Codename Wolfe is the first book in the Omega series by J.R. Tootill. This contemporary romantic suspense had me hooked from the start. It ticked off all my "good crime thriller" boxes and added a heavy dose of romance to the mix. I love an unhinged serial killer story, and this one hit just right. Let’s not forget the spice, which was indeed spicing! J.R. goes straight on my “must read everything they write” list.

The audiobook is wonderfully narrated in duet by Maxine Mitchell and Sebastian York. Joe Arden has a delightfully unhinged cameo performance. You definitely can’t go wrong with any of these narrators. The emotions were felt deeply, no denying that. A top-tier audiobook.

HOLY WOW what a book!

J.R. Tootill is a new to me author and she did not disappoint! I sometimes struggle with 3rd person POV but the way this one was written, it kept me intrigued and invested in the story.
The two main characters are kind of everything and I loved every second of them! I loved Leda and Tuc’s meeting at the beginning and the build up of their relationship throughout the story. I absolutely loved all of the side characters! I also loved the healing that the Leda experienced from beginning to end and how she became so much stronger and accepting by the end!

The narration was absolutely phenomenal and done in duet style which is my fav! Maxine Mitchell was the perfect voice for Leda! She showed off her tough side but also let her softer side shine when it needed to. Maxine nailed every aspect of this character and had me loving Leda and cheering her on from the very beginning. Then there’s Sebastian York and as soon as heard him as Tuc, I was done for lol he was the quintessential choice for this character and also did a stunning job at giving every side character their own voice. These two are one of my favorite narrator duos and they pair so well together! Last but certainly not least, we have Joe Arden who voices Ben Holden and man does he do the deranged, unhinged characters SO WELL! Three of my favorite voice actors on one project?! I am one happy human!

I was given an ARC for Codename: Wolfe written by JR Toothill that was produced by Blue Nose Audio. And just wow! The narrators did so well bringing the characters to life and their intensity and emotions for the characters were so perfect. I automatically fell in love with Tuc and Leda’s relationship and their ability to learn to conquer their demons together. Leda and Tuc each have their own deep seeded issues that you get to see them work through in this story. Sebastian York as Tuc and Maxine Mitchell as Leda were absolute bosses in this, I am constantly blown away by the performances they provide. The fear that Maxine delivered for Leda could be felt and the protectiveness of Tuc shined through by Sebyo. Ben, played by Joe Arden, was creepy and detached in the best possible way for a serial killer and his performance was superb and delivered in tenfold even for just a cameo. Seriously, don’t miss out on hearing this performance and story. It’ll keep you pulled in the whole time, with twists and suspense.
JR is a new author to me and I cannot wait to finish the series. The complexity with which she writes her characters is beautiful and the plot is chef’s kiss. If you like suspenseful stories and trying to figure out which way the plot is going you will enjoy this read.

If you love the tv show, CSI with a side of romance you will love this book. Leda is a FBI profiler working on a serial killer case that involved three dead women. The clues are not adding up so she decides to take a quick break from the case at a local bar. There she meets Agent Wolfe. He offers to buy her a drink, which leads to dinner and an overnight stay together. The more time they spend together the closer they get.

J.R. Tootill is a new to me author. I enjoyed the author's storytelling style. There was a good mix of action, steam and drama. The audiobook is incredible! Performed in duet with Maxine Mitchell and Sebastian York with cameo from Joe Arden. These three were phenomenal. They all fit their characters persona so well. The characters personalities shown through the narrators tone and emotion. Highly recommend the audiobook!

This book was so good, I was engaged and on the edge of my seat through the whole thing. There were no 'filler chapters', at no point was I bored and waiting for more action. It was a ride from start to finish.

I listened to the audiobook which is duet narration and the narrators were absolute perfection in these roles. All 3 of them brought these characters to life and made me fall in love with them.

If you're not sure, based on the blurb, that this book is for you I'd say just read or listen to the prologue. That prologue grabs you by the damn throat and drags you in, and the story just never lets you go.

Cannot recommend it enough and I'm so excited to continue this series.

