Charlie Hill has never been anyone’s favorite person. Quiet and a loner by nature, Charlie Hill's habit of going rogue has earned him few friends in life, not even from his brothers of the Dark Riders MC. Fate brought them together, but the world is trying to rip them apart Aubrey didn't expect herself to fall for Charlie, but with each day he's in her life, she finds it harder and harder to tear away. But as their relationship heats up, the situation around them deteriorates. Soon, Charlie and Aubrey find themselves fighting not just for freedom but their future.
I really liked this fast story, not really a cliffhanger but its there. Aubrey is part of the Dark Riders MC and she fixes and tears apart bikes faster then anyone. She just broke up with Darren of another MC and he is crazy, he follows her around, stays by her house when she is home, shows up to a bar when she there for a drink and a bit to eat. He got so bad that Aubrey goes to a fellow MC rider and stays with him just hoping the physio ex will just leaves her alone. Tires are slashed, house broken in and now a dead cat in her work locker and the cops cant help her out. Charlie is the friend she stays with and feels safe around, she also sees that when he is with her he is more open and him self but around the others his shuts himself in a box. She sees him for who he really is and she cant help but feel something towards him even more after their night in each others arms. Well I can say is I cant wait for the next story.
Short!!! Very, very short. Like a half hour read and about 50 pages!
But I liked it.
I liked the storyline which was there even though the story was really quick and I liked Charlie.
There was very little description about any of the characters which made it a little hard to picture them in my mind while I was reading which made the reading experience a little more difficult. Even just an eye/ hair colour and general description would have been useful.
It was written from first person and I liked "her" but I didn't have a good picture of "her" in my head which was weird. There was a little more about Charlie based on "her" descriptions of him and that was helpful. I think it might have been useful to have a POV from Charlie to get a little more insight into the relationship/ characters but anyhow, just some thoughts. I DID want more in that area.
A short fast read that ends in a cliff hanger, but that does not detract from the excellent storytelling and likable main charades. I'll be getting the rest of the series.
This is an enjoyable little story. Aubrey belongs to the Dark Riders MC, her job is to strip the bikes down or fix them back up, she's good at it. But she's in a mess now, She foolishly got involved with Darren on the quiet (the leader of a rival MC) and has just broken up with him. And he's a little crazy, intimidating her by hitting her, slashing her tires, her house has been broken in and now a mutilated cat in her work locker. She's scared. Charlie belongs to the Dark Riders also, he's quiet and gentle and sort of keeps himself in a 'box', she think's of him as a friend, but when they're together he opens up more in her company, and she feels safe with Charlie and so tells him her problem and he offers to help all he can as good friends do. They're good for each other. I really liked Charlie, he's a very sensitive guy and a little lonely, and I liked Aubrey for recognizing those things in him. This was a great start to the series, I'm really looking forward to reading the next book.
Well this could have been a good book but sadly it wasn't. It was a quick romance with a couple of motorcycle club names thrown in and she called it a biker book. First, Aubrey is annoying. The first few pages was like a bad mob movie. You know, pretending to be tough. 《-- That kind of wording and sentence structure was way overdone in the beginning. When Aubrey's tires got slashed, her first instinct was to call the cops. Anyone in a biker club knows better than to do that. Darren would have been creepy if there was more interaction between him and Aubrey. The author told us about things happening but didn't show us. Same goes for the 9 biker guys that showed up outside of her house. They didn't say a word. Nothing happened. So why should I be worried for Aubrey's well being? This book was boring and I only finished it because it was so short.
I'm always worried when I get these really short "stories"...because they are really NOT long enough to be considered books. It was an ok start to a series, but there was not enough time or details to make me invested in the characters and I wasn't hooked enough to pay for the next one...especially since it is just another short story (this one was a free teaser). I really wish these types of books would be released as full length standalones...the biker "short book" seems to be a trend and I don't really care for it. Hot cover and a good start...but needed much more depth to the story.
THis was a quick read, although everything happened so fast,it was am interesting read, enough for me to want to read book2. I enjoyed the snippet at the end, and am curious to find out what goes down with Charlie and Aubrey, and that psycho Darren. But I did have a big problem with this book, the MC was just so scattered, there was no brotherhood. And I felt if this was an MC book when Aubrey got in her trouble and after Charlie was confronted by those 9 rival bikers wouldn't that be the time to involve his MC in the situation.. .?
Another awful cliffhanger. I can't believe this is the same author as Oil and Leather. This book felt stilted. The writing felt off and different. Yet again though, one of those free 50 page reads, then $2.99 for a 50 page follow up book. I won't waste my time. This story just did nothing for me at all. I didn't find it sexy or interesting. Thankfully it was short.
This read to me like a teenager handing in a rough draft for English class. Editing errors, plot holes, no elaboration or description, conversation was robotic. I don't think the author did any kind of research on motorcycle clubs. Because neither club spoken about in this book is a legit club. More like, wannabes that can't hack true club life.
This was a quick read. Aubrey gets messed up with a rival MC club and now doesn't know what to do. She has broke it off with the guy but he won't leave her alone. She doesn't want to go to her brother so she turns to one other guy from her MC club. What happens when things start to get worse?
Liked it! Storyline was entertaining and enjoyable. Charlie is one of those types you can't judge a book by the cover. He may come across as quiet but sure can take charge when needed. Charlie and Aubrey have hot chemistry. Only thing I hated was the length of the book.
This novella didn't hold my attention. It may be there was not enough MC action which I love. All in all I will be reading more of A. L. Summers books.
It's hard for me to picture Charlie as a biker but I think that's why I like it.... It's different. I'm looking forward to see what happens in the rest of the series.
Getting fed up with these teasers that leave with a cliffhanger. If it's good we will buy into the series but I refuse to when you don't get enough to call it a story.
