Cinder Valley #3

Give Me a Minute

Rate this book
Peyton
Dating my friend's brother is not ideal.
Fake dating him is perhaps the craziest thing I've ever done.
I’ve spent the last year thinking Theo Porter hated me. His brooding blue eyes, constant glares and aloofness whenever we've been in the same room were reason enough for me to believe it. And after his time as a combat medic in the military, who could blame him for being reserved?
If there's one thing my remaining family taught me, it's that I’m not an easy person to like, or even love. After my mom’s death, my dad spent the rest of my childhood making himself a new family, with me as the leftovers from his previous life.
When my dad tells me I’m expected to attend my step brother's wedding, I’m desperate for someone to go with. However, I don’t want to subject any of my friends to my father’s belittling, so I accept that I’ll go alone.
Until Theo unexpectedly offers to play a convenient part.

Theo
I'm determined to prove to Peyton that she’s deserving of love, and I'll do anything to help her realize it. Even offer myself up to play the part of her fake boyfriend to help her with her awful family. After watching her from afar for a year, I’m intrigued by everything about her, so I don’t hesitate at the opportunity to play the part of her fake boyfriend. With her beautiful blue eyes, blonde hair, and curves, I’m all too willing. She's put up walls that make her hard to read, and even harder to reassure her that she isn't an inconvenience; far from it. I can't help the way I'm drawn to her and immediately yearning for something more.

Author’s Note: Give Me A Minute deals with subjects that may be triggering to some, including flashbacks of combat, a scene that depicts the death of a parent by breast cancer, bullying from a step sibling, and feelings of disapproval from a parent/stepparent. There is also a brief mention of an infant death, however it is not shown on page. Please only continue if you feel that you are able to read this book. The last thing I want to do is inadvertently harm someone.

I was an early access reader and I’m so glad I didn’t have to wait longer for the final installment of the Cinder Valley series. This book follows two characters that were introduced in the second book (how do I tell you?), but could be read as a stand alone. However I recommend reading the first two books as the world building and character development throughout the series is magical, yet realistic.

I really enjoyed the growth Peyton and Theo have together, but also individually. Theo is a light for Peyton, showing her that she doesn’t need to take harsh treatment from her family and helping her gain confidence to stick up for herself. This is one of my favorite fake dating scenarios because of the education 😉 that Theo gives. The spice is high and frequent, but the plot is also strong. That’s one of my favorite things about Saylor’s writing, she can give you a plot twist and some of best spice scenes out there. Love a book that can do it all.

Saylor Ann has created a classic love story in the world of Cedar Valley. I’ve been lucky enough to read two of the ARCs for this series and she isn’t disappointing. Peyton and Theo’s love story is full of healing and growing and I am here for it.

The love that grows between these two characters is so profound and will suck the reader in and leave them longing for even more of their story.

I highly recommend picking up this series and giving it a read. Be sure to check trigger warnings just in case. Happy reading!

Minor Spoilers ahead‼️

WOW! If you are looking for a read that will literally have you losing sleep because you cannot tear your eyes away from the pages this is it! I had the honor to be apart of the ARC read for this book although I hadn’t read any of the authors previous books I am surely on the hunt for more. The beginning was so well written I could feel all of Peyton’s emotions & truly visualize the whole scene of her flashback. My heart broke for her at the loss of her mother to cancer as I have lost a parent at a young age too.

This story depicts such raw real emotion on so many things we all can relate to whether it happened to ourselves or someone we love. Without giving away to many spoilers I have fallen in love with Peyton & Theo’s slow burn. They healed each other and created such a beautiful love story that touched my heart. If you’re looking for a beautiful love story this book is for you!!

ARC Review! - When I received this ARC, I had no idea the book was #3 in a series. Best surprise ever as I have fallen completely in love with Cinder Valley and it’s residents! I see a lot of myself and my own insecurities in Peyton and the patience and love Theo continuously provides is exceptional. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read the authors next work!

“She’s so strong, but she just needs someone by her side to help her see it. I can be that someone.”

