This 6-part series is so fun. We finally get to see into the history of the Morphin Grid. The book opens with a group of friends who seem to have been closer than they currently are, but their clothing conveniently matches those of rangers. There are dinosaur-like creatures! The Dairanger symbol comes up pretty early in the story. The design of this book brings its own style while alluding to rangers throughout the multiverse.

The Phantom Ranger and Dark Specter play a big role in this story, but if you're not too familiar with them you could easily still follow along. This book pairs extremely well with the current ongoing series, but any Ranger fan into the mysteries of the multiverse will enjoy it, too.

The classic Ranger trope of "evil" taking over from within the team plays out well with interpersonal conflicts bubbling to the surface as the group is also trying to save the world as they know it.

The conclusion is epic! The visuals are stunning. There's a queer relationship! There are many panels I have flipped through afterwards because I love how this book looks. I give this collected volume a 5/5.

A good book. A great origin story. Good artwork and story. My only complaint is I don't think enough time was given to each of the characters. I did not get to know much about them it did seem very rushed but there were a lot of Power Ranger fights.

On the Planet 0117 a secret has been unleashed. The secret door has been opened. Now centuries later an invasion has been launched to claim these secrets and power. Of course, some teenagers will fight back and create a legacy.

I think this should have been 8 or 9 issues to get more character development. Aside from that the book was great fun and action-packed. The book finishes with an awesome cover gallery, including variant covers and covers dedicated to the original Power Rangers and the Green Ranger. RIP JDF.

This sounds like it is supposed to be a origin story to the morphin grid but I found it confusing and hard to tell what was going on. There's a lot of messy action sequences where I couldn't understand what was happening then many times where the action is spread across 2 pages which is clunky to switch back and forth on an iPad (I probably need a dedicated comic app). There's not much character development so you don't really understand the different rangers who are tapping into the grid, and using this mysterious Morphinaut character's energy. I thought the first Power Rangers were recruited by Zordon but this seems to contradict that. I think the twist at the end is that they become the Emissaries.

4.5 stars, rounded down:

In all, this is one of the best additions to the Boom Studios Power Rangers comics, which is saying something considering the stellar quality of the rest of the line. The revelations in this series are incredible, and the references to the overarching world of Power Rangers and the connections to the Super Sentai series are incredible for long-time fans. The plot is pretty straightforward until the final chapters, but it is a necessary simplicity for all of the crazy chaotic action happening from page 1. Some absolutely incredible character designs across the board, with the art by Simone Ragazzoni doing an amazing job of bringing this world to life. My one complaint is in backstory. These characters showcase some great personality on the page, but the world of the Morphin Masters, each characters' individual history, is somewhat lost in the shuffle of this action-packed story. We have glimpses into their personal lives, but we don't know all that much outside of their personalities and roles on the page. Also, for a story advertised as "The Origin of the Phantom Ranger," we don't get a whole lot of details about him as a person. We learn how he became what he is, but not the specifics of who he was before the whole "entering the Morphin Grid" situation. Still, these nitpicks aside, this was an incredible journey and one that really does help illuminate some of the stuff going on in the main series.

“Power Rangers Universe” is an origin story that explores the beginnings of the Phantom Ranger, the Power Rangers, and the Morphin Grid, as six teenagers band together to fight a mysterious evil that's destroying colonies and uncover the truth about the Morphaut, who vanished over 500 years ago.

I'm baffled by all the hate this series got - it's like a shot of adrenaline, short and sweet! The characters were awesome, and I loved seeing how they evolved, not just the original Power Rangers crew. My only gripe is that I wanted more Phantom Ranger action and a deeper dive into his backstory, but overall, I'm not too bummed about it.

The show highlights the Rangers' unique contributions to the team, paying homage to the original Power Rangers series. Each Ranger has a distinct personality: Ori, the Blue Ranger, is the genius; Rhian, the Red Ranger, is the leader, although her leadership skills aren't always evident; Phiro, the Yellow Ranger, is always up for an adventure and has a sweet personality. Twin brothers Xev and Telosi, the Black and Green Rangers, are the strong and tough ones. Aleia, the Pink Ranger, is the heart of the team and shines with her amazing support for her friends.

Overall, the story was a thrilling ride, filled with empowering moments, unexpected twists and turns, and a conclusion that was both epic and wonderfully surprising, with huge sacrifices that left us with hope and a renewed sense of teamwork.

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1⚡️2

Who is the Phantom Ranger? A question that has plagued the Power Rangers fandom for many, many years. And now, at least, a concrete answer, as well as the origins of the Morphin' Masters to boot.

It's a hard thing, to introduce seven new characters to a well-established universe and make us care about them. Nicole Andelfinger does a great job of it though. The Morphinaut and his new companions wage war against Dark Specter and his forces, tying the series neatly into the ongoing continuity of the main Power Rangers series and the TV shows. Even though we know that there's not going to be a happy ending for anyone here, it doesn't stop you wanting to root for them, even with the chips so firmly stacked against them.

Simone Ragazzoni's artwork is pretty great. He's probably drawn the highest number of Rangers after this series (except perhaps Dan Mora, or one of the Shattered Grid artists), and he never falters, no matter what Andelfinger's plot throws his way.

Power Rangers Universe really does what it says on the tin - it expands on existing continuity, solves some questions, poses some others, and has fun and looks good doing it. A well worth addition to the canon.

The prequel of the universe of Power Rangers.
I liked it. seeing the first team of power rangers came to life was fun. Unfortunately, the story is kind of clunky, we don’t know much about the main antagonist, the world building is lacking. It seems to have a lot to say with the power of the grid and the galactic civilization but never really explain anything.

Art was great and there is some really interesting panels.

Nice entry point for power rangers comics I’d say, no need of prior knowledge.

Bonus point for the chara design, they are top notch

Starting my chronological read through of the BOOM! Power Rangers comics. This was a fun look at the very beginning of PR lore. I especially liked the suit designs and the origin of the Phantom Ranger. This felt too drawn out for me and was like 80% technobabble and the other portion was cheesy one liners. Pretty shallow overall. I think it would have been better if it was shorter. The art is nice! And it is cool to see the dairanger inspired suits.

A little hard to follow - particularly if you’re only familiar with the mmpr story arc. I did enjoy it and the artwork is really nice . Happy to have read it and the hardcover itself has a good weight to it .

Was so close to quitting this after just two issues. It's hard to care about the characters and it's exposition heavy. Once they finally morph, it gets a lil better, and seeing the Dairanger suits was really cool, but by then, it was too little too late.

3.5 rounded down.

I'm not really big on the phantom ranger and this was mostly serving as a way to explain his existence. The art was great and the story was decent, it just didn't connect with me the way the main series does.

It's nice. I like the art and the story. There are some problems like a lack of information, but besides that, its a good prequel.
