SHE’S HIS RUIN, AN OBSESSION WEAVED INTO HIS SOUL.

Things have never gone right for Ainsley Hades. Melbourne was supposed to be a fresh start, a dream job, and a new life. But that dream only remained a dream. Stuck in a cycle of job rejections and unpaid bills, she was forced to pack up her life and return to her hometown, South Highland, scraping by doing embarrassing jobs just to keep money in her pocket, all while cursing her luck.

But was it just bad luck?

For six years, Theon Ryder has been watching her every move. Obsessed from the moment he laid eyes on her, his fixation turned deadly the night she left him to die. A small misunderstanding became the fuel for five years of calculated revenge—ruining her life from behind the scenes and making sure she never knew why things kept going wrong.

Now that Ainsley is back where everything started, he’s ready to come out from behind the screen and show her the real hell. But does he...? As he faces her, the obsessed beast he thought died that night rises again, stronger and more relentless than ever, rearranging his thought-out plans.
And worse, he’s not the only one after her. A darker force has its eyes on what is his, stalking her with a purpose to take back what it claimed she owed.

Note: This is a dark book that explores themes of obsession and possessiveness that goes beyond a typical romance. It has quite some triggers so please check them before reading!

Thank you to Violet San for this ARC 🥹💕

this book had me in an absolute CHOKEHOLD for the 3 days it took me to read it, i’m genuinely saddened about the fact that i finished it. theon is now one of my new favorite book boyfriends😮‍💨 had me kicking my feet and blushing any time he spoke.
i LOVED the writing style in this, it drew me into the story so quickly from the very beginning and was so entertaining the whole way through. i loved both of the main characters too, the way theon was so deeply obsessed with ainsley, and did anything and everything he could to make her happy and keep her safe just had me so in love with his character. “touch her and 💀” was veryyyy literal with him.
ainsley was such a baddie, i loved her attitude and the way she snapped back in the middle of a dangerous situation 😭 had me cheering for her even though it was so reckless of her to do at that moment LMAO, what a queen. these two were just so perfect for each other.
this was such a fun read and i def recommend it to anyone who loves dark romance/stalker romances with a halloween setting. just like with any dark romance book, please check the trigger warnings 🤍

“There is no flushing you out of my system, Ainsley. Because you are the system itself. Without you, I’d be dead.”

“You look dangerously alluring, the queen of my heart.”

“You’re branded on me, Ainsley. Burned into me so deep that no one could ever replace you.”

*2.5*

This book is absolutely DRIPPING with Halloween decor and crisp October autumn air. There are pumpkins and skeletons and bats and fog machines and "vampire lattes" and scary costumes and so much more! I LOVED that. The Halloween themes and vibes pervading this story were probably my favorite part of the whole thing, and they filled me with delicious Halloween and autumnal, spooky coziness.

Overall, I would say I did enjoy this story, especially when I was soaking in the cuteness of Theon, the spice, and the Halloween vibes, and I WASN'T looking too closely at the rest of it. But unfortunately, Locked In had some issues that brought the score down to a 2.5ish star read for me.

Throughout the story I found a LOT of awkward, clunky phrasing. Some of it MIGHT have been because it was an ARC copy and lacked its final round of proofreading because there were some times when a negative was used when there should have been a positive or vice versa (as well as copious typos, but typos in general don't bother me and, as this was an uncorrected proof, especially get a pass). This led to confusion, but even ignoring those examples, there were some sentences that just didn't seem to make sense and others that were painfully awkward. I feel this may have needed MORE than one more round of proofreading and really required another round of edits to clean up the clumsy language and extra words. Here are just a couple (of many) examples that I saved (keep in mind, these are taken from an uncorrected ARC copy and may be adjusted upon release):

"With the way they wouldn’t stop jumping and screaming, I could tell they were tipsy. I interacted with people I was familiar with, hardly, the three girls never wanted to let me go."

"I was back to staring at the sweaty people, at the makeups that were gradually digging into ruins."