I received an ALC of this audiobook and this first exposure to this author. I’m very much a jump in without reading the blurb kind of reader and this story surprised me. Sebastian York is always a great narrator for military MMC’s. This audiobook book showed a lot of that talent that I don’t feel I get to hear often enough. Maxine Mitchell brought all the emotion for a very complex FMC that made me love her even when I was yelling at her to stop being so blind. The addition of the Ben POV narrated by Joe Arden added that creepy factor that let the reader see all the angles of this story. The third person writing often takes me a moment to adjust to, but it definitely fit this story. It kept me hooked and e me want to read the rest of the series.

Bring on the romantic suspense that features a serial killer. Yes, I am that crazy person that loves to delve into the mind of them and just see what is there. This is my first JR Tootill book, and I was all in from the start. Meet Tuc and Leda, the two FBI agents on the case, with Tuc coming to Philly for a funeral an hoping to hand the case over to Leda. But their instant connection had him staying not just to solve the case, but for other reasons as well. Leda is all about finding this killer. A survivor herself, this is triggering so many memories, but it makes her want to solve it even more. The romance is growing, but the danger of this case is coming right to the team. I could not get enough of this book. From the back stories of the characters, dealing with relevant issues, the high suspense and the love story, it just has me wanting the next book! I cannot wait!

Sebastian York and Maxine Mitchell. That is all I have to say to let you know just how good the narration is. The duet style let me know exactly what character is speaking and created the world I could escape into. Add in the Joe Arden narration, and I am sold. He plays his part perfectly. This is an amazing listen!

This book was so good. It kept me engaged and I wasn’t bored. Maxine Mitchell is incredible in the role of leda. Sebastian york did amazing in his role as tuck. He is really good at portraying military men. Joe Arden’s role as the villain was incredible. My only flaw was sometimes the audio and words of the page didn’t match and was told in third person POV but overall i enjoyed definitely want to finish the series.

What a ride. I’m apparently in my FBI era now. My very first J.R Tootill book and I might have a new author I’m obsessed with.

The story and the narration was absolutely amazing. I couldn’t stop listening once I started. Joe Arden as the “bad guy” in this was perfect. I am a sucker for Maxine Mitchell and Sebastian York. What an amazing duet this was.

This is my first book written by J.R. Tottill and I enjoyed her writing style, the originality of the story she created, all its layers, as well as the complexity of the characters. The story not only grabbed my attention and captivated it the entire time, but it tugged at my heartstrings too. This story brings together two FBI agents working on the same serial killer case, Agent Bradley “Wolfe” Tucker, aka Tuc, who works in the Seattle office and Agent Leda Bailey, who works in Philadelphia. Tucker was the original agent on the case, and it has been frustrating for him because the killer has evaded him in every step, but now that the killer has moved on to Philly he is hoping to pass the case over to the lead agent in that office. Tucker, a former SEAL, attended a funeral for one of his team members on his way to Philly and he did not take his death well, because he felt like he did not do enough for him and the first thing he did in Philly as go to the bar to drown his sorrows. Leda has her own history with serial killers and this recent case is bringing up ghosts from her past and triggering her PTSD. She goes out to drown her own sorrows and to find someone to spend time with, and that someone turns out to be Tuc. There was an instant connection and the chemistry between them was smoking hot, since neither shared details about themselves neither knew they would be coworkers until after. It was great to watch these two get to know each other, battle their inner demons, all while navigating a work relationship and trying to solve the case. When the killer makes a move and brings danger right to their door, the team works diligently, trying to track him down and save one of their own. There is never a dull moment in the book, the story is cleverly plotted with the perfect balance of drama, angst, mystery, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. The world building and character growth and development are fantastic and I loved the developments at the end, which leads to a new and exciting beginning for the characters and series. J.R. Tootill, thank you for this great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 J.R. Tootill chose the perfect cast, Maxine Mitchell, Sebastian York, and a cameo appearance by Joe Arden, to bring her characters and story to life. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound. York absolutely nails it as Tucker, grasping every aspect of his personality, from his despair and inner turmoil to his caring and protective side. Mitchell is just as amazing in her role as Leda, showcasing her personality perfectly, from when she battles her inner demons and PTSD, to her fierceness and determination. Arden nails it in his role as Ben, the deranged serial killer, jumping from a nice, soft-spoken guy to a madman in the blink of an eye. They were fabulous performing the voices of all the secondary characters, too. You could hear how much heart they put into their performance as they captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their performance elevates the story to another level. Thank you for another amazing listen.