✨Best friend’s brother
✨Fake dating
✨”Teach me” lessons
✨Ex-military
✨Only one bed
✨Found family

Peyton has grown up feeling unwanted, unloved, and constantly a burden. Peyton moves back to Cinder Valley to be closer with her grandparents, and when she meets her new best friends and their significant others, it takes her a long time to accept their love and friendship. Theo is an ex-military combat medic, and now he has PTSD, terrible nightmares, and is having a hard time adjusting to civilian life.

One day when Sam, Theo’s sister, sets them up on a “blind date”, he decides he wants to get to know her better. As time goes on, Peyton tells Theo that she wants someone to go with her to her step-brothers wedding that she’s being forced to go to. He immediately offers to be her fake boyfriend. Even after the wedding, they decide to keep up the fake relationship, just until after Sam and Owen’s wedding in a few weeks. But lines start to blur, and it’s hard for them not to fall for one another and ignore the clear attraction and tension they have.

I swear, it was like I was reading about myself when reading Peyton’s POV. As someone who struggles with constantly feeling unwanted and a burden, I could understand why she was acting the way she was. It’s hard accepting love from someone when you constantly feel like a burden in people’s company. Theo did everything possible to make her believe that she is truly loved, and has been a part of their crazy family from day one. Slowly but surely, Peyton attempted to ignore the voices in her head and came to accept that she is wanted and loved by many.

This book is the definition of sweet and spicy. Watching Peyton and Theo’s relationship evolve over time was so sweet to watch. Theo is super protective of Peyton. He took her into his apartment after locking herself out of hers, he stood up for her at her stepbrother’s wedding multiple times, and even helped her when she was having an endometriosis flare up.
But when it came down to Theo giving Peyton “lessons”, my oh my, was I blushing. He even takes her to a sex store to help her communicate on what she’s interested in. He’s consistently asking for her consent before trying anything new, and is always reassuring her that she’s safe.

This is probably my longest review of a book to date, but I absolutely loved it. Saylor Ann did an amazing job with this entire series; however, this one is my favorite. I loved the extra epilogues and seeing where everyone ended up years down the road. Peyton and Theo are definitely my favorite couple. I went through so many emotions during this book—sad, happy, anger, anxious, and more.

Huge shoutout to Saylor for the ARC of this wonderful book. Thank you!!

THIS IS FOR YOU!!
* I was sent this book as an eARC, for free in exchange for my honest review! *

Never have I ever read a dedication that brought tears to my eyes so fast!

And then the prologue…. I hardly ever read the prologue of a book.

GOOD GRIEF SAYLOR ANN!

My momma-heart was not ready. I have worked in healthcare for close to 15 years and my heart still was not ready. When I tell you BLUBBERING, I was a blubbering mess. SPOILER- (FMC) Peyton loses someone very important in her life as a young girl.

YOU HAVE TO READ THE PROLOGUE.

Things will make more sense as far as Peyton’s relationship with not only her father but others in the book.

The actual book is set in the present day, as Peyton is grown, a registered nurse working in a birth center in her hometown, which she moved to after saving money once working as a nurse. This is not only her hometown, but also the town her mother grew up in.

Her relationship with her father is rocky; he is a character. He and his family have treated Peyton horribly her entire life. It has affected her in so many ways; feeling that she is not loveable, that she is not worthy of others’ love, that she is trash honestly. When she attends her stepbrother’s wedding, after her father demands she be there; he treats her horribly in front of everyone. Making the comments about her dresses being highly inappropriate, and his speech at the rehearsal dinner made her feel like she and her mother never existed in his life.

Attending the stepbrother from deusceland’s wedding would be easier if she had someone to come with her. She mentions something of the sort to her best friend, Sam. Which is where the story line gets good! Sam is hilarious! She sets up a coffee date for her and Peyton, only Sam doesn’t show up. Sam had also set up a coffee date with her brother Theo, causing them to end up having coffee together, and talking.

Theo had been honorably discharged from the Army a little over a year ago, where he served as a Combat Medic. Theo had fallen in with Sam’s friend group when he came home, so he had known Peyton since then, but always made Peyton feel like he hated her, as he was always glaring at her and hardly ever spoke to her.

Theo quickly convinces Peyton to let him go with her to the wedding as her boyfriend- fake boyfriend. He does a great job of protecting Peyton and playing the part of boyfriend. After the wedding is done, Sam figures out that he and Peyton had been together, that he went to the wedding with her, so she surprises them in their apartment’s parking lot. At that point the fake dating continues.