Besides that, I felt like things shifted too quickly and too easily, the MMC's hatred disappearing from one chapter to the next after he'd held onto it for SIX years. Suddenly gone overnight? And the FMC later not only forgiving him but holding onto zero bitterness or trauma from the six years he'd been mentally abusing and tormenting her. It would be one thing to decide to try to forgive and move on as a PROCESS as she tries to learn to trust him again, but forgetting it completely after he'd given her a few gifts and fixed something HE was responsible for ruining years ago? Not realistic.

But, the FMC always did struck me as lacking personality. She wasn't much of a character besides being the one the MMC became infatuated with (for zero reason, I might add. He saw her for the first time and was obsessed. There was nothing specific about her or something she did. She just EXISTED in his peripheral one day. I really wish he'd had had some spark or trigger or REASON). As far as we know, she doesn't have any particularly strong feelings about anything (except one of her favorite meals is the incredibly original "lasagna"), she doesn't have any hobbies, and she isn't motivated to do or achieve or stand up for anything besides wishing she could get the (boring) job she studied in college for. She's also alarmingly stupid, putting obvious things together extremely late or not at all until they're right in front of her face. It's characters like her that push me towards books without FMCs because at least Theon, the MMC, had some personality.

And to talk about figuring things out, oh my gosh, the "twists" were obvious so early on as to be laughable when the "reveals" came. There weren't many twists in the first place, but there was literally no actual surprise in any of them, and I was left waiting for the obvious conclusions to occur so I could move on, get back to the spice, and close out this read.

All that being said, when I could get past the flimsy "plot" and unedited writing, Theon was an enjoyable, dark protagonist, the spice was pretty good, and the Halloween, autumn vibes were exquisite. I smiled and snickered to myself so much when, early on, Theon anxiously undoes the damage he'd wreaked when his master plan doesn't quite go according to plan and the subject of his torture, the FMC, goes to stay at someone else's house where it's nicer. He's so anxious to not only put it BACK but make it BETTER so baby will have a reason to come home. It's so adorable and sweet in a silly, evil-obsessed-mastermind-trying-to-fix-his-problems kind of way. He was CUTE, and I enjoyed some of his dreamy, poetic lines. There's one towards the very end that I would LOVE to share about a tattoo of his, but I'll leave that to be enjoyed by Locked In's readers. Instead, I'll show you one of my favorite dark, possessive lines,

“If you die, Ainsley,” I growled, my voice cold, “I will walk through the grounds and the skies to bring you back to life. There is no afterlife without me.” I leaned closer to let her know how crazy serious I was. “If you even think about slipping away, I’ll follow you into hell itself. You belong to me in this life, in the next, and whatever’s after that. Don’t even dream of leaving my sight.”

I wouldn't exactly recommend this book, but I will say there were some cute moments, spicy moments, and that it absolutely left me in the mood for Halloween.

Do you know what I love in my "Slow burn stalker" dark romance books? Violent confrontation less than 5% in.

Honestly this book was just a train wreck from start to finish. I don't think the author had any clue what they were doing

ARC review

Damn, I loved this book. I really needed a dark romance and this one definitely delivered.
Theon was obsessed with Ainsley, so obsessed and I was here for it (don't judge me). Due to some misunderstanding in the past, he wanted to make her life a living hell, but then he just couldn't do it anymore. He needed her to much to continue to hurt her. Everything he did in his life since seeing her for the first time was with her mind.
Ainsley tried to resist the pull between them, she really did, but there was no use. She was strong and she didn't let Theon do whatever he wanted, she fought back when needed and stood up for herself.
They were two magnets and separating them wouldn't do

Thank you to the author for allowing me to have an ARC of this book in exchange for my review!

This book was gripping from the start. It was dark and twisted with a dual POV (which I love). Both characters were interesting from introductions to ending and I loved to see inside their heads as we learned more context through the entirety of the story.