This is my first book by J. R. Tootill, and what a discovery it was! Honestly, she deserves way more hype because this story had everything I love in a romantic suspense. The character building was on point, the plot had real depth, and the representation of PTSD and disability was beautifully done—layered, respectful, and real.

The audiobook made the whole experience even better. It’s a full duet style for all the characters, and you really can’t go wrong with narrators like Maxine Mitchell, Sebastian York, and Joe Arden. The emotions they conveyed were raw and powerful—I felt every single one. This production absolutely deserves more likes and reviews.

I actually stumbled upon this series after seeing a TikTok about the last audiobook, and since I have a little TOC when it comes to reading order, I had to start with book one. And let me tell you, I was not disappointed. From the very beginning, this contemporary romantic suspense pulled me in. The writing is complex in the best way, the pacing sharp, and the blend of romance and danger completely addictive. If you like trying to piece together clues and following a serial killer storyline while also getting swept into a romance, you’ll love this one.

The thing that grabbed my attention the most about this book was the main characters. They stole the show. Leda had a strong, sassy vibe that I loved. I thought her character growth was shown perfectly after what happened to her in the past. Then Tuck, I mean, what can I say about him. I absolutely adored him. I thought he brought such light into Leda's world, and I loved how their relationship progressed. Their banter was also well written.

The only thing I found that I didn't like, was that it was written in 3rd person, but that's a me thing, because usually I can't get into the characters heads enough to be fully submersed into the story, but J.R. did a great job making sure the reader really got a glimpse into their minds. At first, the three POVs were a lot, but after a while, it blended it nicely.

The audio is done in duet style, which a lot of people have gravitated towards. The production of this book was probably one of the best that I've heard. Maxine Mitchell and Sebastian York really embraced these two characters, and as always, Maxine, in my opinion, always delivers on the emotional side of a character. You really feel it. This is only my second book with Sebastian, and I enjoy the way he tells a story. He sucks you in. And to add the third POV, which was narrated by Joe Arden, and let me tell you, Joe can do unhinged so well and keeps getting better at it with each book.

Overall, this was an easy read for me, which I liked. I found myself loving the story, and especially as I said, the MCs really stole the show.

Let me start by saying that Sebastian and Maxine KILLED this! They fit these characters so well. Their chemistry is fantastic. I love the way they fit together. Such Talented talented narrators!

This story was absolutely incredible. Tuc and Leda were a dream pair! I'm a sucker for a "He Falls First" trope, and this hit just right. The spice was incredible. It was almost always romantic, from the moment he fell!

The story was so much more than the spice. We all love spice, but the actually plotline was so well put together, and believable. There were real elements of profiling a serial killer present, and uncovering clues left and right. The way we had a few chapters through the eyes of the serial killer was also a really nice touch. I deserved seeing inside his twisted head, and getting his back story. It's what I love most about Criminal Minds. As they search and profile, more and more of the killers early life, and current life, are revealed. I like getting a bit of information about why they might be the way they are.

I loved the mental health representation here. You don't often find books that handle it so well. We truly saw the characters start to heal as we got further into the story, and I loved watching that unfold. I loved seeing how they healed each other.

I would highly recommend this book to individuals who want a little thrill. It's not overtly graphic. I cannot wait to read the rest of the series!!!

I finished listening to the audiobook and I genuinely thought, "No notes." This book is engaging, well-written, well-paced, and clearly thought out. The story is deep, a romantic suspense story mixed together with a psychological thriller. The two main characters, Leda and Tuc, have instant chemistry and he falls first. Zero surprises there when Leda is a badass female FBI Agent with an "Alien (prosthetic) Hand" who has already survived one serial killer. Tuc is a retired SEAL who carries a lot of baggage about losing most of his team on a mission. The two are quiet the match.

