Slaying for Sloan
The third installment in the Wrecked series, featuring Sloan. This novella can be read as a standalone.He is my hunter in this twisted game. I am his prize, and he’s hungry to claim me.
This Christmas was supposed to be special, but without my best friend by my side, it feels like a cruel joke. I thought spending the holidays with my boyfriend’s family would fill the void, but after a fight that escalated too far, I was ready to pack my shit and leave.

Compared to the first duet in this series, I enjoyed this book much more. However, instead of feeling like a natural continuation, it read like a holiday-flavored retelling. 🎄🖤✨

♡ What I loved most:
• The Christmas atmosphere: it was immaculate. It was so Christmassy, and the holiday atmosphere was everywhere — woven into the plot, the world, the decor, and even the clothing. The festive setting added such a strong contrast to the darkness 🎄
• The game Asher prepared: the hunt itself was incredibly hot and had me genuinely excited to see it unfold. The anticipation was delicious 🔥
• The suspense: I was genuinely holding my breath alongside Sloan most of the time. The tension kept me locked in and on edge 🤭
• The spice: so, so good. No notes here 🌶️
• The obsessed MMC: Asher was painfully obsessed with Sloan, and I ate up every single one of his POVs 🖤
✘ What I didn't love:
• Sloan’s materialism: I don’t expect every FMC to be the embodiment of perfection and kindness, but the sheer amount of remarks that made Sloan sound shallow really irked me 💸
• Repeated internal monologues: while it wasn’t anything major, I noticed several lines of thought being repeated three or four times on the same page, and it became a little annoying hearing the same thing over and over again 🔁
• “Roaring” during spicy scenes: I am begging — let roaring stay in 2025 🫠🚫
• The blasphemy: I am not religious myself, so I don’t mind atheist views or characters; however, I do respect any religion, and this line was just wild to me 😬
• The plot similarity to Carving for Cara: This felt less like a continuation and more like a Christmas-themed remake. The plot beats were almost identical — obsessed masked man, hunting game, final identity reveal

Compared to the first duet in this series, I enjoyed this book much more. It kept all the good elements while removing many of the weaker ones, and the improvement between the two was noticeable and appreciated.
That said, it ultimately felt too similar to what came before. Instead of feeling like a natural continuation, it read like a holiday-flavored retelling — and the small things that annoyed me made it harder to fully enjoy. So while this book was definitely a big improvement, it didn’t give me the fresh story I was hoping for. I will continue with the second book of the duet, in the hope that the story finally shifts and evolves there.

OKAYYYY, WE ARE BACK IN BUSINESS FOLKS!! Slaying for Sloan was actually better than Carving for Cara and Little Nightmare combined, who would've thought.
A large part of that is definitely due to Asher, who was a really great love interest, he knew how to treat Sloan right / the way she wanted to be treated and made sure she would always be safe (unlike Alex, ahem).
I had a feeling it would end the way it did, for maximum cliffhanger effect, and I'm not mad about it. Even though the next book isn't due till December...but I'll absolutely be reading it when it drops.
Also, I like how it feels like a standalone, despite being set in the same world as Cara's story, as they're best friends etc. You truly don't need to have to read those books to enjoy this one.

The story of this book revolves around a lady, Sloan. She is spending Christmas with her boyfriend (who's a bitch), but they argue and break up. But the next morning she receives a gift with instructions for a game (which is totally unholy).
This book is a dark romance novella and some people may not like it as it is very dark but I love reading such books so I totally enjoyed reading this book.
This book is similar to the Cat and Mouse duet but less unhinged.

EXCUSE ME! Why is this a novella? I need more. I need more details, more explanations, more, more, more. Yes, this is me whining like Veruca Salt from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Lol

Asher Adams is positively delicious. He’s insane, psycho, and oh so very merry. He loves to play games and is everything you want as a boyfriend in a murder-y stalker Christmas novella. He is also very simple he only has 4 rules, love a man who is to the point, who knows how to treat a woman, and who also takes control. Also who doesn’t want to be chased through a religion-loving small town being fvcked in varying places?

I have never read a book so dark and twisted, but also Christmas-y. Don’t get me wrong I see the TW list as a checklist, so I 100% ate this up and loved this as my first holiday book of the season. I loved the cute holiday cheers mixed with an obsessive twisted man, who is willing to do anything for her and hurt Anyone who disrespects her or is a little bitch. (cough Alex cough) This book gave The Nightmare Before Christmas type of vibes like we can’t tell if this is a holiday or Halloween novel, but if you are like me Nightmare Before Christmas is totally acceptable during both spooky and snowy seasons. I am SO excited for the continuation of this duet (I think it’s a duet). The cliffhanger that I was left on, I need to know what Sloan thinks about her boyfriend's big brother (Who is 1000% better than him) fvcking the life out of her, while she didn’t even know it was him, mmmmmm very delicious indeed.
This is the first book I have ever read from Melissa or Dana but that won’t stay like that for long. I going to go read Craving for Cara and Little Nightmare right now.
I did receive a free copy of this book as an ARC reader, this in no way changed my opinion of the novella I read in an hour.

-so so GOOD the equal parts awfulness & inner turmoil of Alex. No doubt I hated his ass. But, I love that the author gave us some COMPLEXITY. He had inklings of redeeming qualities. He did feel guilt. But, in the end he was a spineless creature.
I feel sympathy for the depth of manipulation he endured at the hands of their parents - I’m sure that’s why he is that way.
Still, in this fictional world he got what he deserved.
I CANNOT STAND when an author makes a character we’re supposed to no longer like ALL BAD- that’s not realistic. And giving us a complex bad character is 1) more realistic 2) emotionally rich bc of how conflicting it is. it provides for better character growth, morals, etc in the story.
So, YES…10/10 to these authors for that

Holy hell, I loved this one way more than I should have and you will as well if you loved Carving for Cara.
Slaying for Sloan is Cara's best friend Sloan's book. And it starts off with Sloan going to her boyfriend Alex's home town to meet his parents. But PLOT TWIST Alex has an "evil twin" brother names Asher who has his sights set on Sloan and he his going to make her his. But first he needs to take care of the problem that is his brother. Trust me, his brother goes where he deserves eyes 👀 Now in order for Asher to make Sloan his, he sends her on a little shopping spree that ends in a race to midnight primal play game throughout the small town and if he catches her he... well you know the rest. BUT Sloan thinks the masked man is her boyfriend Alex and NOT Asher!
AHHHH this plot was so freaking good! Yes this one is a novella so it's short and spicy. BUT it is left on a cliffy because at the end of this novella, Sloan finds out the masked man's true identity. I can't wait for the completion of this story in the next book! But if you are looking for an erotic horror holiday novella then this is the one for you! It will not disappoint!

Wow this book was everything and more I devoured this book in a day!!!!! If you have not read anything by Melissa and Dana this is your chance everything they write is amazing.
I absolutely loved learning about Sloan and I absolutely love her she is one of my favourites. I will forever love Cara but Sloan is right next to her.

This was a quick, spicy, very dark, trigger warning filled novella. This can be read as a standalone which is what I did, but it ends on a cliffhanger. I NEED to know what happens next after that ending. This was just over 100 pages so such a quick read. Definitely check the trigger warnings though!

This is so good! Primal play at its best! Sloan, who we met in Carving For Cara, is on a trip to a cabin along with her jerk of a boyfriend. They break up, but the next day, there is a gift and note with instructions on what to do and what is gonna happen. Asher is a hot, morally grey hottie whom anyone would want chasing them. This is a dark novella and quick read. I loved it and definitely recommend it!