It is definitely a dark stalker romance - which the name tells you from the start - and you should be mindful of the TWs (as I always point out). Is it the most realistic? No. Do we ever want our dark romance stories to be realistic? Heck no, that takes away the fun and the escape we seek when reading. This was a fun and spicy read. Be sure to check it out!

I had the privilege of being a ARC reader for this AMAZING dark romance. However, read the trigger warnings!

I thought Theon was a stalker weirdo at first. Well, he is. BUT!!! He would do ANYTHING for Ainsley, literally anything. He would set the entire world on fire for her. The whole “touch her and die” thing was taken very seriously.

“There is no flushing you out of my system, Ainsley. Because you are the system itself. Without you, I’d be dead.”

Violet San has an amazing writing style. This was the perfect book to read around Halloween!

Easily a 5 star read!!!

This ARC was delicious. I had no idea that a dark stalker romance was my thing but Theon proved me wrong at every turn. I recommend this book to anyone who wants spice that's definitely spicy but also a book with a plot and characters that have a backstory that's flushed out and no one in the cast of characters was missed. @violetsan_ definitely wrote a book that I will read more than once.

This book had me ADDICTED.
I couldn’t put it down and finished it in one sitting.
Theon’s love for Ainsley is just amazing. Love the whole story, I’ve been in a bit of a book slump lately and this book has brought me out.
Perfect for Halloween, or any time of year!

So I had super high hopes for this Halloween stalker romance, but unfortunately, it felt a bit flat for me. I found either of the main character personalities lacklustre and lacking, the plot confusing yet simple, and the whole book lacked any vibes or atmosphere.

I liked the IDEA that Theon ruined Ainsley's last seven years of life, but she didn't know there was a human behind her misfortunes, and therefore, what was the point? She was miserable, but like....she thought she was cursed? I would've like to have maybe a seed of doubt planted in her mind, something like 'Did I piss someone off so badly that they're trying to ruin me?'
We only really see Theon stalking her for about the first 25%, and even then, it's just him watching cameras? And again, she doesn't know it and even feel 'watched'.
I feel like the timeline was a bit askew, I'm sure I was confused about it because we were in the first week of October and then the second week and then suddenly it was the Halloween party.
I like that he fixed up her house just so that she doesn't live with her gay (or bi🤷‍♀️) neighbour. Oh, that was another thing I was confused about, her guy friend. There was literally no point to that side plot.

I felt like it was super quick how she asked him for help and then how he found that she actually didn't do what he thought she did, and the whole relationship flipped. She also lasted only 2 chapters when she found out that he's the one behind her shitty luck. And all he had to do was get her her dream job 🤷‍♀️ I don't feel like they had any personality at all, I couldn't tell you anything about them beyond he looked at her once in high school and became obsessed and she kinds liked him since then too.

I just....the whole book, for me, lacked the right vibe, and i just didn't gel with it.

I do hope that this author keeps writing, and I'm sure this book will find its fans out there. It just won't be me.

Thank you to Violet for letting me arc review "Locked In".

"She had torn through my life like a storm, and now that she was mine, I'd rip apart anyone who tried to take her from me"

I knew I loved dark romance (let's be honest, I was hooked on Haunting Adeline) but Theon solidified that for me.
"Locked In" is definitely a dark romance thriller, filled with a dark and moody MMC and a FMC that is, unfortunately, indirectly paying a price for something that she did/"didn't" do (I say that with air quotes because you'll find out the actual history between Ainsley and Theon). The duel POV made the story flow smoothly and witnessing Ainsley's rise from the bottom of the trenches to having the life she truly deserves, brings a great amount of justice to our FMC.
This book was definitely a fun read for me and now I can add Theon to the list of book boyfriends that I'm currently "dating".
This book has literally everything you would enjoy from a dark romance, packed into this book. There's also no shortage of characters because you meet them all! Even the lesser known ones that periodically pop up throughout the book. Everyone has a backstory and their stories are fleshed out quite nicely.
If you're looking for spice, well, Theon will have you blushing harder than a nun in a confessional.
All in all, this story gets a 5/5 from me and the fact that it left me wanting more from our FMC and MMC, just goes to show you it's that good. As with any dark romance read, please read the trigger warnings before reading! What I can handle can be different from what you can handle.