J.R. Tootill created an enthralling story, with in-depth characters that you sometimes aren't sure if you should trust, and the main characters share that sentiment. The audiobook is a masterpiece of duet narration starring Maxine Mitchell and Sebastian York, with a cameo by Joe Arden. Maxine's performance is flawless as usual, really leaning into the heavy emotions when needed, but not over done. I dare say this is the best Sebastian York performance I've ever heard. He's not one for really differentiating his voice a lot for characters, but he very clearly put a lot of effort and paid attention to detail in this performance. Joe Arden plays the serial killer and literally gave me shivers just listening to him. The audio is perfection.

If I could rate this book 6 stars out of 5, I would. Thank you to Blue Nose Audio for giving me a copy so I could leave an honest review. It should be the next book on EVERYONE's TBL!

From J.R. Tootill comes a fantastic, well-written, and enthralling story in Codename: Wolfe. This was my first book by Tootill, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The pace of this book was perfectly thought out and executed by the author and the narrators that brought the story to life. It was the perfect blend of romantic suspense and psychological thriller. Our hero and heroine are the perfect match for each other, one is a kickass FBI agent, while the other is retired Navy SEAL. They have instant, off the charts chemistry, and surprise surprise, he falls first. It’s all well and good but these two come with their own hefty baggage, from a prosthetic limb and PTSD to losing one’s entire team on a mission. Buckle up and get ready for Leda Bailey and Bradley “Wolfe” Tucker to take you on a wild ride.

This audiobook is narrated by the spectacular duo, Maxine Mitchell and Sebastian York with a cameo from Joe Arden. Maxine’s performance as Leda was top notch. She flawlessly delivered every bit of emotion from light end of the spectrum to the very heavy. Sebastian York was absolutely amazing, and this is probably one of my favorite narrations of his. The distinction between all the voices of Tuc’s team members was phenomenal. I’ve heard it said that this may be his best performance to date, and I would wholeheartedly agree with them. Joe Arden does what he does best in his small cameo appearance. His pops into this story as our serial killer and he gives listeners are chills and shivers down their spines.

“Codename Wolfe" by J.R. Tootill is a fun mix of suspense, romance, and action that keeps you hooked from start to finish. The story follows Tuc and Leda, two FBI agents who team up to solve a string of murders.

One of the standout aspects of this audiobook is Queen Maxine Mitchell’s performance. She really brings the characters to life, nailing the humor, tension, and emotions. She does an especially great job with Leda, capturing her strength and toughness perfectly.

The chemistry between Tuc and Leda is off the charts, with their snappy, witty banter being a major highlight. They’re a perfect match in stubbornness and wit, and their relationship develops naturally. There’s a little bit of spice, but the main focus is on the suspense and mystery, which keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Tootill’s writing, paired with the killer narration, creates an immersive experience. The pacing is spot-on, with just the right amount of tension and twists to keep things interesting. The action scenes are thrilling, and the emotional moments are handled with care, striking a nice balance.

Joe Arden’s character might make you feel a little uneasy, but that just shows how good he is at voice acting. He really nails it, making the character feel super real.

All in all, "Codename Wolfe" is definitely worth a listen—if only to hear Queen Maxine Mitchell banter with Sebastian York and experience a creepy Joe Arden in the mix.

Codename Wolfe was my first book by J.R. Tootill and I need more! J.R. Tootill does not hold back with the thrilling suspense or spice! Leda Bailey is back to work after a traumatic job gone wrong, but she can’t shake the shadow of the past. Agent Bradley “Wolfe” Tucker is haunted by a case he can’t solve. When Tuc heads to Philly to consult on a case, a short visit may be the shakeup his stagnant life needs. I liked these two from the start; Leda is slow to trust, but Tuc is the exception and Tuc doesn’t do relationships, but one night with Leda and he’s instantly infatuated. I enjoyed J.R.’s storytelling style, it kept me on edge from cover to cover. If you like a pulse-pounding romantic suspense with a lovable chosen family and badass MCs, Codename Wolfe needs a spot on your TBR.

