Samantha Lilly is in a long-term relationship… with her vibrator. She can’t handle a serious commitment, but casual affairs don’t do it for her either. So she’s resigned herself to being alone.
Her call-girl roommate Jeanine has other ideas. She persuades Samantha to take her place for one night with Dylan Krause, an incredibly hot prospective client recovering from a messy divorce. She says it’ll be good for Samantha to be with someone without her usual expectations and complications.

But after that one amazing night, Samantha flees. This feels too real for her. And yet she can’t forget Dylan, even though she tries.
Then one day, he walks into the architecture firm where she works. Seeing him threatens to destroy the careful walls she’s built around her heart—and this time she can’t run away.
4 What You See Is Not What You Think You're Getting Stars * * * *
Sex.. we all want it... we even need it... but in order to get it... sometimes other things get in the way. Like feelings or caring or even loving.... and all those extras that can happen when having sex?... Those things are RISKY... those things can cause you to hurt, feel loss and that is not going to happen to our main character, Samantha.
Nope, Samantha has learned those lessons and she is not going to have a repeat experience. Because her education in loving and caring included her Father dying; leaving a Mother so lost without him... she couldn't go on. Her graduate course in hurt and pain was taught by her grandparents "taking" her in and then dying as well. No, Samantha has carved out a life with a career path of Architecture; she is doing well and making her mark on the little projects she has done. She understands how hard it is to work in a male dominated field and has held fast to the no dating rule. She is not looking to be accused of advancement due to looks or anything else. She is sticking to her plan of no dating and just using B.O.B.
Because people are messy... they want to talk to you; learn about who you are... then they get all touchy-feely after and want to meet again.... gahhh, no ... no people... too much trouble.
Samantha's roommate doesn't mind people at all. She is studying to be a psychologist and in order to pay for all of it, she works as a very high class call girl. She has been doing it for a while and has a referral system clientele. She has been watching and looking out for Samantha as they are close... and she is concerned. We see them talking after Samantha comes home from work... and her roommate is sick as a dog... she cannot meet up with a new hot big bucked client... she begs Samantha to Please take him and it is really everything she wants...no real talking; no expectations of a relationship... just pure-hot-need-to-have-it sex.... Somehow it is a mental perfect storm... because when looking at the man who she would meet... little twinges start... he is gorgeous... and she is needy... and so what the hell...she will do it.
She gets all dolled up and goes as Saffron to the man's apartment. Dylan opens the door and he is just if not more handsome than his photo. "Saffron" is nervous... but we hear her self-talk and before she knows it... a swagger and tease is happening and she is in the moment... Dylan sees something in her eyes... a pain and sorrow... he also see something else but is not quite sure what to make of it...
As the "date" progresses... and Saffron is getting busy taking Dylan to where they need to go... the bedroom... the phone keeps buzzing and blowing up... Finally she suggests he get it. Turns out from the conversation she can hear... it is his ex...being needy. Dylan wants to just end the calls and finally Saffron takes the phone, tells the ex she has his cock now and to fuck off. This leads to where both need to be... and it was a connecting neither of them thought possible. She saw stars and spoke in tongues. He was so giving and patient, when he exploded, he lost all sense of time and place... only the warmth and goodness of her. Because Saffron experienced Dylan's embarrassment in him telling of his ex and her cheating on him... she felt it only fair to share a little about herself when he asked. After all she will never see him again....
Dylan, though, is smitten... he wants to see her. He offers another date- she says no- sick. He tries over and over again to the point there are no more excuses she can give. Finally she stops responding to the emails. After six months, she is in her office and thinks she is hallucinating... she hears Dylan's voice... and ends up being introduced to him as the huge influential client her boss has been wooing.
No, No, No, this cannot be....well it is... and both play the "how do you do" game in front of her boss... but after the niceties have happened... she drags him into another private office to set him straight...at least that is what her mind thought... what happens next... is one for the sex in an office hall of fame.
This book tackles a lot of personal issues which can make us confused as people; early death of parents, suicide, cold care-taking, cheating partners and the feeling like you just cannot deal with any more pain. The way Samantha must come to terms with what she is missing by not risking is a hard path... she has to open herself up to actually feeling for someone. The good news, it is Dylan... he has his own issues... but in the grand scheme of life... he is a winner for her.