"This was it -- my always. I didn't deserve her, but I wasn't the kind of man who let go of what was his. And Ainsley? She was mine in every way that mattered. She always had been. And she always would be" - Theon.

Locked In is a dark stalker romance, with a Halloween theme. I liked the storyline & the plot of this book, even if some parts were quite predictable. Theon’s obsession with Ainsley was amazingly written. Still, there were some things that I disliked & would’ve wanted to be written a bit better.

This book took me almost 10 days to read, the book only being like 300 pages. For those who know me, know that this is a VERY long time for me to finish that short of a book. That is because I’ve been in a HUGE book slump, and note that it can have affected my reading experience.

Locked In started out great, and had me intrigued from the beginning. We got Ainsley, with her miserable life, and Theon, the one who made it miserable. However, it felt like the hate went to love/obsession FAST. And if the obsession still would’ve been a hateful obsession, I would’ve gotten it. But it didn’t really feel like it…

The rest of book was still great though! I was interested in the story, & it had its thrilling points as well.

And now, let’s talk about the smut:
I loved it. This book has one of the hottest smut scenes I’ve ever read.
Read it to find out which one:)

There were times where I would’ve wished that the writing was more in depth, and more… intense, I think the word is?

Overall, this book is definitely a worthy read for anyone who likes dark stalker romances!

Thank you to the author for allowing me to read an advanced reader copy of this book! This is 100% my own honest review.

First of all,...read the trigger warnings y'all. The author does an amazing job of listing out all triggers before her book which is SO appreciated. This is a DARK stalker romance, so take the information and do with it what you will.

Okay, is it unrealistic for the FMC to fall in love with her crazy psycho murderer stalker, yes. Did I eat it up anyway? Sure did. This was a wild ride, and I read this book in 2 days! I stayed up way too late into the night reading. The writing was super engaging and entertaining. I loved how the author really made you question everyone's trustworthy-ness. Because I was even questioning some of the other main character's intentions throughout the entire book. Violet San really had me on the edge of my seat, and I loved that the story really came full circle by the end of it.

Theon is literally insane for Ainsley. He would burn the world down for her, and at one point, he almost did. He's obsessive, passionate, veeeeerrrrryyyy morally gray, and did I mention has a ton of tattoos? We love a bad boy with a back story.

This book takes place during the month of October and leads up until Halloween. Perfect if you're looking for a suspenseful spooky read before Halloween!

Overall rating: 4/5
Spice rating: 4/5 (again, please read trigger warnings before starting this book)

This was my first full-on dark stalker romance, and I think i'm going to have to read some more after this. Please remember and read the trigger warnings before reading!

Violet San's writing sucked me in from the beginning, and I quickly became addicted. We got straight into the action. She did not want to keep us waiting too long before it all started kicking off. This book is dual POV, which I love. Considering what was going on between Ainsley and Theon, the dual POV was so interesting and very much needed as we got to read both of their thoughts and see how they were affected as the plot unfolded.

I loved the character development throughout this book and seeing Ainsley's thoughts and reaction to Theon change as the story progressed. We know Theon is obsessed. That's obvious from the beginning, but the way he cared for her was just so Theon and so cute. The actual plot that was hiding behind all the stalking and the spice had me hooked. I was reluctant to put this book down as I wanted to know what was going to happen next.

I would recommend this book to people who love
- stalker romance
- fiesty FMC
- touch her and 💀
- obsessive MMC
- morally grey MMC
- halloween
- hidden cameras (yes. he's that obsessed)

Thank you so much to the author, Violet San, for allowing me to read an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely loved it!

I want Theon. I NEED Theon. I don't care he's a fucking stalker and murderer and invaded her life in the worst possible ways, I WANT him NOW.