Sebastian York and Maxine Mitchell were amazing as Tuc and Leda. Their impassioned performances brought this rollercoaster love story to life flawlessly. Sebastian’s low, gravelly, and seasoned timbre were perfect for the weathered and seductive Tuc. Maxine brought the relentless and broken Leda off the page with a captivating performance. Joe Arden’s characterization was chilling and will give you goosebumps! Sebastian and Maxine brought their A+ games to the booth to bring J.R.’s awesome story to life!

Audio Review!

Wow - just wow!

This is #1 of the #TheOmegaseries and is a standalone.

This book just blew me away. I love romantic suspense and this one grabs you by the seat of your pants and doesn't let go until the epilogue!

As you will appreciate, however, with serial killers involved there are triggers, so be warned as this story is definitely not for the fainthearted.

Both Tucker and Bailey are damaged goods - Tucker is an ex navy seal with a story to tell and Bailey is a survivor of a serial killer, which has left her with a prosthetic hand.

Now, as FBI agents working in Seattle and Philadelphia, they now have to work together to find a serial killer before he strikes again!

The plot is excellent, the team is so good and I loved Syd! In fact, I found the book faultless, so anyone looking for a rollercoaster ride with an HEA, look no further!

The #duetnarration was sublime with #MaxineMitchell #SebastianYork and #JoeArden (you couldn't ask for a better narrator for Ben, the serial killer)!

I can't recommend the book highly enough and now can't wait to listen to the rest of the series!!

This is Book 1 in the Omega Security Series by JR Tootill. This is a romantic suspense book, leaning more towards the romance element.

The FMC Leda is an FBI profiler working on a serial killer case in Philadelphia with her team. She is complicated, strong, vulnerable, and has a prosthetic hand from a previous case. The MMC is Seattle FBI agent Tuck, an ex seal with his own baggage, including PTSD. The agents come together to work on the case as the killer has changed his hunting ground.

I really enjoyed this book. It is a beautiful and very mature love story of two strong and guarded people who fall in love and start to heal each other. I loved how the mental health and disability rep was dealt with and was integral to the story. I also loved that she saves herself. Tuck deserves his HEA with his strong bionic girl 🥰

This was a narration treat indeed. Three of my favourite narrators on the same book with Maxine Mitchell as Leda, Sebastian York as Tuck, and Joe Arden as the serial killer. This audio was perfectly cast 👌❤️🎧

I've purchased Book 2 already, and Im looking forward to Skeets' story. This series is made up of interconnected standalones, and they all have amazing narrators!

Codename: Wolfe is book #1 in The Omega series and I couldn't get enough of this one. Tuck is a former SEAL (codename Wolfe) now working for the FBI. The serial killer case that he was unable to solve haunts him, until a call from Philadelphia with similar victims gives him the chance to hand it off and leave it in the past. Leda is the lead agent in Philly and isn't looking forward to any "outside" help on the case.

We get a little background on Tuck's military buddies and what haunts them. We get Leda's traumatic past and the team that supports her. We also get the POV of the serial killer with his sordid past. The intrigue, suspense, and steamy times made this a binge listen for me!

The narration is pure gold. Sebastian York is Tuck, with his gruff exterior, but big ol' heart. Queen Maxine Mitchell is Leda, the tough talking agent with self-esteem issues. Joe Arden cameos as Ben, the serial killer, and gives the totally-creeped-me-out performance we expect. 5/5 stars for this trio!

I listened to Codename: Wolfe, which is produced by Blue Nose Audio, written by JR Toothill and performed by Sebastion York, Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden. This grabbed my attention from the beginning. Sebyo is 100 percent Tuc with his deep and strong voice. Leda is dealing with a traumatic past and even though she is one tough chick, she is vulnerable to her demons. Maxine delivers the vulnerability and emotion perfectly for Leda’s voice. What can I say for Joe Arden’s portrayal of the villain in this story except for holy wow! His voice was perfection and portrayed Ben’s personality of serial killer so well. His ability to tap into a darker character is chef’s kiss.
I thoroughly enjoyed JR’s writing and this story of mind over matter, learning to trust not only in your team, but in yourself as well, and finding strength in the face of fear. I absolutely love this audiobook and hope to hear more. Please check this audiobook out if you like crime stories mixed with romance, incredible narration, and an intriguing story line

