The Complete Character Development Workbook is the kind of book I wish I’d read when I first started writing years ago. I’ve read a bunch of writing books, but this one really stands out. What makes it different is that Teafatiller doesn’t just focus on techniques for building a solid plot. The author also shows you how to create characters that actually feel and sound human. The chapters dive into things like personality, beliefs and morality, social life, language, fears, weaknesses, the hierarchy of needs, and more.
Each chapter introduces a specific character development technique and then gives you a set of exercises to help you practise what you’ve learned. There’s even a whole chapter on weapons, abilities and skills, which very helpful if you’re writing a utopian story.
My favourite part is the section that breaks down different types of character conflict. I reckon it’d be really useful for building a solid conflict arc. It’s five stars from me!🤩