Theo and Peyton make an agreement that they would continue to fake date until after Sam’s wedding. And during that time he would give her “lessons”; he would also make sure she knows how it feels to be loved and taken care of, not just in the bedroom but as a person more than deserving of love.

MY THOUGHTS

Saylor Ann allowed me to read Give Me a Minute as a free ARC in return for my honest opinion.

I was pleasantly surprised by this author and her writing! I am always a little nervous ARCing for a new-to-me author. But, she did NOT disappoint!

Theo is the ultimate manly man, for me. He is strong, loving, caring and head over heels for Peyton and shows it in all the right ways. The way he is always willing to take care of her, knows when she is freezing up, knows when she needs him. His bond with his sister, mom and dad just show how genuine he is. The main characters- the friend group, Peyton’s grandparents; all so so good!

The only ick I have, and it really isn’t an ick… but one of Theo’s pet names for Peyton, “darling”. It is totally the southern girl in me, but I can’t imagine a man calling me “darling” it sounds so unnatural… now “DARLIN’”- hell yeaaaa. So, in my mind, he was saying “darlin’’’, and Saylor just wrote it in proper English, which honestly, despite what my writing may look like on my posts and blog, I would have, too.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND READING THIS BOOK AND THE ENTIRE SERIES!

So Freaking Good!

Story Rating: 5/5

This was my first trip to Cinder Valley and it was worth it!

This book is a welcomed emotional roller coaster. From opening scene to the very last one, you can't help but want to root for Theo and Peyton. This book is more than a sexy small town romance between a best friend's brother. It is about the power of a chosen family, PTSD, insecurities and love.

Peyton comes from a family related by blood who don't truly see her and don't care to when her world comes crashing down. She moves back to her hometown to feel connection and finds her people and purpose but her father won't let her forget. Theo, her best friend's brother comes to her side and offers unconditional support. They may start off as a fake relationship but when chemistry, passion and understanding come into play, things start to become real.

Both Theo and Peyton deal with insecurities due to their past and help each other through them. Theo helps Peyton realize that she is strong, has support and love from people who matter in her life. Peyton helps Theo realize that he can't live in one event from his life and that he did everything he could have done. The strength that Peyton showed her father towards the end and finally dealing with her emotions about everything that she dealt with and the goodness to come was breathtaking.

I loved the dynamic that every couple brought to the story. I haven't read the other two books in the Cinder Valley universe but I felt like I knew them so well from the small intro that Peyton gave. They bring in a layer of goodness and wholesomeness that made you feel that they were genuinely supporting Theo and Peyton. I loved the growth between characters and connection in this beautiful family.

There were some small typos and the only complain that I have is that it would have been nice if Theo could have check up on Ethan's girlfriend and son, maybe that could have help with his nightmares. But honestly, it's not a big deal.

I can't say this enough, such a great book, with unique characters and a breathtaking story about family and strength with some beautiful smut sprinkled in there. Don't hesitate to take a trip to Cinder Valley and fall in love with these characters.

Where do I begin? Give Me a Minute is the third book in the Cinder Valley series by Saylor Ann.
I was Saylor Ann's Alpha reader for this book and I fell in love with Peyton and Theo the minute I started to read this book! This book will steal your heart the moment you start reading it! I laughed and cried a lot while reading this book! I have never related to one character while reading a book than I did with Peyton. I will read anything that Saylor Ann writes!

Peyton and Theo have gone through so much in their lives. Peyton's mother passed away when she was a little girl and Theo is an ex-military vet with PTSD. Both of their traumatic past affect their daily lives. Peyton's EVIL dad made her feel like she wasn't wanted or that she wasn't good enough. Theo struggles with terrible nightmares. He is having a hard time living that civilian life.

Sam (Theo's sister) who is the resident match maker thinks she can go 3 for 3 in the match making department and she sets up Peyton and Theo. From the very beginning of their friendship, Peyton and Theo had the most incredible chemistry. After needing a date to her EVIL step-brother's wedding, Theo says he will be her fake boyfriend. As times goes on, their fake relationship definitely becomes to a VERY real relationship. I loved the banter between these two. Theo is seriously the perfect boyfriend, I love how protective he was of her, always made sure she felt loved and appreciated. When he tells her to "use her words", I melted! I loved seeing Theo teach Peyton things that she didn't know she liked in the bedroom! The spice was definitely spicing!