This was my first J.R. Tootill's book, and won't be my last. This is the first book in The Omega Series, a dark Romantic Suspense. Tuc and Leda's story is entertaining, suspenseful, and captivating. Tuc is handsome, supportive, and protective. Leda is beautiful, enigmatic, smart, and determined. They are both FBI agents. I liked the instant attraction, the slow burn romance, and the sizzling chemistry. The supporting characters are intriguing. The storyline is complex, fast-paced, and enthralling, filled with mystery, action, danger, and twists and turns. The story is told from multiple POV's, which is great. Maxine Mitchell and Sebastian York's duet narration is perfection. They are perfect as Tuc and Leda. They did an outstanding job bringing these characters and this story to life. Joe Arden did a great job as Ben. This is a great team author/narrators. Looking forward to listening to the next book in the series. #BlueNoseAudio

I just devoured Code Name Wolfe by JR Tootill and I'm still reeling from the experience! The writing is top-notch, with a story that's both twisty and easy to follow - no small feat! The chemistry between Leda and Tuc is palpable, their relationship building from a spark to a full-on inferno that had me hooked. And the supporting cast? Fantastic! Each character adds depth and complexity to the story, making it feel so real and immersive. I loved watching Leda grow from a vulnerable soul to a strong, empowered woman - it was like cheering on a friend! The narration was superb, with Maxine Mitchell and Sebastian York delivering performances that felt genuine and authentic. And let's not forget Joe Arden's chilling cameo as Ben Holden - wow! Overall, Code Name Wolfe is a heart-pumping, emotional rollercoaster that will leave you gasping for more. I gave it 4 stars because third person pov is not really my cup of tea but the book was still so amazing.

Starts off with heroine Leda. Try and stay with it. It's a tough start to this intense story. This is definitely in the Romantic Suspense genre'.
"Tuck" and Leda meet when neither saw it coming. I especially love this part, since it's so natural. Tuck and Leda have a couple chapters before he finds out what she's been through/going through.
Duet narration Maxine Mitchell & Sebastian York -were perfectly cast. I love their narrating so much.
I thought that this was a new to me author. I heard about this book on Facebook. I went to check it out. I found out that I already owned it ! I had it in my Audible library. Winner !
Leda is a really tough person. She meets her match with Tuck. Leda and Tuck have great chemistry.
Steamy while battling and hunting the bad guys.
I think that this book and the series should be getting way more attention.
Be sure to check your triggers. Great ending and epilogue.
I'd love to read more from this author.

This novel maintained a steady pace of action and intrigue, keeping boredom at bay throughout the experience. JR Toothill, a new author to me, has created a story with a commendable level of complexity, particularly in the characterization, which adds depth to the narrative. I am curious to see how the series develops and may consider listening to future books as they become available in audio format.

The audiobook features a duet narration by Maxine Mitchell, Sebastian York, and Joe Arden, with whom I am quite familiar. While their performances met my expectations, I found myself craving more dynamism from Mitchell and York, as I have listened to numerous books narrated by them.

Maxine Mitchell brings Leda to life, capturing her absolute boss persona with a balanced mix of authority and underlying fear. Sebastian York's portrayal of Tuc is effective, presenting a stoic and proud character yet tinged with a protective edge. Joe Arden delivers a chilling performance as Ben, masterfully navigating the conflicting personalities and detached manners that make your skin crawl.

Overall, Codename: Wolfe is a thrilling listen that delivers on its promise of excitement and suspense. While I had a minor desire for a bit more variation from the narrators, their steady and reliable performances did justice to the gripping story.

A bad ass fmc who doesn’t need anyone to save her . A hot ex navy seal that respect her but is also alpha man and protective. DELICIOUS!!

God the narration was so incredible!

Maxine Mitchell is my favorite female narrator! God I seriously love her work !

Sebastian York as our alpha male was Amazing

And Joe Arden as our deranged un sub
Was just a perfection sandwich!

I couldn’t stop listening to this book, and when I absolutely had to I was immediately thinking about it .

Ending was great! I definitely need the rest of this series immediately. This author is so talented. This was my first book from them but definitely not my last !