Theon was.. MINE. IS mine. His way with words, his (quote literally) undying love, his rage that turned him into something/someone he come to despise.
Filthy, glorious, kinky Theon 🖤
He did so much wrong and so much good. He ruined her life and built it back up again, making sure she laughed, smiled, lived.

One of the things I loved most was the british-american difference 🤣 what I noticed was that the explanations were mainly british-y and then the dialogues were american-y 🤣

Ainsley was interesting I've got to say, I was surprised, and I loved how by the end she found that strength needed, that rage. She didn't cower.
She's a survivor, she's resilient.

Vin was such a good friend, even though he had no reason to be, they practically just met, but he still did, he still cared, he still helped as much as he could.

Yeah, I recommend it 🖤

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I’m eager to read more!

This was incredible, I did predict who someone was at like 60% but it was still an incredible storyline.
There was a good amount of spice.
I loved how resilient Ainsley is she truly is a fighter and Theon!!! Don’t get me started I think I’m in love 😍
He’s made his way into the top 10 of my book boyfriends 😂 he is obsessive, possessive, protective, hot, did not give any fucks and I just love him!!

On a darkness scale I would say this is mild and would be great for anyone who wanted to start reading dark romance.

100% recommend this book.

Theon, MMC, book boyfriend, the reason I’m going to bring up my desire for strong stalker men in therapy next week. Ainsley the FMC, they complement each other so well.
If you’re looking for a spicy, stalker dark romance, this book is for you.
The book takes a TURN .. I couldn’t put it down.
It’s written in first person and done wonderfully. The storyline is captivating and draws you in. By the end of chapter 2 I knew I wasn’t putting this down until I finished.
Think haunting Adeline meets toxic.
Violet does such a good job bringing this stalker romance to life and the spice is phenomenal.

Locked in de Violet San

Argumento:

If you like stalker romance, you should definitely add this to your TBR! Similar vibes to Haunting Adeline but with less Stockholm Syndrome and still plenty of spice! It was also a nice addition to my spooky October reads since the bulk of the story takes place around Halloween.

The author does an exceptional job of listing the trigger warnings. So before embarking on this journey, please make sure you read them to ensure that you’ll be able to enjoy the story and characters to the fullest.

I read this in two days and stayed up way too late both nights. But it was worth the sacrifice of sleep. I was invested in the characters and where the story was going the whole time. Even though I have some opinions, I still thought it was well worth the read and will be recommending it to others.

Now, let’s get into this a little more!

I found that there was a lot of repetition throughout the book and a few times I had to catch myself and reread sentences or paragraphs because I thought I kept losing my place. It made some parts feel over-explained and I felt that it retracted from the point the author was trying to make and stunted the reader’s imagination. There were definitely some instances where simpler would have been better.

I thoroughly enjoyed Theon’s chapters more than I liked reading Ainsley’s, mostly because Theon’s segments felt more cohesive and put together. He felt like a more developed character overall. I wouldn’t mind reading a book entirely from his POV.

I love me some mysterious morally grey men, though. I’m relieved that he was able to feel remorse for what he did to her and I think his inner-conflict and guilt were well-written in a way that made it relatable. We’ve all made impulsive mistakes before and were forced to face the consequences, just like Theon. It also humanized him a lot, which added a nice balance to some of his more violent tendencies. He was definitely a “I’d burn the world for you” kind of love interest and I really don’t blame Ainsley for being obsessed right back, even if she probably does need serious therapy for it, lol.

As far as characters go, I enjoyed most of them. I will admit that it took me a little while to warm up to Ainsley. I think her character was well-written and she has a very strong personality, but I think that big personality deserved a little more time in the spotlight.

I also almost wish we would have gotten a little more on “eyepatch” and what started this whole thing in the first place. We know what his intentions with Ainsley were, but the segment after the second kidnapping felt kind of lacking. This guy has been stalking her for six years and personally, I had hoped she would have had the opportunity to get some of her own revenge on him instead of just being the damsel in need of rescue. She deserved that closure too.

