Reckless Hearts (Hibiscus Hearts #2) by Claire Raye

Oh this book, this book has so much heart. It was such a joy to read. It's an intense love story with longing, passion and true connection. There is no needless drama, no stupid scene where they suddenly misunderstand each other, it was just pure joy. Joy and showing us readers what a healthy relationship looks like where you talk through what happens instead of running away.
I needed a book like this so hard. I read too many books with needless drama lately so this felt like such a breath of fresh air. Thank you Claire Raye for writing a gem like this one! ♥
This book focuses on Alana's love story. I loved returning to this world and seeing almost all the characters of the first book in this one, just warmed my heart. I loved seeing them again. And still love all of them to pieces.
Nate and Sage are renting out the cottage and Flynn is the first person who is renting it. He needs a break from where he came from and he instantly feels at ease in the cottage and at the beach. Within moments he meets Alana and they instantly connect and chemistry bursts alive between them. So much that they instantly find a place to fall into each other's arms. They both let the other one know it's just sex and a one time thing.
But the heart wants what the heart wants. And they keep gravitating towards each other. I just love how they tried to stay aloof in the company of others. And how desperate they both failed at that haha.
The love scenes aren't even over the top descriptive. But the authors absolutely nailed the chemistry and passion between the two of them. My heart just warmed from their love. I love how open and honest they are. And when Flynn tells her about his past and why the relationship may not be viable, I just loved how they communicated and talked and how reasonable and loving they both are.
This is a book about respect and hope and grieving and healing. It's about truly being in the corner of the one you love.
Mitch's story line throughout this book was so beautifully written. And the scene where Alana finally read his letter was just everything.
Stunning, stunning book. 5 huge stars from me for Flynn and Alana and all the amazing characters of the Hibiscus World.
And I just love how the third book in this series is being set up! I absolutely cannot wait to read the next one! ♥

Flynn had rented the little cottage from Nate and Sage, the main characters of the 1st book. He planned to stay there for a pretty short while, but his planes might change pretty soon. Why? Because one random meet on the beach will have his heart jumping.
Alana and Flynn had an instant love, which they thought it will only be a one night stand. Their connection was so pure that it was truly impossible to ignore those sparks between them, the love for surfing being the main thing which brought them together. But there was one secret Flynn was hiding which might ruin both their careers. Will they risk it all for their love story? Will Alana overcome her fears and start surfing again?
Ohh, how much I love a forbidden love!! The way you could feel the angst throughout the story was unbelievable! I loooved the perfect chemistry built between Alana and Flynn. They've met at the right time, when Alana needed most and he was the best reason for Alana to heal from her loss. He was such a golden retriever, being insanely attracted to beautiful Alana. They had some things to overcome to keep what they had, but everyone kind of felt how well they would fit together and kept on pushing for that.
This book was soo good!! You could just get yourself lost in it and in those cozy summer vibes. The secret and forbidden love story just won me over and I was mesmerized by the sweet, steamy and healing relationship formed between Alana and Flynn. If you miss the summer vibes, go read this book!

Back to the island! And what a welcome it was!! Flynn is there for work, with every intention of doing what needs to be done and get back home. And then Alana walks into his life. Again and again. Their banter was instantly fabulous! This is technically not a slow burn, BUT it does have that tension and slow emotional build. And I loved every second of it! Flynn Hudson is exactly what Alana needs, at the very right moment. Their bonding tore a hole in my heart. Bonding over the fear of not being enough and disappointing everyone!? Thank goodness their story felt like a warm hug!