I loved the found family troupe in this book! Peyton and her girls are so special and they embrace each other. They always are there for each other in a time of need. Their significate others are just as amazing!

The story was good; it wasn’t the best Romance I’d ever read by any means, but it was sweet, hence my 4-star ⭐️ rating instead of 5. I really liked the male lead, Theo. He was a really sweet guy, very attentive to the female lead, Peyton, and very understanding about what she’s been through in the past (I don’t wanna say too much about what exactly happened ‘cause I don’t wanna spoil it, but it was just horrible). The only thing that I didn’t quite get is why Peyton wanted to be “controlled” in the bedroom when her father was SO controlling in her life. That part didn’t really make much sense to me, but “you do you”, as they say. I’m not judging; I’m just not like that at all personally. And yes, I know it was all consensual & she was “into it” & everything, but still … I DID like that Theo was always checking in & asking if this is what she really wants. That’s the way it should be! 🥰 I also agree with another reviewer that said you can’t really tell from the cover; it IS somewhat misleading in that way. I guess what I’m saying is that I wasn’t really into all the s*x “toys” used & all that … Just not for me; I read through that part really fast to get through it to finish the story! 😅 (Again, not judging you at all if you’re into that.) Also, I found her father’s cruelty a little hard to believe, too, as well as all her step-family’s behavior; it was a bit too “Cinderella-evil-step-sisters/mother” to be really believable to me … I just wanted to kick them all in the you-know-what, just sayin’! 😅 Oh, and another thing I didn’t quite like is the whole chid conversation felt a little rushed at the end. She, Peyton, doesn’t really want to get pregnant because of her medical issues (again, I’m not gonna spoil it for you by telling you what exactly she has) fine, okay, BUT they are SO many ways to start a family now, adoption, surrogacy … If they really wanted kids, why wasn’t any of this ever brought up? To me, it sounded more like the author really just didn’t want the couple to have kids, which is also just fine … I just didn’t know why the author just didn’t say that … Anyway, like I said in the beginning, I liked the story; it had a really sweet, understanding, loving male lead, which I always love! 🥰

This is my first time reading a book written from Saylor Ann, and let me say I was impressed. I enjoyed this book, but I did feel that it should have been a bit spicier for my taste. But after finishing Give Me a Minute it was okay for the amount of spice it had 2/5. I do rate the story 4.5/5. Once I started to read the book I was feeling a bit sad for Peyton FMC on how she was so young when she lost someone so closed to her that loved her so much. Then after on how her father just told she to stop crying and get over it that is time to grow up. SMH!!! Peyton grew up feeling so unwanted, unloved, and like she was a burden to her dad and new family. Only her grandparents from her mother’s side showed her the love she totally deserved, but it was not enough for Peyton since she still felt an emptiness inside. Theo MMC came back from being deployed and suffering a great lost also. This lost made him have nightmares of what had happened wishing that it was him instead. Theo met Peyton through is sister, but there is more to this story that will come out into the light once you are getting closer to the ends of the chapters. Theo has been having a crush on Peyton since he met her, but didn’t know how to approach her. His sister sure set them up in a blind date… Sneaky girl you may say!!! These two MC grow and heal together in this book. I totally recommend this book!

If you have read Saylor Ann’s previous books in the series, you know that Theo and Peyton’s story was coming! And I loved every minute of it. Things to look for in this book:

Best friends brother ✔️
Small town romance ✔️
Fake dating ✔️
Ex-military MMC ✔️
Found family ✔️
Neighbors to lovers ✔️

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice level: 🌶️🌶️
Angst level: 💔💔

When Peyton needs a date to her step-brother’s wedding to placate her father, who is literally an awful human being, Theo volunteers to do it. Peyton and Theo haven’t been able to get close in all of the months since Theo has been home from the military and acclimation to civilian life. But this is the chance for them to finally form a friendship.

But in the end, they form way more than that and I am here for it!!

And when they accidentally (LOL Peyton) continue on with the fake dating, they prove to get closer and closer. All while Sam has been plotting for them to get together. Can our girl Sam go 3 for 3?

