She’s been through hell and back. Does she have it in her to make a final sacrifice?
Ania was only nineteen when her entire life was turned upside down by war.
Separated from her twin sister, Michalina, and everyone she knows and loves, it’s all she can do to wake up every day and go on with life in the Warsaw Ghetto, never knowing what her fate will bring. It’s been months since she’s had word from Michalina, and every second brings her closer to despair.
Until she meets the children.
The orphaned children of the ghetto give Ania precisely what she needs – a purpose. They fill the void left by the absence of her family, and she, in turn, whispers magical stories of a fairytale world where there is no war.
But when word of her sister finally comes from the terrifying Treblinka extermination camp, Ania must make a fateful choice. Will she be strong enough to make the ultimate sacrifice to save her children?
I loved this book, it showed that even in war and such horrible times love and friendship still lived on. And even though the Germans tried to destroy a people there light still shone.
After having read the other book in this series I was a little let down. Having finished this , the second book in the series I am pleased at how everything turned out. Sadly though I think it is a little unrealistic to think that with all of the deaths that the Germans caused in WW2 , that this large of a group wouldn't have lost more than they did. Especially since they lived in Poland where so many people were eliminated and so my families totally annihilated. It is an authors right though to use poetic license and see their world as they would like it to be. That would be a so much nicer world.
This story was awesome. It took me into another era, another world, and had me crying at the end when the land was silent from the guns of war and the horrors that they all suffered.
This is the sequel to the powerful twins of war story. and it continues in the same strong and emotional way the first one did Excellent and with a good ending
This book was wondering good, I have several people who love books like this! It is a must read! The author had me from the first word. Thank you for writing them!
