If your name is Jack Daniels, you must have a soft spot for whiskey.
So when former Homicide cop Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels gets an opportunity to tour one of the oldest distilleries in the U.S. she's hoping for a fun getaway with friends.
It doesn't matter that the distillery is supposedly haunted. Or that it is the source of dark rumors--going back over a hundred years--of missing and murdered people.
After a lifetime of dealing with serial killers, Jack knows the odds of running into another one are astronomical.
Right?

Joe Konrath has written over twenty novels in the Lt. Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels thriller series. Wow, that's a lot of Jack.
If you like your thrillers on the dark side, check out the Konrath Dark Thriller Collective, which includes the books The List, Origin, Afraid, Trapped, Endurance, Haunted House, Webcam, Disturb, What Happened To Lori, The Nine, Second Coming, and Close Your Eyes.
Joe also wrote the Stop A Murder mystery puzzle series, where you become the sleuth and solve brain teasers to try and catch a killer.
He also wrote the sci-fi trilogy, Timecaster, Timecaster Supersymmetry, and Timecaster Steampunk. Even if you don't think you like sci-fi, give them a try. They feature Joe's well-known characters from his other series, and are insane.
With Ann Voss Peterson he wrote the Codename: Chandler thrillers, including Flee, Spree, Three, Hit, Exposed, Naughty, Fix (with F. Paul Wilson), Rescue, and Free.
And, finally, he writes erotica under the pen name Melinda DuChamp, also with Ann Voss Peterson. Those books are probably too spicy for you, so only the brave and bold should seek them out.
Joe writes a lot. You should probably read everything.
I love this series despite the fact they keep getting more and more ridiculous with each new entry. I would describe these as comedy horror with action. The horror parts are horrific, with strong body horror, blood and gore. The comedy parts are slapstick and silly at times but the humour is definitely needed to break up the bleak circumstances the characters are facing. Again, because Jack and friends just can't go anywhere without being attacked by crazed lunatics. After 24 books I was expecting more deaths, particularly some well known characters (secretly hoping for the kid) but I'm happy with those who survived.
If you’ve read this series, you already know serial killer chaos ensues. This is book 24, and somehow they never get old—just more ridiculous, maybe. This is also the only series this long that I’ve actually kept up with, which says a lot.
These books are funny as hell but also horrific as shit. It’s slapstick comedy with some potty humor mixed in with crime, gore, and serial killers—and somehow, it just works. You’ll laugh, cringe, and probably need therapy after, but it’s worth it.
Also love the rating scale Konrath gives us for these categories in each book. Can’t wait for the next one!
* If you don’t like thriller, bad language, sex, violence, you probably should skip this series. However you don’t know what you’re missing. So try it! Another great addition to this awesome thriller series. Jackie, Phin, Harry, Herb and Chandler are back in action. They get caught up in trying to solve murders at a haunted whiskey distillery. Just leaving it there. Don’t want to spoil anything. Nice twist with Sam, Harry Jr . and Mary, Jackie’s mom getting involved in the action.
Yet another great Jack Daniels story from J.A. Konrath! I’m not going to go into any great details/give spoilers; but this one may be one of my favorites in the series.
As with every JD story; you know there’s going to be something bad going on (and of course mayhem)! The story does not disappoint!
And Sam is becoming one of my favorite characters. She’s definitely JD’s kid!
Thanks for the new book! For people who have read this series and enjoyed it, particularly the last few, - you’ll enjoy it. It’s always a good time when the gang gets together. Suspenseful, fun, and funny - exactly what I needed.