I enjoyed the read... I was going to give it 3.5 stars... but once I started remembering all of the yummy scenes of them together... hot and heavy plus the humanity of the story... I had to do the right thing and give a solid 4 stars... well done, Talia Quinn, well done.

Sex in the City meets Fifty Shades. What could go wrong when a woman fills in for her call girl roommate? Ooh boy…can you say, dysfunctional? Samantha and Dylan are both…very heavily so yet they manage to develop feelings for each other. I had a hard time reconciling the hard core “just sex” vibe with the suggested romantic overlay. Could not connect to either main characters nor to any of the supporting ones. Sex scenes were definitely hot though.

Call Me Saffron is the first book in the Greenpoint Pleasures series by Talia Quinn. This one was novella length at approximately 140 pages, and was a good quick read. I really liked the characters, and the story was easy to get into. Call Me Saffron was also my first read by Talia Quinn, but I enjoyed it so much that it won't be my last.
Samantha Lilly doesn't do love or relationships, and for the past two years she hasn't even done one night stands or casual sex. But when her call-girl roommate sets her up with a hot client of hers for the night, she ends up going because she thinks that her roommate is sick and needs help. She meets Dylan the client, and they hit it off right away. Things are intense between them, and soon they are getting closer than she had expected. She leaves the next morning and decides that because of how she was feeling she should stay away, even after he makes several attempts to contact her. Several months later, he walks into her office though and she is forced to talk to him. Dylan is hurt at the way she ended things, but the feelings and attraction are still there between them. Dylan sets out to bring down the walls that Samantha has put up, but will he be able to convince her to give love a chance?
I liked Dylan and Samantha. They both had some issues, and they both handled things poorly at different times. Dylan was sexy and sweet at times, and he was determined when it came to Samantha. But he also would say and do things sometimes that pushed Samantha away even more. I liked that he was just as hung up on her though as she was on him even though she wouldn't ever admit it. Samantha was stubborn and she was vulnerable from losing her parents and feeling like she couldn't let anyone in and lose them also. She tended to run when things got at all emotional or deep, and that was very apparent when she was around Dylan. But they had really strong chemistry, and a connection that they didn't have with others. Samantha brought Dylan back after his painful divorce and the betrayal of his wife, and Dylan did the same for her after losing her grandfather. They were great for each other, and I really liked them together.
Overall, I thought that this was a great novella length story. It was sweet and sexy, and I thought that Dylan and Samantha were really hot together. Some of the push and pull got a bit too much at times, and I kept hoping that they would just stop sniping at each other a few times. They would do or say mean or hurtful things, and sometimes it just didn't seem necessary. But I kept reading because I liked them both and knew that they had to figure things out eventually. This was a good quick read, and I can't wait to read more from Talia Quinn. I would recommend this to contemporary fans looking something short and sexy with an HEA that leaves your heart happy.
4 stars Hotness factor: Oh ye of little faith… (me
Hot stranger, check. Fun & sassy women, check. Toe curling s.e.x., check, check, check… Samantha Saffron Lily of the three first names became a call-girl for a night to recently separated Dylan Krause. After giving him the night of his life (luck boy!), she disappeared only to have him showing up at her real workplace months later. Awkward… Why did I like the premise? Because I’ve been living in London and Paris where prostitution is legal and not that taboo. I wanted to see how it would be handled in this book. It was handled beautifully. I really enjoyed the story. Dylan is charming, with a mix of innocence and something that no woman can resist: honesty, sex appeal and authenticity. I would have liked to have a few scenes with his point of view. I tend to root for the men in these books, the women always seem the same but Samantha was different from what I expected, her issues were realistic and deep. Will she and Dylan be able to overcome them? That’s the feeling the book left me with. I recommend this nice tale to anyone and everyone. I RECEIVED AN ARC IN EXCHANGE OF THE HONEST REVIEW
It sounded interesting but when I started reading it, I got lost. While this book had the HEA I didn't care for the story line. There was no warmth. It was basically a man calls for a call girl but the roommate goes in substitute. They have great sex and the so called call girl leaves the next morning without saying bye and both parties are miserable for the next 6 months till they see each other accidentally at the architect office where the so called call girl work. I wished for something more with the story. They both gave up to easily on each other when they meet again. Instead of trying to see if they have a connection they decide to be friends/co-workers until Sam decided that she loves Dylan.