This book is filled with so many emotions – happiness, laughs, sadness, and anger (mostly at her father – UGH THIS MAN!!). I loved the sweet moments between Theo and Peyton and how sweet Theo was towards her. And the way that Peyton was there for Theo when he needed her during his nightmares.

This book is so much more than a romance – it is also about how friends can become real family compared to your blood. And that is exactly what Saylor accomplished with this book. The friend group is my favorite part of her books!

We also get one extremely emotional reunion in this book that really had me tearing up. This was done SO well.

I cannot wait for her hockey series next!!!

On our third trip to Cinder Valley, we follow the story of Theo, a former combat medic still readjusting to civilian life, and Peyton, a nurse learning to see past the flawed image her family presented for her since childhood. By the end of this story, I really enjoyed Peyton as a character; it was easy to relate to her feelings of inadequacy (spurred by her jerk of a dad and her atrocious stepfamily) and hesitancy to accept Theo’s love and support.

Found family is one of my favorite tropes, and it’s done so well with the Cinder Valley series. Peyton is not only accepted by her friends and their partners, but also said friends’ parents too. It’s nice to read a story where you do get to see all kinds of families represented, and the reminder that what binds us isn’t always the blood in our veins. I also loved that the story is bookended by two weddings – Peyton’s stepbrother’s, which goes awry, and then Sam and Owen’s, which we’ve all been waiting for since book one. ;)

The beginning of the book was a little hard for me to get into, though – I feel like there was a lot of explanation of what happened in the last two books plus a lot of scene direction. It really picked up for me around Hunter’s wedding and Theo’s offer to pretend to be Peyton’s boyfriend for the weekend. (But of course, it’s never pretend, is it? :D) I was also a fan of how Theo slowly introduced Peyton to more in their relationship, always respecting her boundaries and learning when to push her forward and when to step back.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book. It’s a solid small town romance that gives all the good feelings, with a surprise twist at the end that I didn’t see coming.

Give Me a Minute by Saylor Ann is the third book in the Cinder Valley series and the first book I’ve read by the author. Each book is intertwined and I found can be read as a stand-alone but you definitely meet characters from previous books. Review may contain spoilers…

Overall rating 4/5
Spice 🌶️🌶️

Peyton seems like she’s trying to figure out who she is in life. With the loss of her mother at such a young age and having a rocky relationship with her father (to say the least) spurs constant thoughts of being unwanted/unloved and a burden. Peyton struggles with accepting that she is enough, always ready for the rejection that inevitably comes. Theo is learning to navigate day to day life; as an ex-military combat medic he struggles with PTSD/flashbacks/nightmares but tries to avoid burdening his family with his problems. Both seemingly content with being “alone” in life.

Long story short, a date setup by Peyton’s best friend, and Theo’s sister, turns into a fake wedding date and then a fake relationship. It’s fake so it should be simple, right? WRONG. Peyton and Theo have an undeniable attraction; lines become blurred and feelings are constantly questioned (Theo definitely had an up hill battle💜). It’s amazing to watch their relationship flourish throughout the story.

If you’re looking for a lighthearted, small town romance with some spiceeeee then Give Me a Minute is what you’re looking for!

Give Me A Minute was a great read!!

♡Fake Dating
♡Best Friend's Brother
♡Teach Me How Lessons

Peyton and Theo both have past trauma that affect how they are living. Peyton's mother passed away when she was young, and her father moved on quickly. He moved her away from everyone and everything she knew. Her new step family treats her horrible. Her father acts like she's a burden, only seeking attention and being dramatic. She had a hard time growing up with no love or acceptance from anyone.

Theo did 13 years in the military. He has PTSD from the horrible things he witnessed. He was a combat medic and lost his best friend. It haunts him, knowing he couldn't save him. He has nightmares, and it affects his mental health.

Peyton is good friends with Theo's sister Sam. Sam loves to play matchmaker. She sets them up on a coffee date without their knowledge. They become fast friends, and they have chemistry. They both are trying to hold back. Peyton doesn't believe anyone could ever want or love her. She has a hard time believing her friends love her. Theo is determined to show her how amazing she is.

It's an amazing story about two people who help heal each other and find love!