I was thoroughly obsessed with Alana and Flynn and their entire story. From their initial meeting, right up until the end, these two were absolutely perfect together and extremely spicy and passionate.
Alana was fantastic, her backstory had me hurting, but it brought her to where she is today. She is kind, caring, incredibly strong and values her friends so much. Flynn was just amazing he is the biggest sweetheart, and so hot!
I loved the natural progression of their relationship and how they had this instant connection that they both tried to play off as only physical, but it was far from that-their feelings ran deep! Alana and Flynn have so much in common and I love the trust and comfort showcased just from being with one another. They just fit so well, spoke openly, spent time doing things together, gave support and had this pull that couldn’t be denied.
Them knowing that they shouldn’t be together, absolutely killed me. They had so much potential for a relationship, but due to outside factors they knew that it wasn’t a good idea. But oh man,they couldn’t resist all that was between them even when they tried to focus on just being friends there was this delicious intense tension that made every time they were together on the page so much fun!!
This definitely led to some angsty moment and had my heart going out to them because you knew they just belong together.
I flew through the book and was so excited to read as their story unfolded. They are adorable, hot, and connected so well-I enjoyed every moment! Yes, they had their struggles and obstacles to overcome but it was so worth it and I needed these two to get have their HEA so badly while reading!
I am beyond excited for more of this series, I easily imaged myself in Hawaii taking in all the sites and scenery. This group of characters are more than friends-but the found family they each need and deserve. They are so much fun together and I can’t wait for the next couple!

This story. I thought book one was top notch but this series just keeps getting better and better!!
Flynn is in Hawaii to coach a female surfer for a competition. He needs a vacation so he shows up early to do just that. He’s stating at the small condo connected to the surf shop. On day one, he meets Alana at the beach. Alana is training for the same competition as Flynn’s client. They hit off right away and have a ONS. The next day they run into each other at the surf shop. Alana is one of the workers and best friends with the owners. This gives a forced proximity spin on Flynn and Alana. I loved these two so much!! They have a secret relationship because Flynn is a coach of a surfer in the same competition Alana is trading for. They can’t be connected due to the regulations of the surf competition. They keep the surf separate from their relationship but Flynn gives Alana the confidence in her talent and Alana reminds Flynn for the love of the sport. This book was so good!

This is very quickly becoming a favourite series! The setting and vibes are truly immaculate and I wish I was there in Hawaii with these characters! Just like the first book, Reckless Hearts was full of heat, emotion and belonging. Flynn and Alana were perfect together!

I absolutely flew through this book. It’s unputdownable. It had me smiling, crying - just a little bit - and laughing so hard. I loved every single detail about this book.
I really liked Alana in Broken Hearts so I was incredibly excited to see that Reckless Hearts was her book. After reading Reckless Hearts, I love her even more. Claire Raye does such an amazing job when it comes to making realistic characters. Alana’s journey and growth while she still grieves Mitch’s death is so natural and well done, it’s impossible to not love her and feel for her. Alana is the exact kind of character you wish could be your best friend.
Flynn was such a great fit - both with Alana and the rest of the crew. He fit right in and had such a great dynamic with all the different characters, it was so fun to see him join the group. I couldn’t get enough of the sweet moments between him and Alana. Even the simple things like their morning runs at the waterfall made me so happy. They’re genuinely so perfect together - coming from someone who isn’t usually too into insta-attraction/insta-love, I completely ate it up with this book and there’s literally no other way I would’ve wanted their relationship to start. It was utter perfection and such a healthy relationship.
Of course I love seeing Sage and Nate throughout the book - I really need to go back and do a reread of their book. The rest of the crew is still around from Broken Hearts as well and I’m excited to see more of them as the series goes on.
The Hibiscus Hearts series is quickly becoming one of my favorites. So excited for Sloane and Owen in Fragile Hearts!

Alana Hale has lived in Hawaii all her life. Her mother left to the mainland at 18, and she’s really leaned on her friends who ended up turning into family. She is working with Nate and Sage at the surf shop, instead of training for the big surf competition coming up. Before her friend and father-figure Mitch passed, she was entered into a professional surfing competition as an amateur. She’s not been surfing as much after his passing, but knows how disappointed he would be in her, as she looked to him as a father figure.

