About the author

Mel Cebulash grew up in Union City, NJ where he developed his athletic skills in schoolyard games. Rather than pursue a career in sports, he chose to write about them. Many of his published works, both fiction and non-fiction, reflect his life-long fascination with sports and his special interest in writing for young people.

The title of this one totally gives it all away, but the young reader genre is not really known for its epic suspense. Ruth comes through, despite all manner of hardship, and is crowned World Champion along with the rest of the Dodgers. They beat the dreaded Yankees! This Red Sox fan could not be happier.

These books definitely read better if you're twelve, but all in all, and perhaps mostly because of the nostalgia, I really enjoyed them. The baseball writing is pretty sharp, and although the pacing of the plot leaves a bit to be desired, Cebulash covers all the necessary elements.

I wonder if we'll ever actually see a woman in the Big Leagues. I'll be waiting with bated breath!

after getting hurt she want to make a quick comeback as she has heard in the media that there is talk that she is scared. she returns to los angles and worms her way into the line-up. and gets hurt again. the team struggles until she returns. interested in some guys.