Theo and Peyton

This was definitely my favorite book in this series. It answered questions I didn’t know I had. It perfectly wrapped every couple’s story, and I loved the flash forward in the bonus epilogue.

Theo was the perfect book boyfriend. Even though he was dealing with his own PTSD, he was always there for Peyton. I loved the way he showed her love. He was determined to make her see her value, and he did it in the most selfless way.

Peyton had a huge story arc. She went from being on the outside of the group to finally accepting that she could trust the friendships she’d built since returning to Cinder Valley. She definitely had some emotional baggage to get through and the little twist thrown in was perfect. I usually get tired of the person in the fake relationship who can’t see that it’s not fake, but that never happened with Peyton. She had so much to understand emotionally that it made sense for her to take a little time to realize what she had with Theo.

I have loved this friend group and their families. All their stories were so different and they blended together so well. I really liked the way everything came together in this book. It felt like a full circle moment.

“Give Me A Minute” was Theo and Peyton’s love story, and the fantastic conclusion to Saylor Ann’s Cinder Valley series. I can’t even begin to express how much I loved this book - it’s definitely my favorite of the series, simply because I related to Peyton’s thoughts, feelings, and actions with all my heart and soul. Theo and Peyton’s relationship was fake at first, but it soon became obvious that their feelings for each other were anything but.

Theo was the absolute swooniest, and I truly thought that everything about him was perfection, because he was the perfect example of the phrase book boyfriends do it better.

And Peyton! Oh, this poor sweet girl. She’s had a hard life, and she struggles with her self esteem and feeling unloved. I was so glad that Theo and their mutual friends were able to eventually show Peyton that sometimes family are the people you choose, not the people you are related to by blood.

Theo and Peyton together were an absolutely brilliant couple; I loved the way he always tried to protect her and take care of her, and I loved the way Peyton was supportive of Theo’s PTSD and how happy she made him. To sum it up, this was an amazing read, and I highly recommend it to fans of small town/best friend’s brother/fake dating romances!!!

I love a great story that just pulls at your heart strings. Give Me a Minute does just that. Theo and Peyton are just fantastic characters. And the chemistry between them runs between sweet and hot. Theo and his “lessons.” As I can my face!

Theo is just the best. Once he realized how Leyton grew up, it was like he made it his mission to make Peyton realize she is important. That she is loved. But most importantly, he is always there when she needs him. He offers to be her “date” at her stepbrother’s wedding and sticks up for her.

Peyton has had such a rough life. Her mom passed away when she was 8. Her dad didn’t let her grieve and took her away from her family and everyone who was important to her. So first chance she gets, she moves back to Cinder Valley.

Now the friends Payton has made are great! When Sam tells Peyton that her brother’s “glaring” is his way of showing interest and then Lainey walks up and says he has a crush just based off his look. So funny!
But the friends she has made have become her family and after some time, Peyton comes to realize that.

I strongly suggest reading this!

A perfect way to finish up the Cinder Valley series!! This group of friends have become one of my absolute favorite comfort-reads. I wasn't sure on Peyton and Theo at first (just because they were newer characters in the series and didn't seem so integrated at first) BUT, dang was I WRONG! Peyton and Theo were everything I didn't realize this group of friends was missing! Theo is a medium-grumpy MMC. He is protective, thoughtful, and caring. He is a retired military veteran that now works as an EMT. Peyton works as a nurse at a Women's Clinic. She is brave, honest, and thoughtful. Saylor Ann does a phenomenal job with writing these real characters and showing their flaws as an opportunity for strength.
From fake-dating, family struggles, and health troubles this book will run you through all the emotions. There are definitely some fantastic spicy scenes as well as a whole lot of chaos (I mean have you met Sam yet?!). The girls nights continue to be wild, the guys continue to be obsessed with their women, and it was an absolutely perfect way to end this series. I couldn't recommend this book and series enough!