I love love loved this book. Hands down, I believe this is my favourite book by Claire and Raye to this point. I have been highly anticipating this book and it did not disappoint in the slightest, from the first glimpse of the book I was instantly sold and now having read it, it must have been far better than I could have imagined.
The plot for this book was brilliant. We follow our girl Alana Hale, whom I loved very much in the first book of the Hibiscus Hearts series, and to read her book was even better. Alana has a place in the upcoming surfing competition for the first time but is debating actually competing after the loss of her coach and father figure, which understandably hit her very hard.
While surfing one day Alana meets Flynn Roberts who happens to be a former pro surfer before his accident and is staying in Nate and Sage's cottage behind their surfing shop that Alana works at, however Alana has no clue who he is and that he is a coach of one of the other competitors in the surfing competition. The two end up having a very spontaneous fling, which is only supposed to happen once, but like in most cases, it doesn't, and there are many scenes as proof in this book.
The two got a lot closer than either anticipated, and I loved that aspect of the book and, seeing the two, create a bond and watch their relationship develop into something more. There were many obstacles in the way of them having a relationship, but they handled everything maturely and pretty well.
The writing in this book was superb per usual, and the words flowed so nicely, and being paired with a plot and characters as such, it just made everything so much better to read. I can't wait for any further books in this series and to see Alana and Flynn again soon.
The plot for this book was brilliant. We follow our girl Alana Hale, whom I loved very much in the first book of the Hibiscus Hearts series, and to read her book was even better. Alana has a place in the upcoming surfing competition for the first time but is debating actually competing after the loss of her coach and father figure, which understandably hit her very hard.
While surfing one day Alana meets Flynn Roberts who happens to be a former pro surfer before his accident and is staying in Nate and Sage's cottage behind their surfing shop that Alana works at, however Alana has no clue who he is and that he is a coach of one of the other competitors in the surfing competition. The two end up having a very spontaneous fling, which is only supposed to happen once, but like in most cases, it doesn't, and there are many scenes as proof in this book.
The two got a lot closer than either anticipated, and I loved that aspect of the book and, seeing the two, create a bond and watch their relationship develop into something more. Everyone who has followed me for a while knows how much I love these ladies!! They were my first ever interview on my YouTube channel and they’ve wrote some of my comfort reads. This book is absolutely fantastic! Talk about an intense longing, unbelievable passion and a deep bond these two had. I loved their friendship and relationship they have a healthy and happy relationship without all the drama and I really enjoyed that! It was just a unique take that made me smile. Don’t get me wrong I love the drama and tension heck these ladies write some great ones but it was nice to have that different perspective a great story.
I loved Alana in the first book she was such a great side character I’m so glad she got her own story!
Flynn’s arrival sets of some amazing chemistry and connection with Alana and I loved their relationship and how it grew. They are like magnets towards each other unable to release from each other’s orbit.

Reckless Hearts is the second book in the Hibiscus Hearts series. You do not have to read the first book, Broken Hearts, but doing so will bring greater depth to this book.
I loved Alana in the first book. Her character is both so broken by the loss of Mitch, a father figure she deeply loved, but at the same time, she is fierce. She is selfless to a fault, always putting others before herself. As an amateur surfer taught by Mitch, she won a spot in the professional surfing competition, the Maui Pipe. This was an incredible feat and proves her natural talent and abilities on a surf board. Flynn is a retired world champion surfer staying in the bungalow behind the surf shop where Alana works. She meets him at the beach while surfing. The attraction is instant, like a few hours later, they are making waves on someone's boat. They keep meeting up and getting to know each other and things are going fabulous until Flynn finds out that Alana has entered in the Maui Pipe. Here lies the conflict of interest, as he is a coach to one of the female professional surfers. They decide to cool things off because Alana does not want to ruin his career and Flynn does not want to ruin Alana's chance at going pro. He has told her that she is a much better surfer with natural abilities than his client. Alana reads a letter that Mitch left for her telling her to take risks, put her happiness above everything else because for so long, she put everyone else first. She decides that Flynn is worth the risk of being disqualified. They sneak around and try to keep their relationship a secret but when Flynn's bratty, immature 18 year old client rolls into town a week early, things go sideways in a bad way.
Alana and Flynn were the perfect couple, compatible in every way. They built each other up, gently forced each other from the comfort zone, and were relentlessly supportive of each other. I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait to read the next book in there series.

Claire has honestly quickly become a new favourite author of mine! My first read of hers was book one of this series 'Broken Hearts' which I loved so much; and this book was right up there with the first. Her books have a ton of heart & emotion & feeling in them, and you really connect with the characters and feel their pain and hurt and love and happiness.

