for so long. Aww…

A great reading day is any day when Marie Force releases a new book! And the third release in her Green Mountain series is no exception.

A reader can always count on an exceptional storyline filled with witty and exhilarating dialogue, lots of laugh-out-loud moments, charming characters and warm family moments. And never doubt, there will always be some of the best and sexiest romance a reader can ever expect to encounter.

Lucy and Colton’s story is an all-around fun-filled story where one sibling is trying - without much luck - to keep a big secret from his large family. And Lucy is equally plagued with her own set of issues. After all, her best friend is engaged to Colton’s brother! And then there’s the little issue with arranging the long-distance hookups. He lives at the top of a mountain and she is a big city girl. Lucy and Colton both have close and loving families and the way they are woven into the storyline with the ongoing interactions between them adds those little extra specials that this author is extremely adept at building into her stories.

Marie Force is my go-to author for romance filled with humor and heart. At the end of every book, I’m sighing with pure pleasure – and hoping the next book is not too far away.

Slow Moving Story with a Troubled Woman and a Guy Who Had Too Many Women at His Disposal! Not My Cuppa!

***Beware Spoilers Below***

This is the final book in this series for me. Loved book one but not two or three.

This book is about Colton and Lucy. There is simply nothing positive I can say. I disliked it greatly!! Here are just a couple of glimpses that troubled me. If you don't want anything spoiled..don't read below.

1. Not until about half way in do we find out that Colton was a semi man-whore who had a string of friends with benefits to visit his mountain home when he was in 'need' and they did not wait to be invited. At the beginning I somewhat thought he wasn't that type of man and was so pleased but I was wrong and then gravely disappointed in him. He had a female visitor while Lucy was there who came knocking for sex and I hated it. Lucy made it sound as though Colton had an injury to his 'package' and she was his nurse...trying to let the other woman know he would not be available to her ever because he was out of commission permanently. The rumor mill had gone rampant in less than a day and about a dozen baskets of food with perfume-filled love notes with lipstick kisses on them were lined up on his porch. Having that many F-buddies must have kept him quite busy and I was immediately disappointed in his character and didn't think too much of him after that. I was so disappointed because I didn't get the impression he was like that. Apparently his F-buddies wanted to come and care for his fictitious wound to his man parts. Again, Lucy was with him when he received all of the baskets lined up on his porch and she was truly, deeply bothered by that...as she should be. It really hurt her and made her distrust their relationship, which was not yet solid at all.

2. I find it difficult to tolerate weak women who are so unsure of themselves and Lucy was one of them. She didn't think she deserved a life of her own because she was so involved in her sister's and niece's life that she felt she had to be there for them 24/7 as well as her father. She even felt that way about her dear friend. No way could she move to be with the man she loved and leave her family and her best friend. Everyone's happiness came before her own and she was willing to live a life without love and happiness because she felt she owed it to them to constantly be there. I think the great need she felt they had for her was so exaggerated. She was so positive they couldn't get along without her. Wow...self importance much? YUCK! GAG!

3. And last but certainly not least. This book dragged on relentlessly. I barely made it through. It never did move at a reasonable pace but I sucked it up and kept going. Wish I would have stopped earlier and could recover the time I spent on this nonsense.

I completely understand that I am one of a handful in the minority.
I cannot in good conscience recommend this book. I am finished with this series. Book one was good...books 2 and 3 IMO not so much. Oh yes, in case you couldn't tell, I am so sick and tired of man-whores that it grates on me. This seems to be the way of every book I read. Is there not a single man out there who can keep his fly zipped unless he is in a relationship?

Marie Force has become one of my favorite go to authors and this series is one of my very favorites. It pulls you right in from the very first page and never lets you go. I devoured I SAW HER STANDING THERE in one sitting and loved every minute of it. I felt like I was up on that mountain with Colton and Lucy trying to figure out life. I could almost smell the pine trees. Their relationship is very new but also very hot. The teasing they do to each other is perfectly delicious. Will they figure out how to be together? Fall in love with the Abbott family as you read Lucy and Colton's story to find out.

Very touching and moving. Marie Force has an easy way to describe things, to show how daily life can be filled with laughter, joy and happiness but also with problems, sorrow and pain. The love of a family, the loyalty of friends, the fun, happiness and a fulfilled life is what Marie Force shows in her novels; at least the ones of her Green Mountain series.
A wonderful novel with lovely characters and things that make you laugh, sigh and that give you some very relaxed reading hours.

This book follows a rather unusual plotline, where the hero and heroine are together from page 1 and throughout most of the novel. I enjoyed their story, but there really wasn't much suspense.

Hmm 3 Didn't love the heroine so much stars!!

Source: eARC & Printed ARC Courtesy of Penguin Publishing

I do adore this series and these beta men, who are gorgeous and sweet although sometimes too sweet. However, these Abbots and there meddling ways are hilarious and with each book you fall more in love with the Abbotts

Here we finally get to find out what the dear sexy mountain man Colton Abbott is hiding from his family and at the same time we get to continue to see the growth of the others, while getting a hint of what is instore for from the other Abbotts.

However, when I read this I had a gamut of emotions throughout.

To start with:

Me about Colton Abbot

Me about Lucy Malvaney

The story is based upon the fact that Lucy lives in NY and Colton lives in Vermont. They fall in love but don't see how they can move forward. Colton holds firm to finding a solution where Lucy holds firm to guarding her heart.

As their relationship continues I got more and more frusrtated with Lucy.

The more she wavered

The way she walked away

The too quick of resolution

Colton's idea of compromise

the ending

I did like this story but I definitely didn't love it as Lucy never wormed her way into my heart. Which was sad for me because that's what lost part of the story for me. All the Abbotts and their partners are fantastic but Lucy not so much. Hopefully, as the series continue and we continue to see the growth of these two, that she'll eventually grow on me. Finger crossed but let's be honest and focus on more important things like, I'm so curious as how Hunter and Megan are going to play out.

3.5 syrupy stars. I love the Abbott family! Colton was total yumminess and the way he treated Lucy was adorable. Rugged and basically the poster boy for true Mountain Man (yes please!) how could Lucy resist him! Colton was always content living in his cabin in the mountain running the family syrup business, that is until he met Lucy.

Oh Lucy….she started out so endearing and funny but somewhere along the way it was like she was hit with the stupid stick because she became whiny and wishy-washy. As the relationship between Colton and Lucy moved from 'just fun' into something more serious her unwillingness to try and make things work with Colton became annoying. It felt like the story stalled because Lucy's insecurity just kept going in circles. For me, what started as a sweet story turned into unnecessary angst. Someone needed to slip a XANAX into her coffee!

I loved once again having Lincoln And Elmer meddling in everyone's business. Definitely made for some very funny moments. Hannah and Nolan's wedding was definitely worth a kleenex and their surprise announcement was just icing on the cake. I can't wait to get the stories for the rest of the siblings. Hunter and Megan's story no doubt is going to be full of emotion. YAY!

Shout out to Fred!!

Loved it.

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Colton Abbot. I swear I was not interested in him at all. In the previous books he just seemed weird and a recluse out there alone in the mountain. But he ended up being a hot, funny and caring man. Who would have thought? And Lucy was a truly complex heroine, with many multiple facets. I had a great time with this read. I really got to care about all the characters, which is something that makes me appreciate an author like Marie Force. 10 siblings... I'm just so excited about the rest of the books ahead. I truly wanna read each and every of their stories. The Abbot family is one you will want to read about. Everything we discover and everything we read about them is interesting and funny.

Can't wait for the next book. Although I truly don't like Megan at all, I hope we get to see another side of her soon.