Give Me a Minute is book 3 in the Cinder Valley Series by Saylor Ann. This is Theo and Peyton's story.
Theo returned home from a career in the military and is trying to adjust to civilian life and deal with PTSD. He has difficulty sleeping and suffers from nightmares.
Peyton lost her mother at an early age and dealt with a father and step family that was horrible to her. She doesn't know what it's like to feel love, and when her father tells her he expects her to attend her step brothers wedding, she is desperate to find someone to go with. Peyton has inadvertently become a part of the girls' friend group since working with Mallory. Sam, of course, sees more and tries to set her up with Theo, who also happens to be her neighbor.
When Theo hears about the wedding dilemma, he steps up and volunteers to go with her, and the two begin to spend time together. Peyton has never had anyone treat her the way Theo does, and even though the relationship is supposed to be fake, it feels anything but. He defends her to her horrible family and takes care of her when she is sick. He also makes her feel loved for the first time.

This book is sweet, emotional, and powerful. The chemistry between the main characters is strong, and their attraction well written. The supporting characters are fantastic as they are in the previous books, and I felt this storyline was much more complex in a good way.
I also LOVE how we finally get the story of how Sam and Owen met, and of course, it is awesome!!

I have enjoyed this series so much and am sad to see it end. There is some lead up to a new series with Grace and the new hockey star, and I look forward to that.

ARC provided by the author, and this is my honest review.

I will fight anyone who even looks at Peyton sideways! She deserves to be loved and appreciated and Theo is the perfect man for the job!

The fact that this is the final book in the Cinder Valley series makes me want to cry. These characters are all so relatable, I never wanted it to end.

Peyton works with Mallori at a women’s health clinic and doesn’t understand why Theo hates her so much. She’s been treated like poo by her father, stepmother, and stepbrother ever since her mother died of a long illness to the point that she doesn’t believe she’s worth loving.

Theo is a veteran still trying to figure out how to adjust to civilian life again. He’s also Sam’s brother who doesn’t seem to remember how to act around people anymore so when Peyton is around he clams up and looks grumpy.

When Peyton is forced to attend her evil stepbrothers wedding, Theo volunteers to be her fake date and support her while around her horrible step family. Of course this evolves into feelings and shenanigans that we all love!

Saylor Ann has hit it out of the park with Give Me A Minute. This is the 3rd book in the Cinder Valley series. You can read this as a stand alone but trust me once you read this you are going to want to read the other 2 books.

This story is about Peyton who comes from a family that includes her dad, step mom and step brother. They basically don’t care about Peyton or her feelings. Then there is Theo who is Peyton’s best friends brother. Theo is in the process of readjusting to civilian life after being a combat medic for many years.

Theo and Peyton’s love story is a beautiful story to read. You get to watch each of them heal and grow with the support of each other. My favorite part of their love story is that fact the Theo isn’t judgmental when it comes Peyton and the fact that she is a late bloomer/not very experienced when it comes to relationships . He is understanding, caring and doesn’t pressure or rush her to do things. Overall it is a great story to read and it will make you feel all the emotions.

A Compelling Read!

Note: this is the third book in the series and can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading all books in order! Also check trigger warnings

This was a compelling and heart-wrenching installment of the series.

The main characters are faced with triumph and heartache in this story as they navigate everyday life and hidden feelings amongst their trauma and experiences.

The FMC is a sunshine character with a deep heart and deeper inner strength. The MMC is a tender hearted grump, and he will do anything for the FMC!
Both characters in their respective capacities are great mental health reps!

This is a must read with tropes including grumpy/sunshine; best friend’s brother; and fake romance where he falls first! The storyline is raw and relatable and I loved that, true to life, not everything can be wrapped up with a neat bow.

The story contains romance, comedy, meddling loved ones, found family, deep heartache and trauma, strong bonds and some great spice!

It is definitely a must read!

Thank you to the author for the opportunity to be on the ARC team, and to read this wonderful story for only an voluntary and honest review!

Okay… So at the beginning I very much enjoyed this book. It grabbed my attention and I flew by the pages. The first trike for me was the MFC that had zero confidence in herself. Her self-esteem was so low that she basically didn’t want to believe that MMC likes her.. I was like “yeah, okay, fair enough” but that was so repetitive in every damn chapter, I got kinda sick of this storyline at some point. The second strike for me was the MMC who was too.. mellow for my liking. He was portrayed as a dominant alfa male but something was missing in order to make me believe it. To me he was washed out with not enough personality. The third and final strike was the so called “plot twist” that just didn’t make any sense. Like ZERO sense. I love a good plot twist and that just left me laughing at how ridiculously was executed. After that I was not able to finish the book because… wtf was that plot twist?!