There was a nice level of spice in this book and all of it was blessedly believable. I didn’t have to question any physics or anatomy. It wasn’t the whole focus, but there was plenty of sexual tension to go around and it was a really nice balance with the plot of the book. Neither one overshadowed the other.

Overall, I really did like the book and I would certainly read more from this author. The plot was a refreshing twist on the dark stalker romance, especially since the MMC isn’t the only stalker the FMC is dealing with. I’m not sure what the author intends in the future, but I wouldn’t mind reading a sequel. There’s still a lot of potential left for the existing characters!

This is the book for anyone who, at the very least, can think at some point that it would be kind of cool to date that one guy who's to the level disturbingly unhealthy in his obsession with you. Theon is basically this one-man "stalker starter pack": he comes pre-installed with cameras, obsession, and a willingness to burn the world down for you. Honestly, I was holding a bouquet of roses expecting the "I've been watching you" monologue or at least something with a bloodied knife. Well, bless her heart, Ainsley falls for this walking red flag mostly because her options are either "lawn chair-obsessed psychopath" or "I'll never text you back." She's a survivor, though. Just maybe don't try this at home, kids.

Violet San is not keeping herself waiting. Five minutes in, and you're knee-deep in creepy love confession by Theon and Ainsley's "WTF is happening?" moment. I'd say the dual POVs are pure genius because nothing screams romance like getting inside the head of a man who wants to literally consume you-not in a fun way. As it goes, she just stops asking questions and assents far too readily that her boyfriend probably is a serial killer-it's that great character development arc, really. Halfway through you're thinking, "Well, this is just ridiculous," but by the end of this book you're gonna be thinking, "Maybe I ought get some hidden cameras. for safety. and my next relationship.".

The plot is kinda predictable. And suspense? Ah, good and well, I guess that's interesting, but you know mostly how it's going to go. Do you care? No. You do so tightly cling to Theon's disastrous infatuation with Ainsley when you are simultaneously Googling stalking of your very own crush just to feel anything again by the time you hit the big reveal. Four out of five for getting me all upset over choosing this existence and then way secretly cheering on this crazed psycho stalker guy to get the girl.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (3/5)

Locked In by Violet San is a gripping and intense Stalker Dark Romance. With its Halloween-themed atmosphere, masked men, and a compelling enemies-to-lovers arc.

The story centers around Theon, a brooding and possessive man with a dark past, and Ainsley, a woman whose life seems to be plagued by misfortune. Theon has been stalking her since their teenage years, driven by a mix of obsession and vengeance. He believes she left him to die during a traumatic rescue mission years ago, and his twisted sense of justice leads him to orchestrate her constant misfortunes. Theon is every bit the morally gray antihero—tattooed, muscular, and undeniably dangerous.

Ainsley, on the other hand, is relatable and resilient. After countless job rejections, she’s forced to return to her hometown, taking on humiliating jobs to make ends meet. When she receives an unusual cleaning job offer with an absurdly high payout, she reluctantly accepts, unknowingly stepping back into the heart of the storm.

The chemistry between Theon and Ainsley is electric, with their relationship evolving from mistrust and fear to something raw and consuming. The "enemies to lovers" and "touch her and die" tropes are expertly woven into the narrative, creating a tension that’s equal parts thrilling and heart-wrenching. The stalking element is dark and intense, adding layers to Theon’s obsession.

Theon’s backstory and his motives for vengeance are compelling, and Ainsley’s journey from despair to strength is satisfying to witness. The spice level is good, with steamy moments that complement the dark and suspenseful tone of the story.

Locked In is good for readers who love pitch black MMCs, dark romance, and a touch of Halloween-inspired mystery.