"Are you saying you forgot me after that night? Are you saying you didn't feel it too?"
Best part of this book is Dylan. I could read about him all day. As a matter of fact, the only thing missing from this wonderful story was his pov. I really, really wish we'd had it. Dylan is pretty much perfect in every way. He's everything you would want in a book boyfriend. I envy Samantha for finding such a fantastic man. I actually laughed when she accused him of being a romantic. I mean, it was so obvious from almost the very start. And it was also easy to see how much and how quickly he began to care about her.
Samantha was a broken, stubborn woman. I felt bad for her. And while I could understand why she was so cautious and guarding her heart, I sometimes wanted to shake some sense into her. I was totally on Jeanie's side. What a fortunate woman she is to have a friend like her and to find a man like Dylan.
I'm not sure why this book is listed as erotic. It's actually a straight up romance, start to finish. Yes, there are sex scenes. They are beautifully written and romantic while still hot and steamy. Dylan and Samantha had instant chemistry and that never faltered throughout the book. Watching these two fall in love was beautiful and everything I want in a good romance novel. It's my first by this author but will not be my last. And since it's part of a series I hope to see both Samantha and Dylan again.
Seeing him threatens to destroy the careful walls she’s built around her heart—and this time she can’t run away. WOW! I was blown away by this book. The characters were complex and came to life in front of my eyes. I LOVE Samantha aka Saffron and all her craziness and heartbreak. Dylan is a amazing complex character. I could read about this couple all day, in fact I kept preying that the book wouldn’t end. I am defiantly a fan of the Greenpoint Pleasure series now.
So we begin this book with Samantha turning down a date with Randy the hunk from her office. Why? you ask. Well its because Samantha doesn’t date, but she misses sex. When she get’s some to her apartment, she finds her room mate Jeanine sick in bed. Jeanine is a high priced call girl and tonight she has a new client, a client that she doesn’t want to cancel…so she convinces Samantha to do it in her stead. I don’t want to spoil it for you, so I won’t go any further.
This amazing book has literally made me giggle and laugh all weekend, so for that reason alone it earns a 10 out of 10. But it made the Brit Nanny Reads Best Books of 2014 for being a well written, inspired romance book with a twist that you all must read.
As I was giving some thought to constructing a review for this quirky romance, this quote came to mind:
Samantha Lilly is a chica with some serious issues, that are simply a matter of being afraid of being connected. After having lost her parents and grandparents to premature death, old age, and suicide, one can definitely understand why she has chosen to avoid risking a relationship with someone who just may leave her.
While I did enjoy reading this book, it did move a little slow for me, but other than that, it was a fairly good book. To me, the characters of Samantha and Dylan were touchable, and the sex scenes were very ... inspiring.
Ms. Quinn has piqued my interest regarding her other books, so in the meantime, while I'm waiting for the next installment in this series, I'll be checking out her other published works as well...
Giving this one: 3 solid stars.

There is a lot to appreciate with the realism in Samantha and Dylan's characterization, but did ultimately become a bit less memorable. I reread this because how could I give it a 4/5 but not remember the second half at all? Rereading answered that question.
The realism in Samantha's issues held back the romance development a bit, in favor of her character development for a while. I believe in the beginning she's a bit depressed. She couldn't functionally get into romantic headspaces and her roommate even said she needed to resolve her trauma and loneliness with some therapy. Dylan was definitely intense like the book described him upon his introduction. But ultimately I don't feel like I really know him either, or that he's pretty milquetoast besides being intense and the perfect patient lover for Samantha. I do always appreciate when it's the woman in these straight romances with the baggage that puts the relationship on hiatus, it often feels like writers love to write opaque male leads with the vulnerable female lead pursuing them emotionally.
It's also one of those books that points out every character when they're nonwhite, so white is the default? Either way I appreciate the ambiguity with Dylan and Samantha's background, always nice when they're not repeatedly thrown in your face how pale or blue-eyed someone is.
