Till death do us part

A vow that ties souls until the afterlife. A haunting promise that echoes far beyond the spoken words. Those were the words Irena Nowak thought she had escapes when she finally broke free from an abusive marriage. But her uncles had other plans, plans that involved tying her to the French mafia.

Saint Dé Leon.

Underneath the glamour of their new life was an ever-growing hatred that threatened to consume them both.
Lies and secrets bubbled to the surface, threatening the bond that had been forced upon them.
As their past came back to haunt them. The possibility of a deadly outcome loomed over their heads.
Their families could not keep the peace for much longer. They would have to protect that bond that was forced against their will, or would they start a war that would end in bloodshed?

Aliah Darkrose

Aliah Darkrose writes about the darker sides of love, obsession, and survival. She sometimes writes soft, messy romance if the mood strikes. Aliah studies psychology, which probably explains why her characters are usually a little bit broken.

Most days, she’s either in her own world, studying, or creating worlds that make people uncomfortable in the best way. She doesn’t believe in perfect heroes or happy endings without scars. If you’re here for something sweet one second and unhinged the next, you’re probably in the right place.

It's not a HEA, just letting the future readers know! What could have been one of the best mafia books with best book husband ended sadly in a tragedy that wrecked me, I would not have been this offended but the book had a lot of potential so much of character development and now I don't see the point !
And I feel betrayed that it wasn't mentioned anywhere that this isn't a HEA, it's the most tragic ending you can imagine a trigger warning or a heads up would have been nice. It's worse when you realize how much the main characters have suffered and how much they deserved a happy ending! I had high expectations for the whole book, which was going pretty good but the ending has frustrated me so much I will probably never read any book this author writes ever again! If I wanted to read about characters unalived randomly I would have read George RR MARTIN books! And not this!

“She's my lifeline; my tether to the world.
She finally knows all my secrets, except one; that I am madly in love with her.”

I will never, ever recover from the pain I went through. Irena Nowak and Saint Dé Leon are my loves, they made me feel so alive then crushed my soul and left me lifeless.

Words can't explain who deeply I fell for this book. It maybe the singleness in me talking but I know that the love Saint and Irena shared was real. It was the love that fills a family for generations to come. There is nothing you can say to me to change my mind. Yes, they were crazy and a little clinically insane but even if you were to take all the pain, hurt, and sorrow, you would still find the love they shared. Hazel's way of writing shows raw and deep emotion., it almost makes you feel like you are there in the moment. As a black girl who has never been in a relationship where I was valued more than for my body it warms my heart to see a fellow black women (fictional or not) be loved flaws and all. I will continue to read and follow Hazel's work because her characters have taught me that no matter what scars you bear there will always be someone out there who will stop at nothing to heal them.

First I would like to thank Hazel Blackwood for giving me a chance to be an ARC reader! When I said that I was so excited to read this book, I built an expectation for it. And I was scared that it wouldn't live up to it. BUT THIS SURPASSED EVERY EXPECTATION! ❤️

This book took me on a roller-coaster ride and I didn't have any regrets! It felt like a slow-burn romance, it had so much tension between Irena and Saint! Honestly it was captivating as hell!!!!!

HOUSEWIFE had so much plot and character development(especially for Saint). I had so much fun reading how both Irena and Saint work through all of their pain and past together. The way they bonded over their past and tried to work through it made my heart swell.

Irena. She honestly has my heart. For everything that she went through, I cried so hard! She reminded me of a vulnerable Lana Myres. She slayed her demons and kept her head held high no matter what happened.

Saint. Words can express how I felt reading his character progress from a sadist who enjoys people's pain ( spoiler alert🚨) to helping Irena to slay her past. His actions for Irena are impeccable and how he changes for her is swoon worthy.

I rated it a 4.95🌟. The ending of the book was not what I was expecting at all and I wished it was a different ending. But I understand and it makes sense to end the way Hazel did, but I just wanted a different one. If you're a dark romance girlie , THIS IS THE CUP OF TEA YOU NEED! Check up on triggers before you read this book.

Not only was this the first book I read where the FMC dies (like seriously?!!) but the MC puts all others to shame when he actually kills himself when she dies just to be together. I’m speechless. 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

this book has been one hell of a rollercoaster. a hot and intoxicating read.

irena, even after going through so much trouble, never backs down from a fight and that's one of the things i loved the most about her.

saint, oh man he's a fine specimen. the things he did for irena 🥹 we adore the villains who treat their wives like goddesses 🫶🏻

the plots and twists, damn i wasn't expecting that at all. it was captivating as hell. tho what the f**k was with the ending?!?! i wasn't expecting that at all 😭🤚 the author better pay for my tissue boxes because saint and irena deserves better than that!!!!!

also, this book is poetic as well. the writing was absolutely beautiful. can't wait to read more from HAZEL. what a delightful yet painful debut she has written! ✨

4.5 - First off, Thank you Hazel for the ARC. I'm forever grateful. THIS BOOK WAS WOW. I love Hazel's writing and fell in love with Irena and Saint. I'm going to admit...they were a little crazy but who isn't honestly? I love Irena and the way she her ex husband first thing in the book? In love. She really did him dirty with an apple. LOL. I love this book and it's just wow.

