Normally her books don’t rub me the wrong way—at all. But this one did! The two stories sort of dragged on, and I wasn’t a huge fan of the characters! I thought the plots were interesting, but could have been a bit more concise. I love her writing though, and she is such a fabulous author and storyteller. Just not a huge fan of this specific book.
What's there not to love about this author. Not one book has she written and that I have read did I find disappointment.
I was just actually reading in Reader's Digest about one of her son's who is a principal here in Washington state and the moment he realized and understood his mother was a writer he was in third grade.
1st story was great, loved the relationship of the 3 women, all different but were such great friends. I don't think I could / would marry a cop. Glad they figured it all out. 2nd story - Wow, I truly did not think they would ever get back together. The time wasted, the parents, the lack of communication. Wow, just wow.
I have to say not my favorite stories that Debbie has done. However, I did like them. I just have a hard time with successful women changing and becoming housewives, It just doesn't make sence to me. Anyway, Love her stories!
The Trouble with Caasi What the fuck.. they argued all the freaking time. And I didn't relate to her baby fever.. whatever. 2 stars
Reflections of Yesterday Umm what!? Clay had no more objections once he was told the 10k was paid off. He called his daughter a whore. Several. Fucking. Times. And she forgave him. 2 stars
This was a 2-in-1 book. The first story was "The Trouble With Caasi" about a hotel CEO named after her father Isaac. He right hand man resigns and she and he have many conflicts.
The second story was "Reflections of Yesterday". Angie Robinson is in love at 17 with Simon Canfield. They live on opposite sides of the social scale. As an adult she lives with her father in a different town and is the owner of a successful flower shop.
Both stories are good light reading about some good people who've made a wrong choice and now are trying to rectify things. More of Debbie's moralistic romances. There is some truth in all of them and there is always a happy ending.
1985 The Trouble with Cassi : 5Star : totally enjoyed. Enjoyed the flow of the writing... - at times Blake's behaviour irritated me : the mean things he'd do and how bossy he was to Caasi" ... yes..found him a bit mean at times... then in the end... just ended up being a frustrated man in love... but Caasi was not a mind reader either. "Together Again": I just started browsing the book from my bookshelf... then couldn't put it down .
1986 Reflections of Yesterday : on page 234... Debbie Macomber's writing flows so smoothly in Together Again. Love reading her early books. :-)
This is a two story for one book. The Trouble with Caasi is the story of Cassi Crane the CEO of a hotel chain on the West coast. Her right hand man Blake Sherrill has handed in his resignation. She doesn't want to loose him. In her trying to keep him in the job she sees him in a new and personal way. The Reflections of Yesterday take us back to when Simon Canfield and Angie Robinson are in their teens and head over heels in love with each other. The parents find a way to get Angie and her father to leave town. Now years later, Angie comes back to town and finds that her feelings for Simon haven't changed, and neither have his. They were both nice little romance stories.
The first story was painful. The characters weren't developed enough for that storyline. It was only 187 pages do I guess that's what to expect. The second story was more entertaining. But Debbie Macomber wouldn't have stories but for the stupidest and weakest women. They sll need yo be in the couch. Reflections of yesterday... She was weak and her father was selfish and abusive. And the writer dare says her father was that way because of love?

This is the first book I have read by this author and I was not impressed. I found the two stories very ordinary and a little boring but the copyright dates were in the 1980's so these were probably written at the beginning of Ms. Macomer's career. I cannot reccomend this book, I think that this is for the author's fans only.