Talia Quinn's writing is smart, gripping and so very authentically New York, you feel like you've taken a trip to the city. It totally tugged at my heart and I couldn't stop once I'd started.
Samantha has issues committing to relationships but her reasons are deeply seeded and like so many women today she's chosen not to lose herself to love and instead fills her life with her career and a wonderfully real sisterhood of friends. Until the incredibly hot Dylan comes along and in a completely unexpected and delightfully written encounter she finds that he might be worth the risk of doing the work to deal with all those previously untouchable painful issues. Which of course is easier said than done.
Being an architect myself, I loved the little details like Samantha rearranging people's homes in her head. I do that all the time and I could totally relate.
Oh and no review would be complete without mentioning Samantha's group of girlfriends. Their interactions were warm, funny and so real you want them never to leave. Which is rare for me with fringe and secondary characters.

If your looking for a quick sexy read then this is the book for you. Samantha has a roommate, Jeanine, who is a call girl and cannot make her appointment with Dylan so she asks her to please help her out and make the appointment so he is not disappointed. When Samantha gets there so takes on the persona of "Saffron" and things get pretty hot between the two of them, except for his pesty ex and her constant phone calls. Dylan is going through a separation after his ex wife cheated on him with his best friend and he needs this "appointment" to help with the moving on process. There are a lot of funny things that happen between these two when the finally see one another again several months later in her office, where of course her name is no longer Saffron. There is a HEA at the end of the book that makes your heart happy. Thank you so much for the opportunity to get a sneak peak at this book and I enjoyed the story that was told and the hot sex scenes.
4 1/2 stars What a fantastic book! I loved the whole thing from start to finish and couldn't put it down. I enjoyed the way that Samantha/Saffron was set up by her roommate. I liked that Samantha wanted Dylan long after she left him that night, and how he showed up at her work. Dylan has just come out of a messy divorce and the last thing he was expecting was Samantha/Saffron when he hired an escort. He certainly didn't expect to develop feelings for her, and to have her reject his every move. Dylan and Samantha connected on a level that Samantha isn't used to connecting with anyone on. She's used to being alone, and not feeling things for anyone. The chemistry between them is electric, and not to be denied. Slowly, Samantha and Dylan build their friendship to something more. I loved the creativity in this story line, because usually it's the guy who doesn't do relationships. Kudos to Talia for making this a great book with great characters and building their relationships in a realistic fashion. I'm looking forward to more from this series and this author.
Note: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I was REALLY not sure how I was going to feel about this story in the beginning. The idea that the two main characters meet under the guise of Samantha being a prostitute seemed a bit strange to me as this is not generally how a typical romance starts out. That being said, I actually enjoyed this book quite a bit! Dylan was hot and I loved the scene at Samantha's office when Dylan spots her for the first time in months after pursuing her like crazy. The character development was intriguing, they had no problem keeping my interest and the love scenes were HOT! All in all, this was a quick and easy read and I'd recommend it to anyone 18+ years old.
This was a new author for me and I must say I enjoyed reading this book. It wasn't exactly what I thought it was gonna be, I guess I thought it was going to be like all the other New Adult books out there. And I guess in a way it was; there was the necessary first person POV, the problem of committing, the man that makes everything suddenly make sense, and the slutty friend. The couple is a little older then in NA (well, Dylan is at least). All that being said, I did enjoy the relationship between the two, Dylan and Samantha, and the fact that it was built up and not insta-love. Not sure if I'll read the next book in the series or not yet. Guess I'll just have to read the blurb first.
I was given this book for an honest review. This is the first book in the Greenpoint Series. Samantha Lilly only does relationships with her vibrator. She just can't do the serious thing. Casual affairs are not her cup of tea either. Jeanine, her call girl roommate, has other things in mind. She persuades Samantha to take her place one night with Dylan Krause. Dylan Krause is an incredibly hot prospective client, who is recovering from a messy divorce.
This was a really sweet treat. Great characters and very emotional. It is flirty and fun too. I can't wait to read more by this author. Short read but worth it!
I really enjoyed this book, it was a fun read, and hot. The author brought out each character to their potential.