Housewife is such an intoxicating mix of emotions that has left me bewildered.
We have Irena and Saint who end up very much unexpectedly together, after Irena believed she'd been set free from the devious plans of her uncles.

What she wasn't expecting? Love at the hands of a killer.

Saint De León is definitely THE perfect example of a anti-hero and morally grey character. If you ever need to think of a character that perfectly embodies the aspect of "touch her and die" then Saint takes it a step further and makes it literal.

I love how both of our characters had troubled pasts (very traumatizing actually) and still have it within themselves to be capable of love.

Although this is a dark romance, it was definitely a slow burn.
However, the tension between the characters and the overall storyline kept me insanely hooked and wanting to know what proceeded the next pages.

The ending was something unexpected but definitely not surprising given our FMC’s past/history.

I was so excited to read this book, it could have been so good.

“Chocolate chip nipples” enough said.

The writing style seems like something my year 8 English teacher would force me to write. Aka overly detailed sentences which never flow together because of the complexity.
This just built up to making the book so much longer than it needed to be without actually ending up somewhere.

I couldn’t read past 23% but the characters overall ‘meeting’ was horrible. Could have been so much better.

The FMC is annoying me.

Maybe one day I will build up the ability to finish reading this without getting into a reading slump or putting the book down as soon as I open it 🙃

The ending just broke me...this was not the ending I had imagined for them...they deserved so much more...

The background story of the MCs was really heartbreaking...how much suffering the author has put them through...so make sure to read the TW/CW before starting this book...

But despite all this, it was a slow read for me...I don't know why but I wasn’t that hooked as I had expected...

I am gonna start with how much I love Hazel. She did an amazing job, this book for me was one of the many masterpieces that exist nowadays. I hope that Hazel gets all the love she deserves from this book and for her next ones.

Now starting with Housewife I adore the fact that it is one of the books that don't end with a happy ending. Usually I am a huge fan of happy endings but I truly believe that in Housewife this end make me love the boom a little more.

A slow burn Dark romance which had me in edges. It was one of those held roller coaster rides. The tension between the main characters, the plot, the character development especially Saint's was an amazing work.

But what I want to describe more is the past of the character. The carried some much pain and they slayed the demons so hard in the end. The didn't try to forget their past but they tried to work through it together. Irena's past had me crying in some chapters so hard but my girl slayed her demons. Saint's actions toward Irena had me melting. Some of his words are still in my mind (Fix me please and of course the comment about the little laugh 🥵🔥).

In conclusion 5/5 for me because it's just a MASTERPIECE.

First, I would like to thank the auther, Hazel Blackwood for giving the opportunity to read her book.

Unfortunately, this book wasn't for me, even tho I was very excited to read it, it put me in a slump. I don't really know what the exact problem was, but it just didn't click. which is why I have dnf'ed the book. I am really sad over the fact that I had to dnf, be like I mentioned before, I was actually really excited about this book.

I mean don't get me wrong, I enjoyed some parts of the book, but as I kept reading, I didn't quite enjoy it as I first started, which later on put me in a slump.

Maybe it was the writing style or the characters, but I couldn't get me mind to get through this book, and I am truly sorry.

Dark, suspenseful, fast paced, yet beautiful and passionate. This book is fantastic! Blackwood did a beautiful job of painting the scenes for her audience-her descriptions and dialogue were everything👏🏼 This book was able to capture my attention right from the beginning until the very end because of the detailed, yet mysterious, scenes that Blackwood was able to create, and few stories actually have the ability to intrigue me in such a way. I highly suggest going into this book blind, as I feel that it would make it that much easier for the reader to be sucked into the story as a whole.

THIS BOOK ABSOLUTELY BROKE ME. IT WAS SO GOOD, probably in my top 10. but i hate sad endings so I decided to turn a blind eye and just act like the alternative ending was the actual ending although DEEP DOWN in my soul i know it’s not. The character development😽😽🤌🤌 . The author writes in so much depth and her writing style is beautiful. I’ve read all her books on wattpad, it’s so worth it. Definitely recommend 10/10

You broke me. I have never had a book wreck havoc on me the way this one did. My soul can’t even handle the heartbreak.

Irena my little flower.. she is everything I love her so much. She is literally such a strong fmc I can’t get enough.

Saint. Oh saint, you deserve the world. Man deserves all the love in the world and I love the way he was written.

