In this fierce game of love and power, there’s only one rule—never back down. But what happens when falling for the competition is the riskiest move of all?
Nooo!
I did the audiobook and the narrator’s voice is what killed it for me. She changed her voice when speaking for Cassandra, and her voice was such a huge turn off. So awkward. Trying to be deep but just sounding cringe. I think I would have enjoyed this more with a better narrator or dual narrators.
Oof. I really expected more from Emily Hayes. In my professional opinion as both an author and information specialist who conducts significant Professional Development on AI, this book was written with AI. It lacks the typical flow and emotion that Hayes projects, and it's algorithm is definitely AI. There was no real connection between the characters. No real chances for them to fall in love. Very surface level and confusing. I would not recommend.
This is an amazing story with as many ups and downs as a rollercoaster but hang on, keep reading, and you'll raise your arms over your head and yell Yahoo! when they finally get it together. Then the epilogue pulls you into the end of the glorious ride with a sigh of satisfaction. Don't miss out on this story.
Emily Hayes is a master writer of the ice queen melting! The characters are strong women, sexy as shit and smart! I love the growth spurts she writes as the ice seems to crack and melt, the confusion that grips the character is so well developed and feels real. The only conclusion for the character is to grab their woman with all their heart and hang on!
Enjoyed this read. I actually liked these two more than the first story. Different setting and different reasons for them meeting and falling for each other, but the "Ice Queen" in this was more forgivable for her snide way of carrying herself.
This book was quickly paced but didn't all come together for me. It felt like it was missing a humanness or connection that I think I've seen in other books by this author. If you're looking for spice and don't care about the plot, you'll be fine.
If you’re wanting to pick up a book that goes hard on the “ice queen” trope, this is definitely the one, but be mindful that an overarching theme for the majority of the book is a D/s relationship. If that tickles your fancy, this book is perfect for you.
Emily I loved the book. I was a little surprised with the ending unless it continues in the next book. I still enjoyed it and look forward to the next one.
I absolutely love books by this author but not this one. I felt this book was very rushed and not well developed . I didn’t feel the connection between the two main characters albeit strong woman in the fashion industry. Their emotions and actions did not flow well. One minute they’re confused and dislike each other and in the next minute they’re having outrageous public sex that contradicts their previous emotions. Haphazard and confusing and made me feel nothing for these characters