This is a dark, stalker romance. The guy you think is the bad guy, isn't necessarily the bad guy, but the real bad guy gets what he has coming to him. Please, read the TW and pay attention to your reactions to some of the content.
Theon is obsessed with Ainsley. It started in high school, and 6 years later, it has gotten even worse. You see, Theon thinks that Ainsley left him for dead, when in reality that isn't what happened at all.
Theon disappeared for 6 years, but he was never far from Ainsley. He watched her as she moved on with her life, after thinking that he was dead. She had the worst luck in the world. Couldn't get a job after graduating college. She couldn't make rent, so she had to move back home. The house that her dad left her was falling apart, but at least it was free.
The first time that Ainsley saw Theon, he had lured her to his home with the promise of paying her to clean his house. She didn't know that it was him. When she saw him, she thought that she was seeing a ghost.
Over the next few weeks, they both learn some things about each other. Most importantly, they learn that they love each other, and Theon saves her more times than she knows. He has also been the reason for her string of bad luck, but she eventually forgives him. Overall, this is a great story. I love finding new authors, and I can't wait to read more from this one.

Okay so I really enjoyed this book. I think the plot was super cool, very fitting for spooky season. I liked the stalker aspect of it all and also the hardcore mysteries surrounding our FMC. The MMC, Theon, was a very complex character in my eyes. He is constantly walking the line between hate and love and eventually discovers “hmmm I think I’m mistaking hate for passionate love”. Essentially, he’s always loved the FMC fiercely but just went through a little crisis long the way.

The plot was exciting and creepy and so good. I did not expect the twist and had to take a second so sit and stare at my grey walls because Violet San kinda blew my mind. I’m glad we got a good ending for our main characters, especially with the little things that Theon keeps doing to makeup for 6 years of “bad luck”.

Side note: I am giving this 4 stars because I felt that the pacing of the book was a little off at times, nothing drastic, just that it somehow felt a little rushed despite being 300 pages.

The spice… damn it was hot. Every scene had a dirty feral desperate kind of feel to it which I think fit the couple perfectly.

All in all, this was great and spooky and just what I needed this season.

Much like other stalker romance books, the obsession came out of nowhere, and that’s understandable. You don’t need a reason to be obsessive, right? 🤭

It was all justified when the first part of the book managed to create an eerie feeling and captured well on how Ainsley felt about it.

She should see how feral she was making me, how this lust for her soul was growing stronger, wilder and untameable. How it hasn’t ended. I wanted her to the point of death.

It left me intrigued till the very end because I wanted to know why there was so much hatred and anger Theon felt towards Ainsley. I wouldn’t call this book focusing on a miscommunication trope but rather there were bits and pieces left unanswered because of a tragedy that happened in the past. So, Theon & Ainsley met again to pick up where they left off.

“Breaking you would have been easier. Exhilarating.”
My cheeks flared hot, my pulse hammering in my ears as I caught the unhinged truth swirling in his hazel eyes. It was raw, unfiltered, and terrifyingly familiar. Obsession. It pounded.

There’s revenge involved (but not gore) and some good grovelling - I’s approve. There’s a suspense and thrill towards the end, though it was all predictable.

Overall, this is a great story by Violet. Thank you for sharing with me Ainsley & Theon’s story.

3 solid stars!

**Check Trigger Warnings

Nothing is going right in her life and after so many failed attempts at finding a job, barley scraping by to make ends meet Ainsley is desperate. Not understanding where everything went wrong in her life she is fighting to stay afloat and losing hope fast.

Theon has one thing on his mind and that is torture Ainsley, and revenge. When he finally gives in and they meet face to face after 6 years he realizes his quest for revenge is more than just an obsession. This book has Halloween, stalking, and “touch her & die” what more could you want out of a dark romance. 👀 Did I mention stalking?

This book was hard to put down and I had to force myself to go to sleep! Theon, Theon, Theon he does not care and will do whatever it takes to keep Ainsley safe. Ainsley does her best to resist but Theon knows how woo a girl even if it involves a google search or two. From start to finish this book had me laughing, mad, and on the edge of my seat waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Thank you Violet San for the opportunity to read Locked In before it releases!