Samantha Lilly doesn't want or need a relationship. She has been doing great with her B.O.B. Her roommate is a escort and was sick one night and asked Samantha to fill in for her, saying she needs the real thing, and why not with the very goo looking man named Dylan Krause. After some time thinking, Samantha agrees to it and then they have one night that they both will never forget.
Then one day at work, Samantha runs into Dylan, and boy oh boy it gets hot and awkward that the same time.
I wasn't sure about a story with a call girl who falls in love with a client -- it sounded like it could be a lot of superficial sex -- but Talia Surova is an excellent writer (I enjoyed her other books) and I knew she would do a great job with this premise. And she didn't disappoint. Call Me Saffron was smart, sexy, fun, relatable, and -- best of all -- emotional. The characters were well-drawn and likeable, and I really cared about both Samantha and Dylan, rooting for them all the way through to the end. I actually didn't want the story to end. (I particularly loved Dylan and could have read about him all day!) I look forward to more Greenpoint Pleasures books.
I did like this book, but was not totally enthralled with it. I sometimes have a hard time with the blurred lines of romance smuttiness. I felt this one kind of tilted the scales a bit more than I liked. That being said, I enjoyed the story in itself. I enjoyed the character development and their growth. I really have to admit that I do not enjoy reading all the nitty gritty details of romantic encounters - a little left to the imagination is better (in my opinion). Overall though a 3 star book - well written and again, liked the characters.
Really good story and I truly enjoyed Talia Quinn's writing style, I actually went and bought her other releases from the previous series. Definitely one to watch.
I thought the chemistry between the hero and heroine was set a flame the moment they caught eyes, and things just burned hot once they saw each other again. I love the instant emotional connection, like they both knew they had found something REAL, but Samantha had a whole bunch of issues with that!
Quick, Attention Grabbing Novella!! So worth the time!
I couldn't put this book down. Samantha and Dylan are fascinating characters filled with painful pasts that they've carried into the present. I fell in love with them immediately and couldn't wait for them to fall in love with each other. Their sexual chemistry was off-the-charts hot, but this story doesn't stop there. With an intriguing cast of friends, co-workers and family (and the contrasting settings of Brooklyn and Manhattan as well) this story delivers a satisfying read at every turn of the page.
A great and interesting story line. Very sexy and hot but not too too graphic! Not scary or involving stalkers or haters, just a great, very well written love story. You feel the characters realness and vulnerability so much. I read this after reading the 4th book, which I received for free on unlimited. I immediately bough try this one , which I rarely do, as I read so much, (a book or so a day) but this was worth it! I will be reading the rest of these definitely!
Received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review
Set up by her friend, Samantha spends one night pretending to be a call girl and has sex with a devastatingly hot client. It is more than sex for both of them but Samantha ends up running away scared. 6 months later they meet again at Samantha's real job (architect) and sparks fly again.
I'm normally not one for romances written in the 1st person POV but I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Nice, easy, one-sitting read.
I loved Call me Saffron! Here was a premise I thought was going to be some erotic bang up job (excuse the pun), but it wasn't that at all. Oh, it was sexy as all get out, but it was also well-written and thoughtfully explored the internal conflict of both the H&H. And when...well, no spoilers. The story kept me up all night. Enough said. I'm a fan of this newly discovered author.
Love the story. Really respect the hero, he is so patient (the heroine and his crazy ex-wife) and compassionate. The heroine is a sassy and bold but has lots of baggage, but she really did come true. The first meeting btw them is a must read, as but filled with heat and humor. A must read to romance readers. recommended. ARC given by netgalley
This was free and recommended by an author whose writing I like (Cecilia Grant), and it was totally worth it. (Which now sounds like faint praise, but it's not meant that way. I will be looking for the rest of this series, at least.)
It's definitely novella-length, but it still fit a lot of story and emotion and character.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a good book, with a well-developed storyline. I am so glad I discovered this author. The unique style of her writing and the easiness of the reading makes for a good read.
I loved Call Me Saffron. Great characters, great visuals of New York City & true emotional punch--not to mention very sexy. As with her other books, Ms. Quinn has woven a story that both entertains *and* provides profound insight into the nature of relationships, emotion and personal growth.