Irena and Saint.. oh god here come the tears again. They are so perfect. So delicately perfect I can’t even function. They are the reason mafia arraigned marriages are so good. My babies.

The last bit ripped me I don’t know how you write this with a smile. How could you do this to us. I’m utterly broken.. my heart won’t be fixed.. this book shattered me.

Did this book make me ugly cry? Yes. Am I still crying while writing this review? Yes. Did I love this book? Abso-fucking-lutely.

I’m a total sucker for arranged marriage trope and that too sprinkled with a mafia background plot? I am a goner. I loved this book so damn much. I really don’t know how to explain that in correct words.

This is one of the rare books which I cried over at the end and can’t get over the plot even after finishing the book a few days back.

Saint Dé Leon and Irena Nowak, together created a beautiful pair and I can’t stop admiring their wild connection with each other.

The stolen glances, the longing for each other’s touch and trying hard to get close to each other, each day, even after resisting the temptation; I was completely at chokehold.

This book kept me hooked from the start to finish. Saint and Irena’s chemistry was straight up fire and I couldn’t get enough if it. I loved how possessive and so in love Saint was of Irena despite him trying so hard to be unaffected by her. Him calling her “doe” every time, cracked me up.

I really wanted to castrate Irena's uncle's for making her go through so much pain. And the ending, oh god, this shouldn't have happened 😭

I can’t recommend this book enough. Hazel did a spectacular job with her debut novel and I am so proud of her.

Thank you @hazelblackwood_ for this ARC. You’re an incredible author and no one can say otherwise.

Well, I definitely will need therapy after the end of this book. On behalf of everyone who read it, I have asked Hazel to compensate for our heartbreak with an alternate ending lol... I also blame Tiyasa Tikadar for unintentionally spoiling the ending for me when I was only on chapter 1 (you can find her review within the bunch). Okay, that was my fault I read her review 🙃 I couldn't get it out of my head as I read this book. Agh. Sometimes I really do hate my curious brain.

*sigh*

Housewife was well written and had great plot and character development. It was quite the ride of drama and slow-burn romance with lots of tension. Irena is a black widow - she unalived her previous husband. She kept her cool despite everything with that husband and then after when she was forced to marry Saint. Saint was a pretty interesting character as well. He has a sadistic side. He enjoys watching other's pain and he helped Irena, as well. Considering how much their relationship grew as the story went on and how complicated things got and could have gotten, their ending makes sense. It's heartbreaking and I'll never get over it.

Firstly , this book is definitely not for everyone. If you’re not the type of person to cry for hours then I suggest you not to read it.

Secondly, Blackwood 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨💔YOU DID A FUCKING FANTASTIC JOB!

Housewife had all the emotions you could possibly think of. You want to feel warm inside , housewife gave it, you want to laugh, housewife gave it, you want to cry, housewife fucking gave it!!

Irena and Saint’s relationship oh my goodness it is the most beautiful heartbreaking dark romance story I’ve ever read.
It was raw, it was twisted , it was crazy , it was beyond amazing!

Blackwood’s writing is so beautiful and romantic and mature it swooned me in all the right places.

Again personally feel like you have to have a mature mindset to read this book, because if you don’t you won’t understand it.

The ending!?!?!?!? Left me staring at my wall for hours with tears 😭😭💔 I still can’t get over it and I never like endings like these but surprisingly I loved this one . Although it broke me. It made so much sense.

The foreshadowing the author gave through tout the book made sense.

One of my favorite parts of the book was the opening “till death do us part.” And the closing “not even death can do us part.”

This book was amazing and I can’t wait to get the physical copy so that I can break my heart again.

I loved the story. I was crying so many times during the book. Oh my God, that girl has been through hell and back, and still has her badass side. Her spirit, though wounded, didn't break and she took revenge on the people who wronged her. Irene is a role model to all the women out there, suffering in silence, with absolutely no one in their corner.

I really thought Saint would be as bad as everyone else but he was surprisingly good. And the things he had gone through, oh my God, I hated it. How can people do it to their kids. Those people do not deserve to reproduce, at all.

I did think that the story was a little stretched but I loved it nonetheless. It was amazing and I'm definitely reading more from this author.

Thank you so much for sending the ARC.
I would rate this book 3/5 ⭐️.
'Housewife' presents a slow-burn romance that revolves around Irena, a resilient character who endures numerous hardships. Her strength is truly commendable. The backstory of Saint Past is equally tragic. Watching Saint and Irena transition from enemies to lovers was a captivating experience, and their chemistry was undeniably captivating. However, the unexpected ending took me by surprise. The book contains instances of violence that didn't quite resonate with me. If you're a fan of arranged marriage and dark mafia romance genres, this might be worth checking out. Keep in mind that there are trigger warnings associated with the content.