I love Flynn and Alana. The second I started this book I fell head over surfboard for these two and I couldn’t get enough of them. I completely devoured their story.
There is a spark from the moment these two meet. They can’t seem to get enough of each other, yet it isn’t all calm seas and there are some storms in their future. These two are truly perfect for each other. I loved their shared passion for surfing. I love how supportive they are of each other. They both give each other the confidence that they had lost over time and it is great to see them both find that again.
The spice is spicing when it comes to Flynn and Alana. They are giving that Hawaiian weather a run for its money, but there are also plenty of swoon and sweet moments between the two of them.
I can’t wait to return to Hawaii and the rest of this series! I love getting to see more of Nate and Sage and I can’t wait for what is coming next.

I was so excited to get more on Flynn and the much guarded Alana. These two did not disappoint.
These two had such a whirlwind passionate relationship. They just couldn't stay away and were always drawn to each other. Their connection was undeniable and I loved that they pushed each other to open up and to chase their dreams. They were each other's biggest cheerleader.
I loved loved loved the found family. They all banded together and were a great support system for each other.

𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 is the 2nd book in the Hibiscus Hearts series by author duo Claire Raye, featuring a spicy and emotional forbidden romance for Alana and Flynn. I’ve been curious about how Alana’s story would unfold, since I read the first book! I was definitely not expecting the explosion of insta-lust right from the beginning, but Alana and Flynn’s fiery chemistry definitely jumps off the pages throughout.🔥 I enjoyed their banter and dialogue, and the way they connected on a deeper level. I loved the found family vibe of this friend group, and the way Mitch’s impact was still being felt in such a beautiful way. The world building and imagery of the Hawaii setting was like adding another character, because it added so much to the story! I loved getting immersed in the surf competition culture and a little bit of drama, too!😉 There’s so much left to explore with the friends that I can’t wait for the next book!

Flynn Roberts was one of the top male surfers in the world, but got injured and now coaches. He's in town for Maui Pipe and is hoping to get a nice break before he has to start coaching his overbearing client. Alana Hale is an up and coming surfer that has earned herself a spot for Maui Pipe as an amateur. When she and Flynn meet, they hit it off and agree to a one night stand. However, neither one wants it to end after their first time and can't keep away from the other. But when Alana finds out who Flynn is, they know they need to stay away from each other. But it's harder than it should be for both of them, until they agree to see each other in secret because they just want to be together.
I loved this story! After losing the only father figure she's known, Alana doesn't even know if she wants to keep surfing, but Flynn helps her realize how good she really is and encourages her to do it. I loved seeing their chemistry and feelings grow. Alana and Flynn are just so good for each other and make each other happy!

Book 2 in the Hibiscus Hearts series, and I’m calling it right now, this series is going to be my all-time favorite from Claire Raye.
Just like with book one, this book had me hooked from page one until the very end, and even at the end, I wasn’t ready for it to be over. I absolutely ADORE Alana, she’s so incredibly selfless, and to see her finally take what she wants not only in her personal life, but also in her professional… I don’t have the words to describe how freakin perfect it was. She deserves only the good things!
Flynn was the perfect compliment to Alana. I don’t know if I’ve ever read a couple that was more compatible in literally every aspect of their lives. He was the push she needed, but Alana was also the push he needed.

From the moment, Alana and Flynn meet it is fireworks. Their chemistry is an inferno. While I love the aspects of a secret Romance, I cannot help but love Flynn more for respecting Alana’s boundaries, especially with her roommates. These girls are a fierce pack!
Flynn is a green flag boyfriend! He’s so steady and knows what he wants and goes after Alana with no reservations.
And as always, in Claire Raye fashion, they drop some hints about who the next couple will be, and I am dying to know more about them! Of course, if you’ve read book one, you get to see Nate and Sage one more time in a glimpse into their life. However, reading the books in order is not required but highly recommended.

This was a really good one! This series is so heartfelt and deep. Lots of passion and an intense love story. I loved Alana and Flynn. The tension was real with them, along with the back and forth. I liked how they both had trauma in the past and could relate. They knew they shouldn’t be together but their hearts longed for it. Forbidden romance to the core! While there was depth, the two of them were a lot of fun to read about. Claire Raye develops their characters so well and it allows you to fall in love with them!
I had a connection with Alana from the first book in this series. I truly felt how hurt she was and where the hurt came from throughout this book. While you don’t need to read the first book prior to reading this one, I would recommend it!