Oh I laughed and cried along with these two. Peyton thought that Theo's glares when they were out together with mutual friends meant he hated her. But they were quite the reverse, he was crushing on her. Peyton, having a melt down at her front door discovered that Theo lived in her next door apartment when he found her and looked after her. When Peyton needed to attend a wedding of her bullying step brother, Theo offered to be her boyfriend for that weekend. As their fake relationship becomes more real, Peyton still struggles to find her self worth and Theo to find peace from his PTSD nightmares. More lovely interactions with previous Cinder Valley characters make this a very emotional, steamy and fun read.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

ARC Reader Review ✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️🌶️

Arc reader review // minor spoilers

This book was beautifully written with the perfect amount of detail for the reader to be able to visualize everything as it went down. The raw emotions I felt in the beginning with Peyton while she lost her mom pulled at my heartstrings because I lost a parent at a young age. The way Saylor wrote about Theo’s PTSD & their journey to become the best versions of themselves together was the kind of positive growth we all search for in our twin flame & that’s definitely what they were. Two imperfect people coming together to love each other the way we all strive to be loved & love our person. I cannot say it enough, I was blown away at how well written this story was & how much I grew to love these characters over this series!! Cannot wait for more books to come!!! 🤍

Wow!

Where do I begin? I’m not usually a *typical* romance reader, but when I saw ARC signups open for this I was drawn in immediately. I’m so glad I was because what a wild ride!

I laughed, I cried, I got angry, and insanely giddy right along with the characters. The chemistry between Theo and Payton is absolutely OFF THE CHARTS from start to finish. These two were absolutely made for each other and I just love how they support one another through all the struggles they face.

I don’t want to say too much because I’m a very anti-spoiler review kinda gal, but definitely pick this one up if you haven’t yet!

I loved Peyton and Theo story.

Peyton thought Theo hated her because he has never really spoken to her and has just glared at her since he came back a year ago. When in reality he just doesn’t know how to socialize and open up to new people since he came back from military. I’m glad Sam stood them both up for coffee so Theo and Peyton could try to get to know each other before her wedding .

Peyton also had a ruff life after her mother passed away. She never felt loved or felted that she deserves to be loved. She definitely put up a wall but I love how determined Theo is to prove to Peyton that she does deserve to be loved, even if it isn’t by him after the fake dating arrangement.

Give Me a Minute is a light hearted rom-com that also gives a realistic representation of PTSD, childhood trauma, and illnesses. The storyline is wonderfully crafted, and I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN!

Peyton and Theo had my heart from the very first chapter! Their story is heart warming, but also filled with personal trials and trauma for both MCs.

Peyton is our sweet, kind-hearted FMC with a sunshine personality and a deep inner strength.  Theo is our grumpy, but soft hearted, MMC with a feirce loyalty for his friends and family.

This story contains fake dating, meddling friends, trauma, great banter, and of course romance!

ARC True and Honest Review:

This is a third book apart of an interconnected series, but it can be read as a standalone. Please read the trigger warnings before reading.

This story was so beautifully written and it made me shed many of tears. The author really made me feel immersed and connected to this story and it’s characters. This story follows the FMC(Peyton) and the MMC(Theo) going through their traumas and PTSD while fake dating. I love the found family trope of a story. The storyline is very relatable and it gives readers a chance to understand the different things that people go through in life and how they can overcome it.

Pack your bags because we are heading back to Cinder Valley.

Sam is attempting to go 3 for 3 in terms of her matching making and this time its her brother Theo who is trying to readjust to civilian life and the newest addition to girls night, Peyton, are in the spotlight.

I really enjoyed this story and resinated with Peyton in so many ways. Her development arc was great to see and the support Theo gave her in so many different ways made me swoon hard! plus the spice (Ms Saylor is see you!) The found family element is strong as always in this series - they really are a group of individuals that would want to be friends with and remind Peyton that she is wanted and loved by so many people.

There are some heavy topics in this book (please check the TW) which Saylor handled with care, authenticity and respect they required. They complement the characters development arcs in a way that added depth to the story.

I can’t wait to return to the Valley soon.