I am absolutely loving this series so far and I just loved Alana and Flynn's story! This might be my favorite so far.
Alana had a tough childhood but realized young that she is good at surfing and had to figure it out on her own until she met Mitch and Nate. But with Mitch gone, she struggles to want to keep surfing and compete.
Flynn is a former pro surfer and came to Maui for a vacation but while there he meets Alana and the attraction is immediate and scorching. They both want to just have a hookup but things get a little more complicated when he realizes she's a surfer and he is a part of it somehow. Don't want to give anything away.
Will they be able to stay away from each other or will everything for both of them be ruined? Read to find out. I just love this and all the side characters too! Can't wait for more books!

My gosh this series has truly made me miss Hawaii so much! Alana and Flynn are just everything good you want to read! They have spice, passion, heart, and so much more! Alana is such a bad a!$ female character. She has this passion and drive that goes so deep for surfing and her friends. She’s selflessly always puts others first and to see her take things for herself was amazing. Flynn, dear sweet Aussie with a dirty mouth! My gosh the way I was like he’s absolutely just sheer perfection for Alana. They truly were just the best versions of themselves together.
The first book in this series made me cry, this second book had me tearing up in one spot but my gosh the way I LOVE this series. I can’t wait for the next book!

I’m completely in love with this series. It’s become one of my favorites and I can’t get enough of it. Once again, we’re back with my favorite found family and we get to know more about Alana. I have loved her from the start and her journey is just something that has me in awe. So when Flynn, shows up I was even more excited to see where it was headed. Their chemistry is immediately so good and so intense. I love when “just a fun hook up.” ends up being more than they could ever imagine. Throw in a few surprises and it was just too good to put down. It also had me totally on the edge of my seat while reading about surfing competitions, learning about it all has been so fun. As always, I’m already counting down till the next book!

I knew from the ending of book 1 that I was going to be hooked on Alana and Flynn’s story, and I was not disappointed!!
Alana and Flynn both have a passion for surfing. Alana loses her coach and mentor causing her to shy awake from ocean. Flynn gets hurts in a surfing accident as a world champion and loses his passion for the surf.
In this story, passion meets excellence. Flynn and Alana return to their love of surf by helping each other see the potential they have for the sport.
Just like every Claire Raye book, I have fallen in love with these MCs and they officially hold a piece of my heart.
Plus, who doesn’t love a vocal man and k!nky s*x on someone else’s boat?! 😏

I didn’t know what to expect for Alana’s book, I couldn’t really figure her out in the first book in the series. But she did win me over, but Flynn also of course.
Alana still isn’t sure if she will be surfing in the competition after losing Mitch (her coach). But when a handsome surfer shows up in town, he’s more than just a good time.
Alana needs to heal from the loss she suffered, and even though she has good friends all around her, it’s the spark that Flynn ignites in her that is starting her healing process.
What starts out as a fling, actually is a story of love at first sight. But they can’t be together because of who Flynn is. But the heart is stronger than the conscience.
I’m very excited what the rest of the series will bring. I kind of like it in Hawaii… okay, I love it!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. This is the 2nd book in the Hibiscus Hearts series. Each book can be read as a standalone.

Flynn was once a great pro surfer. An injury took him out, and now he coaches Jade, a female surfer. He came out early to Maui to relax and get away from her for a few weeks.
Alana and Flynn meet by chance. From the first look, they are both hooked and can't stay away from one another. Even when they should.
I loved this book. I devoured it from the first page to the last. Can't wait for more from this series.

Woohoo! We are back in Hawaii with the Hibiscus Hearts series and this was another amazing book. Here we have Flynn, famous Aussie champion surfer turned coach, who is a holiday before he starts coaching again. He bumps into Alana, an amateur surfer.
Unfortunately, the nature of Flynn’s job makes it risky and “forbidden” for them to date. All that pining was so good and I loved that f*ck it moment when all risks are forgotten.
I loved how supportive they are of each other and it was lovely to see them spending time together. There are many sweet scenes, “you go girl” moments and spicy parts and all these came together to make this a wonderful read.
